A thief.
A bad tattoo.
And a Forever-Dom to the rescue.

Michael “Mac” McNally is drifting. Finished with the Navy, finished with his marriage, Mac is sleeping on the couch of his good friend, James Logan, while he tries to figure out the rest of his life.

Brenna “DirtyGurl” Truelove is lost. Floundering after a series of not-relationships, Brenna can’t find satisfaction in scenes with one-night Doms or in Missing Ink, the tattoo business she’s worked so hard to build.

When the drifter and the lost-girl come together over a bad tattoo, can they build something that lasts among the wreckage of his marriage and her trust in Doms? And can they catch the thief before he destroys Missing Ink?

Missing Ink is live and I'm so excited to unleash Brenna and Mac's story into the wild!

Here's a scene that I just couldn't fit into the final version but I still love the interaction:

Emily hands me a cup of pale, steaming liquid.
“What the fuck? I know you own coffee,” I object.
“Tea’s better for you,” Emily says intractably.
“Bitch, are you sure you’re submissive?”
“Call her a ‘bitch’ again and you’ll spend the rest of the day in the back yard without any clothes,” Logan growls from the next room. “The weather doesn’t recognize safe words.”
Dayum.
Emily and I huddle over our mugs, trying not to laugh.
“He really does have Dom hearing,” I whisper to her.
“Batman Daddy,” Emily agrees.
“Sorry, sir,” I call out.
“Behave yourself around my little girl,” Logan responds. “She picks up any of your sammie ways and Mac won’t be the only one beating your ass tonight.”
“Why does everyone think I’m a smart-assed masochist?” I whisper to Emily. “It’s like they don’t even know me.”
She lifts an eyebrow at me. “It’s a total mystery. You’d better answer. Daddy gets growly if you ignore him.”
“Yes, sir,” I call back. To Emily, I whisper, “He gets growly?”
Emily smothers a giggle. “You have no idea. What’s Mac like as a Dom?”
"Evil." I smile into my tea. “Playful. You know how you say your daddy plays with you? It’s like that. He calls me his ‘snuggleslut’.”
“That’s really cute.” Emily grins like a maniac. “When Daddy calls me ‘baby doll,’ I go all melty inside. Does ‘snuggleslut’ make you melty?”
“No way.” I roll my eyes.
Emily giggles. “Totally does.”
“Like ice-cream in August,” I admit. “In the Sahara.”
Emily giggles and I join her, only my laugh is way cooler and more dignified than her giggling.

Missing Ink is a lengthy read but time simply flew by when I read it. Brenna/aka DirtyGurl had intrigued me when we saw her in Daddy PI 2.0. though I wasn't sure if I really liked her or not, though I did love her interactions with Theo. I totally adored her in this book and am glad she didn't end up with him, because Brenna deserved someone much more honourable than he appears to be.

This is a book of two halves, albeit with a lot of overlap between them. The first part of the story focuses mainly on Bren and Mac's emerging relationship where, without a shadow of a doubt, EJ Frost completely and utterly convinced me of both the depth and validity of their feelings for one another. The second part focused on several story elements, with the main one being mystery/suspense based.

I totally adored both Bren and Mac, neither was perfect and both had troubled pasts. In fact, for me, Brenna's teenage wrongs felt more understandable, with Mac's confessions being the more disturbing in nature. That said, by the time we hear about the sins of his youth, we have learnt what a truly caring and honourable man he now is. His detailed observation of Bren's reactions, his understanding of her needs, his desire to meet those needs helped him steal my heart.

This felt like a genuine relationship and a real couple. Their dynamic evolved organically, believably and, best of all, realistically. I adored their "real talk" times, I swooned when Mac gave Brenna a safeword for when she felt emotionally overwhelmed. Just the fact that he knew how best to treat her, but didn't ever presume he knew better than her. The author doesn't waste time "telling" us how much this pair cared for one another, she showed us continually through all their words, thoughts, deeds and actions. There are a wide variety of BDSM/play scenes, all of which felt integral to the plot and character growth. The sex scenes never felt superfluous, in part because they were an important part of building the D/s dynamic between Mac and Brenna.

A well rounded cast of supporting characters and their interactions with one or both of the mc's really added depth to the story. I always feel that you only truly get to know a character when you see them in scenes with friends and work colleagues etc. I just felt this had a really good balance of intimate scenes, friends and family scenes and plot building scenes. When I reflect back there are just so many different elements to this story, so much that happened, so many different threads all carefully woven together into an amazing book.

Missing Ink can easily be read stand alone, though it's very much worth getting to know Logan and Emily in their books! There were also some very minor little story strands that were left hanging loose. Nothing pertaining to Brenna and Mac's relationship, but rather little segues into the plots of future books. I'm completely hooked on this series and am very much looking forward to where the series will head next.

After Daddy PI,i was waiting for an excuse to go back, because i loved Emily and her Daddy Logan.
So,when EJ offered me the ARC of Missing Ink i nearly ripped it from her hands, because i really needed this story.

Brenna feels lost, playing at the club doesn’t give her what she needs anymore.
And the Doms she plays with don’t seem to care enough to see they’re not giving it.
Talking about it with Emmy helps her understand why,but what to do about it?
How to find someone that makes an effort, someone that likes her for who she is,and wants more?
Until she meets Mac at Logan’s,and they start talking....
When Mac asks her to do something about his ugly mermaid tattoo, she finds there’s something about him that draws her in,but what?

Mac is drifting after leaving the Navy, feeling lost as to what to do with the rest of his life.
When Logan offers him to live with him and Emmy,he reluctantly accepts.....for a while.
Just until he figures out a way to get his daughter Naomi back on her feet....and away from the bad influence her mother has on her.
Meeting Brenna, and seeing the sadness surrounding her,he finds himself wanting to do something about that.
And once he starts,he knows there is so much more to this girl than she shows the world.
Before long,he also knows she needs someone to have her back, someone in her corner, one that will stay....

When trouble starts at Missing Ink,Brenna’s tattoo parlor, she finds she has friends that want to help.
And Mac is one of them, not only that,he’s making it clear he wants more.
He wants something......permanent.
Sharing their history helps the trust that’s already there grow even stronger.

But there are still problems to overcome.....
He ís older,he dóes have a past that haunts him.
She is an independent girl, one that relies only on herself because of bad experiences.
But they dó have chemistry, from the start.
Is that enough to build a future? Together?

This story focussed mostly on how the relationship grows, just like Emmy’s and Logan’s did.
And it was done with the same tender care.
Showing how they deal with their past, and what they do in the present to have a future to look forward to.

What i also loved, was catching up with Emmy and Logan, seeing them as an integral part of the story.
In short,it was a story i enjoyed very much!

Going back to DirtyGirl and Mac’s beginning is still só good, and i had trouble saying goodbye to their story….
Luckily, they return in Blunts Tales, and we get to see them in other stories in the Daddy P.I. Casefiles series.
That’s another thing that makes this series so wonderful, you get to see everyone throughout.
You get to see how they’re all doing, what’s happening áfter their hea.
In the meantime, after Missing Ink,i have that happy smile that EJ Frost leaves me with after each story is finished.
That warm feeling, that full heart, and a longing to live in that beautiful world……

Tired of emotionally unfulfilling relationships, Brenna just wants someone to love her for her. Mac has a lot of chaos behind him, and some messy personal relationships he’s still dealing with, but blue-haired, snuggle-hungry Brenna touches something in him he can’t ignore. There are a lot of challenges keeping them apart, but if they can overcome all those obstacles, they might find something truly beautiful.

I was totally blindsided by the deep emotion in this story, and the inventiveness of Frost’s sexual situations. It’s a delicious story that stands well by itself, despite being part of a larger series. The characters of the Daddy P.I. Casefiles books are prominent, but the focus is squarely on Brenna and Mac and their developing relationship. It’s not an easy journey for either of them, but it’s a great read to follow along their paths. The BDSM aspects of the story are well-drawn and evocative, as well as being creative and, without a doubt, a centerpiece of the book. I found myself savoring each word of the story, loving getting to know both Brenna and Mac, and loving the happiness they both find at the end of book. The other characters and the outside world that Brenna and Mac live in are alive and colorful and add a lot to the story as well. This is a great story, and I’m truly excited about reading the rest of the Daddy P.I. Casefiles series.

Brenna really resonated with me. She really was in a difficult place, and all she wanted was someone to love her. I really liked her journey, because she learned more about herself too, and really accepted herself.

On the surface, Mac and Brenna together doesn't make sense. Mac is an older career military recently turned civilian and Brenna is a young, dreadlocked tattoo artist. What they do have in common? A complex scarred inner landscape, a shared kink, and chemistry. Mac is a Dom without a sub and Brenna is a house sub at an exclusive kink club; Blunt's,

If you have read the other books in the Daddy PI series (and if you haven't, you really REALLY need to), you will recognize almost all of the characters in the story, and more importantly, see them from a different angle than in previous books. Brenna's interaction with Cappa (another house sub at Blunt's) regarding Logan hurt my heart at the same time that it made me aggressively protective of Logan and Emily. There were times I wanted to throat punch Ten and especially Theo. I fell even more in love with Logan and Emily.

It was interesting to see Mac and Brenna's relationship spark, develop, stumble and right itself within the bubble of familiar characters and backdrops as well as the expanded environment of Brenna's life revolving around her beleaguered tattoo shop and Mac's familial turmoil involving his ex-wife and troubled daughter. Although those aspects absolutely did impact how Mac and Brenna's relationship evolved, I loved that the two of them communicated. I have to wonder how much of thread of clear communication was due to the D/s dynamic of their relationship. I just loved that it is so different from how the same conflict would have been dealt with in a different genre. Despite Brenna's painful past, particularly with Doms, her choice to make herself vulnerable and open to Mac made me love her strength. As much as I love Mac, I feel like the overarching theme was Brenna's growth and working through her pain.

Outside of their relationship there are several story threads that are woven in dealing with someone trying to sabotage Brenna's shop and Mac's nightmare of an ex-wife and his daughter's drug issues. I loved how alpha Mac and Logan got when it came to Brenna's problem, but I loved even more that when it comes to the physical, Brenna saves herself. Nothing like a self saving damsel. I am hoping that some of the other threads will be dealt with in upcoming books (HINT!)

As an aside, there is quite a bit of Logan and Emily (YEA!) in this book and you can see how their relationship has deepened since the last book, and there are quite a few changes that I hope will be explored in their next book (HINT AGAIN).

Overall, another solid entry in the series. I didn't think that I could possibly connect with another couple the way I did with Logan and Emily, but this author somehow pulled it off. I loved Mac and Brenna together, although Logan and Emily are always going to be my OTP.

Wonderful BDSM story

This is a wonderful story it has the two main characters of Daddy P. I. 2.0 in this story as secondary characters and two characters that were introduced in earlier books in the series are the main characters of this story. So we have Mac who is close friend of Logan and we have Brenna who is a close friend of Emily who happens to be Logan's submissive little girl. Mac and Brenna hit it off right away and they make a great couple. Brenna is the owner of the tattoo shop Missing Ink and the story involves her shop. I like tattoos and I like reading about Tattoo shops and tattooing so I was interested in this story from the beginning. The love between Mac and Brenna is really involving one gets right into it and it is pretty steamy too. I am confident that you will enjoy this story like I did, do not hesitate you will not be disappointed.

This book is the total embodiment of “You never know what someone else is going through or has been through”. Dirtygurl is a total badass for a very good reason. & Mac is a total hero. This book gives you all the feels, so keep tissue handy and be ready to get weird looks from those around you. You won’t be able to help it.

This book was everything. I was totally enthralled by Brenna in the other books in the series, so to get inside her head was just so amazing. I just wanted to reach out and wrap her in a hug. And Mac was the perfect man for her. I love these two together, and I can't wait to see what comes next

The couple: Mac and Brenna

Romance genre: bdsm
Series: Daddy P.I. Casefiles
Length: 486 pages

Plot: We met Brenna (DirtyGurl) in the previous books of the series. She is a house submissive at the club that Logan belongs to, and has become good friends with Emmy. Mac meets her through Logan and is instantly intrigued. Brenna, while not immune, is not quick to jump on him. She has a lot going on - she runs a business on her own, she has her position at the club, there's whatever she has going on with some of the Doms at the club, plus there's her past, not just the people but the legacy as well. But Mac is willing to plow through all of that. He has his own demons. He's fresh out of the Navy and fresh from signing his divorce papers. He's looking for a place to belong, and while Logan's club has some appeal, that's not all he wants. But Brenna may be part of what fulfills him in his new life. That's if they can stick together through white supremacists, bad exes, tattoos that should never have existed, turmoil in the club, and some very strange MCs.

Character development: Brenna is the most adorable grump ever. I love it when Emmy makes something for her or does something for her, and her first response is "I hate this." Cracks me up because Emmy just says, "I know you do" and keeps going. Emmy's a treasure like no other. But Brenna's no slouch - she is a good friend to so many people and doesn't seem to realize how much people care for her. And that's where Mac comes in. He sees Brenna - really sees her. He can tell that she doesn't recognize her own worth and he's determined to show her what it means to be adored, in whatever way works best for them. He loves her "quirkiness" - that refusal to adhere to the norm. She has a style and a life that suits her, and Mac slides right into that without any judgment or need to change her. She gives him the same back; Brenna definitely doesn't judge people, but she is a little hesitant to give her heart because she knows that Mac isn't a casual fling.

One of the most endearing parts of this story is the relationships between Brenna and people other than Mac: her friendship with Emmy, her developing friendship with Logan, her relationship with the other subs at the club, her connections to her past, the way she provides for her employees. She's such a lovely person, and it's a shame she hasn't received the recognition she deserves in the past. But Mac's here now to take on some of that care that should have always been hers:

“Mrrsrr,” I grunt, right on the edge of sleep, cuddling as close as I can to his comforting warmth and Mac-scent. He chuckles, warm and low. “That’s right, snuggleslut. Take it. Take all the snuggles.” Even as I slide down into a sex-coma, that makes me laugh.

Why are the house submissives unhappy? This is a question that has been brewing over the course of this book and the previous one. Why are the subs at the club struggling - feeling unhappy and looking for help from somewhere besides club scenes? I think I partly know the answer. There are good Doms at the club, definitely, but a lot of those good ones are in exclusive relationships (like Logan - take note, Lucy - he's in an exclusive relationship!). Some of the ones left, like Ten, don't seem to be that interested in being good Doms (I think Logan and a few others need to do a clean sweep of the club rolls). If being a good Dom includes being aware of what your sub needs, then that's where everything has gone wrong. For several of these Doms, in some of the scenes we've read, but mostly in the things the subs are saying, doing, or thinking, we can see that it's about the Dom doing what they want - getting theirs, so to speak - and the sub isn't a factor in that equation. The dismissal of the sub and their needs is done in the guise of the Dom being in charge and knowing what to do, but that's not what's happening. The house subs are being seen solely as employees and not also as sexual/kink partners. I think it's a good covert lesson - the contrast between a good Dom like Logan who spends time thinking about a scene and what a sub needs and a bad Dom like Ten who ignores safewords and pushes his subs past what is okay:
She tucks her face into my neck. “Sir, you said you’re going to help Master Logan with the house subs. You should know that the house subs haven’t always been believed about stuff like this. Sometimes with reason. A couple of the subs have a bad habit of crying wolf to get out of punishments. But it is a two-way street. Not all of the Doms are great about safe words.”
“Has Ten ignored your safe word before?”
“No, Sir. I wouldn’t ever have scened with him again if he did. But other subs haven’t been so lucky. I know Cappa and Shannie have talked with Master Logan about it already.”

This series has quickly become one of my favorites and I look forward to seeing what happens next!

Blue roses for Valentine’s Day anyone?

First of all: Brenna and Mac 4ever!
Alright tucker in for this review because it could be a long one. The short of it is, this book hit me all in the feels. At first I was mad because I wanted another Logan and Emily book. Then I figured oh it’s going to be short because it’s a 2.5 novel, but I was wrong. This was long, thick, and juicy. There are so many elements I loved. I loved that Mac isn’t a daddy dom. I already compared him enough to Logan so the switch up was awesome. I also loved Brenna. She was so different from Emily and many characters had misconceptions about her. I loved the contrast. Dreadlocks, tattoos, piercings, pain slut. While Emily was a pain slut as well Brenna hit me differently and I’m still reeling. She was badass. Which means it took a very strong dom to take care of her. Also AGE GAP! Did y’all catch that? I did! Things I loved seeing normalized in this book that showed really well. 1)anal(yes people like it and practice it a lot). 2)dreadlocks (I loved the attention to detail places here). 3) injuries-old ones. Not just from a battle with someone in the book whose bad, but Brenna had an injury from a long time ago making certain positions hard for her. I enjoyed that because people aren’t perfect. We get ouchies that last a lifetime. 4)character development(not just Emily and Logan but other characters. Which is why I also appreciated the glossary and list of characters in the back). 5) explanation of words I didn’t know at the end! 6) there was more than one bad person. Sometimes when I’m reading something there’s just one bad guy and everyone else is good and friends. In this one there were a few crappy people sprinkled in giving the read a sense of realism I haven’t gotten in a long time! I really could go on all day but that is the meaty bits that I loved! If you haven’t read the first two books you really need to. Not because this isn’t a standalone but because you’ll miss out on the awesomeness that’s been woven into that story!

From the first paragraph I was pulled back into the world of Emmy and logan, even though this isn't their story. It felt comfortable to be back here. Like long lost friends embracing again. I enjoyed brenna in the previous book and loved her banter with Emily and from the start they were back at it.
Brenna has a vulnerability that she guards fiercely. Constantly checking over her shoulder for the shoe to drop and be let down again. Mac tries to fill that void in her. It's sweet to see them grow together. As the attack on brenna and missing ink continues the couple seem to grow closer together, but personal issues on both sides cause brenna to feel she's not worthy of the love she's always secretly craved. Mac even though is a sadist does give you that daddy dom vibe, as he's always conscious of bren's emotional needs more than when she believes she should need it herself. But at the same time, they aren't over the top mushy with it. Bren just needs a man who will finally out her first and when she doesn't believe she will get it, it just about break my heart and hers. Excellent read. I can't wait for more from this world and with the bikers thrown in, it will continue to be interesting.

I have been absolutely sucked into this series. I wasn't sure I wanted to read Brenna and Mac's story after falling so hard for Logan and Emily. I just didn't think I'd be as intrigued or engaged by this pair. I was so wrong. Brenna just stole my heart. That girl. I just wanted to be her best friend. Mac was pretty awesome too, but he tripped over himself a few times and still needs to work on communication! I would seriously recommend this book to anyone who loves strong, character driven fiction. You literally could take out the BDSM elements of the story and I wouldn't care. The characters and their depth is what captured me with this series. Great, great characters. I am sold on this series and will be eagerly awaiting the next arrival.

Immersive and Emotional

This story take you right into the lives of Bren and Mac, and takes you along for the ride. And a bumpy ride it is, with narcissistic ex’s, miscommunications, motorcycle clubs, and history that comes with intense baggage. I loved how this book brought me into their day-to-day lives, both the good and the bad, such that I experienced it with Mac, Bren, Emily, Logan and the rest of their extended “family”. I want to slip back into their world again and again.

Missing Ink is a book I loved from beginning to end. Bold Girl is a strong, daring, beautiful woman you want to hug. She's the right mix of sweet and sassy.

Mac is older, fine as wine. Honest, caring and knows his way around the bedroom and many other places. He's what a submissive woman wants in her Dom.

Missing Ink is well written and won't disappoint.

When I saw this book was part of a series, I was worried I'd have to read other books before reading this. I was wrong. The author did a great job keeping me engaged throughout the book. It had a good pace, neither too long nor too short. I am not usually a 'scene' girl, but parts of the story were super steamy.

I really enjoyed the story overall.

This series seems to always have me enraptured in each new installment. The chemistry between Mac and Brenna is magical. Neither think they're capable of being loved, but find it together. The growth of durty girl is just incredible. And through it all, all of the newest kinks being introduced to me, it's just a simple love story.

This is the best Dom book, I have ever read. The descriptions of the scenes are phenomenal! I really felt like I was right there, especially in the clubs. You need to experience this, buy the book you’ll love it.

Missing Ink

E J Frost has put together a really good romance. It's got all the feels in it plus some. It helps if you start with the box set and read in order, easier to understand the relationships.

Loved this book

I love all of Ms. Frost Daddy OK series. Emily and Logan are not the main characters here but Mac and Brenn are. A truly great read.

Series in general was ok. Not great but not terrible. Lots was left unsaid which I hate. Decent writing though.

Brenna Truelove aka Dirtygurl is a paid submissive at Blunt's, an exclusive BDSM club in New York, one of whose owners is Logan, "the" Daddy P.I., although he's only a peripheral character in this story. While Brenna has been getting her kink needs met with various club doms, she's looking for a deeper, more meaningful relationship with one special dom. She finally finds him in Mac, an older dom who is part of the retired military brotherhood in which Logan is also a member, along with Max (from Max's Bumble) and Manny, who works as a bodyguard for whatever high-profile client Logan takes on.

Logan's little, Emily, fancies herself a matchmaker and as a special friend to Brenna, introduces her to Mac. Brenna is too young for Mac, who is the "old man" of the brotherhood, but you know how the heart is. It doesn't listen to the brain, and over time Brenna and Mac become lovers with an exclusive dom/sub relationship. Their stability is tested by Mac's former wife, his college age daughter recovering from drug addiction, and criminal interference in Brenna's tattoo business. With multiple tense moments, you will wonder how their budding relationship will survive, which will keep you glued to the pages.

Mac, like Logan, is a tough dom, and there may be times when, like me, you will want to slap him up the side of his head for his rough and seemingly callous treatment of Brenna, but that's one of the key elements of kink. Each partner fulfills the needs of the other, with consent, even those of us "normal people" may find it beyond our understanding.

In the end, as promised, there is a HEA, although Ms. Frost keeps you on pins and needles getting there. Every character in her books has depth and a wide range of talents that contributes to the ever expanding story. In order to get a full and complete picture of the complexity comprising this kinky "family."

This is part of an interconnected series & is best read in order to get full enjoyment.

Brenna thinks she might be broken as she picks the wrong man every time and now all the things that once brought her comfort just make her feel more lost. Mac is grateful for Logan & Emily’s support as they welcome him into their home. Mac’s done in the Navy and ready to start a new chapter of his life & when he sees Brenna, he knows what his next mission is. Brenna can’t hide as Emily sees right through her defensive comments & pushes her to pursue her chance at happiness. Mac & Brenna have some tough issues to work through as Mac is determined to get past the walls Brenna has erected. Mac’s last relationship left him scarred & as they open up to each other, Brenna will learn she’s not the only one with a traumatic past. When Brenna starts receiving threats, she’s surprised at how helpful Logan is as they’ve not had the best relationship in the past. Logan has never really understood Brenna & when Brenna finally lets her guard down, she’ll find she’s not the only one whose assumptions were wrong. With her relationship blossoming with Mac, Brenna will have to make a decision about her place at the club & her decision will leave her running in fear. When Brenna finally reveals the extent of her feelings to Mac, will she have found the Dom of her dreams or will she suffer her worst heartbreak yet? This ends on a HFN.

I received an ARC of this book via Book Sprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Stand Alone? This book could be read as a stand alone but due to character crossover the series is best read in order starting with Daddy PI 0.5 Negotiations.

I have reached the end of available Daddy PI books! 😭😭😭😭😭😭 This series has captured my heart in a way that I haven’t experienced in books before. The beauty of how different it is from most books of this nature makes me extremely attached to it. I seriously NEVER want to stop reading this series. Even if I have to read it over again a million times, I want to always be reading one of the Daddy PI books (so I NEVER have to say goodbye to these amazing characters and this amazing world).

If you like spicy BDSM romance of all kinds then you will absolutely adore this series and all of its amazing characters! I HIGHLY recommend trying these books out because they have given me an escape unlike any other. I love the series, I love the author, and I can’t wait for the next installment of the Daddy PI books!

Happy Reading My Friends!
