In the summer of 1992, Hugh and Olivia Crain and their children?Steven, Shirley, Theodora, Luke, and Eleanor (Nell)?move into Hill House to renovate the mansion in order to sell it and build their own house, designed by Olivia.
Having seen the movie, and the netflix show, I found out it was first a book. Both the movie and the show were much scarier. The book, however interesting, was a little timid for my taste, a scary book made for people who don't like scary stories. I appreciate that it inspired the film and show adaptations but I wasn't really a fan of the book.
This was rated here very high, but I only found this an average read. Admittedly some of the descriptions and story telling were really good, just not enough for me to go more than three stars. I enjoyed the original film much more.
