I struggled with this book. I do have to say that I liked the way the family supported one another.

Ames was the last of the Hammond brothers to get married. I understood that he felt like he didn't measure up to his other brothers. That didn't seem to be his only issue, but I couldn't put my finger on exactly what the other issues were for Ames.

Sophia had her fair share of issues also. Insecurity being a major issue. She ran hot and cold as much as Ames did. I couldn't see how they were going to finally be on the same page enough to manage to have a relationship.

Trying to follow their relationship through the entire book just felt very choppy and uneven to me. I know people have difficulties in their relationships and everything is not always smooth sailing. Ames and Sophia's relationship seemed to be a barrage of difficulties with very little smooth sailing. I could see no element of trust or security even after they admitted they loved on another.

This was an interesting read and had a series of emotional levels to try and figure out. Ames and Sophia managed to get their HEA, but this did not feel to me like it was a happy or romantic book. Luckily, they both seemed to have their faith to carry them through.

I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

Liz cannot write a bad book in my opinion. I love these cowboy series. The Hammonds are all different personalities. Ames is a twin but very different from Cy. He quits the police force and moves to Texas to be a cowboy. He is fixing up a house when he nails his finger to the wall. He goes to the drug store and surprisingly finds Sophia there as well. He passes out and she takes him to the hospital. They had dated in the past in Wyoming. They really like each other, but find it hard to compromise. They start dating again but have their ups and downs. He moves back to Wyoming and decides to start a police dog training center. He has to go to North Carolina to take the training, but Sophia refuses to go back to NC. Will things go South? Can they keep the long distance relationship working? I received an ARC of this book and I am giving an honest review.

Her Cowboy Billionaire Bad Boy: Hammond Brothers is book 5 in the Christmas at Whiskey Mountain Lodge series by Liz Isaacson. Does the final Hammond brother find love in Coral Canyon?

Last up is Ames and Sophia, had a fling, he wanted her to move...she said no...end of story? Not by a long shot..

Trust, family and love issues, speaking up, push and pull, finding where they fit in, together or not and maybe a second chance at forever...

Ames and Sophia’s relationship is filled with stops and starts, missteps and hurts. They first met when Ames came to town to support his twin brother, Cy. While things seemed to click between them, Ames returned to his job as a cop in another state. Neither Sophia or Ames was ready then to make a move from their prospective homes. When she dialed his number by mistake months later, he had promised to contact her again, but never did. Six months later, they meet again by chance in yet another state. Ames wants to make changes in his life so that he get get what his brothers have now...wives and families of their own. He has given up his job as cop and started working on a ranch, but that really isn’t as satisfying as he had hoped it would be. Truthfully, he really isn’t happy at all. He doesn’t feel much of anything, partly because he had trained himself to shut off his emotions while he was doing his job as a cop. Now he simply doesn’t know how to access his feelings. Meeting Sophia again seems to kickstart his need to make another change, to give into to his brothers’ desire to have him near them, which also happens to be Sophia’s hometown. Sophia is afraid to trust Ames motives for seeing her again. His failure to contact her months before hurt her, and brought back the pain of having not even one member of her family want to contact her. She is always the outsider, the singleton at gatherings and events. Her heart just can’t take any more disinterest or rejection. He tries to find a new connection to Sophie and doesn’t make any promises to her that he won’t keep. They are tentative and cautious with each other, both wary, but hopeful that they can build a relationship that will last and lead to something more. Yet more missteps, poor communication and their own insecurities seem to derail any chance for a future together. Will they finally find a way to reveal their hearts, and to reach for love and a future together? Will they let their faith and God guide them?

The characters are colourful, relatable and fascinating. I loved the family dynamics between Ames and his brothers...the teasing, the prodding, the unsolicited advise and the unwavering love and support. This story is written with a great deal of insight and perception which make it more captivating. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This is book five of the Hammond Brothers: Christmas at Whiskey Mountain Lodge series and this book concentrates on the life of Ames Hammond. He is a little bit lost, after giving up his job as a cop some months beforehand, without telling any of his brothers, not even his twin Cy. He had been seeing a woman called Sophia for a few weeks over the Christmas period, but neither of them were willing to relocate to the others state and were both settled and had reasons to stay where they were. He said he would keep in touch when they split up, but he never did, believing it pointless to do so. He likes routine and organization, which made him love being a cop, but he was working to many hours and nobody wanted to date a cop! He feels he is a failure, wasting away his two billion dollar inheritance, as he hasn’t found his true calling and something to spend this money on, unlike all of his brothers. It doesn’t help that his twin is getting married and now he will be the last unmarried one of all the brothers!

After breaking the news to his family that he had left his job months before, he left the brother he was living with and helping out on his ranch, to go and live in a completely different state, where the Hammond name was unknown, and working part time as a simple cowboy on a ranch. He bought an old house and was midway through doing a complete renovation on it, when he accidently nailed his thumb to his new kitchen units! Finding he didn’t have any proper medical supplies, he had to drive off to the centre of Three Rivers, to find some. With one thumb wrapped in a towel, he is finding it difficult to pick up and hold any items he needs and ends up dropping them all when he is surprised by the sight of the last person he would ever have expected to see, Sophia!

She is in Three Rivers to be a nanny to Marcy and Wyatt Walker’s children and help them with their move to Coral Canyon. She will then be a nanny to them for the summer, whilst still working at the lodge and is enjoying the change in her life. She is hurt and annoyed that he has bought a home in a different state, after making so much of his refusal to move from where he was. But, she also realises that she still has feelings for him, as he does for her. But Ames has a serious problem with showing any sort of emotion or even feeling anything like any other person. In that, he is quite like his young nephew Hunter, who after a childhood trauma, started therapy when he wasn’t sure if he liked kissing a girl or not. Don’t worry, he has found out that he does! Ames doesn’t like to say he will do anything, unless he is positive that he will do it, he doesn’t do maybes.

This makes what happens next, as they try to see if they might still have a chance together, extremely difficult and almost impossible. Their previous relationship ended up in an impasse, with neither willing to accommodate the wishes of the other. Whether this happenstance meeting between these two will go anywhere this time round, will depend on a lot of factors and a willingness to accommodate changes. Finally discovering what he wants to use his inheritance for, will bring Ames some satisfaction, but he still wants love, marriage and children, which he can’t do alone. Another great story in this series. If you have read any of the other books, you know the characters well and have already heard parts of the story from others. What you get this time, is the actual full story of the Ames and Sophia, and all the hurdles they have to overcome, if they are ever to have a life together in the end. A quick read, even if over three hundred pages, as you are swept away into the storyline and love story. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

Liz Isaacson has written a 5-star book. Sophie and Ames had been together for a few weeks when he went back home. He wanted her to move to his home town and she wanted him to move to her's but they neither one would do it. Ames is the only one out of his brothers that is still single and he is not happy about that. He thinks about Sophie a lot. He tells his family that he is moving to Texas to take another job but it falls through before he gets there but he moves anyway. He is working on his fixer-upper house when he gets hurt and he thinks he can take care of it himself. He goes to the store to get the things he thinks he needs when he hears a voice that he knows. He looks and it is Sophie standing behind him. She looks at him and sees that he is hurt and tells him she is taking him to the hospital. After that, they start seeing each other and things go well for them until he decides he wants to train police K-9's. He would have to go to North Carolina to take all the courses he would need to take and be gone for 9 months. He asks Sophie to go with him but she tells him that she won't go. She said that she lived in North Carolina and she promised that she would never go back there. As Ames is working on his dog training things with him and Sophie grow distant. She finds out that he is going to be in town for the holidays and he did not ask her to go with him to his brothers with him. She thinks that this is his way of telling her that he is done with her. All of Ames's family Is upset with him over Sophie and the way he has treated her. He needs to find a way to make things up with her and he gets one of his brothers to help him.
Can Ames get Sophie to forgive him or will she walk away from him?
Can Sophie get Ames to forgive her for the way she has refused to go with him to North Carolina?
This was a wonderful book and I would recommend it to anyone.

Her Cowboy Billionaire Bad Boy, Christmas At Whiskey Mountain Lodge, A Hammond Brothers Novel, Book 5. This is Ames and Sophia's story. Like each of his brothers he made a mess of things and almost lost her. But, with 4 sister-in-laws on his back and 4 brothers determined to make him see what he was giving up, he had to make some type of change in his life. He couldn't understand what putting their life on pause meant. He couldn't work on his certification for the K-9 dogs and carry on a long distance romance. Sophia also had decided either she made a move at Christmas or lose what Ames and her had. This story also allows us to meet Katie, Annie and Colton's adopted daughter and Easton, Wes and Bree's second son. We find out that Cy and Patsy was holding a secret that they would be having their first child in a few months and we find out that Grams went to her eternal home in her sleep that left a whole at the wedding. Sophia was able to get both of her parents at the wedding. She had started building a relationship with her mother and they were getting closer. 15 years without family felt so much better with the Hammond family, Whittaker family, and her mother getting closer to her. Wyatt, Marcy and their 3 boys meant so much to Sophia after her being their nanny one summer. Ames could not wait till they had a family after watching Sophia with the boys. He wanted what his brothers had, a loving wife and children. And with Sophia agreeing to help him run the K-9 academy their life was finally lined up for a happily after after.

When personal issues and insecurities threaten a budding relationship what will happen?
Ames likes rules. He follows rules. Rules are dependable and don’t require you to think. Ames also likes dogs and they like him. Dogs let you know what they need. They respond to training and act as they have been taught to. People are not as easy, especially women so Ames tends to be grumpy around others and stay away from women. But now he has met Sophia. Sophia is determined not to get become involved with a Hammond brother like her friends have. Then Ames enters her life and she finds that behind his gruff exterior is a good heart that cares for others, family, dogs and her. But Sophia has been disappointed by the people in her life, especially her family, and is not sure she really wants Ames around. Ames is not sure he wants to be involved with Sophia especially when she wants decisions about the future. Both pull away from each other but both are drawn strongly to each other. Can they overcome their own issues and accept the other’s issues or will they drift apart? I was given a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

I have loved getting to know the Hammond brothers and the women who tamed them in this series. Each brother's story is different yet they share the same values instilled in them by their Christian parents. In this book, Ames is the last bachelor brother and he chafes under his loneliness. While he and Sophia (a family friend) explore a relationship, Ames feels like the odd man out. Ultimately, he lets his friendship with Sophia fall by the wayside, only to reconnect with her several states away when Ames has a freak accident.
Ames is one of my favorite brothers because he second guesses every decision he makes. This is the basis of problems between him and Sophia. While Sophia has established roots in Coral Canyon, Ames is still searching for his place in the world.
This author writes stories with heart. Her characters are not perfect and each one struggles with everyday issues, just like most of us. Each character has to work through his or her specific problems before they can achieve the HEA ending. This novel ends with an epilogue for the 5 brothers which brought me to happy tears.

Sophia loves Coral Canyon. Ames loves Colorado. Neither is willing to move to be together. And neither is interested in a long-distance relationship. He ghosts her after a brief fling when he's in Coral Canyon to support his twin brother, Cy. When Ames quits his job on the police force in Littleton, he heads for Three Rivers, TX, and runs into Sophia. Ames is having trouble deciding where he should be and what he should be doing. Sophia loves her job at the resort, and the friends she's made in Coral Canyon. These two are stubborn and insecure, and suffer from a serious lack of communication. But these traits make them into real people, flawed and yet lovable, not picture perfect but just like our real life friends and family.I love the relationships in the Hammond family. The brothers tease and poke fun at each other, but at the same time, offer total support and unconditional love within their extended family. I'm sorry that Sophia doesn't have this closeness within her family. It was a hard road for them to find their happiness, but a story worth telling and reading.

Her Cowboy Billionaire Bad Boy: A Hammond Brothers Novel: Christmas at Whisky Mountain Lodge Book 5 is by Liz Isaacson. Ames is the last of the Hammond brothers who is not married. The other four met their wives at the Whittaker’s Christmases at Whiskey Mountain Lodge in Coral Canyon, Wyoming. Ames is determined that he will be staying in Denver so he can watch out for his parents at Ivory Peaks, Colorado. They are getting older and taking care of their ranch is something that one of the boys has to do. Wes, Colton, and Cy had moved to Coral Canyon while Gray was at Ivory Peaks. Ames had worked for the police department for years but now quit. He wanted to stay in the area but instead took a job in Texas but it closed before he could get there. In spite of his brothers’ wishes, he couldn’t go to Coral Canyon. He didn’t want to be a police officer again. He didn’t know what he wanted to do. At Whiskey Mountain Lodge, he met Sophie, one of the chefs. He was attracted to her but neither wanted to leave their town to move elsewhere. How can he convince her to leave when he doesn’t even know what he will be doing or where he will be?

Ames Hammond was a cop, but when he quit his job months ago, he was at loose ends not knowing what he wanted for himself. He got a job in Three Rivers, Texas, injures himself with a hammer and nail incident, and runs into his former girlfriend, Sophia Cooke, whom he had met when he visited his brother and later ghosted after he had returned to his job in Oklahoma.

Now Sophia doesn’t trust him, especially since his ghosting her had brought back her insecurities based on her history. When they try to start over, they are hesitant. Once again there are mistakes made and they back off. Can they learn to trust each other? Can they communicate more thoroughly to know they can risk another try? Can they build their confidence enough to go for a HEA? Or will they finally just give up and walk away?

It sounds like both of these characters had commitment issues, clouded by misunderstandings, and simply wrong place/wrong time bad luck. But if they can get themselves on the same page, there may be hope for them yet. Grab your copy and see if they can work this out successfully.

I am going to miss the Hammond brothers in the Christmas at Whiskey Mountain Lodge series but look forward to seeing them in Liz Isaacson’s new series. In Her Cowboy Billionaire Bad Boy, we get to see twin Ames struggle with being the only brother without a significant other, a wife and kids. Quitting his job with the Littleton Police Department left him uncertain of himself, where he belonged in the family and if he would ever amount to something like his brothers. Sophia met Ames at Whiskey Mountain Lodge and was not going to be caught up in that Hammond family thing! But meeting Ames changed her thinking until he started backing away and she didn’t know why. Two people with trust, family and love issues seem to make and unlikely couple but helping each other sems complicated at times that frustrates them both. Thrown together because of family and loyalty brings this couple to the place they realize that love is a two-way street and is far better traveled together than apart. And being a Hammond family member isn’t so bad after all.

Ames inherited money on his 21st birthday, but coming from a family that values a good work ethic he never really used his money. Instead he worked as a cop, until it was not enough for him any more. But he is struggling with the decision of what to do next. For the time being he is working part time on a ranch and in his free time renovates a house, so it can be flipped. When he has an accident while at home, he unexpectedly meets up with the woman who got away, as their timing had been wrong. But is the timing better now?
The story is part of a series of books that shows how people although part of a large family still can struggle with loneliness and how difficult it may be for the others to reach out to help and support.
This story is not just a love story, but also a story of people struggling with loneliness and depression. An interesting read, entertaining and well-written.

I didn't care for this book as much as I did the others in this series. Ames' and Sophia's story was on and off a lot of the time. After Ames quit the Littleton Police Department, he seemed to flounder. Previously, he always seemed to be strong and supportive--even coming to support his twin brother during a difficult time. But now Ames moves to TX, works on a ranch, and ignores Sophia and her texts. He briefly reconnects with Sophia in Texas by chance when he's in need, then ignores her again. But those Hammonds keep after Ames until he's forced into seeing Sophia once more. As their relationship grows again, it's hit and miss when Ames leaves to train with his dogs in North Carolina. I didn't quite understand the story's ending with the dogs when Ames wants to "switch identities" with his twin, or when he uses the dogs to propose. But overall, I enjoyed this clean cowboy romance series.

Another great book at Whiskey Mountain by Liz Isaacson.
Sophia's family is so broken that she doesn't talk to them or visit them. She usually moves on every year or two because that is what she did growing up as her dad was in the military. Ames feels like the odd man out in his family and isn't sure where he really belongs or what he wants to do with his life. Especially now that he is the only brother that isn't married. He really likes Sophia and she likes him but they live in different states and neither is willing to move or do the long distance relationship.
This book shows the trials and tribulations they go through to finally be together. Ames finally stops fighting himself and God to see where he belongs and that he does belong with his family in Coral Canyon working with dogs.

Ames is the twin brother of the “beast” Cy. Knowing that Cy has some mental health issues makes you wonder if Ames does also when he becomes very anxious. He seems to be at a crossroads in his life, quits the police department and drifts back to where his brothers live.Sophie is in charge of events and a couple meals at the lodge. She has a life path but she is lonely. They had a connection a year ago but he never called. He seems to have chosen a career but that will separate them while he trains. She is pretty adamant that she is not moving. This creates a rift in their fledgling relationship. Well written as are her other books. I felt that the problems facing them reflect real every day situations people have to navigate and learn to compromise

This is my first time reading something by this author. This was an entertaining and enjoyable read. Ames and Sophia were great characters and I couldn't help but feel bad for them. They had some tough challenges in their journey and had a lot of hurdles to face before reaching their HEA. The story was well-written and flowed nicely. The plot was interesting and had some plot twists and turns that made this an interesting and intriguing story. The characters were strong and well-developed and had great chemistry. The author did a nice job of bringing this story to life with her vivid descriptions and well-developed scenes. I enjoyed this book and am looking forward to reading more by this author.

I love all of Liz's books. She has a way with words.
Bad boy Ames is really a softy. It is his attitude that makes him seem like a bad boy. He is the last one of the brothers to marry and it is upsetting to him. He left his job as a policeman and does not know what to do with his life.
He had met Sophia Cooke during the fall when he was in Coral Canyon but he never called her after he left to go back home. Neither one was willing to relocate.
Ames accidently mails his thumb to the wall and has no family or anyone to help him. He runs into Sophia in the drugstore as he was trying to buy bandages.
Theirs is an on again off again romance.
I recommend this book to anyone who likes good clean reading.

I have really enjoyed all the books I have read by this author and especially like the ones that have the big family theme. I feel as if I know these people and this book is no exception. The times when the “Bad Boy” was not being nice to his girl or his family made me want to swat him. Guys should not make their women cry! I love the way the big family comes to the aid of whoever is hurting or when they can’t find their way – and how they take them to task when they aren’t being the men they should be. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I have.

What can I say about a Liz Isaacson book that I haven’t already said? I love picking up one of her books, okay, downloading it to my Kindle, knowing I will find an entertaining story line, interesting characters, both old and new, humor, angst, romance and happily ever after or at least the promise of in the future. This book is the last book in the Hammond Brothers series and therefore a sad moment, but there is light at the end of the tunnel since there is the tease of Hunter growing older, also one of the things I love about Liz Isaacson books is that old friends show up in new books. Almost like a family reunion. I guess I just have to be patient, not my strong suit.

This book had me swinging from one extreme to the other. I think I loved Ames and Sophia as individuals, but I’m not completely sold on the pair as a couple. They seemed to have more than their fair share of hurdles and disagreements to overcome. And, while I loved that they’re both able to recognize that they each played a personal role in those difficulties and were capable of asking for forgiveness for their parts, I thought that they took responsibility, and blamed the other, for the wrong things. However, I adored seeing the Hammond family together and knowing how all their stories end.

brilliant!

I’ve now read all the books in this series. Ames is a complicated man who doesn’t know how to share his heart. Such men are easily misunderstood. Sophia annoyed me on occasion but then I realised that anybody in a relationship would want to know where it’s going. Two hurting people makes for a difficult relationship and reading this book just made me to think that all of us need to do the work to heal before getting into relationships so that we don’t hurt each other. However I loved the way Ames and Sophia helped each other to heal from past hurts and how they both eventually decided to do the work needed for a thriving relationship. Highly recommended reading.

Ames and Sophia met when he was in Coral Canyon for a few months. He'd left his job as he felt that he shouldn't be there, and with all his brothers in relationships he was lost and alone.
Sophia was a military child so when she found her place in Coral Canyon she didn't want to leave. Ames was determined not to live there, so they reached an impasse and he left.
Later he meets her in Three Rivers and she ends up taking him to the hospital. Things progress but not smoothly! Liz always puts bumps in the road in her stories!

A good end to the series from Liz.

You will love this last book in the Christmas at Whiskey Mountain Lodge Series. Ames loves Sophia but he sometimes lets his head get in the way of his heart. The Hammond Brothers and their wives encourage them as they look for their happy ever after. I love the way that the characters in this series are more mature (older) and that they always turn to God to find their answers. They are not perfect, they have flaws, and Liz Isaacson weaves a great love story pulling them all together. Don’t miss this clean, inspiring romance from Liz Isaacson!

Not my usual read but a very good story. I could feel the angst Ames felt, also the hesitation that Sophia was experiencing. This was an inspirational story. I liked the way that Ames internalized much of his thoughts and the way Liz Isaacson wrote the story. Sophia had her own issues, but if only they got out of their own way. It all ended well with a very happy ending even with the pause. I did enjoy this book.

Her Cowboy Billionaire Had Boy

What an adventure we've had with this family, now the last to marry - maybe - is Ames. Ames is so uncertain about his future and where it should go or what he should do. He said he'd never leave Colorado, then he does but not for Wyoming. A chance meeting with Sophia in Texas actually saves his life but will be wise up and do something about it or is he too blind to see the path set out for them? Although this is the last of this generation there is a great wrap up and the next gen to come!

Confusing Love

With this novel Liz Isaacson delves into the inner lives of both Ames Hammond and Sophia
Cooke. He can't figure out what to do with his life, and he's 40. He can't commit to one place, and she's an ex military brat who has moved to many times. She wants to stay in the place that finally feels like home. There is much soul searching and soul kicking. There are glimpses into the characters ' development. Sometimes I wanted to kick both Ames and Sophia in their respective posteriors. You really made them real, Liz

A cowboy billionaire who’s rough around the edges, the woman he ghosted last Christmas, and their second chance at happily-ever-after.

A great story with emotions, action, thrills, passion and romance and of course a cowboy. What more could you want? Fantastic, well developed characters you'll easily fall in love with. The story line flows smoothly through the pages and captures your attention. A wonderful second chance romance that's a heartwarming read.
