There’s a way to escape from Ravenhold, but I won’t be free.
When I arrived on the island, I believed the other hybrids at the reform academy were my greatest enemies. Now they’re my closest allies inside the corrupt institution.
Apart from one. Dorian Blackwood.
The seductive vampire hybrid almost stole my blood and magic. Dorian wants my power and thinks he can weaken me, but I saw the truth when we kissed. I weaken him.
A new witch arrives at the academy, and he claims that we can escape the magic-locked island, but I don’t want any dealings with this familiar face. The guy takes control of the witches, but Dorian doesn’t punish the student who challenges his authority. Why?
As we navigate the power plays around us, I learn more about Zeke’s mysterious past and push through his barriers, but Ethan continues to struggle with how much his dragon half controls him. We’re united now, but would a life outside Ravenhold pull us apart?
With Dorian’s and the newcomer’s help, we have a genuine chance of escape, but nothing happens by chance in this place. Who sent somebody to free the hybrids, and what awaits the four of us in the outside world?
What will happen if a vengeful Dorian Blackwood is unleashed on our society?
Magic Forged is the second book in the Ravenhold series from USA Today bestselling author LJ Swallow.
The books are set in a supernatural reform academy with deliciously dangerous guys and a badass heroine who won't bow to anyone. Ravenhold is a slow burn, enemies to lovers reverse harem romance series. The books are steamier and have darker themes than the Nightworld Academy series.
LJ Swallow is a paranormal romance and urban fantasy author who is the alter-ego of bestselling contemporary romance author Lisa Swallow.
Giving in to her dark side, LJ spends time creating worlds filled with supernatural creatures who don’t fit the norm, and heroines who are more likely to kick ass than sit on theirs.
It was so enticing that I couldn’t put it down, this book grabbed my interest from the very first page. I had to know what happened next. The story is well written with a very good storyline. The books are set in a supernatural reform academy with deliciously dangerous guys and a badass heroine who won't bow to anyone. I guess we will soon find out. So with all that and more this story pulls you in and holds you tight. I cant wait to find out what happens next. I highly recommend to everyone.
We start immediately where book 1 left off, with Eloise and Zeke fending for themselves on the island surrounding Ravenhold. Then things take a turn for the worse for Eloise with the arrival of her ex fiance Ivan. Ivan's presence elevates fear, emotions and questions, not just for Eloise, but for Zeke, Ethan and of course Dorian Blackwood. Yet whilst events are escalating out of control, Eloise's inner strength and acceptance over her ties to her three men are growing. However, that doesn't mean the relationships are going smoothly. The heat level rises in this second book and, I for one welcome that, along with the jealousy and friction between our four main characters. There is plenty of action, both physical and in the storyline and a slightly darker tone, which adds to the grittiness. I am an ARC reader, however this is an honest review as to how I feel about this book and series in general. It is very well written, lots of attention to the characters and the relationships, plenty of action driving Eloise's story forward, a welcome rise to the heat level in this second book. I am very much looking forward to book three.
It took me a few pages to remind myself where the last book left off and who was who. We start with Eloise outside the academy walls alone on the island. Fortunately, she finds Zeke out there with her and they manage to survive an attempt from Francesca to remove them from the island. Was she working for the Confederacy or herself? Now that her attempt at "recruiting" has failed, a member of the Confederacy shows up to "fix" things. His solution is to leave the lunatics in charge of the asylum, so to speak. Zeke is to go back to keeping the shifters in line and Dorian to keeping everyone in line. Yeah, that'll work. Just when it seems like things can't get worse, Ivan shows up.
I will leave you to find out how everything turns out. Things are going to be totally different at the end of the book. Enjoy. I was given a copy of this book by the author and my review is voluntary.
When things go topsy turvy at the academy, Eloise, Dorian, Ethan and Zeke find themselves in trouble. For Eloise, the unwanted arrival of a blast from the past ignites a series of events, and causes uproar at the academy. Dorian might have his authority questioned, but he also has his own plans. Ethan and Zeke have been changed by their interactions with Eloise, and find their roles in life diverging.
With some spice, and some terrifying scenes, this book keeps the reader on the edge of their seat, as we wait to see just what Ravenhold has in store for our MCs. And then of course, there is what will happen when they get out…
An enjoyable second installment in this story, with our morally grey heroes, and a heroine who is just beginning to see her own power. Recommended for RH fantasy fans.
My, my, my things are truly heating up!!! All chaos breaks out at Ravenhold in this wonderful book. Lines are drawn, hands revealed, and people choose their sides. Who will win in the end, and WHO is behind all the craziness within Ravenhold? Answers start being revealed and we learn who the Trinity Witch seems to align herself with. I LOVE seeing Eloise come into her own. There is a cliffhanger that'll leave you desperate for book three. All in all a wonderful read filled to the brim with suspense, intrigue, paranormal craziness, and a powerful female witch at the center of everything.
If L.J. Swallow's Horseman Series and her Nightworld Academy had a book baby it would be the Ravenhold Series! I am OBSESSED! So many twists, loads of secrets and an unexplainable connection between Eloise, Zeke, Ethan & Dorian. And I feel like we've only just scratched the surface of this dark and twisted book world. I could NOT put this book down... I read it in one sitting and then I instantly regretted reading so fast because now well now I'll will be counting the minutes until book three! SO GOOD!
This book is amazing!!!! So many things change and develop and intensify in this book. It gets crazy in this book. So much goes down. I loved it!!!! And I loved the first book in this series, but this one surpasses it by a lot!!! It was that good! I love Eloise and her powers, and Dorian and his lethalness, and Zeke and his sexy charm, and Ethan and his protectiveness!! They make a unique, fun, amazing team together. I hope they can overcome all their next battles together, stronger. I can’t wait for more!! Absolutely love this series!!!
So worth the wait! I absolutely love this world that LJ Swallow has created between her Nightworld Academy and Ravenhold. Eloise is an interesting character who is learning to stand up for herself against some pretty difficult situations. I love how her guys are starting to work together though to keep her and themselves safe. So many interesting situations are beginning to crop up and I cannot wait to see what happens next!
Picks up quickly where book one left off. I'm still trying to figure out who is playing puppet master with all the players. Quick moving story with lots of action with a few intense moments that had me gasping. Great cast of characters and a cliff hanger that will have you screaming to see what is yet to be. There were a few surprises I did not see happening but it has me thinking more about how the end will play out. Fantastic read!
Dorian and Eloise give me whiplash. lol They have a serious hate-on for each other, but the problem with that is I can't tell if it's just the physicality of the vamp/witch, blood/power dynamic or if there's an actual relationship developing. With Zeke and Ethan, there's at least an emotional connection to build on. There is still so much that's hidden from readers, and I'm ready for the finale to help me understand the full picture. I'm super curious about Alaric.
Soooo good!!! I loved the first one but things get more exciting in this one for sure! There is definitely more action and we learn some new things about the characters. Eloise has many things to consider as well as contend with in this book. Her growing relationships are just a part of that chaotic whole! We even run into a few old familiar characters, if you've read the Nightworld Academy Series. All in all, it was a great read and I'm definitely excited for the next book!
Love this series! And this from a reader who has never been that engrossed in "Academy" type books. Ravenhold is much more than that. The plethora of intriguing characters, a heroine who is coming into her own and the men who find themselves worshiping her combine to make an excellent story.
What another incredible story. I’m glad they are out of the he’ll hole but I’m not sure things are better yet. So many unanswered questions. So much racing around my head. Loving the interaction with the other characters though really builds the storyline and plot for the next book. However next year is too far away need it now.
LJ Swallow does. It disappoint in this hotter than ever book!! Eloise is coming into her own, her guys are so unique and provide exactly what she needs. I love the links between the Nightworld Academy and Ravenhold and I’m excited to see where our brilliant author takes us next. I received an advanced copy for my honest review
This book blew me away, betrayal, evil everywhere, yet somehow love still slides in. I loved reading and seeing the characters growing and changing to adapt to the changes in their world. That ending blindsighted me and I was like hang on, no that can't be it.
Eloise has many hurdles to jump over in this book. Can she trust Zane and the mysterious Ethan when a hurtful person from her last arrives at Ravenhold. Is Dorian with it against her. Look forward to the next book.
God I love Eloise, Dorian, Zeke, & Ethan so much! I love that LJ created more characters in the Nightworld Academy world and I can’t wait to see how she ends Eloise’s story. I already know I’m going to miss reading about these guys so much!
Book 2 in this series did not disappoint! I cannot get enough of Dorian, Ethan and Zeke. They are too yummy! I can't wait to find out what their next moves are in book 3.
So I loved the first book but the second book seems rushed. There are many twists and turns in it which kept me reading. Some parts of the book I just wanted to grab and shake some sense into the FMC. Oh well on to book #3
The new installment does not disappoint. It started off from the last installment. I couldn't remember but once I started reading it all came back to me
I could sit and list everything broken about this storyline, but I won't. I couldn't get through this book, I DNF at 71% and literally couldn't not make myself keep reading. Awful.
