The more desperate the situation in life, the more one wants an escape into fantasy. Call it a desire of the moth for the star, or the longing of a tormented soul for the drop of honey. Aakash, a bank theft accused, is so smitten by the ravishing beauty of Madhuleena that he forgets that he has to run away from the law. Meanwhile, the police officials get over-worked investigating the complaints that some rich and influential persons are honey-trapped by young and ambitious girls. Some of the contents of the book may not be appropriate for those below eighteen years of age,
I have read most of the books by Govind Sharma. His stories are usually simple with fluid pace. You can read his books on your short journey or trip. When I saw his upcoming book, I pre-ordered it. The book reached me almost after 20 days. Unfortunately, it took me almost 10 days to take the book in hand but I finished in 2-3 sittings.
The protagonist of our story is Aakash. Aakash is shown as a young man who had been to a juvenile home but wanted to have a normal life. But things didn't go smoothly, he was framed in a bank robbery. Our story started with Aakash running away from the police. He was desperate to go away from the small town Rajapur so that police wouldn't catch him. He almost left the town (almost). On that last day, he met a girl named Madhuleena. You may call it love-at-first-sight or infatuation, but he came back. He took the help of two of his friends and arranged his hideout in Rajapur. He befriended Madhuleena also. But little did he knew about the case he was entangled in. Read the book to know more.
As usual, Govind has maintained his fast-paced storytelling. His way of sticking to the story keeps you reading books. The word choice and sentence framing make the book an ideal choice for beginners. Govind may want to have the cover matching character of Madhuleena but the girl on the cover page looks way too young to suit the said character.
Aakash grew up on the streets in India, and as a street child, had a history of petty crime. He has been given a second chance with a plum of a job in a bank, but now he has been framed for theft, and with his history, it doesn't look good for him. While trying to avoid the police, he meets the most beautiful girl he has ever seen in his life, Madhuleena. He will do anything for her and in constantly risking his safety to see just a glimpse of her. When he discovers that all is not as it seems, he must make some very difficult decisions. It is hard to talk of the book and not give the story away for the benefit of any future readers; I will only say that I enjoyed the book, it kept me involved and wanting to see what would happen and how things would turn out. I received this book in exchange for an honest review from the author-- thank you!
'Madhuleena' is a fast-paced, gripping tale of love, drama, crime and betrayal, set in the fictional town of Rajapur in which two stories run parallel to each other. The first story is of Akash who has been wrongly accused of stealing an humongous sum of money and is on the run to evade the police. Akash has a troubled past in which he used to be a petty criminal. One day, he meets Madhuleena and is immediately smitten by her breathtaking beauty which sets him on a completely different track.
The other story is of Dr. Chawla who was honey-trapped by a girl named Sonali and had to endure three months of jail even after paying her a hefty sum of one crore rupees. These two stories are connected and how they are connected forms the rest of the story.
The plot mainly revolves around the term -"honey-trap". The language is lucid and the plot is realistic despite its unique theme. The unravels in a simple yet elegant manner and is full of unexpected twists & turns and some deep messages too. I especially fell in love with the climax as it was totally unexpected and surprising. I also liked the brother-sister relationship between Akash and Mithi and how Akash at one point of time, had to choose between sister's future and his pure love for Madhuleena.
I highly recommend this novel, especially for fans of contemporary romance. I thank Govind Sharma sir for giving me this amazing opportunity to read and review this spectacular novel. All opinions are my own.
Set in the fictional town of Rajapur, this is a unique unputdownable read.
The book is full of twists and turns. Beginning from suspense with suspense throughout, the book held me stuck with it!! The story begins with Aakash being accused of theft. His life wasn't easy since the beginning and then how he meets Madhuleena.
The story has a lot of stories embedded in it. Madhuleena's, Akash's, the doctor's and many.
The book is well paced with such a beautiful and intriguing storyline that kept me engrossed in it.
The chapters are well set with no lapses and a beautiful plot.
What can I say about this book..!! It is just a fantastic book. I just love to read this book. The story has so many turning points. It has crime, love, Romance, tragedy, drama all of it nicely molded in a Crime-love story. The characters of the book are also awe-inspiring. Each character maintains a unique essence. The character describes love, brotherhood & passion blend with the Honey-trapped scandal. The author has beautifully decorated each & every line. If you are looking for a good novel having a story of love & crime here it is.
Book Title: Madhuleena Author: Dr Govind Sharma Format: Paperback
My Thoughts: Of late, I have read books written on either myth-fiction or complete fiction with the romance genre as the backdrop. Or predominantly, non-fiction as mentioned in the following section of the review. But, sometimes readers like me get to read books that fall under the Pure Fiction category. But, I have happened to read a few such books this year. But, again to be precise, I haven't read a story like ' Madhuleena '.
This story is so beautifully written that the story actually plays like a cinema before the reader's eyes. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the book.
What to expect from the story? Expect a roller coaster story with every human emotion and feeling. The plot is a perfect cinema material with all the crafts included.
Who can read? The story is a typical super entertainer with twists and mysteries. Because of universally accessible language, though there are some matured elements that are illustrated in a neat language, the book can be read by readers of any age.
What is the storyline? The story is about a fugitive Akash as per the police because of a complaint given by his employer. He runs away to save his life. He meets Madhuleena accidentally and falls in love instantly. He seeks her at any cost in any situation. He gets close to her, and then the story seizes into a web of mysteries. To know more, it is advised to read the story.
My take on the characters There are many characters in the story. My favourite character is Deepak, who happens to be the protagonist, Akash's best friend. Deepak's unconditional love towards Akash is absolutely enormous. His timely responsiveness in the story adds more excitement. Every character in the story has a perfect back story, present presence and strength.
How good is the author's writing style This is my first book by the author. But, I can surely say that this is one of the best entertaining books I read in 2020. Since the days of lockdown, I have been reading more on the non-fiction side or children books, though some new-age love stories but not such an entertaining one. With simple language and smooth narration, author Dr Govind Sharma has excelled in here. A quick reference of the author made me realise he has written more books and all of them have been well received.
With this experience, I have made my mind to read his other works. His flawless attempt to keep the reader turn to the next page is worth mentioning.
How entertaining is the book? The story has every element to be regarded as a definite entertainer. The reasons to call it a definite entertainer are: ~ It has a good story ~ There are wonderful characters ~ There is a fast action ~ There is a love story ~ There are miseries ~ There are morals ~ There is friendship ~ There is the responsibility ~ There is vengeance ~ There is adultery In short, there is everything that can hook a reader instantly till he or she completes the book.
To start with , this is my sixth book of Govind Sir.
I really enjoyed reading this new book of his Madhuleena . Each time I feel like the new books get better than the previous ones . Or maybe I just wait for his new work with excitement that I enjoy reading the new releases in more and more . I truly loved the Break Up Clinic by him couple of years ago. Coming back to the new release 'Madhuleena' , it revolves around a lot of things that go around in this modern world behind closed doors . I donot know in which genre it shall be tagged but it has mystery , suspense , thriller , romance and each part came with sudden twists.Whenever I started assuming the conclusion , the plot took 180 degree twists , so I can tell I did not feel bored any time . It was a fresh story for me . It is about Aakash who is accused in a bankruptcy of Padmaja Bank in which he used to work as a clerk under a well known kind man Pradeep Lal. His childhood started as a street beggar , pick pocket , etc. A difficult background like that never lets people have success and trust in the world easily. But has he truly grown up to be a good person yet ? Not only Police is chasing him but an unknown shooter too is trying to kill him . Life 's course lets him come across an irresistible beauty , the rich and intelligent young woman similar to his age : 'Madhuleena ' . But something is off about her. Her aura is of innocence irresistible beauty but a suspense surrounds around her overall reality and actions . There are different subplots running paralelly with it. There is Dr.Chawla who is convicted in a case of sexual harassment case . His story has again a lot of twists . Then there is a honey trap business going in the town . Lipika and a close trusted one's case comes to light later along with the unfolding of the case of Nalini and her husband. The character of the sadhu added some life lessons . Is Aakash the real accused ? Who did it and why ? Who is Madhuleena ? Is she really what she appears to be or a big secret is behind her whole existence ? How genuine are Pradeep Lal , Sonali and Dr.chawla ? What's the truth behind Yashasvini Academy for training girls ? All these subplots were linked in a very crisscross manner with each other . I liked that when all these were running in pipeline having their own intriguing suspense, , they unfolded the truth in theirown time very appropriately making sense. The last twist was unexpectable and felt more like a movie but I guess time spoke for their realization. Being an anxious reader I truly loved this fast-paced story of only 130 pages and the narration was lucid enough but addition of appropriate ornamental words added more charm to the overall experience. I look forward to read more new books by Sir. Really enjoyed this one.

•The cover page is simply designed yet will give us a glimpse of what Madhuleena as a character looks like. The title of the book is also apt to the plot.

MY REVIEW:-⭐⭐⭐⭐ The cover and title of the book is eye-catchy😍 the story starts with aakash, a normal man who wrongly accused for stealing huge sum money from his bank he decided to run from the police but gave up after seeing the beauty of madhuleena. Everything was going smoothly until he was framed for a theft he didn't committed. Things changed and took a turn of 360° when he met madhuleena and now whether their destiny entwined or not? To know more, give it a read. This book is intriguing story of love, credence, tenacity, honey trap, betrayal and much more. The story precedes further smoothly with demonstrating the different faces of human desire and their behaviours. The writing of the author is straight-forward and balanced. The story is fast paced so if reader misses a bit than they'll lose the huge plot. The ending has done justice to the storyline. Futhermore, nowadays people who want shortcuts to earn more money will come up with different ideas and other people have to stay aware of it. In such scenario a fictional book on such a topic seems to be real and not many other fictionals have been written in such a detail. So, this book is surely praiseworthy and therefore, 💯 i recommend this to all readers and even to those who are finding book which helps them to escape with love, thrill and fantasy. So go and grab your copy to read💕 Thank you so much🌻
Short and simple fast-paced thriller...with lots of twists and complex plot...
I came across this book via LibraryThing and received this copy for review. Thanks to Dr. Sharma for the giveaway. I received this book after 7-10 days from Amazon. The book is just 143 pages and I wished it should have been a little longer.
Regarding the author's writing style, I can see him as the next Surendra Mohan Pathak (Top Hindi crime thriller novel writer) of English thriller novels. The story starts very nicely and gets introduced to various characters which are part of the novel. The plot slowly becomes complex and various other characters start popping out. This book was so well written, it was easy to read and flowed from start to finish. I will be reading everything by this author ( Dr. Govind Sharma). It is completely different from anything else I have read.
The main character Aakash is accused of theft from the bank and is on run. Someone is trying to kill him when he is on run. While trying to avoid the police, he meets the most beautiful girl he has ever seen in his life, Madhuleena. He will do anything for her and in constantly risking his safety to see just a glimpse of her. When he discovers that all is not as it appears, he must make some very difficult decisions.
Final Words Clear Story With Lot of Twist And Emotions And With Clear End
Received the book in a giveaway from the author. Madhuleena: A Novel, is a short really enjoyable read for a quiet afternoon. The characters in Madhuleena are developed with care, a reflection of human emotions and do not appear fabricated as most fictional characters tend to. It is the story of a convict on the run, who stops running to return into the embrace of danger for a woman with alluring beauty. The story revolved around the idea of a trap - A Madhuleena that one despite trying can't seem to run away from. The narrative alternates between Aakash Lal's story and the police assigned to bring him to justice. After expertly navigating the entangled story lines occurring simultaneously the Sharma brings it to a satisfying end. The tangled knots untangle to show the bigger picture. The feeling is equivalent to that of the different harmonies of the two singers of a song uniting to sing the final note in perfect unison.
All in all, Madhuleena is a worthy contestant for someone looking for a short relaxing read.

The cover of the book is okayish it could have been better.. The title is totally apt. The plot of the story is interesting, entertaining and unique. It is a perfect blend of love, crime, thrill, mystery with lots of twist and turns. Language used is simple and lucid. Characters are well developed and described by the author. Each and every character has its own story which makes the story very powerful. The author has narrated the story amazingly that it seems to be watching a movie with lots of masala. The flow of the book is fast paced. The end is unpredictable.
Overall, a nice page turner thriller.
Rating - 4.6/5
I recommend this book to people of 18 years and above.
This is my 2nd book from the author and I received this book in exchange of an honest review. First of all, I loved the cover of the book. It's appealing.
This book is again written in a lucid language and the story is gripping. It's difficult to put down the book once you begin.
The story revolves around Akash who is a fugitive and is falsely accused of a bank theft. He falls in love with Madhuleena at the first sight. There is a parallel story of Dr. Chawla and the honey trap cases that happens in the city of Rajapur.
What I love about the author's writing is that his books have a theme which is one of the reality of modern India. His previous book 'Of Aakash and Aarti' was based on the drug addicts while this is based on the honey traps.
This is a quick and light read and you can complete it in one go.
Definitely recommended.
Thanks a lot to Govind Sir again for this beautiful gift:)
Story starts with a boy Akash. Who is escaping from the police as he is falsely charged for robbery of a very huge amount by his employer because of his past. While running he met a girl Madhuleena and felt in love with her. Then there is a another story of Doctor Chawla who is a victim of honey trap. These to stories goes parallely but in the end all the stories connects with each other. Story is full of suspense which was maintained till the end. Last of the few chapters are a roller coaster ride. Climax was written perfectly. This is my first read from the author doctor Govind Sharma I found this book so much intersecting that I will read his all other books too.
Story: This book is a story of Aakash and Madhuleena. Aakash is falsely accused of a theft and he is on a run. In the way, he meets Madhuleena and is smitten by her beauty. But when he comes to know the truth, it leaves him shattered.
My take: This book is full of twists and turns. There are a lot of sub-plots in this one, there is also a story of Dr. Chawla. This story has a crime drama- ish vibe and also has a good social message. Author's language is polished and fine. Narration is simple and understandable.
Aakash is an orphan who survived on minor thievery and pick pocketing while he was a child. But later he goes to jail for some petty crime and later is adopted by a man. Soon he begins to work in a bank and is again apprehended for bank theft. Soon he comes in contact with Madhuleena and is smitten by her beauty. Meanwhile, on a parallel track, the police are working on a racket that involves honey-tracking or alluring rich men by young and pretty girls. Are these two connected? How the story proceeds further? This book is all about that.
To begin with, I loved the concept of this book. This was no ordinary thriller, it was so unique. It kept me on the edge of the seat the entire time and I finished it in two sittings. Such a page-turner! I was not at all expecting this kind of end to it. It has elements of romance, drama, crime, thriller, etc which makes it even more enthralling. Despite being a drug user and a petty criminal, I sympathized with Aakash so much. My mood dropped so much towards the end but thank God for the last page, it made me squeal in happiness and contentment. I really enjoyed Dr. chawla's story a lot. And the teachings of Baba in bits and pieces were also noteworthy.
Do you like thrillers with a pinch of drama? If yes, then go for this my fellow readers.
This is my second book by the author Dr Govind Sharma and I must say, I am impressed by his simple writing style and fast paced plot. This story follows a young man who's life has been tormented by all the past events and he wishes to lead a normal happy life.He falls in love with Madhuleena, a beautiful young woman he came across. On a parallel plot there is a story of Dr Chawla who is convicted of a sexual harassment case. A honey trap business is also a subplot . Its really suspenseful, intriguing and engrossing. I look forward to read more books by the author.
Madhuleena written by Dr.Govind sharma is about the pure love of Akash. Akash an accuse of a Bank robbery is at large and he is in run for his life evading police arrest. Akash is innocent and someone has trapped him deliberately and he suspect his immediate boss Pradeep Lal. Akash’s past is not so good as he and his friend escaped from a juvenile home and doing small robberies to earn money for their day to day expenses. One day Akash accidentally meets Madhuleena the beautiful girl while running away from the police.
The first meeting with Madhuleena pulls Akash towards her and he is falling in love with her charm and ravishing beauty. Madhuleena is running a business for Basant Ji and will do anything to please her boss. She opens her past to Akash and tells how Basant Ji helped her family to come out of a difficult situation. The police believe Akash is the culprit and trying to nab him. He runs for his life.
In an another story Dr.Chawla was honey trapped by a girl and he is trying desperately to come out of the case charged. But the girl is demanding a hefty sum from Dr.Chawla to clear his name. Dr.Chawla was forced to pay crores of rupees to come out clean.
Will Akash be able to clear his name and come out clean? What will happen to his love to Madhuleena? Will she accept his love? Who is the culprit behind the bank robbery? Will police be able to catch hold of the robbers’? Read Madhuleena to get answers to the questions. The author is connecting all the dots clearly and wisely at the end of the story.
View about the book: -
This book starts off with some exposition, and the author flings a few of names at the reader. I was going a little crazy wondering which one might be most predominant to the story, but it twirls out to not be a problem. Once the intros are over, the story takes off. Be warned - once you hit page to page the action launch into other parts which are packed with some of the most intense, perpetually action you'll ever read. It's an amazing tale of heroism and love that should keep you riveted.
If you're looking for a feel-good story, one that allows you to escape into a lovely romantic, thrill and fantasy, you'll adore this book. Even if the instant attraction and quick emotional escalation requires a suspension of everything you believe about relationships, you just will not care because of the charming setting and atmosphere, likable characters and the promise of more challenging connected stories.
When I started this book, I precisely was sitting on the edge of my seat pack with prolepsis. Dr.Govind Sharma never disappoints! This story is the truth, a story you hear about all the time but this one lever you inside. Let's you know the characters and where they came from. Let's you know why they are and who they are. I've said it before and I'll say it repeatedly, this author never disappoints. You really, know that feeling when a book is so good that you take your time, savoring its contents and assimilate the many messages woven in its pages? By the end of the book, one would comprehend that it was not just written for rapture reading.
Dr.Govind Sharma , crisscross in messages of tolerance, culpability, credence, love, courtesy, tenacity, abstinence etc. while putting into standpoint various social ills. Finally, this deserved 4 stars and that's exactly what it got! I truly fell in love with this love story!
‘Madhuleena’ by Dr. Govind Sharma is a book that revolves around Aakash. Aakash was an orphan who earlier used to be a small time thief and pick pocket but later on was under the guardianship of Jagdish Lal. The story begins with Aakash trying to flee from police and suddenly enters a building to get rid of them. However, he becomes unconscious on entering the building and is taken away by the security guards to the higher authorities of the business. Here, Aakash is made to meet Madhuleena and he is all head over heels for her. Soon Aakash is falsely accused in the bankruptcy of Padmaja Bank where he used to work under Pradeep Lal who is also his guardian Jagdish Lal’s brother. Then there is honey trap business which is going on in the same area and there are many rich and famous people who have been tricked and blackmailed by this gang. On further investigations by the police there are some links that are found between the cases. Who is behind this bank theft? Why is somebody plotting against Aakash? Will Aakash be able to convey his feelings to Madhuleena? Who is behind this honey trap racket? What is this whole mystery going on in the book? To know more read ‘Madhuleena’
My Thoughts:
I have read previous books by Dr. Govind Sharma and there’s only one thing that comes to my mind each book has some current issues. In this book we get to see youths having drug addictions, blackmailing, and honey trapping, etc. Do we ever ask ourselves why these problems occurs or are we too also somewhere contributing to these problems? The author has excellently handled these topics in this book and the plot too mostly revolves around these issues of today’s youth.
The characters are well developed. I liked the character of Sadhu a lot he really cares about Aakash a lot and this can be seen throughout the book. I must say that Aakash is very lucky to have some good people in his life who wants to save him from the evil and do well in life.
I really like the writing style of the author and it feels as if the story is actually playing in front of our eyes. Language is simple and lucid. The narration is good and I must say that the author is very observant about the things happening around especially the problems with youths and through his work he is always enlightening the readers and gives them the pros and cons about the decisions that we youth take.
The cover page is simple yet will give us a glimpse in what Madhuleena as a character looks like. The title of the book is also apt to the plot and will make the readers curious to know about what the story behind this lady.
Overall, I must say that I have enjoyed each book by the author and would surely recommend it to readers.
Set in the fictional town of Rajapur, this is a unique unputdownable read.
Meanwhile, the police officials get over-worked investigating the complaints that some rich and influential persons are honey-trapped by young and ambitious girls.
.
🌷My Opinion About The Book:
.
After reading the previous two books by the author, I was eager to read the next one. Every new book is better than the previous one. The plot and writing style is developing so much. It's a positive change and I congratulate the author for this change. The new book, Madhuleena is a good read. It's a mixed genre book with Romance, Thriller and Suspense. The plot is unique. There are twists and turns which are capable to blow your minds. The characters are well developed. Story revolves around Akash who is accused of bankruptcy in the bank in which he used to work as a clerk, Padmaja Bank. His childhood was a bit difficult but as he grew, things changed. Later, we meet Madhuleena, a beautiful, rich intelligent women.
.
However, a parallel story runs in the same plot. We meet Dr. Chawla who is convicted in a sexual harassment case and later his story brings a lot of twists. Further there are some more characters with gives the icing on the cake. I enjoyed reading the book. The ending of the book is amazing. The unexpected twist welcomes the readers at end.
.
The story is fast paced. It's a short book but the thrill it gives is of another level. The writing style is lucid and easy to understand. The plot is interesting with a lot of twist and turns. The climax was unexpected. Loved reading the book. Enjoyed a lot.
.
🌷Recommendation:
I would definitely recommend this book. It's a good read.
Book Review: Madhuleena by Dr. Govind Sharma IAS Retd. Title: Madhuleena – A Novel
Author: Dr. Govind Sharma IAS Retd.
Length: 143 pages
Publisher: Notionpress.com
Genre: Drama, Love Story, Fiction
My rating: 4/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Summary:
The story is based in fictional town of Rajapur and is about the Boy named Aakash and his quest to come out of robbery charges and getting love of his life, Madhuleena.
My review:
The book was provided to me by the author last year for review which somehow got delayed. Thanking the author for providing me with stretched timelines for review. I have read and reviewed all the books penned by the author and have liked the morals in his books. This book however is different as it doesn’t have any moral.
Cover of the book is simple yet alluring wherein a picture of beautiful girl is pasted. You tend to imagine that girl as Madhuleena while reading the story. However, the story is about Aakash. Maybe the cover could have been more intriguing than the existing one.
The story line is good and keeps you engrossed in the plot. Author has used 2 styles of narration, as a first person i.e. Aakash and from his view point and second style is Third person and the scenes happening somewhere else. The chapters alternate but there’s no confusion in understanding.
Characters are very well drafted with their distinct features are kept intact throughout the story. However, there’s no character who touches your heart or whom one can connect with. The regular use of drugs by main characters does put you off sometimes. At times you feel Aakash and Madhuleena are college students by the way the scenes are written.
The book is short and fast paced wherein many can complete it in just one sitting. It is quite a light read and likeable too. This was exactly what I wanted to read after a tiring day. Overall it’s a good read and I would recommend it to people who want to get their hands on light read
What is your light read books? Do mention in comments
One of the best novels I read by Govind Sharma which includes love, relationship, affair, thrill, suspense, friendship, and romance. We can say a package of all feelings. It is a beautiful story which revolves around Akash and Madhuleena. Akash was a clerk but because of his past he was accused of a bank theft. He was a petty thief and was now running from the police. Meanwhile, the police officials get over-worked investigating the complaints that some rich and influential persons are honey-trapped by young and ambitious girls.
When he met Madhuleena, he was so mesmerised by her beauty that he forgot he was running away. Thinks started to change and the story takes a turn when their story combines and picks up a good pace.
The cover is beautiful and the title is apt according to the plot. The story shows us that how face can lie and what is the importance of true friends in life. It wonderfully shows us the value of emotions and also the power of true love. The language is simple and hold the power to effect us as needed.
The book also teaches about how today’s youth fall for traps in want to earn money and how rich people and some business minds takes their benefit sending them in some deep loopholes. The author has done a commendable job in the narration and character development which give it the feels of everything happening in front of our eyes.
It have the use of drugs thus I won’t recommend it for the smaller kids. But Definitely recommended to someone who want to read about a big issue in a beautiful and impacting fictional form.

The novel is a good page turner. The plot has the power to captivate the readers. We gets introduced to various other subplots which fills our insatiable curiosity and gives us a thrilling effect.
The characters are unconventional which gives a bold and fresh touch to the story. I specifically loved Aakash Lal's character. Its described beautifully.
The lessons story teaches us: 1) The alluring and mesmerising love can be disastrous if your moral fibre is weak. 2) Perch onto hope, even when your life takes a somersault. It just takes only snap of a finger for things to change. 3) True friends stand by your side even at the worst situation.
Eventhough the plot formation is really good, I felt the story somewhat rushed and the ending was too short. But the plus point is the lucid and less rigid narration which hooks you till the end. Story is beginners friendly. Highly recommended, if you are a beginner and love to read thrillers!
