"Theatre is a powerful though often underrated force for change in both the individual and society. It also provides a rare and precious opportunity for a rich communal experience, a chance to introduce ritual, symbol, romance, colour, music, poetry and passion into everyday life."

This is exactly why I want to make theatre myself. Reading this reminded me that my pursuit was a worthy one, at a time when I was worried that my career options may not provide the right opportunities to do the world any good.
