Kirk Little’s love life is in a constant state of nothingness. Single, lonely, desperate to meet someone, all of this would be a heck of a lot more achievable if he had even a sliver of self-confidence. Unfortunately, the too-skinny Ancient History Professor would rather charge headfirst into battle, than approach a man on the street. In a desperate bit to change this, he joins his local gym thinking that packing on a little muscle might see a surge in sex appeal and a shift in momentum where his love life is concerned. Lance Bailey is the hunky, sexpot of a man who Kirk only dreams of being with. Lance is a personal trainer by day, by night he’s a self-professed man-whore that has no desire to be tied down to one single man. Truth be told, nothing could be worse. Right now, however, Lance has bigger problems to deal with. He’s recently come up with an idea for a business that he knows is a gold mine, the only issue is that he doesn’t have the smarts, or self-belief to pull such an idea off. When he’s forced to train Kirk one day, the two get to talking and realize they can help one another out. If Lance helps Kirk with his body, Kirk will help Lance with his business. It’s a business-partnership that soon turns into a friendship that soon turns into something much, much more. Kirk thinks he’s beneath Lance. Lance doesn’t think he wants a relationship. But the sexual desire just might be too much for either man to ignore. Please This book contains adult language and steamy adult activities, it is intended for 18+ Adults Only. Jerry Cole is a gay author who lives in California & enjoys writing love stories. Jerry has been writing fiction since he was a child. As a young adult, he worked as a freelance writer in the evenings & on weekends. Jerry started writing gay romance stories several years ago, but initially just for his own entertainment & occasionally sharing stories with his friends. In the summer of 2015 he published his first gay romance short story on Amazon. Overwhelmed by the positive response he decided to quit his “day job” & took up writing gay romance full time. When he’s not writing steamy M/M romance he enjoys globetrotting, watching movies with family and friends, working out, & being dragged down the road by his two Great Danes.
The Better Side of Me was a decent book. It has a relatively good storyline, however I felt the way the story was told was a bit chaotic.
The chaos I refer to is the flow of the story. For example, the two main characters are Lance and Kirk. At the very hot beginning of their relationship Lance gets "cold feet" and sets out to meet up with Brazilian hottie his straight friend Carlo had suggested. It went from Lance and Carlo at the nar to nothing about the Brazilian guy until nearly 2/3 of the story was complete. This is just one of a few instances that made it difficult for me to follow along. If the writer had at the very least suggested Lance's thoughts or mentioned the Brazilian showing up at the bar and simply meeting up and only finding Carlo would have at least allowed the reader some input of this particular situation.
this is the one . . . DNF . . . just couldn't take any more . . .
The two main characters are sympathetic (can't remember their names) and complete each other, but both have HUGE lack of self-confidence problems. One is a smart, college professor nerd who has major body issues (and a lack of social life) because he doesn't have any muscles. The other is a personal trainer at a gym, has always had the body (and face) of an Adonis, but always thought of himself as being dumb, but could get ANYONE for sex because of his body.
They get together and find that with a little effort and time, they complete each other . . . but their self-confidence issues either hold them back or interfere when they should be their happiest. Will they FINALLY get it together and stop hurting hurting each other? Will they grow up and realize what they have in their relationship? This IS Kindle.
Lance has a great idea, buat doesn't know how to sell it to his boss. Kirk is a scrawny gay man and needs to power up a bit. The two find out that can help each other out. It's a good partnership and they find that they can do more than help each other out. They can also fall in love...hower, things are always good and they change in the blink of an eye for the two. Loan sharks, stealing, and threats of bodily harm are something that Kirk can't get past. How can these two men possibly get over the heartache that they caused each other. Can Kirk find it in his heart to forgive Lance for his transgressions and will Lance make a huge mistake before Kirk can stop him? A story definitely worth reading. I voluntarily read and reviewed this ARC book.
It was perfectly enjoyable and I liked the writing style - witty and self aware. The characters are a bit caricaturish, but it fits the overall vibe. The MCs undergo personal and physical growth and it's fun to follow them on their path.
But, then at 54% I suddenly and inexplicably lost interest. I know there's some unresolved plot points, but I couldn't for the life of me be invested enough to finish the story. I would prefer it if the whole first half, with the relationship development, was a little bit spread out, and the rest of the plot weaved around it.
And oh yeah, the whole thing needs an editor. There are quite a bit of typos and errors.
Kirk meets Lance at a gym and they start to talk about a plan Lance has for his own business within the gym but does not know how to sell his idea to his boss. Kirk offers to help and as they spend more time together they fall for each other. But not all is well in paradise. They still have to overcome selfishness, betrayal and trust issues. All in all a very enjoyable and recomendable read and once you start you dont want to stop.

This is my second book by this author. I was impressed with the first one I read, so I decided to read another. It seemed really scattered - almost like the juice bar pitch! By 20% in, it was already getting over dramatic, and once the story got to the over drinking and passing out, I gave up. (Overserving someone is never sexy!!) I had high hopes, but I just can’t with this one.
Since the author’s books are available in KU, I probably will give a third book a chance as a tiebreaker, but this one isn’t getting a second chance.
I had a great time reading the story of these two MCs :) This book is about the story of Lance and Kirk who help each other achieving each others' goals. However, they happen to achieve more than that and fall in love. A sweet and funny book.

I usually don't leave reviews and just leave stars, but this book made me feel I had to.This is the first romance I've read where I didn't want an HEA. I think a lot of things can be forgiven to an extent, but not when it comes to someone's money and career.
