Heroic Alpha #5

Saving Her

Rate this book
ANDRES
I’ve been a medic in the armed forces since I was nineteen, and served several years overseas amidst the ugliness and heat of war. I’ve seen horrors I can’t bring myself to describe, and although I’ve saved many lives, I’ve experienced the frustration and pain of feeling souls slip away under my fingers too many times to count.
Now that I’m back in the States, serving as a paramedic for a private company, I still see my share of disasters, but here, there are more wins than losses. Here, I have the satisfaction of sending the patients I’ve saved back home to their families.
The morning I meet Libby begins with a bizarre 9-1-1 call and a daring rescue in the park . . . and then, hours later, we meet again, and this time, Libby is my patient, and her life is literally in my hands.
They say when you save someone’s life you become responsible for them. Was that why I couldn’t stop thinking about Libby? Because even after she’s out of danger, I give in to the desire to see her, again and again. The question is, is she with me because she wants to be, or because she’s grateful to me for giving her back her life? Or is there something else driving her hunger?

LIBBY
They told me I’d died. Flatlined . . . coded . . . like something out of every scene from every hospital drama you ever saw. I remember little, except darkness . . . a winding river . . . and a pair of strong hands upon me, clinging to my soul, refusing to let me slip away.
It was just the awful icing on top of a ghastly birthday cake, because instead of happy wishes and balloons, I’d endured a series of minor catastrophes leading up to a major one, which would have cost me my life if it weren’t for Andres, the gorgeous paramedic with warm golden hands and cool blue eyes.
I owe him for the breath in my lungs, and for every morning I will ever wake up again.
The problem is, I’ve turned 29 and my life is a sorry mess. Few friends, dead-end job, no boyfriend . . . not even a little fun, recreational sex to jump-start my life. Because there just aren’t that many eligible men around . . . unless you count Andres.
But can I seduce him, have a little fun, and then get out of the entanglement with my heart intact?

This is a stand-alone alpha male, curvy woman steamy romance. It includes a link to a free book inside.

“ Nobody Hates Diamonds^

I am voluntarily reviewing an advanced reader copy of this book.

Libby was having the worst birthday ever, first she is late because she forgot to set her alarm, then her car won’t start so she’s forced to take the bus and then finds a dog locked in a car about to die of the heat, that’s when she calls the emergency services. One look at Andres and she’s in lust but when he shouts at her for calling an ambulance to the scene that feeling disappears. They both bond of the dog so when Andres offers to drop her off at work she agrees, but one slice of cake at the surprise party work have arranged and it’s light out, will she survive and who will save her?

Andres loves his job after being in the military for so long he has welcomed the change of pace, so when he and his partner Mickey arrive on scene to find a dog when they were expecting to see a child he is none too pleased. Andres is attracted to her way more than he should be and he wants to know more so he insists they Chauffeur her to work. He’s loathe to let her go but has run out of reasons for her to stay so when less than minutes there is another emergency and it’s just where he left her. Andres watched as the woman he only just met died twice in front of him and feeling her slipping away. Will he save her before it’s too late and could this woman be his future?

Short and steamy read with two characters that keep you in in their grasp from start to finish. 4* read.

Libby and Andres can they make it through the day?

It's Libby's birthday and see is already late for work. However, her car won't start so she decided to take the bus. But she got off the bus early to run through the park to save some time. But that's not what happened. She calls 911, and says that Benjamin is dying from heat stroke and asks what should she do? The paramedics are on their way and when they get there they find out that Benjamin is a dog. lol. She broke the car window to save him. That's when she met Andres and Mickey. But she did a good deed for the 🐕 and it's owner and ruined her shoes. So Andres decided to give her a ride to her work after all it was her birthday and Andres liked her and wanted to spend just a few more minutes with her.

After they left they got another call and it was from Libby's work place. They got there to find out it was Libby in anaphylactic shock from nuts that were in the cake. After Andres talk with her earlier he knew that she was all alone and stayed there with her at the hospital so she wouldn't have to wake up alone. As she died twice on the way to the hospital.

He kept in touch with her and finally asked her out for a date. A redo of her birthday, and it was wonderful. She was now going to live life to the fullest. However, he still had nightmares about when he was a medic in the army. So now it was her turn to help him get the help he needed to get rid of the nightmares.

I got this book as an ARC for an honest review and I loved it! Five stars.

It was such a beautiful surprise to read this story about leaving the past behind and moving forward from the moment Andres saved her life. And her teaching him to live life from that moment on, knowing that he was saving more lives now, and that he didn't have to carry the pain of losing those in his past.

✳️✳️ONE INCREDIBLE DELIGHT✳️✳️
Fantastic! Alexis nails this baby with 100% realism from the get go, with all the chaos, mayhem and uh ohs aplenty, spinning this explosive debacle, keeping you riveted and frozen to your seat, wrapping this gem up sleek, shiny and tight. This baby may be quick but there's nothing short about it as it takes us on one heartfelt, thrilling journey with close calls, shocks and heartbreaking realizations. Surprising mishaps and baffling circumstances, showcase the taxing trials and challenging tribulations, stumbling through the stunning twists and wicked turns, putting our characters through their paces. Limitations are amplified and exploited, laying out all the fervent facts, feels and fiascos, shifting this baby into overdrive, blasting it into a tailspin with a mind-blowing culmination. The magnetism, attraction and chemistry collides with such intensity, drawing you deeper until you feel the electrifying hum running rampant through your veins. The characters, interactions and charged atmosphere along with relatable qualities and individual traits add diversity, transforming into genuine charismatic personalities. The scenes are strikingly sharp with abundant details and vivid descriptions creating an elaborate backdrop that makes the storyline explode. Amazing job Alexis, thanks for sharing this little jewel with us.

I received a free ARC copy in exchange for a honest review.

Brought together on Libby's 29th birthday, a bad, bad day for Libby, Andres and Libby are instantly attracted to each other. Poor Libby's bad luck is humorous for the reader. We have all had days like this, although hopefully not to this extreme though. Going through Libby's day we can all relate to her.

Andres starts off as a gruff characher but quickly becomes endearing as he opens up to Libby. His vulnerability is touching as he quickly tries to cover it up but she won't allow him to hide.

They are strong when the other needs support and being a couple they give each other the courage to be the best they can be as individuals.

My only criticism of the story is I wish it was a longer story. I like the characters and would like to have read more about them before getting to the happily ever after.

It is a quick standalone read with a happily ever after. It is a feel good read that doesn't get bogged down with anything heavy.

i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the fifth book in the Heroic Alpha series. Libby is having a bad day, even though it is her birthday. On her way to work,s he finds a dog trapped in a hot car and knows he is not going to survive without help, so she calls 911. Andres is a paramedic and when he gets the call, he thinks it is a child, When he arrives and sees a dog, he saves him anyways. Since Libby is now late for work, Andres offers her a ride to her job. A few minutes later, Andres gets another call about a woman in distress, he is shocked to see it is Libby. Andres feels something for Libby and wants to explore it more. Libby is shocked when she wakes in the hospital and finds Andres next to her. I liked this story. I think Andres and Libby were meant to meet and be together. Libby wanted to change her life and get out of the rut she was in and Andres gave her the courage to do it. I think Andres knew when he met Libby she was the one and he wanted to be with her. I think they were good for each other. Another great one in this series.
