Jamie has got it bad for college heartthrob Lucas Black, and maybe there's a chance he can do something about it. Only there's one problem—Jamie is twenty years old and he's never kissed anyone, and he doesn't want to fumble his way through a first attempt with Lucas. He needs some experience. Needs a teacher. Someone who can show him how to be intimate and not make it weird.

Noah Brady, a grumpy friend of a friend, doesn't even like him. He's spent a year ignoring Jamie's existence. And yet somehow he's the one who ends up giving the lessons, teaching Jamie how to touch another man, until the line between lessons and reality begins to blur, and Jamie—well, sometimes it's hard to remember Lucas Black at all.

FIRST TOUCH is a 50,000-word tropey gay romance with steamy scenes and a happy ending.

This was adorable. I loved the first part of the story, every scene with Jamie and Noah was so tender and sweet.

The second part was a bit predictable.

However, none of this prevented me from thoroughly enjoying all the characters, the storyline, the dialogue and the humor.

i am conflicted af.

i really struggled with the writing style of this in the beginning— it felt pretty disjointed... and just strange? but i was curious enough about Jamie and Noah to keep going and it did get easier to decipher lol.

and im glad i did bcos Noah and Jamie were so... fascinating? their relationship was odd, to say the least, this constant push and pull, ebbing and flowing. but in this really soft and unassuming kind of way. it wasn’t the obnoxious kind of push and pull, full of angst and irritation, it was purely genuine with two people trying to grapple with their feelings.

they did come across as stilted sometimes mainly due to the writing style— it was third person, single POV written in the present tense. it was definitely a new experience for me lol. i read one review say something like it felt more like a first person POV just with Jamie talking about himself in third person😭 so specific yet so accurate. it was an odd choice for sure.

but ultimately, i enjoyed Jamie and Noah’s unique dynamic— with Noah doing everything in his power to avoid Jamie like the plague while making Jamie think Noah hates him... but also coaching Jamie to date someone else. they were shy, naive and soft which i thought was really cute, especially with Noah being so grumpy. it made untangling their blossoming relationship that much more fun to read— you could feel their confusion and hesitancy which i think really reflected their ages and personalities. it was executed well, for me.

i also appreciated the occasional flashback chapters to give some context and history to Noah and Jamie— and ultimately how Noah always avoided Jamie to the point Jamie thinks Noah hates him. bcos we’re told in the first chapter about their dynamic, but being shown a few of their past encounters really built up the story. and there weren’t many flashbacks either, thank fuck, bcos too many can also stifle the current story.

now i need to get a tad spoilery into why i couldn’t fully love this... so you’ve been warned.

Noah has been infatuated with Jamie this whole time... shocking, i know. he avoids him, dismisses him, ignores him bcos at first he thinks Jamie is in a relationship with their mutual friend, Clay, only to find out he’s not. but then thinks Jamie is straight... only to find out he’s not. both instances made Jamie completely unattainable to him. then for the rest of the year he continues to ignore, dismiss, and avoid Jamie until a party where Noah decides to see if there’s a chance between them.

now, poor little Jamie had goddman whiplash. Noah spent an entire year making Jamie (and most of their friends) think he dislikes Jamie— only for Noah to be so obsessed with him to the point he has a sketch pad full of drawings of Jamie dancing, as well as secretly going to all of Jamie’s dance recitals and drawing him as he dances. see i thought all of that was cute af but pardon me, how the fuck is Jamie supposed to know Noah is already half way in love with him if he’s spent an entire year ignoring Jamie??

all of their friends spoke in riddles towards the end about how they assumed or knew that Noah had feelings for Jamie and that poor, naive, sheltered Jamie was too dumb to figure it out? i– if i was Jamie i wouldn’t have a fucking clue either. only when they started their little experiment could Jamie have gotten an inkling of Noah’s feelings... but Noah was still so mysterious and standoffish when it came to his feelings, how tf was Jamie supposed to know?

i just didn’t vibe with Jamie feeling so lost and confused while the other characters were all metaphorically shaking their heads at him for being so blind... when Noah literally laid out zero clues for Jamie to figure out😭 like “ah yes, this grouchy fucker must really be obsessed with me bcos he spent the past year purposefully avoiding me, not showing up to group plans i was at but made sure to reschedule for when i wasn’t there, as well as completely ignoring me when i tried to make any kind of conversation...yes must be love🥰✨”

Noah acted all affronted when he saw Lucas trying to make a move on Jamie... but 1) hadn’t been overtly forward with Jamie until right before this encounter and 2) didn’t give Jamie a chance to communicate with him and explain what happened🤡 like Noah really wanted to play the victim so bad😭 and i just couldn’t fully vibe with that bcos he’d done the bare minimum and expected the most.

THEN when Jamie is so brutally and heartbreakingly honest, putting his heart on the line, exposes and raw for Noah, Noah has the audacity to make assumptions and decisions for Jamie saying it’s Lucas he wants and not Noah??

so this bitch really is blind, dead and dumb?? okay, cool. would have liked to know this info from the first chapter tho🥲

Jamie said he fucked up, blaming himself and i was like “bitch, sincerely, WHERE?” bcos Jamie just worked with what he had... which wasn’t a whole lot with Noah. didn’t like that it was his job to “win back” Noah when, for me, it was all kinda Noah’s fault for being a big dumb himbo.

soooo, after all that, finding out why Noah acted like that? it really undermined the romance for me😭 it all just felt so immature and dumb. i know i said early i enjoyed the soft, flustered fumblings between them bcos it reflected their age and personality... but this was just TOO dumb, you know?

and i know my little rant there has you wondering why i gave this three stars and looks like im shitting on the book... i really did love them as a couple. like i said, that soft, hopeful sincerity of two people figuring out their feelings was done really well and was cute af. but i just thought Noah’s actions were so dumb. it truly made no sense to me. but the way he loved Jamie was undeniably wholesome and all-consuming.

like the way the author described their kisses? it was swoonworthy☺️ they were like this whirlwind of desperation, finally giving into all these emotions neither one knew how to articulate. like this agonising sort it love. and when Noah was all in? that bitch was all in. it was seriously sweet watching him fall hopelessly in love with Jamie.

so, i think if you can look past the dumb-assery that is Noah’s behaviour, you’d like this book. it definitely kept me hooked— i read this in one sitting when i was supposed to be doing some reading for my class tomorrow morning... so i can’t deny the addictiveness of this. just in a bit of a dilemma bcos i equally loved this and was annoyed by it😭

"Can you just kiss me for real..Please? No pretending. Kiss me like you wanna kiss me."
"That's how I've always kissed you."

I am all warm and giddy inside, and I promise you - it's not the summer heat of August.

The book follows the story of Jamie, a gay virgin man who happens to be in love with the heartthrob Lucas. But oh, so shy. Also inexperienced. He can't make the first move yet, he doesn't want to disappoint Lucas, he wants to be ready for him.
So he needs a teacher - someone who will show him how to be intimate, how to touch and kiss, how to please a man.
And here comes Noah. Grumpy Noah. Noah, who avoids Jamie like he has the plague, yet he is willing to help him. Noah makes Jamie feels safe, he is soft and kind with him. Jamie can do this in the sake of his feelings for Lucas.
It's just that Noah makes Jamie feel so wanted and warm, and so,so good that he seems to forget about Lucas.
Fun fact: I kept imagine Lucas as Lucas from WayV.

A slow-built romance, full of gentleness and softness and it will just make you melt inside!
This little novel is a true gem for the lovers of the genre, it will bring so much joy to the reader!
Really well portrayed characters, even the secondary ones (I fell a little for Clay, ooof), and the relationships between them.
And don't let the promise of sweetness fool you, the heat is guaranteed too!
A really well worth read!

"Love, Actually" can be disguised as hate, but it's hard to keep repressed . . . . Especially when the dancer, who can't be distinguished from the dance, needs to learn how to kiss, and the reluctant instructor is none other than his paramour-in-waiting.

This freebie is all about the kiss. And to be honest, the sexiest, hottest moments by a long shot are the kissing scenes. Go figure. Or better yet, go read this college boy romance, capital R, that tips its hat to Cyrano de Bergerac.

Are these just lessons

Jamie has a crush on the hot guy in school but he's an inexperienced virgin who came out not to long ago. At 20 he decides he needs to practice. Weirdly enough he picks the guy who has been avoiding him for a year but he still feels like he would be patient.

The slow progression and build up for this story made it a great read. I will say that it was easy for me to see that why avoiding him, though it did not take away from the story at all. I felt so bad for Noah but I'm glad in the end it worked out. Even though it could have worked out sooner but that's what made the book so good.

Would definitely recommend this book

This has moments of cute and funny dialogue, but something about the narration was incredibly distracting. It's third person but so close and limited that it felt like first person, so it had this odd effect of making me feel like the main character was referring to himself in the third person. That may not bother anyone else though. Maybe the issue was just that I was expecting a first person narrator for some reason.

Our first mc is Jamie, he's sweet and very innocent. Our other mc is Noah, everyone thinks he's cold, but Jamie discovers that's not true. There were times throughout the book that I really wanted to shake each mc, but Jamie more so than Noah. The way these two fit together, they make a beautiful masterpiece. How easy it was for Jamie to be himself around Noah, to let out his vulnerable side, that's how love should be. I felt for Noah and the situation he had been in, while at the same time I loved that he was so determined to reach his goals. When Jamie allowed things to happen as they did on the back porch at the party, I was disappointed in him. This moment did however lead to Jamie's eyes finally being opened to the truth. And, I love the movie that helped Jamie to understand! I think I've watched it like a hundred times, and that revelation in the movie always pulls on my heart. I must say though, if Noah had just flat out said his thoughts and feelings things could have fell into place a lot quicker. But, I know that was what made the book, otherwise we would have had a completely different story. The lack of proper communication was key to bringing this story alive. Discovering that Noah is a total romantic was so cute. Him wanting to do things the right way was sweet. Everything at the end of the book was cute and sweet. These guys are meant to be, they are each other's missing half, and when put together, they make something beautiful and perfect.

Jamie is a virgin in every way. A dance major at the university, he and his roommate, best bud goes to parties just like all the other students. Jamie keeps meeting up with Lucas, a handsome and to Jamie unattainable student. Falling for his good looks, he yearns for more. Having just come out he lacks skills needed to obtain his heart desire and he turns to Noah, an art student to help him out. Despite Noah showing without a shadow of a doubt that he dislikes Jamie, he reluctantly agrees to teach Jamie to kiss. Things get all tangled up for Lucas, Jamie and Noah and Jamie no longer knows what he is feeling and for whom. A story that pulls the reader into a world of a virgin learning how to kiss. The sex is gentle, sweet and...well sexy. The author has done an exceptional job of portraying these men and their feelings. Each character's personality is built with care and gives the readers a glimpse into what could be a young male virgins life and his friends. Great read, great sexy scenes and sweet love. Well worth reading. I voluntarily read and reviewed this ARC book.

I have to say, I really loved this book. The writing was different from what I'm used to and I liked it. The two main characters are so sweet.

First of all we have Jamie, a nice and innocent sheltered man. He didn't realize he was gay before college and then he felt too awkward to be with anyone because of his lack of experience. He has a crush on popular guy Lucas but doesn't know how to act around him.

Here comes Noah, the awkward artist who doesn't seem to like Jamie at first.

They decide to practice kissing together and things develop from here.

Jamie and Noah were really cute together and I wish we had a bit more of them together.

My only problem with this book - and why it's not a 5 star - is that the backstories of the characters seem slightly rushed - we barely get glimpses of their past and of the consequences of this past on their present. I wish this had been more developped in the story.

Overall it was a cute love story and I cannot wait to read more from this author.

Jamie Scott has a massive crush on the hunky greek god on his college campus, who is none other than Lucas Black. Jamie can't help but be mesmerized by his handsome face and his soulful blue eyes that constantly dance with mischief.
But Jamie has a problem that needs to be fixed, he needs an experienced teacher to teach him the ropes so he doesn't have to fumble his way through his first encounter with Lucas.

Enter Noah Brady. He's spent a year ignoring Jamie's existence and yet here he is, showing Jamie the ropes on how to touch a man.

What happens when Jamie starts enjoying his lessons more than he's supposed to? Will he take a chance on his growing feelings for Noah or will he choose Lucas instead?

This was such a sweet romance!
Jamie was absolutely adorable and finding out that grumpy Noah is actually a romantic at heart is so endearing.
If you like a sweet first time romance with a touch of self discovery and lots of steamy sexual exploration. This is for you!

I liked the writing, it was a bit different in style then the usual run-of-the-mill romance, and I liked the dialogue.
The plot is based mostly on pining and yearning, and focuses on first experiences for a virginal, naive and a bit confused MC. Everything is described at length and with flourish, but by the end, when the MCs get to the "main event", it's dragged out so thoroughly that I got bored and... Well... I skipped it.

I understand the idea was to create a huge build up, but I feel like the author got carried away. I bet more patient readers than me will get through it and enjoy it, but I'm warning you - some frustration might be in the cards for you.

A végén együtt lesznek.

It was easy to understand why Noah avoided Jamie, and it was equally easy to imagine how things would go between them once they started "the lessons". Yet, that didn't diminish how much I enjoyed being a witness to their speed course on kissing.

Their reactions to one another were so sweet, passionate and innocent, in a way, that most of the time I was close to a puddle of awing goo.

This book was so, so cute. I didn't know I needed it until I started reading, and I appreciate the smile the story kept plastered on my face from beginning to the end.

I really liked the book. There is not much sexual content but building the tension between two people they like each other.
What I did not understand was that chapter under the prespectice of Noah when all the book is under the Jaime POV. I guess the author wanted to explain why Noah was avoiding Jaime, but it was unnecassary as we already knew what the reason was. Overall, I really enjoyed the characters and the story.

This book was better than I expected. Slow burn, sweet. Besides a few spelling mistakes and grammar it’s overall very well written. I was hoping for more books from this author but it looks like she’s only written one so far.

Gay virgin who never been kissed. Pining over a guy he thinks is unobtainable. Then a guy who he thought hated him offers to help him gain some experience. After a few meetups it turns into something more. Such a good read.

So sweet!

This is my 1st book by this author and it was a great one to start with. Such a sweetly beautiful love story. I usually prefer my romance down and dirty with a little sweetness sprinkled in. This book takes something as simple as kissing and makes it more erotic than a full on sex scene. I cant say enough about this and cant wait to read more from the author.

Inexperienced First Love

I enjoyed this book! There were (mostly) ups and very few downs for me. I love a book where inexperienced boy goes to someone else for "experience". In this case Jamie has no experience, as in never been kissed. He asks an older boy, who seems to dislike Jamie, to help him get some experience so Jamie can land the hot guy he really wants, Lucas. Jamie is al kinds of nervous around Lucas and he thinks if he gains some experience in kissing, he can feel more secure and date Lucas.

There was a bit of miscommunication as always happens in Romances. Jamie is confused with how he feels about Noah, the older boy who is giving him his first experiences. Noah seemed to dislike him in their first few interactions. But as the first touch leads to many more, Jamie has to wonder who he really wants.

I liked this book. I was frustrated in some areas because it went into the past then back into the present. It really did seem that Noah didn't like Jamie and for no apparent reason. But later it comes together. I would read this again and more from same author.

This book made me SWOON. I honestly didn't expect much at all from it and was so pleasantly surprised!
I loved Jaime and I loved Noah and them together was just.. so perfect. I like that the bit of drama at the end wasn't drawn out and that the MCs talked things out pretty quickly. I also enjoyed this author's writing style. She made a kissing scene almost make me cry, so. I'll definitely be on the lookout for other books by her.

It's a crime this book only has 128 ratings.

Take the 'inexperienced mc who has a somewhat superficial crush on popular boy but is scared to act on said crush because, as aforementioned, they are inexperienced, so comes up with the master plan to take sexy time lessons from someone they think has always hated them but has been pining (with a capital P) for them since day one' trope (I have actually read a surprising amount of books following this trajectory lol)... but make it so soft, so tender, so lovely. That's this story.

Such a delightful surprise. Reminded me of Foreplay by Sophie Jordan except mm. It had spice without feeling like a 'spicy' book, ya know? It had actual emotional development, something I have found a lot of my lighter romance reads are severely lacking these days.
