I ran away from the vile man my mother left me with, hoping to start over again in a different town. But deep in the Alaskan wilderness, where I chose to run off to, there wasn’t a place I could settle down.
After days of walking and getting lost, I found shelter in a cabin, far away from civilization.
Until one day, they arrived.
Three brothers, one stronger and more complex than the other. They let me stay, and the more time that past, the closer I got to each of them.
I soon realized that all three had an effect on me, and I couldn’t deny the feelings I felt when I was around them. Our bond grew strong, and before leaving the cabin to go home with them, they promised me to keep me safe forever.
But when the two people I wanted to leave behind came looking for me, promising me to be a family again, I had to decide if I wanted to spend the rest of my life with them, or the three men who took care of me.
This is a reverse harem romance with age gaps up to nineteen years.
Seven Rue is an international bestselling author. Born and raised in a small town by the Lake of Constance in Switzerland, she loves writing books that not only make hearts melt but also push limits. When she's not writing, you can find her on long walks with her pup, Bowie, or kicking around a ball on the soccer field.
I gotta say I find the concept of reverse harem romances appealing. Yet those I’ve read in the past have felt like repetitive orgies with very little feeling or romance. So, I was stoked to find that Echo was my first exception; and I loved it from the first page.
Echo is a beautiful anomaly. A young woman who isn’t deaf but doesn’t speak. Life hasn’t been kind, and her final option is to run away from home. Lost in the woods, she happens upon a hunting cabin where she decides to spend the night. But the night turns into days; as it’s more comforting being safely stowed away, hidden from the world.
Brothers Willem, Summit and Nordin are hunters by trade. Finding a squatter in their cabin isn’t unusual, but an 18-year-old girl on her own; not what they expected. Their reactions are mixed as they’re not completely happy to have a guest imposed on them. But realizing how dire Echo’s situation is, they agree to let her stay.
"I was old enough to make decisions I knew I might even regret, but this was the first time my heart told me to just…go for it."
Instinctively Echo feels at ease with these men that have opened their home to her. And if her appreciation is blossoming into attraction, she's also okay with that. What starts with an attraction for one brother, slowly spills over to all of them. Fortunately all three men are open to sharing...
"I knew I wanted exactly that.
To explore.
Feel things.
Live.
And in that moment, I knew I had three men I could do all those things with."
Willem, Nordin and Summit are intrigued by Echo and the calm that her quietness exudes. And now they're all sharing beds, it's easy to allow their feelings to develop. Especially as they can see a future that includes her.
"You don’t mind if we come on you, do you?” Nordin asked, which made me quickly look back up.
Come on me?
We’re gonna mark you. All three at the same time, Echo. Once we do, you’ll be ours."
This book was beautifully sensual. At no point did it feel disturbing which is strange considering the dynamics. There was a courtship between Echo and the three men that progressed naturally. And somehow I could actually see a real future for the four regardless of how unorthodox. 🖤
'ECHO' Is a full length, stand-alone 'Reverse Harem, Romance Book,' by new to me author Seven Rue. Multiple POV's.
Loved the cover, then onto the synopsis, what's not to love about mountain men, not one, not two but three!!
What a hot little number this one turned out to be, after seeing it making its rounds on IG I had to race off to Amazon and #Oneclick and I'm so glad I did. This pulled me in as soon as I start, beyond unique and so easy to connect with the storyline and all characters, this definitely won't be the last book I read by this author.
First we meet eighteen year old Echo, mute but not deaf, due to the loss of her vocal cords from a lump found at birth but uses sign language to communicate effectively. Her silence speaks volumes. Making a decision to run away from her abusive homelife she takes off barefoot into the wilderness after walking miles she stumbles across a remote hunters cabin deep in the woods and completely isolated off the beaten track, and takes shelter eating what little rations were available.
After a few days three good looking mountain men (Willem, Summit and Nordin) turn up, hunters by trade, one of them can do sign language and it doesn't take them long to discover why she's holed up in their cabin.
Willem: 37 Nordin: 35 Summit: 33
It's not that unusual for a squatter to take shelter in their cabin but they are surprised when it's a beautiful young woman that meets them at the door. It's not long before these three gruff men take her under their wings, they protect her, care for her, and in the end they love her.
The scenes were hot, these alpha men had me gasping for more, from gruff to sweet, to swooning, to loving each one individually. I couldn't get enough of them!!
Jesus H Christ!! this is one of the most beautiful things that I've ever read!!! Ms Rue, you are so fabulous!!
it's ridiculous how Ms Rue just converts me to something that I'm not really into. I mean really.. its the most enjoyable story I've read so far without any hesitation even I'd read this twice.. almost three times before finally put my head around to review this book.
It's as usual sensual and beautifully written with the most amazing storyline! yet I cannot put my finger on why this is completely hooked on me.
PS: I have a huge, great thing for Summit. can't help but fall for this guy.. and where the hell does I find him anyway in my life?!!! LOL
The first half moved too fast, we didn’t get a chance to let things grow naturally. We went from Willem saying he wouldn’t fuck her because he likes his women loud. Within days him and his brothers are fucking her together.
The second half when they were more established was better, more emotional. I appreciate them sucking her into their lives totally. Then having her back was good.
I didn’t like the ending, I want some kind of closure and I didn’t get that.
Overall these stories aren’t great, they’re scintillating and entertaining but they’re mediocre at best.
I got this book thanks to a fb group I’m part of and the plot intrigued me bc I do love RH and I was told Echo was a mute that could hear (reminded me of Mia Sheridan’s Archer). The first chapters of the book were promising and I read them fast but by 46% of the book I was dragging it already and finished it today but it was almost a DNF. While the sex scenes are ok, there’s no plot in terms of mystery or any sort of drama. Echo had an abusive childhood as at 4 her mom left her with her stepdad to go off to an adventure with a rich guy. He was really pissed to have to deal with a child that didn’t talk so he hit her constantly. This was one of the things that bugged me: she had no scars which contradicts what she “said” when she arrived at the cabin that he used to hit her with the belt. I was waiting for an impact scene of the guys seeing her body for the first time but no, it was business as usual: drop your pants and panties. The drama or supposed mystery of the plot is that while echo is 18, her stepdad alerted the cops she was missing. Since he was a bastard, she didn’t want to return home and any interaction with outsiders put her on edge as to having to leave the bubble of being cooped in a cabin with 3 guys. As the story progresses and the guys have to return home to sell all the meat they hunted during the season, the cops inform the guys to bring her to the station so she can encounter her parents as she is indeed reported as missing. The whole thing from there is weird and without much sense to me: her mom appeared out of thin air wanting to reconnect with Echo, her abusive stepdad is rather blasé about the whole thing upon seeing her her, which is a tad antagonist as why would he file a report if he doesn’t give a fuck either way? Plus, only Summit went with her as the others could not manage their emotions around her negligent parents. They were so adamant about being there for her no matter what so being older and wiser they should just get over themselves and just did that. The only reason I don’t rate this book 1 Star is bc I liked the first chapters and the plot did sound promising but yeah I’ll return this book and not think of it again unless someone asks me what I thought of it.

2.5 I said I liked it I didn't say it was good 🙌🏻 As why choose I think the author did an amazing job and made it really very hard to like one mmc than the other because simply they were all perfect..they had different personalities but each one reflected the same amount of love and adoration, the way they handled her so gently as if she's made of glass was so cute to me if you asked me who's my favorite I wouldn't be able to choose that's why the author just did great .
Echo I liked how she also didn't have a favorite and how she tried to be helpful to them so she won't feel like a burden and the way she changed them from scary grumpy men to sweet and soft.
See the problem is her character didn't have depth , she had trauma alooot but they were not talked about enough at least not in the first %75 of the book and I understand that it wasn't the purpose of the book but it would've made her more intersting. I also think mute characters aren't easy to write (not as characters more like the format of the writing) but it was done right here she signed half the time while wrote the other half because Willem and Nordin didn't know Sign language it was okay.
Lastly and the reason I'm not giving it a higher rating THIS FELT LIKE WATTPAD (in a bad way) the days were so repetitive I could finish the book in my head if I wanted , it goes the same everyday: echo wakes up she go to the kitchen makes PANCAKES (everyday haha) two of the brothers will go hunting she'll have a moment with the one stayed, they will return late willem will start on dinner while the rest took shower then she and willem will have a moment then they have dinner willem says let's sleep we have to be up early they sleep. same routine different dialogue RINSE AND REPEAT.
4.5 By now you should have understood how much i loved this book... The insanely amount of edits i made gave me away LOL. Echo is reverse harem, age-gap romance. It's steamy, yet sweet. Echo ran from her stepdad; into the wild wood, she find shelther in a cabin who belongs to three brothers: Willem, Nordin and Summit. I loved Echo, her quietness and the way she always tried to see the good in every situations. The bond she form with the three of them is amazing: they are tough, wild, direct (especially Willem and Nordin) but she find i way to their heart, and she show us that they are also caring, protective and so sweet. Each brothers is different tho, each personality well described, and i have to say that Nordin is my favorite one: so rude at the beginning but the sweetest at the end. Seven Rue style is improving book by book, her plots are always so appealing and honestly i couldn't be happier to have found out about her thanks to IG.
I didn't know what to expect from this book going into it, but I can certainly say it was a weird one. A reverse harem where all of the male leads actually blur into one...
So you have a male who is over 35yrs old who meets a scared, mute, 18 year old girl and gives her pretty much no choice but to share his bed?? Despite her offering/wanting to sleep on the couch?? Yeah that told me pretty much straight away this would not be a book for me..
Yazar çok güzel yazmış. Anlatımı, olayları ve ortamı, karakterleri anlatısı doyurucu, tatmin edici. Cinselliği cinsellik olsun diye yazmamış, kitabı sırf cinsellik için yazmamış. Bu da güzel bir okuma zevki veriyor. Echo kızımızın adı, on sekiz on dokizlarinda. Çünkü why not?
Echo was a sweet and steamy age-gap romance (up to 19 years age difference). However, I didn't enjoy the book that much because it didn't feel like there was a deep emotional connection between Echo and the three men. The reader is told that they bond, but no actual emotional vulnerability happens on the page. None of the men talk about their feelings surrounding their parents' death, and Echo never has a conversation about how her step-father abused her.
I felt the reaction to discovering Echo ran away from home because she was abused felt a bit too subdued. There was no obvious outrage or horror. There were, also, two parts that really annoyed me when Echo's past catches up to her. First, the men get super offended when the police come by to make sure that Echo hasn't been abducted... when they should be happy, the police are doing their jobs. Most abusers are friends or family of the victim, as the statistics demonstrate. Finally, I can't believe that Echo willingly *and* that one of her boyfriends encouraged Echo to get lunch with her abusive step-father.
It just seemed like Echo's abuse was skimmed over the whole book and a bit vague and never delved into. It meant that Echo's backstory and present didn't feel cohesive, and there was no time spent on unpacking the complexities of her situation–like why she felt the need to give her mother the time of day given she hasn't seen her since Echo was four! Four... meaning she has very few memories of her mother as a "mother"... there's essentially no emotional connection that would suggest Echo would feel obligated to attempt to patch things up. And, if there was an emotional connection, it wasn't mentioned on-page!
While I didn't mind the age cap of ~19 years, I would've preferred Echo to be older than 18. She seemed way too young to know what she wanted out of life, especially after having even the most mundane decisions taken away from her as a child.
However, I appreciated that the author didn't miraculously fix Echo's vocal cords, allowing her to speak for the first time. As Echo states: "I wouldn't be myself anymore if I'd be able to talk."
Warning: If you don’t like rh or age gap, don’t read it.
This took me by surprise, in such a good way. I really loved this fast paced story. It’s been a while since I read rh and totally missed the dynamic.
If you loved the Madison Kate series, I think you would like this story. The dynamic remind me of them. The difference this one is more insta-love which I know is not the preferable choice for readers, I personally don’t mind it a lot. However, if there was a little bit more built up, then it would have been a 5 star read easily.
I really liked the plot, the romance and their dynamic.
DFN at 41% it was unrealistic (i know it fiction) and was boring. I hated how the men knew what "their" Echo liked and what she can do. I hated that 2 out of the 3 brothers didn't want her to sign (she's mute) so she had to write on a dry erase board.
I mean I liked the concept. Normally don't see many age gaps, nor mute FMCs. I really wanted to like this book. Truly I did. However, Echo, the 18 year-old mute FMC, had too many unbelievable reactions to many of the events that downright irritated me. Many eye rolls. First, you have been walking days in the Alaskan wilderness barefoot without any injury or issues with your feet? Then you supposedly are an abused runaway but instead of being leery or wary of strange mountain men (33+ year olds) you just jump into sleeping next to one of them instead of taking the couch regardless of a fear of dogs. Seriously?! Her reaction to them was way too fast for this to have a paranormal reasons for it- like fated magic or whatever. Who does that? She was so accepting of EVERYTHING too fast.
I'm sorry this was hard to finish. Even the reveal with "reuniting" with her negligent parents is anticlimactic. Honestly the steamy parts were the best parts, but I need a good plot, believable or relatable characters addition to steam.

For what it is, I think it's great. Granted let me preface this first by saying, reverse harem is not really my thing and I shouldn't let that affects my rating but I think there can be a room for improvement here.
I'm not sure how you guys measure smut rating but this one was mildly spicy for me. The chemistry was there except for there was some rushed affections that wasn't explain well. Nowadays I'm a little bit more sceptical about insta love when I can't find a certain attribute or uniqueness regarding a character (except how she reminded them of their mother, which flashed me back to FSoG).
Although, I'm super interested in reading Genesis now, maybe that's more to my taste since partner sharing really isn't.
All in all, a nice rh book. I didn't see anything inherently wrong about it since everyone in this book is consensual and fine with this. And I also love her writing. Hence why I could see myself picking up more books from her.
This wasn’t bad. I was overall intrigued about Echo not being able to speak. When I started reading, I thought this was some Little Mermaid bs with the “falling in love with a girl who says nothing.” But I was delighted to see that Echo had character and DID in fact speak, so no Little Mermaid atrocity over here! (Yes I love Disney and the Little Mermaid, but seriously, the dude fell in love with a girl who did not say ANYTHING. Ugh)
One of the things that I noticed that bugged me more than I thought, was the language. Overall language has more impact to the characters and the plot than one may realize. I seriously was conflicted because Echo says she loves the three men, but then the language is so nonchalant that it seems like she doesn’t care what they do. Like she’s a tool for them to use and then throw away type of thing, but I really don’t think the author wanted that as her thoughts and feelings. The language used is just so passive that it rearranges the story’s intent quite a bit, in my opinion.
Character development. I thought the character development was in fact expected. I mean, nothing wrong with reaching that expectation, but it’s nothing new there. I do feel like the language ,or passive voice, used did in fact not help the character development, but actually hindered it.
Overall I didn’t mind this. It was interesting and it kept my interest throughout. I enjoyed it at times for sure. 3.8 star rating
P.S. Is this type of “sharing aspect” amongst brothers still incest? I mean aren’t they having sex together? Random but I seriously don’t know.
3.5 stars. I feel like Seven Rue (with K Webster) has the best plots for taboo/dark romances. This is not an exception, even if the initial idea is not unheard of.
Plot in pills: Three brooding and hot brothers, not really ashamed to share anything, taking care of a girl who has been running away from his violent step-dad into a wild forest in Alaska (I'm pretty sure is Alaska). Echo takes refuge inside their cabin, while Willem, Nordin and Summit are not there... but when the brothers come back in order to start hunting for bears and other animals, things begin to get complicated.
my thoughts:
Overall, I enjoyed this book, finished it in less than 7 hours (I'm usually a slow reader). it kept me entertained during my consistent nocturnal insomnia... and I couldn't put it down. I would have preferred some more insights on the brothers' lives, their past maybe. But other than that, I recommend it if you are looking for an easy but interesting read.
This one was a little weird. Since she was mute, her dialogue was written as thoughts, which could be a bit annoying. Also, it took forever for them to all have sex. In the beginning, I just thought it would be her and Summit because he seemed the nicest, but it was all three of the guys lol. There's not much else to say about the book.
Let me start of by stating that I do enjoy a good age-gap romance. My own husband is 18 years my senior. *raises hands up for a high five* eh? eh? anyone?
The author, Seven Rue, writes some pretty lovely and delicious stuff.
But this story .. I was teetering between 4 and 5 stars here. Now, our introduction to the main girl in the story, Echo (what a name right? loved it), kept me reading. I was like, "hello sweetness. Who are you? What happened? Tell me your story."
Next we are introduced to the brothers. Again, after our introductions .. I wanted to know more. I enjoyed their characters, I truly did. Each with their own individual personalities. I liked that. Hot to boot. Oh yea. Did I say they were brothers? woo wee.
Their time together was lovely. Delicious. I enjoyed how we came to know Echo intimately. What a girl. Or should I say, atta girl! you go get you some. Be free.
Now, here is where I find my stars teetering. I feel that there was a good amount of build up about her past and how she felt about her parents. We're getting some snippets. She kind of took us along with this build up, ya feel me? So once it came to light that a meetup was going to happen ... I was all for it. I wanted to see what unfolded. What blow up was going to happen. How are the boys going to be? Is this going to end in fists? what? I need to know. Let's do this.
side note here. I, myself, am all too familiar with family blow ups, growing up around domestic violence, those who eat away at your soul until you just want to drown in darkness .. never to return.
Moving forward here. Here comes this meet up, and I'm pumped. I, myself (backing up Echo) feel my fight or flight coming on, you know? (though with my own history, I'm all for fight first). So here it is... it's here.. it's...
anti-climatic? Luke warm? left in the microwave too long?
yo, I was expecting something .. but I wasn't expecting that. That to me ... felt like ... they slapped my wrist and I slapped theirs. I aint talking to you guys no more. Where are my boys at?
BUT, besides this anti-climax? (man, even saying it feels unsatisfying) .. the story was sweet. I loved the characters. I loved their LOVE. I loved Echo. She's still my girl. I feel for you sweets. And I'm happy you got your HEA.
I'd still read another of Seven Rue's books. But I also like to give people the benefit of the doubt. Hopefully this review helped somebody.
Echo is running away from her ass of her father abuses her and she ends up in a cabin eating and sleeping, which actually makes me think of goldilocks except she had copper hair and we have 3 bearded mountain men.
Ohhh men these are whew 🥵🥵🥵🥵 We got Summit the nice one who knows how to actually sign thank goodness, Willem the charming ish one, Nordin the broody grump. They help her and slowly develop to care for her. What i liked about this is they kept continuing to ask for her if she truly wants to be part of this relationship or is she sure she want to be in this cause they would definitely keep their their distance and go on their merry way.
Yes, they do have their alphahole tendencies, but later on they do their best to learn sign language. However, I do like why choose and all i was hoping for more intimate individual scenes and we just got one and i was thinking do they only do it together? Together?
And the whole reveal about her parents bleep 🤬 with no consequences to what was done to her? Im just disappointed with that part. Overall i did enjoy the book for the romance part with the HEA. What matters to characters get an HEA TBH.
🌲 mountain men 🌲mute fmc 🌲 lots of group scenes 🌲 slow burn 🌲 age gap 18 / 33/ 35/ 37?
Make that three hot brothers and one love starved (eighteen year old) lady.
I got so many warm fuzzies from reading ‘Echo’. I loved how Seven Rue avoided unnecessary angst. The characters were all distinct and likeable. There was no irritating wishy washy, indecisive behaviour. Some might say angst and wondering adds flavour to the story. I prefer stories which are strong enough to do without any extra spice. ‘Echo’ certainly does.
The plot was good. Echo herself was enviably awesome. The brothers were outstanding in both appearance and personality. The love scenes were hot enough to start a forest fire.
I loved this book.
If you liked Credence by Penelope Douglas, you will enjoy ‘Echo’.
"It all felt like a dream, but if this was one, I never wanted to wake up."
This book surprisingly comforted me in some very odd way. Cottage in the middle of the forest, hunters and a dog? What else could a girl dream of? Big Credence vibes here. Seriously, I didn't think I'd love it this much. I have been following Seven Rue for a while now and I love her, but I haven't read any of her books. This is the first and definitely not the last one. Taboos aren't really my thing, but I'll cope.
*SPOILER AHEAD*
One star minus because it ended with poly relationship. I was hoping she'd choose one of them. Poly relationships aren't my cup of tea at all. Just my opinion.
