The Circle of A Framework for Creating and Leveraging Culture is a hands-on approach towards understanding the power of culture and how leaders are responsible for harnessing it. In this book, you will learn how to positively influence organizational culture through stories from some of the most influential leaders in their fields, such * Stefan Larsson, former CEO of Ralph Lauren and how he was able to turn around a failing apparel brand, Old Navy into the thriving conglomerate it is today. * Former Disney executive Lee Cockerell and what he believes are the secrets to the iconic brand’s continuing success. * Todd Duncan’s story of the $6,000 Egg, a tale on how poor leadership and culture can lead to expensive mistakes. This book is for leaders, small business owners, and entrepreneurs who are looking for ways to improve employee engagement, decrease turnover, and increase productivity. It will teach you how to win by leveraging the power of culture.
This is one of the most practical leadership books I’ve read in a long time. What stood out to me most wasn’t just the content—it was how well organized and easy it was to follow. The framework is clear, the chapters build naturally on one another, and the formatting makes it easy to absorb the ideas without feeling overwhelmed.
The biggest takeaway for me was how effectively the author demonstrates that culture isn’t something abstract or reserved for senior executives. Leaders at every level shape the culture around them every day through their actions, decisions, and interactions. The book provides a simple but powerful framework for understanding that influence and, more importantly, for intentionally creating the kind of culture you want your team to experience.
I especially appreciated that this wasn’t a book full of leadership buzzwords or theory. It’s practical, actionable, and immediately applicable. I found myself thinking about my own leadership and identifying specific ways I could put the concepts into practice.
I read The Circle of Leadership for my Georgia Tech management class and it aligned with our curriculum perfectly! Andrew Adeniyi does a great job at breaking down each step necessary to create an incredible culture. He uses a great analogy of a bus. He shares with us how to ensure you get the right people on the bus, show them to the right seat, and get the wrong people off the bus. Really productive read!
