When I agreed to use my vacation to watch my best friend and baby sister get married, I had no idea I’d be strapped to her maid of honor, Alex – my boss and nemesis – for the entire week. When we turned to liquor to make the best of a bad situation, we woke to find our entire world turned upside down. It would be easy enough to forget the whole thing – we barely remember that night as it is – but when it happens again, something between us shifts from hatred into something else. That’s where things get complicated. It’s been said you sacrifice a lot for the ones you love. If that’s the truth, why does it feel like I’m the one getting scorched?
Kate Benson was raised in Texas and currently resides in central Florida with her husband and their furboy, Boomer. She learned to read at the age of four and has been hooked ever since. She credits her passion for literature to her mother, her love of story-telling to her father and her unwavering faith in happily-ever-after’s to her husband, Sean. Some of her favorite things include rainy days, loud music, superhero movies, hot tea and of course, lazy afternoons with a great book. Scorched is Kate Benson at her best, and it’s my favorite of the Frenemy Series!!!!
I was so excited when I discovered that Mason would be getting his very own book. He has the snark, strength, and sense of humor his sister Evie has. He will need all of that to survive her wedding week. Not only does he need to make this a perfect week for the sister he adores, but he has to put up with his biggest enemy, Alex, who also happens to be his boss in addition to Evie’s best friend.
Alex has the same feelings towards Mason. She hates the guy even if he is her best friend’s brother. But, she has decided she will put aside her feelings to make this the perfect week for Evie. But, you know what they say there is a fine line between love and hate. There is an undercurrent of electricity when the two enter the same place. Granted, they aren’t sure whether to punch or kiss each other. Those feelings become even more complicated after the two share too much liquor and an unforgettable night. Will they ever resolve their feelings for one another? One thing is for sure, buckle up because watching these two fall for one another will be a bumpy but hilarious ride.
Scorched is full of Benson’s trademark humor, yet it is full of spice and emotion. Both Mason and Alex are more than what they initially appear to one another. Alex has trust issues, and Mason really is a sweetheart!
Thank you, Kate, for including Evie and Dash. It was wonderful seeing them again. They were just as crazy as they have always been, and it felt like I was catching up with old friends. If you haven’t read this series and fallen in love with Evie, Dash, Alex, and Mason yet, you need to now!!!! I guarantee you won’t regret it!!!!
I wanted to give it a 10 star but couldn't. . I loved everything about mason's story with Alex. He has a much softer side to him then I ever thought he had . I am beyond happy that mason had found love .And omg everything that leads up the wedding of Evi and dash those vows and the after math, I just loved the whole book .. thank you Katie for yet another awsome book . You are amazing at what you do ❤
I really do hope this isn't the end I love this series, the banter is so easy, there's are so many laugh out loud moments you will also need some tissues in this book. But it brilliant love all of them Dash, Evie, Mason and Alex.
I have been hooked on this series since the beginning. Getting to hear Mason's story and still get my fix of Evie and Dash was perfect! Kate's stories are always well written and keep me turning the page. Another amazing book!
I'm so excited that Mason has his own story this is definitely one I've been waiting for and it was everything I hoped it would be. Mason we have met before in the other books in this series but I really enjoyed getting to know Alex she comes across as this really sassy individual whilst also have a shyness about her😍
Mason and his boss Alex definitely don't get along they are both head strong and clash on almost everything so how will they survive each other on a road trip and a whole week together. I'm not going to tell you anything more as I don't want to add any spoilers but be prepared to laugh and cry as they banter back and forth.
Mason's book could be read as a standalone but I would highly recommend reading the others in this series to get the full effect, also the banter and one liners will have you howling which I think everyone needs right about now!
Kate Benson has yet again blown me away with another fantastic read. Scorched is book 4 in the Frenemy series, which can also be read has a stand-alone if you wish. To feel the full feeling of emotions of the story it’s better to read the whole series. You’ll be laughing through out the story with the carry on of the characters. Mason and his boss Alex have a hate relationship from the first day they met at the bar they work at. They are both extremely stubborn and will they be able to get past each other’s barriers they have up!. If you’re wanting a great read and a laugh this is definitely the story you need to one click.
The only reason I rated this a 3 was because of the little bit of Evie and Dash that were in there. They were the saving grace of this book. I love Mason as a secondary character and was hoping I'd love his story, but honestly I really didnt enjoy his parts. He and Alex were very boring to me and I just couldnt get into their story. I love seeing dash and evie with the kids and their love and snarkiness was still there and completely enjoyable, but with out the, this book wouldve been a 1.5-2 star.
