Having seen the movie, and the netflix show, I found out it was first a book. Both the movie and the show were much scarier. The book, however interesting, was a little timid for my taste, a scary book made for people who don't like scary stories. I appreciate that it inspired the film and show adaptations but I wasn't really a fan of the book.

This was rated here very high, but I only found this an average read. Admittedly some of the descriptions and story telling were really good, just not enough for me to go more than three stars. I enjoyed the original film much more.

It isn’t a story about ghosts. it’s about the mind, loneliness, and how fear lives inside us.

Brought after watching the series. It was ‘okay’ but definitely lacked the spook factor other horror type books have been able to give!
