An account of government sponsored gas turbine research that began at The Royal Aircraft Establishment, Farnborough and latterly at nearby Pyestock. This edition describes in detail the construction of the famous, tough at the time quite secret, National Gas Turbine Establishment (NGTE), its buildings, Test Cells etc. A good description of life at Pyestock - if anyone telephoned NGTE a call was always answered "Pyestock" - and many of the people who worked there. Also included is an update following the closure of the site and its subsequent sale for development. The book contains many photographs, especially from the FAST (Farnborough Air Sciences Trust) Archive.
Note: This book is not on general sale. It is only available from the FAST Museum Shop at Farnborough or via their website.
