Stuck in lockdown with the one guy she can’t stand, what could possibly go wrong?

Seventeen-year-old Clary’s senior year has gone up in flames. Thanks to a pandemic sweeping the world, school is canceled and everyone’s going into lockdown. To top it off, her parents are stranded overseas with no way to get home.

Just when Clary thinks things can’t get any worse for her, she finds out she’s being sent into lockdown with the most irritating guy on the planet—Harford High’s notorious heartbreaker, Aiden Moore.

Sure, Aiden is gorgeous, but he’s also completely arrogant and constantly trying to get under Clary’s skin. For most girls, quarantining with Aiden would be a dream come true. For Clary, it’s a total nightmare.

But they’re about to become lockdown buddies whether Clary likes it or not, and resisting Aiden’s devilish charms might be harder than she thought.

(this review is in no way offense to the author. I'm sure she's a wonderful hooman and I would love to see how her potential grows. And if I did sound offensive, please let me know)

Don't let the cover deter you, this is actually a YA book. Even shirtless constipated-guy covers have infected our lovely cover community. This is not a review but a much-needed rant, so as I do not recommend this necessarily (unless you were like me and just wanted to read it just because you wanted something light and fun) Feel free to keep on reading, because honestly, it's an Allergy commercial for books such as this one.

RATING: 🌟🌟⭐⭐⭐ 1.5

WARNING! WARNING! WARNING! ABORT IF YOU HAVEN'T READ IT YET!

I was stuck.

With the urge to regurgitate last month's meals.

On every page.

So yes, this is going to be one of THOSE reviews.

Enjoy.

((By the way, I made a whole butt load of notes, so be prepared))

Hello! Yes, *clears throat* This is my ghost speaking because this book had me dead on page 39. But I still finished it! HA HA, I still did. Wow, I truly don't have a brain anymore. Like, I had my theories, but this has confirmed it. Let's begin by saying, that this rant is in no way supposed to insult the author or anything, it's supposed to insult the book. And the characters. And the storyline. And the dialogue. And the setting. And- okay, I think y'all already know what else I'm going to say.

But I don't mean to insult the author in any way. I have read books from Alexandra Moody, like three and only liked one, but I still have hope.

So diving into the whole mess this will grow to be, I just want to justify myself in The Court of Me, that I KNEW what I was getting into. But I just didn't UNDERSTAND, how many horrifying cliches this was going to have. This is THAT journey. Shall we commence?

Okay, let's begin with the characters. *snort*

There's the MC, named Clary, and she's the sweetest, kindest, most angelic girl you could ever meet (Snow White 2.0) and she also happens to be "not like other girls". Oh my ladyness, guys, I totally didn't see that coming! How could I? When all she does is help people and NOT fall in love with the super, duper, player, hot guy. That is so unique *sigh*, if only I could be "not like other girls" with her. She also happens to be model gorgeous, but NO, never has a guy taken a liking to her "ethereal" beauty. Oh! She is a slight nerd and as we all know, she is SUCH an outcast. I would TOTALLY want to be friends with her. And guys... I actually found a yearbook photo of her! I think her personality shines bright as steam in it. And did I mention she cooks? *another sigh* Such "not like other girls" vibe, right there.

Not to forget that she does many ~insightful~ things as well!

Like, that time in which she wanted to prank Aiden by pretending to be in love with him. And then they had this semi queasy, awkward moment. Which could’ve NEVER been avoided. Haha. What the heck.

But I’m getting ahead, (like their relationship) since we already establish she’s NOT like other girls (obviously), let’s move on to the guy. Who’s JUST like the other guys. Y’all see the trend here?

Aiden. Dear Aiden. I liked you from page 5 to page 7, because it actually seemed like you had a smidgen of personality. However, that tepid hope was bashed in with a mallet, in the following statements.

“Clary wasn’t like the other girls we went to school with. She didn’t bat her eyelashes at me, and she didn’t swoon whenever I turned my attention on her. If anything, I only seemed to annoy her, and as a result, I only wanted her more.
My feelings for Clary were hardly something new. I’d been obsessing over her for as long as I could remember.”

...
..
.
What? Um... what?

And the messed up guy keeps on rolling-

“But we wouldn’t be Clary and Aiden if I wasn’t irritating her. It’s our thing.”

When they were cooking pasta-

“before he dipped another finger into the simmering sauce and slowly licked it off.”

Clarity described the sauce as boiling. And he dipped his finger in. I never knew he was a friend of The Four.

Because, why give Booksy a break when you can wish her to want to never be born-

“When we were kids, she loved playing video games. She used to wear T-shirts with funny gaming slogans or pictures of her favorite characters on the front to school. She was so different from the other girls in our class. It was part of the reason I’d started crushing on her in the first place. Clary wasn’t like everyone else. She never had been.”

Oh! And did I mention he’s a player and therefore only has emotions concerning said player activities? Wow, he is just such a masterpiece.

“Aiden was not simply the player I thought he was.”

I-

“I knew you were a player, but living with you has made me realize that you’re actually kind of a good guy once you get past your cocky, annoying side.”

Hmmm, I surely thought Aiden had a 2d personality but *gasp* Clarence has shown me otherwise! Color me surprised, if you will. Or oh, “not like the other girls”.

This is the pic I found of him as well,

That just describes him so perfectly...

clap* Ready for the next topic? Okay.

The romance.

If Clarence looked like the first pic, and Arnold looked like the second pic. Can you guess how they look together?

You guessed right! An amazingly healthy companionship between two cardboards who want to have cardboard babies and who want to live a merry cardboard life.

The thing is, it just keeps getting worse. The following statements were recorded directly from the scene of the massacre of my will to live...

Summary
Uhm some girl hates this guy and then covid happens and her parents are overseas and she has to stay with him and his family but plot twist he actually likes her (not really a spoiler but if you have beef with that just comment and i'll mark it as spoiler)

Characters
Belly Okay FINE her name wasn't ACTUALLY Belly, but they were pretty much the same person so it's fine.
Aiden Hmph. I guess he was kinda mid but he was sweet so that was cool.
Elliot HE WAS ACTUALLY SO ICONIC. BEST CHARACTER BY FAR!
Zoe I don't rlly remember whether her name had a y at the end or not but it's whatever. She was cute and I liked her personality!
Everyone Else ignore the fact that I keep making this category because I'm too lazy to actually write about everyone else mkay..? They were okay.

ok so i did not have any hopes for this book. i only got it bc the other book im reading on my kindle is boring and i wanted a quick read this was also like $4

its a cute idea, with clary (a vaguely popular quirky kid) and aiden (the 'hottest guy in school') forced to live together during covid. its not exactly an enemies-to-lovers, but it had grump vibes from both of them at the start.

now i will put some quotes here bc they really show the essence of the story.

'i even stopped working out in her bedroom while she's asleep, and nothing!' - literally what? just what.
for context he was talking about all the things he had done to get on her good side (they also involved almost setting the kitchen on fire trying to make frozen pizza and volunteering to drive her places i think???) idk i didnt really take it in.

'she was so different from the other girls in our class. it was part of the reason i’d started crushing on her in the first place. clary wasn’t like everyone else. she never had been.' - clary's not like the other girls, pt 1 of about 234797832164793216234. EVERYONE WENT ON ABOUT HOW QUIRKY IT WAS that she was obssessed with zombies and her ps3 or somehting idec.

'most girls loved cuddling up to watch a chick flick when i suggested it, but clary wasn’t most girls.' - part 2. cLaRy'S nOt LiKe ThE oThEr GiRlS cOz ShE wAnTs To WaTcH ZoMbIe HoRrOr MoViEs. (keep in mind old mate aiden was scared of said horror movies)

'the shirt swamped her, making her look tiny. her hair was in a messy bun, and the makeup she’d been wearing yesterday was completely gone. the funny thing was, i thought she looked as beautiful in this outfit as she did in her prom dress. maybe even more.' - again, clary's not like the other girls, coz she wears her dad's tshirts that are so massive on her oh so tiny body. (aiden mentions her long long legs like five times so how can she be tall af but tiny asw???) the math aint mathing over here.

another thing that put me off was the cover here on gr. the book i bought had a cute cartoon cover of two kids sitting on a couch and i thought it was cute and it was probably the main reason i bought it. THE MONSTROSITY ON GR MAKES IT LOOK LIKE AN ADULT NOVEL WITH A SHIRTLESS MAN ON THE COVER??????????????????????? we were reminded that aiden was very often shirtless, but i did not need to see that. they are both minors. pls change it gr!

keeping on the theme of ya vs adult books, i also thought that the writing really was not ya at all. it was written more mature (not that i know bc i basically just read ya) and the way they spoke was nothing like teenagers i know.

the last thing that annoyed me with this book was that the author is australian (woo!), and not only australian, but from adl (double woo!). BUT THE BOOK WAS SET IN AMERICA???? like aiden was the quarterback or something and i feel like she really missed the chance to do a aussie lockdown story that was set in melbs instead. (like grace notes , one of my alltime fav books)

oh well. im glad thats over. it was cute in some parts, im just a negative person and the ending was adorable, but not cute enough for 3 stars.

I do think we need more of these books that have a fluffy, relateable vibe to it :D
So the story is about Clary who is stuck in her home town while her parents are away and they can't return because of COVID-19, so she has to live with her mom's friend and her worst enemy Aiden .. but what she doesn't know is that Aiden loves her like crazy, and the lockdown is his chance to prove to her how much they are right for each other
the book has a comedic vibe much like the book " Perfectly Oblivious" and it was filled with cute moments and how the love story progressed during lockdown, and it's very relateable to most of us who are not in the frontlines .. very nice light book :)

well that was adorable! You definitely need to suspend belief about the pandemic and parenting in this one, but I think it had to be that way for the storyline. I thought it was still super cute and a quick, one sitting read.

IDK WHY THIS BOOK HAS THAT COVER! There was no spice and I have seen a decent amount of other reviews saying like what is that cover. 😂
Anyway, 3.5⭐️. I don’t really have an opinion on this book. I’ll probably never think about it again, but I didn’t hate it 🤷‍♀️. The setting wasn’t my fav but the idea was interesting…I feel like it could have been better ig.
Also one night I was trying to find a book on Kindle and I saw this one. It had a different, normal cover. I looked on the reviews on Amazon and they were ok. So I started the book. Then the next morning I went to enter it into Goodreads and I was like WUT. Basically plz ignore the cover 😂😂

Sitting at home in my pajamas was definitely not how I saw things going. That was the reality of living through a pandemic though. And, right now, this reality was just as uncertain and just as frightening as trying to survive a horde of the undead.

He was a total player, and because I refused to be affected by his charms, he seemed to take great pleasure in annoying me instead.

It was strange how quickly things had changed since the lockdown restrictions were announced.

It felt like the world had pressed the pause button. None of this felt real.

I wanted the girl I couldn’t have, and my heart refused to give up on her.

I didn’t deserve Clary-not in a million years-but that didn’t stop me from wanting her.

Given the number of books she’d packed, she probably did a lot of reading. But, since I couldn’t be certain, my curiosity was killing me.

“Girls like guys that make them laugh.”

Given the direction the pandemic was heading, I’d had a feeling this year might not end the way we wanted.

This was what lockdown did to you-you got so bored you were willing to give just about anything a try.

“Love isn’t always obvious or exactly how you expect it to be.”

“So, you think we can make this work?”
“I can make anything work, as long as I’ve got you.”

Well, this book was freaking adorable! I had a feeling that I was going to like but I ended up loving it! Aiden & Clary are The Pandemic Couple! This was the first book that I read that the plot was about the pandemic and the virus. I’m sure that there will be more books that is/was set during the pandemic and the virus. This book was cute, fun, original and so cute. I really enjoyed the feelings about being in lockdown, and the uncertainty about seeing your family and friends. We all can relate to this book because of those feelings. The descriptions about the feeling of the pandemic and the virus hit so close to home. I hope we get a book about Elliot when he’s older because he was freaking adorable. I also hope we get a book for Seth and Zoey. I read this book on my kindle so now I'm going to have to buy my own copy because that's how much I love this book. 5 stars!

When Clary’s parents are stuck in another country and the pandemic rise requires a lockdown, she is forced to stay at Aiden’s house. Annoyed with his serial flirting and terrible pickup lines, she isn’t looking forward to this. But, Aiden couldn’t feel more opposite. This is his chance to finally win Clary over.

Yeah, I totally read a book that took place during the pandemic. Yeah, I basically relived March/April 2020. But you know? It was still cute. Though some parts were unrealistic (like Clary’s parents letting her live under the same roof as Aiden during lockdown), there were sweet moments, funny banter, and a story I could empathize with a lot.

This is probably the only way I’d willingly read a book taking place during the pandemic because it was giving heavyyy forced proximity. I will say, I think I need to take a break from Alexandra Moody books for a second because I am definitely starting to notice some patterns with her characters and plots (that’s not a bad thing but that’s a reason to not read three in a row!). Cute book!

Let me just say, the book is YA even though the cover is a shirtless guy haha it was an okay read. Very cheesy and cool to read a book taking place during COVID. Nothing too special but my guilty pleasure is a cheesy YA romance book, so here I am.

I love Alexandra Moodys book’s, especially because they are YA and I am a teenager who does not read spicy, smutty book’s but this book was not good. I don’t know whether to give it 2 stars or 2.5 because it wasn’t horrible but it was definitely not great. I have read 5 book’s by Alexandra Moody (not including this one) and all of those have been 4 to 5 stars for me. This book was seriously disappointing. It was a quick read but that was the only good quality. I don’t like how she just randomly decided to have feeling for him because of his actions. Like I get it, but on a serious note there was very little banter, tension, and romance. When reading a romance book you should feel like the characters are destined to be together forever and what I got from this couple was that they are going to break up in 6 months to a year of dating. So I would I recommend this book? Honestly probably not.

1. This cover makes this seem like a book it is not😂 2. This was a cute pandemic rom com. It was adorable and I liked it but the end was unrealistic and super cheesy. What parent would return from being stuck overseas and let their high school daughter continue living with her boyfriend in the middle of lockdown?! 3. It was interesting to take a trip back to 2020 and see if different perspective on COVID.

Contrary to the fact that the cover of this book has a shirtless man on it it's very clean...

Kindle unlimited romances>>>

I really have no complaints this book was amazing I could gush for hours but I'll save you the trouble of reading that 😝

I laughed so hard this book was so funny the April fools pranks had me cracking up as well as Elliot twerking at iso prom ⬅️ my fav scene was fs iso prom 💗💗

The characters were amazing especially Elliot that kid was amazing and I loved that we got to see his sweet side as well as hilarious with Clary 😍 and loved the mj nickname after the first failed pickup line. Aiden has such a good character development also!! It's so sweet how much he cares about everyone especially how tender he can be with Clary. I'm also a sucker for he's always been in love with her tropes...

It was really interesting to read a book set place in the pandemic but it was very good and very unbiased with its opinions which I appreciated

so I originally read this over the summer, and gave it a four star rating, and I just finished rereading it. It was such a cute little book and I loved the little quarantine aspect of it! Not many YA romance books have taken place during quarantine, and this was one of them that was done so good! Were the cliches there? YES, obviously, it's a young adult romance book, but they were done so cutely that I like them! I'm going to re-read most of Alexandra Moody's young adult books soon!
