Rate this book
A dissertation, a war mage, and a crack in the material world make for an interesting research trip. Kells Holland travels to New York on the trail of the infamous Doran witches, in the hopes of interviewing them for her anthropology dissertation. What she finds are time portals, an unplanned trip to the 1920s, and the man who has plagued her psychic visions for years. While in the past, Kells stumbles across information that the time portals are being opened by those of the shadow realms—a dangerous race that lives in an alternate dimension. Malachi Sayer has fought the forces of the shadow realms since his recruitment to the Convention of the Rose Hand years before. Keeping his profession secret from his family hasn’t been easy. Even less so given the attacks by the shadow beings have escalated. Now, a woman from his visions is at the mercy of darkness and he must go into their very depths to save her or risk losing her forever. Kells and Malachi must team up to keep the shadow realms from leaking into our world, even as the events that will tear them apart are rocketing ever closer.

MK Mancos began her storytelling about the same time she acquired language skills. When faced with nightmares as a child, the pediatrician instructed her mother to read her stories before bed. But being the precocious child she was, she wanted nothing but unadulterated tales by the Brothers Grimm. The battle raged between MK and her mother over suitable bedtime material, until MK was forced to begin telling herself tales before going to sleep. Thus began the lifelong love of books, stories, and lives not her own.

After living for years in the Midwest and Deep South, MK now resides in New Jersey with her wonderful husband, Dave, and her temperamental cat, Kittygirl.

Kathleen Scott lives for today and not tomorrow or yesterday. A mercurial individual, she has the high flying life of the jet set, and is hard to track down on most days.

This was a very exciting ending to the Doran Witches Series.....We follow Malachi Sayer, a Warrior Mage, working for the Convention (a group of witches dedicated to preventing the evil shadow beings from crossing over to the human realm). Enter Kells Holland, a witch doing research on the Doran witch family for her college dissertation. Both Malachi & Kells find themselves working together passing through time wells battling evil shadow realms. I really enjoyed this whole series....it gives the reader a nice look into the world of witchcraft, which I found very fascinating.
