Was it wrong to tell Beau’s mother he’s my boyfriend? Yes. Would I do it again? In a heartbeat. The smokin’ hot fireman isn’t exactly in the closet, but he’s been keeping things quiet for years. I don’t do quiet. All the guys in Hell’s Ankhor know I have to be true to myself. That’s why they call me Tru. Beau and I are nothing alike. Doesn’t matter. The attraction between me and the fire chief is hot enough to burn. But there’s danger in town, too much for us to get hung up on each other. Yeah, too late for that.
Do I want to kill Tru for lying to my mom? A little. But the look on her face was worth the fallout. The easy-going biker is nothing like me. He’s impulsive. Brash. Happy. I’ve never dated another guy before, and I should probably walk away. Too bad I can’t. When we get wrapped up in an arsonist’s plot, I have to wonder if Tru wants me or an open flame. My doubts are nearly enough to smother any ember of love, but I need to be stronger than that. Can we still make things work after all the flames are doused?
Tru has bad boys, bikers, and a fire chief finally ready to step all the way out of the closet and into the arms of his not-so-fake boyfriend.
So, I was really enjoying this up until Beau lost his mind!
All I can say is that if I were Tru, there is not a single chance I would forgive my boyfriend for believing me capable of, and flat out accusing me of arson and murder - and he did it in front of the whole club too!
There was really no excuse for it and I was gobsmacked Beau was forgiven so quickly. Ok, he nearly died in a house fire but that doesn't erase your past behaviour or make you less of a cunt!
I really hate when one character behaves so awfully but it's completely forgiven and forgotten because something bad then happens to them. Maybe I'm just too hard hearted, but it definitely wouldn't be even remotely ok with me for someone I cared about to treat me like that.
I pretty much lost all respect for Tru at that point 🤷🏻♀️
So, it was great until it wasn't, and then it wrapped up so quickly and I was just over it.
I'm really hoping Joker's book will be better because I do have a weakness for the emotionally damaged characters, especially when they try to hide behind humour.

I DNF this at the %51 mark. Couldn't connect with the characters, with their relationship or anything that was happening. The love was too insta even though one of them was being a total ass and hot and cold, I was bored so I left it at that.
I received a free copy from Booksprout in exchange for an honest review Not my favourite of the series but not the worst. Tru is an intriguing character, while Beau is frustrating AF with his back and forth. The fake boyfriend trope was cute but the lie didn’t last nearly as long as I’d hoped. It’s safe to say these two grew on me but it was a struggle to get to the end and took me almost a week to read.
Tru's book was not what I was expecting, that is for sure. Did I love it? YES!! With how Dante ended and the little sneak peek we got of Beau and Tru I expected this book to be mostly lighthearted fun but it was real.
Beau had a lot of problems with being who he wanted to be as far as his sexuality. He has known he was gay for years but with this mother always calling it a "phase" it was easier for him to stick to random hookups than cause any kind of riff in his family. All that changes when he meets Tru, he knows he doesn't have time for more, so he puts it out of his head, but the gorgeous biker keeps coming around testing his control and his heart. When Beau's mother is trying to set him up with, yet another woman Tru comes to the rescue as his fake boyfriend for the wedding. A fake date shouldn’t be hard but what was supposed to be one fake night turned in to something very real for Beau.
Tru doesn't do relationships because it is easier than trying to let someone in just to be let down again. Beau, the HOT fire chief who is helping with the investigation into Stella's bakery is on a totally different level. He cannot get Beau out of his head. Before he knows what is happening, he is offering to be Beau's date to his sister's wedding. How did that happen? One minute he was an innocent bystander and the next he has a date with this guy's stuck-up family. Tru is prepared for what is to come at the wedding but what he isn't prepared for is how real everything feels with Beau. Can Tru convince the fire chief that is time for him to start living his life the way he wants to?
I really did enjoy this book; it probably would have been one of my favorites but there were a few things left unresolved for me. I wish we could have seen Beau stand up to his Mom and tell him this is the way things were going to be. I hate when books make a person completely accapteing for a happy ending, but it would have been nice for Beau and Tru's relationship. I've really grown to love this series so much, and Joker's book is next followed by Nix's I just hope that won't be the end of Hell's Ankhor.
These two very talented authors continue to amaze me with their enthralling MM/MC romances & this is the seventh book in the “Hell’s Ankhor” series. This is a very interesting MM/MC romance that has a well-paced plot filled with some intriguing events that are well-described & has good world building. There are character crossovers from the previous books but this book can be read as a standalone although I would recommend reading the series in sequence to fully understand the underlying story-line. The characters (Tanner aka Tru & Beau) are well-developed & interesting with strong-willed personalities but are realistically flawed & at first appearance seem to have nothing in common but actually they complement each other as they continue to develop throughout the storyline. There is: a fire-chief (Beau) receives the shock of his life when a sergeant-at-arms MC rider (Tru) tells Beau’s manipulative mother (Heather) that they are together naturally she is not very happy, two straight-forward caring grandmothers, a despicable arsonist, a supportive MC club, action, adventure, twists & turns, intrigue, drama, suspense, family issues, friendship, comradery, mystery, deceit, betrayal, arson, murder, strange attractions, complications, threats, danger, violence, frustration, suspicions, confrontations, accusations, confusion, misunderstandings, disagreement, regrets, compromises, contentment, love, some steamy scenes & a well-deserved, satisfying happy conclusion for this couple with a interesting ending that is paving the way for the next book in this series & I am looking forward to it with great anticipation.
Tru is book 7 in the Hell's Ankhor series. I love this well written book about Tru and Beau. The Liberty Crew and Hell's Ankhor motorcycle clubs have joined together to make The Hell's Ankhor Crew. Dante made treats for the firefighters who put out the fire at Stella's, the club's bakery. Tru brought them to the fire house on the off chance he'd see Beau, the fire chief. Beau's mother had shown up trying to talk Beau into meeting some woman to take to his sister's wedding. Tru heard this and told Beau's mother that he was going with Beau to the wedding and that he was Beau's boyfriend. Let the fake relationship begin. I love Tru and Beau together, their so good for each other. Their rode to a real relationship wasn't easy, but they never gave up, even when things got really bad. Definitely recommend this book and series.

Tru is a smart aleck filled with all the snark and jokes you may want. But, he's also a deeply caring man, I think. He really does want to help people, and if he can be the life of the party while doing it, he will. He's just very much who he is and who he wants to be. Very fun.
Beau is... nearly none of those things. I really hate his mom and what she has done to him. I mostly like him, but there was one minute where I just wanted to smack the crap out of him.
Hmmm i really don't know. Beau was so boring but i loved Tru. Don't know about these two together tho... even their angst made me feel nothing. I think they lacked passion.
The book was ok - the writing was not bad - but the whole arsonist plot was not interesting to me and it was pretty obvious who was doing everything. And again, Beau was so boring. Like literally the most boring man ever. Honestly i would prefer a book about the adventures of their iconic grandmas than the Beau POVS.
4.5 This book was really a fun read. Oh my goodness but the stress of the last 20% or so had me reading through my fingers. I could see what was going to happen and I had a feeling about who the arsonist was. However, it was really well written and exciting.
2.5 stars. Unfortunately, this was my least favorites of the books so far. The summary made this seem like it was going to be a fake dating thing when really that's just a minor element. There was also way less action, which I didn't love and we didn't see as much from the other crew members. It didn't help that they were trying to set up Joker for the next book and I really didn't like his character. Beau and Tru are fine as heroes and there were some moments between them I liked. You can't see this from the cover art (unfortunately) but Tru is Thai. This is the first book IIRC that mentions the impact of racism on a character so I guess it's good the author is acknowledging those topics. I can't speak to the representation but nothing struck me as obviously harmful or wrong when the character discussed racism directed towards him. It did seem pretty surface level to me. It's definitely not the most affecting description of racism I've ever heard but as I said, it's probably good Bates is touching these topics more. Next time they should get accurate representation on the cover as well. I think I'll probably skip the next book and wait for book 9 if I continuing. I don't know enough about Brennan to really care about his story, I don't like Joker, and the plot synopsis doesn't sound interesting to me. It was fun to pick up this series again, this one just wasn't for me.
I liked this book way more than I thought damnn. ngl Beau was an asshole for blaming Tru but I also understand so hahahah I am happy they got their happy ending. and who could have those Beau was liked bottoming this much.
tropes and tags strangers to lovers fake dating (very small time) lust at first sight found family fire fighter x biker hands free orgasm (beau) versatile (Beau likes bottoming a lot hence the hands free orgasm. still they are vers)
TW/CW intentional arson ( a lot) death cause of arson Mc burned and injured by arson (multiple times) MC's hoise burned left on read/ignoring after hookup

“You make me want to be myself.” Of the many wonderful things I can say about Tru and Beau, including their fiery chemistry, I believe after everything they went through apart and together, they have a very bright and real future ahead of them. Tru won my heart with his mischievous and caring nature. Beau, well I wanted to shake some sense into that guarded man. Luckily, they both have some amazing family and friends to support them and do that for us when needed. I can’t get enough of Hell’s Ankhor and Liberty Crew and so happy there’s more to come.
Tru’s a member of the Liberty Crew Motorcycle Club and loves flirting with Beau, the Fire Chief who’s the lead investigator after the fire that broke out at the bakery, Stella’s. Beau is attracted to Tru, but he has a standoffish attitude when the gorgeous biker is around him.
Beau’s mother, Heather constantly nags Beau about finding a woman to settle down with; she’s perfectly aware that her son is gay but continues to ignore that fact. Beau married his high school friend, Nora, as a young teen after she found out she was pregnant. Nora had lost the baby and they divorced shortly after. Now Nora’s second-in-command at the station and is pregnant with her new husband.
Beau’s mother doesn’t give up easily; she wants to replace Nora with another woman for Beau. She calls Beau at the fire station and once again brings up the same subject about the woman she picked out for him to take his sister’s wedding. Luckily, the fire station’s alarm goes off and hangs up on her to go to the call.
While out on his call, Tru happened to show up when he saw the smoke from the road. Verbally, Beau pushes Tru away, but the sense of humor Tru has taken it in stride. Tru had a mission to take baked goods to the fireman at the station and left Beau with an upbeat good-bye.
When Beau got back from the fire, Tru was there. Instead of greeting Tru, Beau headed for the showers before he went into the fire station's kitchen. That’s when he sees the gorgeous biker sitting at the table laughing with his ex-wife and touching her pregnant belly. Beau, not happy Tru was there because the guy is a distraction found out he had brought scones for the station made by Dante from Stella’s.
Of course, Heather shows up unexpectedly wanting Beau to drop everything and go to lunch with. She’s really is a nag/bitch and she was there to harass Beau, in person, again about taking that woman he should go to the wedding with. Beau once again tells his mother that he’s gay and will not go to the wedding with her friends’ daughter.
Tru watched the interaction and felt Beau needed rescuing. So Tru got up from the table and walked gracefully over to Beau to stand beside him. Tru being an outspoken person introduces himself and tells Heather Beau was taking him to the wedding seeing he was his boyfriend. What a character Tru is, he’s a riot and I love his character in the book. I also love Beau’s character. These two men are perfect together.
The two hit it off at the wedding and every gesture of togetherness was actually getting Beau to like Tru but felt the biker would never want to go out with him for real. Tru went home with Beau and they had amazing sex and wanted Tru to stay the rest of the night. But when Beau woke in the morning, he got cold feet from how well the two fit together. He left shortly after Tru woke up and told his lover to lock up after he leaves.
Since the wedding and their beautiful night together, Beau tried to stay away from Tru but discovered he really wanted to see Tru again. But Beau had ignored Tru’s texts and the man probably wouldn’t talk to him. But Tru has a heart of gold and wants to be with Beau as much as he can. The two decide to really date and give a try at a relationship, and they were so perfect together their relationship grew.
With a new relationship, Beau doesn’t have a lot of free time and he feels guilty, but the two lovers’ take whatever time they could make for each other. Beau’s distracted with an arsonist on the loose and he has no leads. With work problems in finding who the arsonist is, his mother on his back again about Tru, and the serious suggestions about who the arsonist might be from a fellow co-worker put the couple’s relationship on edge.
But Beau had a problem to solve at work and that was an arsonist that he had no clues as to whom. Then a fellow fireman suggested who the arsonist is and Beau doesn’t believe the man. Until another fire when Beau discovers Tru’s leather jacket among the ashes and snaps. He was hurt, felt betrayed by Tru, and jumps to the conclusion his lover was the arsonist. Beau doesn’t think, he just reacts to the evidence and storms off to the motorcycle’s club.
Both clubs were having a party, and Beau burst into the backyard and created a scene accusing Tru of arson and murderer and shakes the biker’s jacket as his proof. Tru’s brothers stand by him and force Beau to leave the premises. Poor Tru had no idea where this was coming from or why Beau accused him. When Tru’s brother’s brought to Beau’s attention that Tru worked at the place that was burnt down, and Beau instantly realizes he falsely accused his lover and he just ruined the best thing that had walked into his life, Tru.
There’s so much more to the book. Who is the arsonist? Can Tru and Beau get back together? There’s so much more to learn but I don’t want to spoil what happens further. This is a great addition to the “Hell’s Ankhor” series. The authors bring their characters to life with real emotions, and it kept me engaged. Honestly, what a great series, and I’m interested to see what happens in the next book.

I really liked this installment of the Hell’s Ankhor series. It picks up where the previous book left off. I would not say that this would work as a standalone because there isn’t a lot of exposition, and there are cameos from a lot of characters from previous books. One thing that was kind of confusing was that the author kept alternating between calling Dante “Dare” and calling him “Dante.” In one paragraph he would be Dare and in the next he would be Dante. I looked back at the previous book and I was reminded that Tru’s nickname for him was Dare (they were Truth and Dare), but he was mostly called Dante in the last book. He was only referred to as Dare a few times. I had totally forgotten that he had been called Dare on occasion, so in the first chapter of Tru I was having a hard time following what was going on. Heath was baking with Dare and flirting with Dante at the same time and I had no idea who Dare was.
This book was a departure from the previous books in the series because it took place at the new chapter of Hell’s Ankhor (formerly Liberty Crew) but also the love interest was totally different. In the previous books, the love interest had always been another biker, or someone in trouble, or someone with a dubious background. In this case Beau was a fire chief from an upperclass background. There was more interaction with their families than we have seen in the past, mostly good. Their grandmas were a hoot. A lot of it took place outside of the clubhouse. I feel like the firefighter aspect was more dominant than the biker aspect. And Tru was nothing like the gruff bikers that we have seen before. He was fun and flirty. I liked the two of them together. I liked how confident Tru was, and went after what he wanted.
It’s so common for books in a series to start to seem the same and follow the same formula, so this was refreshing. It was fun, plus there was a little angst thrown in, which I love.
I had been suspecting for a while that a certain character was going to get his own book, and I was correct, based on the way Tru ended. And it is a character that I really don’t like so I am interested to see if and how he will be redeemed.

OUTSTANDING READ!!! 10/10 I WISH I COULD GIVE IT MORE STARS WOW I AM IN LOVE WITH TRU!!!! WHAT A MAN AND BEAU IS ALRIGHT TOO Tru had his eye on Beau for a while after the fire at Dare's bakery. Beau was the fire chief and he was just had something that made Tru feel like he wanted to get to know him more. But for all his flirting Beau didnt flirt back. But that wasn't going to stop Tru. Beau had a lot on his plate, his mother was on his case because his Sister was getting married and they had him down to bring a guest. And although he had told his family he was gay his mother thought it was just a faze and kept throwing woman at him. Also there was an arsonist who was getting better and better at the fires he was starting and Beau was struggling to figure out who he/she was. Tru stopped at the fire station to take some baked goods that Dare had made to thank them for their work on the fire at his bakery and to see Beau again. He was talking when Beaus mother arrives giving him a hard time again about the wedding when Tru can not help himself and before he knows it he has his arm around Beas waist and introduces himself as Beau's boyfriend. Would Beau let his happen or would he call Tru out on the lie????? WOW THIS IS A FANTASTIC READ. I FELL FOR TRU IN A BIG WAY HE IS PATIENT, UNDERSTANDING, PASSIONATE, FUNNY, CARING, LOVING AND HE HAS A HEART OF GOLD. HE DIDNT WANT TO RUSH BEAU BUT HE WANTED BEAU TO KNOW WHAT HE WANTED. BUT BEAU ISNT SURE WHAT HE WANTS HE KNOWS THAT TRU MAKES HIM WANT TO HOOK UP BUT AFTER THAT WHAT??? BEAU IS MARRIED TO HIS JOB AND HE ISNT SURE WHAT HE REALLY WANTS BUT AFTER SPENDING TIME WITH TRU AT THE WEDDING BEAU KNOWS HE WANTS HIM!!!!!! I JUST COULDNT PUT THIS BOOK DOWN AND AT TIMES MY HEART WAS IN MY MOUTH AND OH DID I WANT TO HIT BEAU UP AGAINST THE HEAD FOR HIS STUPIDITY. BUT TRU BEING TRU, ALTHOUGH HE GETS HURT HE STILL LOOKS FOR THE BEST IN BEAU AND IT WAS BRILLIANT TO SEE THE OTHER MEMBERS OF THE MC AND HOW THEY ARE DOING. I CAN NOT WAIT FOR JOKER'S BOOK I WILL ADMIT TO NOT REALLY LIKING HIM WHEN HE POPPED UP IN OTHER BOOKS BUT I HAVE A FEELING HE IS GOING TO MAKE MY HEART MELT FOR HIS STORY.

DNF @ 47% *sigh* Where to begin... I was so excited about the continuation of this series. I even went as far to mark the release date on my calendar. I’ve loved each of the other books in this series BUT... this book was horrible. I tried. I really did.
First there were very little if anything to do with the MC which was the main attraction for me to this series. It’s more about two random guys in lust with each other. Loved the character of Tru and I’m sad he was wasted on this story.
Beau was an absolute disaster of a character to me. The whole mommy might get mad thing got old by the second time it’s mentioned. My god man you’re 38 and still wanting mommy to tell you she’s proud and approves of everything you do?! Does she cut your meat up for you too? His mommy issues would be a major turn off to Tru I would think. He’s supposedly so attractive to Tru because of how strong and manly he is. It’s not very manly to have to get a gold star from mommy every five minutes.
Although I didn’t finish the book I can see where the whole fire starting storyline was going. Beau is eventually going to accuse Tru of setting them or at least a suspicion of such. I mean you had Jono pretty much saying that as a joke. (Thinly veiled foreshadowing?) I see that coming a mile away. If only to have yet another excuse for not disappointing mommy. (Reminds me of Disney Robin Hood’s Prince John. I keep flashing in my mind him squealing mommy and sucking his thumb.)
Lastly, the author really ticked me off with the lecturing. Let’s see there was a lecture about assuming ethnicity, lecture about assuming language dialect. Lecture on his mom assuming being gay was a phase. I’m sure there were more lectures down the pike but I’ve had enough. This author has never done the lecturing thing before in their books that I can remember but if this is a new trend I will be quitting them. I don’t need lecturing on equality or any other high handed thing they want to. Especially when the author “whitewash’s “ the cover to not show his Thai heritage. Hypocrite much?
Tanner "Tru" was the type of biker you might expect. As a longtime member of Liberty Crew, he invested a lot of time in the community but not in himself. Hook ups were easier than the burden of long term relationships. Until his crew began slowly peeling off into the monogamous bliss. Big personality, mega watt smile, flowing hair, tattoos, biker. What's not to love? A certain fire chief leaves him speechless and flustered.
Beau got in his own way when it came to happiness. He struggled with his sexuality, not because he lied about preferring to date men, but due to his hands off approach in dealing with his excessively pushy mother. He reacted first and asked questions later. It was interesting to see him lose his control where it mattered. Especially with the kind of job he holds and is necessary to maintain a certain level of cool.
Both Tru and Beau struggled to find the middle ground in navigating their relationship. In the midst of all this turmoil the firebug was still on the path of destruction. One man almost his life and the other, his freedom. When his back was against the wall, he came out swinging and blamed Tru off. It was a long, hard road but these two will work it out in the best way for them.
I don't care what anyone says. The second biggest and brightest characters in this book were the grandmothers. Tru's yai, Vichuda, and Beau's grandmother, Patricia were the best. Neither had a problem speaking their minds. If it weren't for grandma Patricia, Beau would have messed up more times than I can count with Tru.
Up next, in Hell's Ankhor, Joker. Can't wait.

Tru has had a thing for fire chief Beau for quite some time. Despite Beau’s ornery personality Tru isn’t giving up. He loves to torment the fire chief. When he interferes with Beau’s mom and tells her that he and Beau are boyfriends he can’t make himself regret it. At least he gets to go on a date with him...fake or not it’s still a date.
Beau isn’t sure if he should be angry with Tru for telling his mother that he and Tru are boyfriends but after the countless times his mother tried setting him up with woman and the expression on her face it was well worth the lie. Now the only problem is he actually has to take Tru to his sister’s wedding. He won’t deny that he’s drawn to Tru. How could be not be. There’s just something about Tru that makes people want to be around him.
There’s an undeniable attraction between Beau and Tru. However Beau fights it every step of the way because his parents don’t want to accept the fact he’s gay and it’s just easier for him to not date at all. But after spending time with Tru, Beau comes to see the different layers to Tru and what he sees he likes very much.
Danger is lurking and there’s an arsonist loose in their town. Beau is so focused on stopping the arsonist that he may end up driving Tru away.
Tru was an amazing character to read. I couldn’t help but have a smile on my face whenever he was talking or someone was talking about him. There’s just something that draws you to him. Maybe it’s his happy and relaxed demeanor that pulls you in. All I know is I couldn’t get enough of him. Tru was the perfect fit for Mr. Uptight fire chief.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
Where to start with this book? Like the rest of the series IT IS AMAZING!! If you've read any of the previous books in the series you know exactly what you're about to read; if you haven't WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN???
The story is great, the writing is great, the characters are great, can you see a pattern? Aiden Bates and Ali Lyda have created a family within a motor cycle gang who have expanded to find their own personalities, people and lives outside of the gang and along the way they have brought together a library of hot, sexy, deeply tortured souls who want to love and be loved and loved they definitely are!
As always the writing is amazing; it's descriptive to the point that you can smell the smoke from the barbeque, the fire, the bikes, the ashes, the scones, the grandmothers perfume, the lube. You can hear the buzz of the over head light in the bedroom, you can hear the scream of the radio, the roar of the bikes. The emotional pull between characters pulls on the reader's heart as it does on theirs.
The two main characters are drawn so well; one out and proud, taking no prisoners the other still out but hiding his light waiting for his moment to shine bright and this is written in such a sensitive yet powerful way that you can't help but feel his pain.
I love this book; If I didn't have to sleep I'd have read it in one sitting! If it's your type of book add it to your Kindle today xx

Beau is a firefighter investigating the bakery fire for the Liberty Crew which is how he met Tru. Tru is a biker with the Liberty Crew now merged with Hell’s Ankhor MC. Tru enjoyed checking out Beau’s muscles and thought he saw some interest in Beau’s eyes. But Beau wasn’t ready to act on it. His mother was always trying to pressure him into going out with women and he felt the pressure. And he has his hands full worrying about an arsonist. He doesn’t have time to pursue anything else.
When Beau’s mother starts pushing him again on the dating, Tru steps up to admit he is Beau’s boyfriend! Nothing holds Tru back, it seems! Will Beau finally give in and give Tru a chance? Will Beau ever catch his arsonist?
This author combination does a wonderful job with their books, and this one was no exception. The characters are always so real, dependable, and likable. The reader instinctively wants to see them reach their goals, or meet their needs, or whatever it is they are striving for, because they deserve it! They are good people doing good things for others. Tru and Beau have a bumpy road ahead. Grab your copy and enjoy the various characters you will meet here. Their teasing and banter just draws me right in and it gives a “family” feeling to the guys which the reader will immediately notice.
I recieved this book for Free to Give My True & Honest Review.
Heck I knew from seeing the bit of Tru in previous books that he needs someone to be JUST for him. But it's the way he puts himself there as the Fire Chief of Elkin Lake North, Beau's other half for the upcoming elevate wedding of his Sister's Anna, ESPECIALLY as his mother was trying to push him constantly to take this stranger even though Tru himself is a stranger also. And this is the start of the way the 2 of them start their relationship whilst Beau & the rest of the fire team are fighting the deliberate fires. And Beau isn't that sure of himself in starting ANYTHING with Tru especially as he'll be his first male relationship, as he hasn't really been in one since he & his 2nd in command Nora a couple of decades prior, when they were only in their early 20's.they've been best mates since school & even now with her being married with children. But I could bash Beau's head when he really couldn't see what's RIGHT in front of him & Not to listen to another, but then I suppose he trusted his young colleague Jono who he's known longer than the Biker whom he's only known a short while. And its during the time of the worse fire that the tears started by what was happening. But what a fantastic HOT, in Every Aspects love story ❤️
Liberty Crew has joined forces with Hell's Ankhor as officially as they can be especially after Heath of Hell's Ankhor fell in love with Dare/Dante, the vice president of Liberty Crew. The two MC's have worked together before but are now officially collaborating on more stuff.
Tru is amazing, his optimism and his ability to see the good in everyone, always giving them the benefit of the doubt especially when they are being judgmental on him, he has gotten use to it since it has always been like that for him. But when he is in his club, he can be himself, they truly love him for being himself.
As they say opposites attract. Tru has been crushing hard on the Fire Chief, Beau, whose station put out the fire in Stella's. Beau comes from a rich family, and growing up he has learned some prejudiced ideas from his mother that he found out to be just that, prejudiced. When a situation called for him to bring a date to a big and important family affair, Tru volunteered himself as his boyfriend, in front of Beau's mother.
Although this particular tale veered from what we expected, based on previous books, it is quite refreshing. I love Tru! Beau can be dense sometimes, maybe due to the fact that he grew up with money. But he is trying though, really hard, especially when it comes to Tru.
This is one story I wish was longer. This story makes me want to re-read the series. Tru has a complicated background, but chooses to live his life more positively. He still carries heavy baggage, but he sets it down often. Beau, Fire Chief chose a path in life that lets him serve his community instead of living a life of privilege as his Mom wishes. Beau came out, but his Mom is in serious denial. She tries to set him up with a date with a woman for his sister, Anna's wedding. He carries heavy baggage. Beau notices Tru around the club when he investigates the fire at the bakery. Tru notices Beau and lets him know his interest every chance he gets. Tru seizes an opportunity and tells Beau's Mom, he will be going to the wedding with Beau. It could be another weight added for Beau, but he is intrigued. There is an arsonist plaguing the community and Beau takes it very seriously. Will Beau crack under all the weight? Is Tru adding to the weight or helping to carry some? Good story. A bit of excitement. Miscommunication. Near tragedy. We get to meet Tru's and Beau's Grandmothers who are a hoot! I would like to hear more about these two. Well done! Ohhhh, the drama. My god, the drama. The more of this series that I read, the less able I am to see these dudes as macho bikers. They come across more like prepubescent teens at a slumber party. They are all waaaay too invested in the personal lives of the other club members. All they talk about with one another are their relationships and their feelings. It is literally all they ever talk about. It makes for the strangest disconnect when placing that constant emotional outpouring against the backdrop of a biker club. It just doesn't fit. At all. These are without a doubt the most sensitive bikers I've ever read about, and it tends to get very wearing very quickly.
Even discounting the overwhelming abundance of unnecessary drama and tears, this book felt a bit too all over the place for me. The fake dating angle lasted about five seconds and only existed because Beau is an almost forty-year-old man who is apparently completely reliant on the approval of his mother in every decision he makes about his own personal life. (Seriously, how did it take him almost TWENTY YEARS of his mother being in denial about his sexuality before finally telling her off?!) And the "twist" at the end was way too comic-book-villain level of ridiculous. The whole thing just made me laugh. It was obviously thrown in for nothing more than added conflict to flesh the second half of the book out. Nothing about the ending worked for me.
And speaking of things that don't work, I would like to talk about the cover. Holy whitewashed book cover, Batman! For an MC who was apparently so CLEARLY clockable as ethnic, that is not what was shown on the book cover. The eponymously titled book cover featuring the biracial main character who did not look even the slightest bit Asian to me, despite his past trauma with racial discrimination and the fact that the phrase "hot brown guy" was used by Tru himself within the story. This is the exact same issue I had with the book cover of Dante. I am so beyond sick of reading stories by authors who either do not feel the need to or do not see the problem with not accurately portraying a character of color on the front cover of a novel. This is not diversity. If you're going to write an ethnic character, you need to be willing to follow that description through and show them accurately. Dante is described as a dark-skinned character, but you would never guess it from his book cover. Tru is biracial and has apparently struggled with racist and discriminatory comments all his life about his looks, but you would never guess that from the cover. There is nothing more frustrating than an author who tries so hard to push diversity without actually presenting that diversity.
Also, I still have so many questions about Tru's family that were never answered. Do both his parents speak Thai? Or did he learn the language from only one parent? Or was it his grandma who taught him? Do either of his parents also know Muay Thai? Did he learn Muay Thai to be closer to his cultural roots? Or did his parents push him into it? Who taught him to cook? Was it his grandmother or one of his parents? There are so many aspects of an individual's ethnicity that I don't really see explored by authors when they write a character such as Tru. It really didn't go into his ethnic background at all other than repetitive, glossed-over mentions of all the discrimination he's faced and the fact that he speaks Thai and can cook Thai food. There is so much more to an individual's ethnicity than childhood prejudices from strangers, but I didn't really seem to get anything beyond that from this book. The whole thing was nothing but a neverending frustration for me.
There’s real chemistry, physical and emotional, between fire-chief Beau and motorcycle sergeant-at-arms Tru, and the best scenes in the novel are the ones they share together. The background, an arsonist escalating to murder, is engrossing for a while, but the resolution is over-the-top and not super believable. Also, the dynamics of Tru’s motorcycle club are intense, and for me, not in a good way: there’s a lot of language about family and Tru always protests that he’s not a criminal, but the club is super cliquish and it really squicked me out that Beau was constantly answering not just to Tru, but also to Tru’s entire club, even to the point of having to refer to the club president as “sir” and being obliged to make restitution to the whole club when he messes up in his relationship with Tru. To me, that screams ‘gross imbalance of power,’ not ‘fun and supportive family-like group.’ That said, the romance elements are super hot, and I enjoyed the read when I wasn’t thinking too much about the club dynamics.

I loved Beau and Tru. Beau had come out to his very wealthy parents but his mom liked to pretend that it had never happened and just keeps trying to set him up with women. He hasn't met anyone that makes him want to rock the boat so he just gently fobs her off. That is until he meets Tru. When Tru steps in and pretends to be Beau's boyfriend at first Tru is angry but it isn't long before anger turns into something so much more. But there has been a string of arsons and Beau is run ragged with trying all the callouts, trying to maintain a new relationship and trying to catch an arsonist. With him being so stressed he makes a couple of big mistakes with Tru but Tru finds himself ready to forgive because he hasn't felt this way about anyone before. But when Beau listens to a little birdy in his ear and makes a mistake so big that it breaks all trust between him and Tru and Tru's family, the MC, will he be able to make it right and can Tru forgive something that big? The characters are superbly crafted, the story is emotional and exciting and this is simply a perfect addition to the series.

This is gripping and intense, romantic and amusing. Tru, a member of the Liberty Crew MC, has been hard flirting with Beau for months but getting nowhere. Until the day he was at the station dropping off some goodies from the guys, and to flirt some more. Beau's mother had been trying to get him to meet a nice, respectable woman so that his gay phase would end, and she was there again trying to set him up for his sister's wedding. Tru overheard, and was indignant for Beau, so he introduced himself as Beau's boyfriend. That fake date turned into real dating, eventually. But Beau's mind was too obsessed with finding the serial arsonist in town to really spend any time on a relationship, but he gave it a shot anyway. The arsonist got bolder and more dangerous with every fire, putting more and more pressure on Beau. Lies, betrayal and trust all come into play during the fire investigation, which leads to trouble between Beau and Tru. The twist at the end was shocking. I loved the storyline, the characters and the reactions in this story. This is an great series and every book gets a little more fascinating.
