Rate this book
The Admiral Saga continues.

In exchange for her help with apprehending the Admiral at Shangri La, the Imperium has chosen to overlook Private Tessa Salmagard's indiscretions. She's back aboard the flagship with Ensign Nils and Lieutenant Deilani, and she has a once in a lifetime opportunity: the Empress herself is aboard the Julian, and Salmagard's unit has a chance to protect her.

But Salmagard hasn't been herself since Shangri La, and she fails to re-qualify for active duty. Worse, she learns that the Admiral is alive and in New Brittia, dominating the galactic news cycle. Salmagard has twenty-four hours to try to salvage her career, and the Admiral's deadly predicament is a distraction she doesn't need. With the truth about the destruction of Little Norwich still clouded, and the shadow of another war looming, the future hangs in the balance.

The Admiral is only one of the forces moving to influence the outcome of the Empress' peace talks. Meanwhile, another unstoppable Evagardian war rages in the shadows at the highest levels of the Imperium, but everything is coming out into the light.

The Admiral series is so good. 👍 Snowblind did not disappoint. I couldn't put it down. Really enjoyed reading what Tessa has been up to. Denali and Nils are such intersting characters too.

Private Tessa Salmagard has not been having a good time since she met the Admiral. She crash landed on a hostile planet, died, was brought back, was kidnapped, and eventually made it to the Julian.
Yet she has been having trouble adjusting, and it has been affecting her qualifications.
Suddenly, a major event happens that turns her life upside down, and along with fellow Nidaros survivors Deilani and Nils, they have to make it through the deepest betrayal of their lives.

Danker piles up the epic twists in this page turning new installment of the Evagardian novels. It was difficult to put down, and the multiple unexpected turns and revelations left me shaken.

Danker mentioned that this could be read before Innocence, since they happen simultaneously, but I would recommend you read Innocence first, since there are a few slight spoilers that might not be understood in context otherwise.

Danker also stated he plans to release the next novel before the end of the year. I sure hope so, I am eager to see what comes next!

I think I'm done with Mr. Danker.

I kept up with the series because he writes decent action scenes and I liked the universe it took place in but he's writing it like a 19th century novelist who needs to keep readers strung along for the sake of selling more. Every book introduces new twists and new obfuscations that are never resolved, and the characters just keep getting into deeper and deeper piles of suck that they can't get out of while they either don't know what's going on or won't reveal what's going on to the reader. Three books in a row have ended with a cliffhanger and only one of them was even partially resolved.

At this point I feel like I'm being taunted by the author and he's lording it over his readers that he knows more than we do and is just laughing watching us get invested in a story that never ends or resolves anything, and nothing the protagonists do ever improves their standing. Apparently In my mind he's just going to keep putting his characters in shit situations and stripping them of agency just for the hell of it because he thinks it's fun. I don't.

#5 in the Admiral series.

There had better be some serious 'splainin' in one of these books soon because I can't figure out which side is the Empire and which the Rebellion! Just when I think that someone is an Obi Wan Kenobi or an Emperor Palpatine, things change. Even the characters are confused 😂 But at least it's confusing in a good way and not just to be obnoxious. It really is a twisty series.

This was a lot of fun because we had the three other characters from Book One back: Salmagard, Deilani and Nils. I really love their interaction. The Admiral wasn't with them because he's still...where he was in the last book. This isn't very revealing, I know! But I don't want to ruin anything for anyone. As a matter of fact the events taking place in this book are simultaneous with the events with the Admiral in the last one.

I think that's all I'm going to say since it's too difficult giving details without dropping a slew of spoilers. I sure am enjoying this series, though. I've bought the next two already.

This is another frenetic entry in the Admiral series. I would highly recommend the series.

The action has overlap with “Innocence” that would be a spoiler if read out of order. From the reader’s perspective the overlapping provides a sense of context that has been withheld through full books.

When I started the series I was reminded of “The Prisoner” in the anonymity of the protagonist. My favourite part of that series was that it was maintained to the last page. I dearly hope Mr. Danker would rather preserve the mystery than reveal it all through exposition.
