Ramble time. 3.5 actually, but I guess 4 rather than 3. I liked the first part, against Varden. The next part is more or less the first half of the war against Brittania, and the author says he wants to wrap it up by the next volume. As usual I like the writing style and description of the tactics and interactions between the characters.

I just can't bring myself to enjoy arrogant characters, which basically seemed to be the whole seventh army's generals and commanders. They do get their... due rewards by the end of the volume, but some traits just can't be changed, and either way it leaves an unpleasant taste. I see why it's necessary, and it proves that Regis is a better strategist and Altina a better leader, but that doesn't mean I'll enjoy reading it. Well, it's a personal sort of preference.

And although Oswald's tactics are cool and all (his perspective is neat too) I just don't like his or the Queen's personalities so I can't vibe with it. Altina and Regis are just vastly more appealing, to me, that's all.

Finally the story got back to it's normal rhythm. Although they lost the battle (Due to a childish strategist), but the next book will spread Regis Auric name as "The Legendary Strategist That Defeated High Britannia" across the continent at the very best.

Can't wait to read it ASAP.

Seriously.... best LN I have ever read!!! Really on par with shield-bro [Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari]... or maybe even better!
