Getting Even

This box contains six short books, actually they should be called stories, about who Dak Harper is and a little of his history. I read the three relic runner books before I read this boxed set, but still it didn't disappoint.

In story one Harper is the team leader of a spec ops team while in the desert, they come across some hidden treasure and his team decides to take it and bury Harper in the cave. Harper escapes and spends the next stories taking down and dealing with his ex-team members, as well as his former commander. Even though he is set on revenge he still has some heart left, won't say any more so I won't ruin it.

The end of story six there is a secret chapter that leads into the relic runner books.

This is definitely a five star box set and if you've read other books by Mr. Dempsey than you should read these, they are a little darker, due to the revenge aspect but still well written. Be warned though, once you start you will find it hard to put down.

So, enjoy and as always good reading

A new story style for Ernest

I have enjoyed all of Ernest Dempsey's stories and usually buy new books as they are released. This Set of books kind of surprised me as I finished the first book of the series, and said to myself this is different. The book was too short to be called a book and I found all six are the same! Still I enjoyed the story lines, lines which are more military than archi-Digging for old answers. The story is pretty good in my opinion, but don't expect the search for old bones to be the main story line!

Quite an introduction to Dak Harper. After wiping out some insurgents in a cave in Iraq, Dak and his team find some artifacts that the team seem to think are quite valuable - the team, except Dak, want to take the artifacts. Dak is left for dead in the cave and when his team turns against him, he is declared a traitor. He escapes, then starts hunting his team, all 5 of them, one after another across the Americas, until he eliminates all of them.

Liked the story. It was an easy read except for the poor editing, there were a lot of extra words and places where a sentence starts as one though then changes a word to make it more clear but doesn't remove the original word. Probably not a problem for most readers but I have dyslexia and read every word so when I run into things like this it is very distracting and I may need to read it 5-6 times before it is clear. (This should never happen with todays automatic electronic editing tools)

Another good book. It is hard to, say which book I have enjoyed most.

I enjoyed the description of the fights. The description of the places make you feel as if you are actually there. I don't find the details of the fights too gruesome. The action is fast pace and exciting.Thank you for some great entertainment.

A Keeper

This is a great story and a unique way to introduce Dak Harper. Each story leaves you wanting a few more pages. Maybe we can learn more one day. The stage is set for following Dak on a treasure hunt, as he keeps an eye on his six. I highly recommend Ernest Dempsey. He takes his research seriously.

Good Collection of 6 Books

The Relic Runner Box Set : Books 1-6. This set is a collection that forms one story. Each book has a satisfying conclusion. The old pulp format. Nothing new but good writing in each.

And they thought he was dead? No, it was just fervent wishing so. But it was not to be, and deep in their psyches, they knew it. It was just a matter of when. He drifts in like harbor fog, matches his skills to the situations, and ….. you have some fun reading ahead!

Excellent.

This is a well paced and interesting story broken up into easily read parts. There was one scene in the last part that was so good...really a classic, funny scene. Dak is a great character and I look forward to continuing his story.

An opportunity missed

I would have preferred these short stories to just have been released as a single book which was how I read it.
