The Guardian of the Amulets

Rate this book
When she escaped from Santa Caribe Island, Christine took only what she could carry -- three priceless amulets of religious significance and a Guardian cub. Seemingly betrayed by her husband Michael and his criminal friend Jonas, Christine has no choice but to fake her death and go into hiding with her daughter. When Michael finds out where Christine died, he travels there to say his goodbyes -- never knowing that she thought him a traitor . . . or that she was alive. Once the secrets are revealed Michael and Christine set out to return the amulets to their rightful owners. . . and to right the wrongs between them.

From the description I expected fantasy, but this is more of a romantic suspense; like many examples of that genre it suffers from contrived stupidity so marked that I can't get past it to care about the characters.

Christine barely escaped with her life after a wedding-day assault by Garibaldi and his men. Believing that her husband had betrayed her, she fled the island and made a new life for herself and her daughter. Her husband Mike spent 8 years searching for her (apparently without ever considering that the dude she warned him about was involved). When he finds her he immediately leads the bad guys to her door.

I kind of wanted to find out about the amulets, but not enough to keep reading about this pair of idiots and their throbbing loins/tightening nipples.

Chose this book because the author had the same first name as myself:) easy read, but I felt it was too predictable. I enjoy reading books with more twist of events and character development.
