Destroy Me was true to its name. By the end of this book, I had tears rolling down my face and I blame Jason Clarke for that.
I've listened to all the books in this series so far and Jason Clarke has done the last two while Stella Hunter has done all three but this one has been my favorite to listen to yet. While I loved book two Deceive Me, immensely there was just something about this book that really hit all the points for me.
Fionn “Irish” McCullough was shattered when Lyse betrayed his team. After years of her constantly being there she was on the run and after that kind of betrayal he only had plan. That was to get her back and to serve justice because not only had she betrayed his brothers she had betrayed him in deeply personal way. She was always this presence, and it wasn't until she did what she did that he realized she was much more than that.
Jason Clarke as a narrator is just phenomenal but with a deep Irish Brogue his narration was increased tenfold. The anticipation going into this story was immense but Jason's portrayal of Fionn was just above anything I could have ever expected.
Lyse Sheppard almost killed the man she loved. Not directly, but it was enough to have her on the run before him or his team could find her. She did what she thought she had to but that doesn't take away the pain so now she is doing what she can to make amends even if no one knows what she is doing. It isn't until someone Fionn loves very much is put in danger that she lets her location slip and now she knows he will be there for her before the end of the next day.
Stella Hunter outdid herself with Lyse. I've listened to more than a dozen narrations by Stella but there was just something so innocent and pure she added to Lyse's character that I fully expected to get from her after the brief interactions with her in the previous books. As Lyse's character developed and became stronger I felt that in Stella's narration and it really helped with the progression of the story.
Lyse & Fionn's story was filled with hate, passion, raw emotion and eventually love. This is my first series by Ella Sheridan but if all her characters have this much depth and feeling then I can't wait to see what else is to come not only in this series but in her other series.
(audiobook) I was so waiting for this book! With how the previous book ended–with Lyse, the nerdy hacker, setting up a bomb because some bad guy threatened Fionn and yet managing to save everyone, then running away–I was of course curious to see how Lyse and Fionn would end up together.
The story is set in Ireland. It was interesting, since half the book is written through Lyse’s eyes, and as an American, she’s a foreign observer who can explain the minute peculiarities to the reader.
It was clear that Lyse was in love with her Irish colleague, but Fionn the player wasn’t interested, and after the trick she pulled, he even claimed he hated her. And wanted to find her to make her pay. Not the most favorable way to start a relationship, but the perfect set up for an enemies to lovers romance.
This trope is one difficult to write, despite the old saying that love and hate are two sides of the same coin. Most of the time, what’s called love in the story is just lust. Here the author didn’t succeed completely, but it was better than most. Sure, there’s a strong attraction between Lyse and Fionn, and the forced proximity does help. But there was always respect and admiration between them too. The real challenge is to make Fionn understand why Lyse did what she did, and forgive her.
To spice up the story, a new threat appears, as well as a new bad guy. There’s a definite parallel between this new suspense and the one that ended the previous book. This time, instead of being on opposite sides–even without knowing it–Lyse and Fionn work together, with a common goal. Just another way to deepen their feelings. There was much less action than in book 2, but the few scenes were quick paced and exciting.
The narrators are equally good, and know how to bring characters to life. With the added bonus of accents. The duet style worked, with so many different characters that at least separating male and female helped. Check out this steamy romantic suspense narrated by two very pleasant voices.
Quickie
- Series: Southern nights: Enigma #3 (can be read as a standalone) - Hashtags: #romantic suspense #military romance #enemies to lovers #nerd #virgin #age gap - Triggers: violence - Main couple: Lyse Sheppard & Fionn McCullough - Hotness: 4/5 - Romance: 3/5 - + Lyse, the genius nerd, was an interesting character - – it felt more like lust than love
Destroy Me by Ella Sheridan is a gripping romantic suspense story full of action, danger and mystery. It kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end as the sequence of events unfold. I will admit that when the story first began I felt a little lost not having read or listened to the previous book in the series but as time went on I was easily able to catch up and figure out what I missed at the end of Deceive Me.
Lyse is on the run in Ireland and dealing with the aftermath of planting a bomb that nearly killed everyone she loves. She is an intelligent, computer genius and has been in love with Fionn from the moment they first met.
Fionn is loyal and protective of those he loves but he feels betrayed by Lyse after the bombing and the moment he learns that she is Ireland, he is off to his homeland to exact his revenge on her. But the moment he gets there his protective streak comes out and as his hate towards her softens and turns into love as he will do anything to keep her from being harmed by the Irish Mob.
The chemistry and connection between Lyse and Fionn was evident from the start. Even though Fionn hides behind his hate and revenge there is a layer underneath that is attracted to Lyse even if he won’t admit it to himself at first. The story is a bit of a slow burn but holy sexual tension! It was off the charts and when they connect for the first time, it was completely worth the build up and intensity!
The narration done by Jason Clarke and Stella Hunter is performed in duet style, and I enjoyed every moment. This is one of Jason’s best performances. His Irish brogue was fantastic. I love the power and emotion in his voice as his character experiences a variety of emotion from anger, revenge, lust and then love. The way he whispers terms of endearment had my heart melting! Stella Hunter voicing Lyse’s character was great as well. She portrays Lyse’s vulnerable, sweet side as well as her sassy and fierce side flawlessly. Together these narrators did such a phenomenal job bringing this story to life!
***Audiobook Review*** Destroy Me by Ella Sheridan was a gripping, thrilling, and steamy enemies to lovers romantic suspense story that captivated my attention from start to finish. This action packed story is book three in Ella’s Southern Nights Enigma series, and best listened to in order, however it could be considered a stand alone as well.
Jason Clarke and Stella Hunter narrate this audiobook in duet. Fionn and Lyse have quite the history considering Lyse was forced to cooperate with a madman in order to protect the man she loves. She has been on the run after betraying her team (including Fionn), so the emotional and sexual tension between these two is intense! Jason Clarke does an amazing job portraying Fionn’s conflicted, possessive, and determined sides in a swoon-worthy Irish accent! (The way he says “love” and “pretty one” will make you melt.) Stella Hunter conveys Lyse’s innocence, intelligence, and passions brilliantly in her performance. Both narrators also do an outstanding job voicing all the secondary characters in the story as well!
This book had the perfect touch of danger mixed with all the steam and love. If you love a romantic suspense story with a hunky alpha Irishman, a brainy charismatic female, all the sexual tension, holy hot steamy times, non stop thrills, devoted family, friends who have your back, and a heart pounding yet satisfying HEA, then you will adore Fionn and Lyse’s romance!
NOTE: This review is for the first three books of Ella Sheridan's Southern Nights: Enigma series - all three books will list this same review.
Ella Sheridan’s Southern Nights: Enigma series will take you on a roller coaster ride of suspense, action, and romance that will pull you in and keep you turning the pages.
The first three books are already out: Come for Me, Deceive Me, and Deny Me. They tell the stories of the Enigma Team of JCL Securities, a team of security experts.
We are introduced to the team in Come for me, about Dain and Olivia. This was actually a short story and could have used some more introduction to the team and the characters. As it is, we are dropped into the middle of a hostage situation, with Olivia being taken captive on the same day she learns she is pregnant. Can Dain free her without stepping on the toes of the authorities?
Deceive Me is longer and much more satisfying. Elliott Smith is a lone wolf, who has found a home she never expected with the team. But her social skills are limited, as shown by her putting their client flat on his back. Deacon is a security expert on his own, but most of his team has been decimated by an African pirate king, Diako, in revenge for their shooting Diako’s son during a raid on his human trafficking operation. Deacon is terrified for his four-year-old daughter, Sidney, and hires JCL to protect her. Elliott and Sydney take to each other immediately, and Deacon is drawn to the tiny but fierce warrior. Elliott is fascinated by Deacon as well, but she’s hiding a major secret. Can Deacon forgive her deception?
Trust is again featured in Destroy Me. Deacon’s surviving teammate, Fionn is obsessed with finding Lys Sheridan, the computer nerd who planted a bomb at their compound. Even though no one was injured in the resulting explosion, the betrayal bites deep. Lys, who was blackmailed into planting the bomb, has been in love with Fionn for years and plans to stay hidden. That changes when she discovers a threat to Fionn’s mother. Can Fionn overcome his distrust for his former teammate to protect his mother and keep Lys by his side?
All of the books feature strong, intelligent women, and capable, experienced alpha males who keep being surprised by the women in their lives. The final book in the series, Deny Me, just recently came out and is a fitting addition. A highly recommended series.
This thrilling and edgy romance keeps readers on the edge of their seats as Lyse and Fionn work through some intense emotional turmoil while trying to stop a bad guy from destroying Fionn’s family. Fionn and Lyse are strong characters that compel readers to read their story and dare them to remain detached. This romance is full of emotional turmoil due to the past and a situation that has Fionn caught between wanting revenge and giving in to the magnetic attraction that burns between them. The emotions that flow from the pages are intense and the author does a great of portraying the characters and their feelings which makes it really easy for readers to get to know the characters and understand just what they are going through.
The plot has a steady to fast pace and flows smoothly from the pages with thrilling suspense as not only Lyse and Fionn try to work out their relationship but as they try to keep Fionn’s mother out of the clutches of an enemy with no scruples. The story can be read as a standalone novel and readers have no trouble getting the gist of what happened in Lyse and Fionn’s past but do miss out on the full details of that event also the author does a great of hinting at previous events and character interactions that readers are certain to be curious and want to know more.
This was my first book by this author so it's possible I did myself a disservice by not starting on book 1. It took a little bit to catch up but by the time I did I was enjoying the narration so much I didn't even realize I was already there. It all just clicked for me about 1/3-1/2 way in and came together. The story had a good balance of action and exposition, fairly low angst with a nice amount of heat.
Jason and Stella did an excellent job with the narration 🥰 I have to say that #IrishJason 🔥🔥🔥 was just delightful and Stella was great as Lyse, but I think her performance as Siobhan was just wonderful. I loved the relationship between Fionn and his mom ❤️ and I think that grounded the story for me. Lyse and Fionn have great tension and the duet style narration plays it really well. You can feel the draw to each other and the hesitation due to their slightly chaotic and not yet settled past. I did feel like the wrap up was a little to easy, but it's hard to imagine how else the author could have worked around it. Overall I enjoyed the story but the narration was the star for me here.
I was really looking forward to Fionn & Lyse’s story after reading Decieve Me, the previous book in this series, where we got snippets of Lyse & Fionn’s budding relationship. This story was thrilling, captivating and steamy. I enjoyed every minute of it! The chemistry between Lyse and Fionn was intense. From the first moment he catches her at her apartment, Fionn & Lyse’ attraction to each other is palpable. You know you’re in for a steamy, passionate romance. The narration was everything in this book! Jason Clarke & Stella Hunter were incredible in this duet style narration. They brought this story to life and added to overall performance. Irish Jason was the best and by far 🔥🔥🔥. He had me hooked from the start; I couldn’t resist. Jason & Stella’s chemistry was phenomenal. They made this worth the listen. So happy they brought Fionn & Lyse story to life.
DESTROY ME was my first book by Ella Sheridan and I listened to the audio version – beautifully done in duet style by Jason Clarke – my favorite male narrator – and Stella Hunter, another of my favorites. Emotional and raw narration – in addition to Mr. Clarke’s Irish accent. Just … yum!
This book can be read as a standalone, though I’d probably have been immersed in the story faster had I read the first books as well. Nonetheless I fully enjoyed this captivating, steamy story. The chemistry between Lyse and Fionn was beautiful and intense. I’m looking forward to checking out more of this author’s works.
My heart went out to Lyse. The love she has had for years for Fionn was unreciprocated. He called her "batgirl" for heaven's sake. He did not see past her intelligence and nerdiness to notice that she was a woman with feelings, emotions and most of all love for him.
Fionn has tunnel vision and all he can see when he looks at Lyse is betrayal. She put him and his team in peril when she planted a bomb that had devastating effects in the aftermath of it. He could not forget or forgive Lyse. Fionn did not know all the facts about why Lyse did this, nor did he bother to ask her. All he wanted to do was make her suffer for her deed. When he sees her after 2 months, he is angry but when he looks into Lyse's eyes, really looks deep, everything changes between them.
Destroy Me has everything you could want in a book, suspense, action, danger and a sense that if you dig deep enough in the core of your being, you can find joy and love, even when it is staring you right in the face. The chemistry between this couple is captivating.
My heart was breaking for Lyse as she tried to make amends!
After being forced to cooperate with a madman in order to protect the man she loves, Lyse has spent the past two months on the run from the team she betrayed. She hides in the one place she knows Fionn won't ever look, but then she discovers a threat that's so much more important than protecting her own freedom.
Fionn is certain of two things: He can't ever trust Lyse again, and he needs her help to take down the threat to his family.
This gut-wrenching story gives us all the history of these two fascinating characters as well as the slow-building heat that allows Fionn to examine Lyse's actions through a new perspective.
It's a heartbreaking and heartwarming love story with a side of action and suspense. It was a real page-turner for me, captivating from start to finish. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
I have been waiting for Destroy Me by Ella Sheridan, since I devoured the last book in the Southern Nights Enigma series…and I was not disappointed!
Lyse betrayed Fionn by planting a bomb and betraying their team. Lyse did what she had to do to save Fionn, but it all backfired. Now, she’s in hiding. But the sexy Irish, isn’t letting her go. He’s on her tail and when he finally gets word where she is, Fionn’s past and his future is at stake.
I loved Lyse…so much and I enjoyed Fionn finally waking up and seeing Lyse, for who she really is and recognizing how much she feels for him. Emotional, unforgettable, and exciting, Destroy Me is well-worth the read!
**Audiobook review** Destroy Me is the 3rd book in the absolutely gripping Southern Nights Enigma series. This exciting romantic suspense story arc sucked me in from the very beginning of book 1 and has carried me straight through. Fionn and Lyse have a complex relationship, to say the least. The bomb she planted (albeit under duress) in book 2 very nearly killed Fionn, the man she has loved for years. Now in hiding, Lyse is doing what she can using her super-nerd skills to make amends while torturing herself by watching Fionn from afar to make sure he is safe. Meanwhile, Fionn is determined to hunt her down so she can be punished for her deception/betrayal. Fionn has the opportunity to see her in a new light now, once he lets go of his anger. It’s no surprise that their explosive chemistry takes over when they finally let go. I may have bookmarked and listened to chapter 22 multiple times - for reasons. Consider yourself warned that it is definitely NSFW and you shouldn’t be in a waiting room (like I was the first time). Holy toe curling inappropriate-noises-in-a-waiting-room-inducing decking dirty eargasms!!! Stella and Jason killed me in that chapter. Yowza!
Destroy Me hits the ground running with exhilarating romantic suspense, loads of regret & turmoil, and the building up on a new love that just bleeds through in the brilliant performances by Jason Clarke and Stella Hunter in Duet. Jason’s Irish accent absolutely knocked my socks off - Wow! They work so well together in duet, and the editing is very precise. You can just lose yourself in the story and enjoy the performances. Needless to say, this is another one that goes on my 5-star list for very good reason. I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book!
I received an #AdvancedListenerCopy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Another exciting instalment in the Southern Nights series and this time it’s Fionn, the Irish man who enjoys his women and has a score to settle with another woman who literally blew his world apart. Lyse has been in hiding for months, settling overseas and making friends but she’s on a mission, her own mission and it involves Fionn’s mom. When Lyse gets Fionn’s attention back in the U.S. he comes barreling to Ireland to bring Lyse back to the U.S. to face justice but he isn’t prepared for the real reason she allowed herself to get caught. As they try to figure out how to protect his mom, Fionn finally opens his eyes and accepts what has been a long time coming with Lyse...will it be too late. Oh my my my my what a read with a sweet slow burn between these two that kept me on edge from the beginning and the steam...fan time and glass of ice needed to cool down. I loved how both of them came to terms with everything and that there was no running away and hiding from the feelings, facing it head on and both growing up and maturing into the relationship. There was suspense, some action and a mystery that is solved bringing answers to a question that had been missing for years. Not only that but the author, seamlessly, switches the narrative to an Irish accent when Fionn is featured, so much so I could hear Fionn’s voice and accent in my head like he was right there. The author doesn’t miss a step, the words and story flowing beautifully and showcases her talent for writing in this book.
Lyse Sheppard cares about what happens to some people she’s really close to. Fionn McCullough is a very focused man. One seems like a powder keg and one a match. These are two emotional people at opposite sides of the spectrum – one thinks with their head and the other with their heart.
This is a story that will keep you on the edge of your seats. There are actually two stories going on here. We have the mystery and suspense of what this group is trying to solve and then we have what’s going on between Fionn and Lyse. My problem was which side of this book I liked better. I liked the way this group worked together to solve an issue that involved all of them. There a couple of times where I would have loved a chance to look over Lyse’s shoulder as she did what she was good at – it fascinated me. I also liked the building heat that was growing between Fionn and Lyse.
I had no trouble starting this series here. In no way did I feel lost or that I was missing something. The author was good in her job by creating characters that you will want to know more about. How did they come to be? Where is this group going? How many books do I need to catch up on? And then I have an ending where the heat with our couple was still building, so where do they go from there? Will I see them again? I guess I’ll just have to wait to find out.
I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
Destroy Me Southern Nights Enigma, Book 3 By: Ella Sheridan Narrated by: Jason Clarke, Stella Hunter
First, I need to say I absolutely love his series! Ella Sheridan writes the perfect balance of romance and suspense. They are stories you can sink your teeth into and lose your heart in the process. This is Lyse and Fionn's story, and it's fabulous. Lyse had decisions to make. And now she has to live with the consequences. Planting a bomb that almost killed everyone she loves, as well as the Fionn, the man who owns her heart was a sacrifice she had to make. Fionn doesn't see it that way. He doesn't know the reasons why, but he knows she has betrayed him and the team. With a tip as where she is, he is going back to Ireland to face her. But he just may not find what he expects. Feelings, danger, and unexpected targets create an amazing suspense filled love story that will keep you on the edge. Sheridan has a winner with this edition to the Southern Nights: Enigma series!
With narrators like Jason Clarke and Stella Hunter, we know we are in for a treat with this audio. Clarke comes in with an Irish brogue that is intoxicating. He brings in every emotion Fionn feels, from his anger to confusion to love. Amazing. Lyse is quite the character, and Hunter nails her. The intensity, the love, the bravery, it's all there for our ears. I loved it! I could not have been cast better.
Destroy Me by Ella Sheridan (Southern Nights: Enigma 3) Narration by Jason Clarke and Stella Hunter.
Wow that title is perfect. This book destroyed me several times how Fionn treats Lyse. I almost cried several times. My heart was in my throat for most of the beginning especially. I felt like Fionn would realize that she was just protecting him when she fell from grace for her actions in the bombing.
I had the shock of tears a few times and felt like slapping him upside his head. Then when he finally lets her in and gives in to his attraction to her and lets nature take it’s course. When they finally give in to their mutual attraction they are explosive together. I love this series so full of suspenseful moments and emotions that had me feeling every little thing.
Loved the family interaction and how even how the team rallies to face the evil together and stronger.
I honestly could listen to this audiobook over and over again with the brilliant acting by Jason and Stella. I just sighed typing that. That Irish brogue that Jason does as well as Stella’s Chavonne’s brogue too( spelling on Fiona’s mom while listening to an audiobook hopefully it is close to the spelling)
This series is action filled and each book and couple unique in their own right. This book really sucked me in, in an emotional awesome way. Loved it!
I was really nervous and excited at the same time for Fionn and Lyse's story after the events that happened in the previous books. What happened was what Lyse had to do as she has no option but no one knows the reason behind her Betrayal and after she ran away, all it did was confirm her guilt.
Now, Fionn is searching for her but without any results. Being the best Hacker gives lyse definetly an edge but what Fionn doesn't know is that lyse equally has eyes on him and honestly I was in awe and fascinated at how innocent Lyse might be but she had skills that were go good and dangerous at the same time that she could do anything like keep watch or get information all from her desk.
But lyse has good intentions and it helps that she was watching over when Fionn learns about the danger his mom is in.
This one was another action filled, thrill filled ride as Fionn and the team with lyse search for the one man who might behind all the danger to his mom. As there's huge sum of money involved and a dangerous person who would do anything, harm anyone to have it. Along with that Fionn tries to fight his attraction to the smart but innocent lyse as her Betrayal really hurt him and yet can't seem to get her out of his mind.
If you want your romance with suspense and heaps action, then this series is a must read for sure. Loved this one. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I absolutely love Ella Sheridan’s writing and was thrilled to learn this series was being recorded for audio! Even more when Stella Hunter and Jason Clarke were narrating.
Destroy Me takes up where Deceive Me leaves off. Lyse, still very much in love with Fionn, is in hiding in Ireland after blowing up a portion of the Global First compound and keeping an eye on her former team…especially Fionn. When Fionn discovers she’s in the same town where his mam is hiding, he’s off to Ireland and the “fun” begins! The story is full of suspense, intrigue, action and HEAT! Lyse can’t hide her feelings from Fionn, and while she’s no doormat, she does everything she can to make amends. Once Fionn decides to forgive her, it’s full on alpha pursuit and it’s GOOD!
The narration is AMAZING! Stella Hunter expertly portrays Lyse as the geeky, vulnerable, smart and determined computer genius to perfection. Her ability to convey emotion and vulnerability, steel and heart, brings Lyse to life. Jason Clarke…Irish Jason Clarke…on, my! The accent was spot on, coupled with the gravely voice was everything. The audio was more than I expected and, imo, the best in the series. Give it a listen, you won’t regret it!
This installment in the Southern Nights series from Ella Sheridan focuses on Fionn, the broody Irishman with serious trust issues, and Lyse, the woman that tore his team and his world apart. If you've read or listened to the prior books in this series, you know that Lyse seemingly betrayed the entire team, and the consequences were dire. Now Fionn is determined to seek revenge and right the wrongs as he perceives them. By Lyse has a reason for her actions, one that is closer to Fionn than he realizes.
This was a really emotional story. Fionn's anger and betrayal guides his actions for a lot of this book, to the point that you wonder if he and Lyse will ever get their happy-ever-after. Their road is long, hard, and full of angst and emotion. But it's worth the journey at the end.
The narration of this book, by Jason Clarke and Stella Hunter, is amazing. Jason Clarke's accent work, his emotion, his grit, his anger - all were so perfect for this performance. Stella Hunter balanced Lyse's determination and emotion so well, and you really understood her motivation and her fear that spurred her actions. These are two of the finest narrators out there, and they are perfect for this romantic suspense.
Destroy Me is the third book in the Southern Nights: Enigma series and follows Fionn and Lyse's story, who we first met in Deceive Me.
Lyse is on the run and hiding from GF after planting the bomb that hurt her colleagues. She's in the one place she knew no one would look for her, but when she finds something disturbing on her surveillance she knows her time is up.
Fionn is obsessed with finding Lyse after she betrayed them, but shes the best at what she does and there have been no leads. That is until they finally trace her to the one place from Fionn's past that no one should know about.
I absolutely loved this book! It was fast paced with plenty of action and suspense that progressed smoothly and drew me in from the very start.
And Lyse and Fionn are my favourite couple so far in this series! I loved the chemistry between them! Everything She's done has been because of her love for him, even if he never knew it. And when Fionn finally realises just why he's so angry with her the tension explodes and it is HOT!
This is a series of standalone romances, and although each couple gets their HEA I would definitely recommend reading them in series order for full enjoyment of the series.
This was my first Ella Sheridan book and it will not be my last. Not only was the story captivating, I listened to the audio version and Jason Clarke and Stella Hunter had me hanging on from the beginning.
Lyse is on the run. Forced into doing something unthinkable, she’s fled to Ireland to escape the charges she is facing in the US. But she can’t help but keep track of the one man she was trying most desperately to save. Watching Fionn go about his life is heart-wrenching. But she must make sure he stays safe.
When Fionn discovers Lyse is in the same small town he has hidden his mother in, he is beyond enraged. It’s bad enough that Lyse tried to kill him and the others, but now she’s after his mother. Or is she?
Fionn wants to stay mad at her. Wants to hate her. But he can’t. When she’s hurt trying to protect him and his mother, his feelings toward her start to change. He slowly lets go of the hate but still doesn’t want to succumb to the real feelings bubbling in him.
As they get closer to solving the decades old mystery of where his dad hid all the money he stole, he finally must admit how he really feels. But what can he do about it? His job is in the states and she’s not safe there.
This is book three in the Southern Nights: Enigma series. This story follows along from Book Two, where Fionn was looking for tech geek Lyse Shepherd, both employees of JCL Security. You could probably read this as a standalone but might feel that you're missing part of the backstory. The story begins two months later; Fionn has been searching for Lyse to bring her to justice. Lyse continues to watch her former co-workers but Fionn in particular. Lyse may be brilliant, but she is still inexperienced and awkward. When she reaches out to Fionn to warn him of an urgent situation, she knows she may be facing imprisonment or death. I really enjoyed the plot in this story. While there were lots of things going on, they were very interconnected and it all made sense. We met new characters, revisited characters from previous books, and watched the main characters grow and change. Lyse absolutely comes into her own as a woman, and Fionn's gradual love for Lyse was a pleasure to follow. Looking forward to whatever is next from this talented author.
I am voluntarily leaving my opinion of a review copy of this book.
Lyse Sheppard is a computer genius who was forced to do something that nearly broke her, and nearly killed the man she loves and his partners. Fionn McCullough has been obsessed with finding her since that terrible day. His anger is taking over his life. When a tiny clue might lead to finding her he’s off to the land he was born and grew up in, Ireland. He won’t forgive her, he doesn’t want to hear her lies, he just wants to know why! But, finally finding her, he finds his anger has changed, slowly but surely she is getting under his skin and into his heart. Lyse has been watching them all in the eyes of her computer, and has befriended Fiona’s Mom in the process, although his mom doesn’t know the connection between them. A dark danger is facing them all, and it takes all involved, including Fionn‘s team from the US and Lyse to find a way through it. Fionn finally realizes that Lyse is who he has been waiting for, he’s fallen in love, and doesn’t want to leave her, but he must to keep her safe. Lyse has another plan. Lots of action, emotional roller coaster and oh so sexy. The whole Enigma series will keep you on the edge of your seats, and fanning yourself from the heat! I highly recommend this emotional and exciting read. Review on http://www.tbqsbookpalace.com on Dec.14th.
Third book in this series and can be read alone but it helps to know some other characters: Lyse is a computer expert and she was forced to do something terrible which almost killed the man she loved. Fionn is now bound and determined to find her and bring her to justice. When he gets a clue that she may be in Ireland where he is from, he quickly heads home. What he doesn't know is that she was leaving him hints to find her. She has befriended his mother and hides out there as that would be the last place he would look. But as he uncovers her whereabouts and learns more of why she did what she did, his heart starts melting and he's slowly realising how much he cares for her. Great story and great build up to the romance. Mystery/suspense with these two learning more about each other and learning to trust and open their hearts. Best story I've read by this author yet! Thoroughly enjoyed this and definitely recommend. Fast paced and entertaining. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Audiobook review: This book was so so so good. I’m sure this book would have been great just reading it. But it truly was an experience to listen to it. Stella Hunter was fantastic as always, especially in the parts where she used an Irish accent. Jason Clarke was on another level with his Irish accent.
My heart hurt for Lyse at the beginning. She truly loved Fionn and it hurt her so much to see him with so many other women. She knows she messed up with the bomb situation but she honestly felt she had no choice and would do absolutely anything to protect Fionn.
Fionn is determined to find Lyse and bring her back to face her punishment. He doesn’t think he can ever forgive her for what she did. He refuses to listen to her so she can explain why she did was she did.
Soon they are put into harms way by someone looking for revenge from a years old heist. Will Fionn be able to put his anger aside to protect those that he loves, even when he can’t admit his true feelings?
I’m loving this series on audio and can’t wait for the next one.
This series is always one that will keep you on the edge of your seat. This is Fionn and Lyse's story and what a story it is. While Lyse has been in love with Fionn since she first saw him, he doesn't know what he is feeling. He does know one of the feelings, it's anger, because she set the bomb that almost killed him and his friends. He has to find her and bring her back to stand trial. And to find out why she did it. They both will learn about his past and why she did what she did. Will it bring them together or push them apart forever. This story is full of suspense, sexy and lots of emotion that will draw you in until the very end. I love Ella Sheridan, her writing style is one that keeps me coming back for more. And that cover is super hot too. **I received a free copy of this book to read and review and this is my honest opinion**
Oh my goodness, what an AMAZING book.. Ella is making it harder and harder on me to choose one book boyfriend, I am beginning to think I am turning into a polygamist. I started this book with so much hope and excitement for Lyse and Fionn.. they were finally getting a book!! Unfortunately, there were times I wanted to climb into the book and give Fionn a roundhouse 'klap' into last week at his stupidity, ego and stubborness with Lyse but in the end, Fionn caught a wake up and forgave Lyse (YAY!!!!) and they kicked butt in the process.
Ella, yet another fantastic book and I thank you most gratefully for bestowing your creative genius upon us. You have put your heart and soul into this book and just WOW!!!

Captivating enemies to lovers second chance romance with a side of thrilling suspense and sexy Irish brogue ! My heart was breaking for Lyse as she tried to make amends! After being forced to cooperate with a madman, Lyse has spent the past two months on the run from the team she betrayed. Thoroughly enjoyed this heartwarming love story . I voluntarily reviewed an ALC of this book.
I loved Lyse and Fionn's story. It was full of emotional angst and unrequited love. Lyse was put in a position that gave her no quarter and she made a decision that she knew would destroy her life. The storyline was amazing - full of drama, suspense and passion. The author gave the reader a bird's eye view of what it felt like to be on a mission and it felt real. The story played out beautifully. Fionn's mom was awesome and a wonderful addition to the story. I really love how this author not only gives us a memorable story but also a compelling and entertaining one as well. I can't wait for the next book from this author. I hope to see more of these and other characters from previous books again.
