She loved his light, but she couldn’t survive without his darkness.
I was taken. Trained and turned into a plaything by the Sinaloa Cartel. They broke me and built me into something different. Something twisted in the worst way. I found pleasure only in my pain. Then Angel took me from my cage. Stole me away and claimed me as his. They’re looking for us, but Angel will protect me. He says that he’s a monster. Like them. But how can a monster make me feel safe? Make me moan. Make me beg for more. He may have a dark heart, but his dark touch is what I crave. I don’t want a white knight. I don’t need the hero. I need the one in black. I need the villain.
Sweet Escape is a full-length dark erotic romance novel with no cheating and an HEA. This book contains dark themes and graphic violence, and it is intended for readers 18+.
Lexie Syrah is an erotica and erotic romance author who writes deliciously steamy stories filled with submissive women reveling in the freedom of submission and their powerful alpha male dominants.
She found her black knight in shining armor in her dominant and possessive husband in Austin, TX. Taking strolls through the greenbelt with her fur babies or driving across the country to see the world’s largest ball of twine, she is always looking for a new adventure.
Having read the blurb,i asked Lexie if she’d consider giving me a chance to read the full story. (Because it’s on Amazon, and i’m not....) Having never read anything written by her,i wasn’t exactly sure what to expect, but this wasn’t it. It’s dark,it’s painful, and it deals with a very dubious theme:human trafficking and slavery. Having warned you of this,i can now tell you how i felt....
Maia was taken at the tender age of 11,after witnessing her mother being murdered. She is tortured by her owner and his clients, until the only way she can achieve a climax,is by enduring a lot of pain. Until,at age 19,she is saved by Angel. A man she at first sees as naive, but soon learns he is anything but. He intends to bring her to safety and help her build a new life. They get close on the journey, and once he learns of her “problem”,he agrees to f**k her in a way that she’s accustomed to. For the first time,Maia feels like she gets to choose, and she likes it. Learning new things, slowly building herself up again,is difficult, but she’s up for the challenge. And choosing who to be with,is liberating.....
This was a tough story to read. I understand why Maia acted the way she did, because that’s the girl she’d become. I liked how Angel treated her, with respect in daily life, and giving her what she needed in the bedroom. The end? That was unexpected, and i’m not sure how i feel about that particular twist....
Thank you to the author for this ARC but I am sorry to say the first chapter and “conditioning” of heroine’s body was not my type of book. I will not rate as I couldn’t finish.
I've never read this author before but I loved the storyline. The characters were believable and I kept wondering about who are "Hero" really was. Very much worth the time to read!
After Maia witnessed her mothers murder she was taken captive and used and abused by her owner and his clientele. Through this tortured ordeal Maia becomes use to the pain and find she can only climax when she experiences it. When Angel becomes her saviour she never expects to be able to feel the freedom and safety he provides and the fact he agrees to take her in ways that lead to them both being satisfied. This story contains dark themes from the offset and mentions through out, with a huge plot twist at the end you dont see coming. Hold on to the pages as your in for an emotional roller coaster ride. Well written with good engaging characters

Maia is taken by the people who killed her mother to be used as a plaything. Now she can only find pleasure with pain. Angel rescues her but can he keep her safe? Fast-paced read with lots of emotion, drama and steam. Great characters with lots of depth and a story that really draws you in. I was hooked from beginning to end. I loved it.
This was a very dark read. Please do not read if triggered by violence against women. I enjoy a really dark read and was not disappointed with this read. I felt for Maia as she found herself free worrying about things we take for granted as normal. I did not see the end coming. Great job.

Maia is taken and out into sec slavery at the age of 11. After her mother is killed. She is raped and beaten every day for 8 years. Then what she looks at as a hero drugs her and takes her from the facility. She doesn’t believe he can keep them safe and runs away from Angel. She is caught and returned to her old life but Angel somehow gets back there and gets her back again I won’t go into more of the story just let me say you won’t believe how it ends. Not sure how o feel About it but it’s not a cookie cutter book on the subject so I applauded the author for that
Maia and Angel’s story has some dark themes and so those readers with triggers please be aware of this. Those who can and choose to read this book though are in for a treat. There is a lot of emotion and steam in this book and I found the book to be as intriguing as I found the blurb.

This was an intriguing read. Good characters. And a new author for me. I received a free arc of the book. And am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion.
This was a dark read with triggers. I thought the author wrote a compelling story which was entertaining even as it had darkness that felt very real and made some scenes difficult to read. Great story
To be honest I'm not sure how to rate this book...it started off really well. It was very dark but that didn't bother me at all. But as soon as Angel came into the story it went down hill. Maia's character was very stiff and the story didn't flow as easily as it should, I didn't even like Angel that much and i admit I started to skim pages because it wasn't holding my attention, then the last few chapters got interesting again. It left me with mixed emotions. What i didn't like was the final epilogue....some how I felt cheated of Maia getting her HEA! This story has descriptions of severe abuse and just when you think you know everything there is a final twist you don't see coming and in fairness to the author, overall my feeling was it was a good story and that's why I finally decided on 3 stars!
