He's exactly what she wants, and everything she can't have.

Lana

She's dated her fair share of New York City firemen, but after being burned one too many times, she swore she'd never date another one.

Enter Jesse Hogan—she certainly had a type, and he was it—tempting her to bend her rules for one night. He was just a volunteer fireman, that had to be a loophole, right?

Wrong.

He wasn't only a volunteer, he was a lieutenant in the FDNY. A fireman twice over. So she told herself to forget about that feeling in her chest (and that mind-blowing orgasm) and move on before he bulldozed her heart. Easy, right?

Wrong.

Jesse

One nighters were his specialty. After meeting Lana though, he was left wanting more. She was an enigma for whom he was committed to changing his ways.

Except she refused to date him. But he was determined to wear her down. His "let's be friends" routine seemed to be working. Great, right?

Wrong.

He discovered something that threatened to not only destroy his chances with the only woman to ever make him want to settle down, but also send his career up in smoke. He could keep that secret from getting out though, right?

Wrong.

Devour the second installment in the Burning for the Bravest Series and find out if this couple's chemistry will prove to be too combustible for their own good.

This book is amazing.

4,5 stars

Lana and Jesse made for an incredible match. Their story was captivating and it kept me rooting for them the whole time.
Even during those times when Lana was driving me crazy. Actually, not "even", but especially during those times.

There were times when I questioned Lana's decisions, yet I couldn't help but understand where she was coming from, her urge to please her father, her need to protect herself. She needed her time to explore her options, she needed that time to try out new scenarios and give herself a true chance to figure out what she wanted and what was right for her.

And while she went on her explorational adventure, Jesse made good use of that time to grow up. The way he respected her wishes and gave her space was wholesome and it was also wonderful for his maturity.
It was an inward journey both of them needed.

I also can't not talk about Lana's work. I loved how she ventured into a male-dominated business. She was so driven and passionate about her work, she was so confident despite the obstacles, it was empowering.
Another thing that totally called to me was how more complex Jesse was than what I pictured him initially. He was fun and witty, but more than that he was responsible, reliable, completely invested in his job and so patient with those around him. This surprising dichotomy truly gave him several points.

They had many struggles to overcome and some growing up to do, and that they did beautifully.

Here's a preview of Jesse & Lana's love story:
Lana
I went into my office in my brewery and grabbed a can from the mini-fridge under my desk. I returned to the taproom and put two glasses on the bar.

“This is the beer I brewed for our one-year anniversary party four months ago. I only have two cans left, but it’s my favorite beer I’ve ever brewed.” I popped it open and started pouring it between the two cups.

“And you want to share it with me? I’m honored.” Jesse grinned and I answered him with a smile of my own.

“It’s a New England Style IPA, which is like the step-son to an East Coast Style IPA.” I passed him a glass. “I went to college in New Hampshire, where I got a job at a brewery and worked my way up—first as a waitress, then a bartender, then they let me help brew. That’s where I really learned about beer. Not many people know this, but New Hampshire is arguably the IPA capital of the East Coast. In my opinion, some of the best IPAs in the country come out of that state. I thought it was only fitting that I brew that style for the anniversary since that’s what really got me to where I am today.”

His smirk told me that he was impressed. “I didn’t know that. My brothers and I went to summer camp in New Hampshire, but I was way more into chocolate milk back then than I was beer.”

I laughed. “You’re missing out.”

“Maybe we can go sometime, and you can show me what I’ve been missing.” He stared into my eyes and I couldn’t help but feel as if he were talking about more than just beer.

I lifted my glass, needing to break the moment for my heart’s sake. “Cheers.”

We clinked glasses, but before I could take a sip, Jesse said, “To you. For having the courage to follow your dream and the confidence to make it a success.”

I smiled, but looked down. Confident and courageous were not words I’d choose to describe myself. It was sweet Jesse thought that, but in reality, he hardly knew me.

He took his first sip, and his eyes lit up. “That’s unreal good.”

“I’m glad you like it.” A satisfied smile grew on my lips.

He took another sip. “No joke, this might be the best beer I’ve ever had.”

My cheeks blushed. “You’re just saying that.”

“Honest, I’m not. It’s hoppy, but smooth and juicy all at the same time. Every sip I take brings out more flavor.”

I had the biggest smile on my face. “Actually, that’s exactly what I was going for. I wanted it to develop on the palette. Take another sip and hold it in your mouth to let it warm up a little while you take a breath in and see what happens.”

He did what I said.

“Well?” I leaned on the bar, getting closer to him to hear what he thought.

“That’s so interesting. It went from smooth to,” he paused, thinking, “more dry.”

I beamed at his observation. “I dry hopped it with citra and mosaic hops for eight days, which really helped develop that complexity.”

He gave me a huge grin that showed off his dimple. “I love it when you talk dirty.”

I laughed and reached across to playfully slap him on the arm before taking a sip of my beer. I closed my eyes, savoring the smooth, creamy mouthfeel of the hazy brew. When I opened them, Jesse was staring at me—again.

“Now what?”

“Seeing how much you enjoy that reminds me of something.”

Not understanding, I cocked my head and asked, “What’s that?”

“I can’t say.” His smile was mischievous.

“Oh, now that’s not fair.”

“You really want to know?” He raised his eyebrows devilishly as he took another sip of his beer.

“I really want to know.” I leaned closer, pushing my boobs together in an effort to slyly seduce it out of him. As predicted, his eyes went directly to my chest, and I saw desire build in his eyes.

“It reminds me of how much you enjoyed our first night together. When my face was buried between your legs,” he said unabashedly.

My whole head got hot, and the flush spread down my neck and chest.

Be brave, Lana.

Staying leaned over as I was, I brought the glass to my lips again, slowly. His gaze followed. I took another sip, and when I pulled the glass away, I subtly traced my lip with my tongue and let out a tiny moan.

Jesse’s mouth fell open, and the air around us was suddenly just as charged as it had been that first night.

“Fuck,” he breathed.

I forced myself to back up, and I brought my glass to my chest, allowing it to cool the heat that had started as embarrassment, but quickly grew into lust. Jesse stared as the condensation dripped between my breasts, trailing a line down my cleavage.

“Lana,” he growled. My name was a warning on his lips.

I knew I was playing with fire. I just hoped that, this time, I wouldn’t get burned.

Unlike anything

Absolutely loved the story of Lana & Jesse's romance. Such a different background that held the readers interest whilst their attraction became more & more evident. The interview at end was a great touch, answered a few questions that were kind of expected yet left up in the air, dont miss it. Bring on Ryan's tale now..cannot wait.

This is book two in the Burning for the Bravest series. It’s Jesse and Lana’s story. Kaye Kennedy has a gift for writing. This book drew me in from the very first page and didn’t let me go until the very end. Sometimes a book has pages and sometimes chapters that drag on, this is not one of those books! I was engaged the who time and honestly had a hard time putting it down to do the sensible thing and go to bed at a reasonable time so I could get up early the next morning. This book has it all. You get plenty of feels and it’s hot and sexy. Jesse is the perfect book boyfriend. He’s hot, sweet, reliable, and goes after what he wants. This book reads as a standalone, but I highly recommend grabbing the first book which is Jesse’s older brothers’ story. You won’t regret the purchase. I so can’t wait for the next book.

Jesse is a firefighter working his dream job in the FDNY. He’s recently made Lieutenant and trying to get his choice station assignment without the help from one of his brothers. He’s the middle child so his brothers have already done what he’s trying to do. You can’t help but feel like you’re always in someone’s shadow. He meets Lana after she’s sworn off firefighters and made a promise to her dad to pick a guy with a normal profession. Jesse starts falling for her and knows the attraction between them is strong but realizes Lana needs to do things her way for her to realize that what she needs is him and he’s not like her loser ex boyfriends. They have a good number of obstacles to overcome to be a couple. Can they succeed or is this going to be another doomed relationship with a firefighter for Lana?

Jesse Hogan... I am totally in love with this fictional character! I was intrigued by him in Dylan's book and I was glad to see his book next; it did not disappoint! I loved watching him fall in love with Lana and how, even though she shut him down, he patiently waited on the sidelines while she figured out what/who she wanted and looked out for her.

For the most part, I liked Lana. I didn't like how she just assumed the worst of Jessie towards the end but I loved that her dad conspired with Jessie so that Jesse could plead his case.

As I said in the review for Dylan's book, I love the glimpses of the Hogan family and looking forward to reading more about them in this series! I was also pleasantly surprised, after being intrigued by Declan in this book, to find out that he is getting a story in this series (I believe it comes out in April.) Hopefully I will be caught up by then!

Another fantastic book in the series. I love this fireman romance series. The characters are real and flawed which makes it easy to relate to them. The stories are full of heart, humor, sadness and steam.

Lana Murphy owns Hop Toddy brewery and has sworn off dating firemen after a bad breakup. Jesse Hogan is a player and a new lieutenant fireman. They shoot off sparks when they meet but she backs off having anything to do with him because of his job. He is obsessed with her and gets a job as a bouncer at her bar. Lana eventually gives in and they get together. They have to overcome issues with her family, his reputation, lies and her fears but they get a HEA.

Okay I really enjoyed this book. I literally could not put it down and stayed up till 3 am reading it before having to force myself to put it down so I could sleep. This is a little different than Dylan’s book because there is not a lot of firefighting scenes in it. There’s really only one plus a medic scene, but other than that, nothing. Kinda sad but I also still really enjoyed it.

Jesse is the third brother of the Hogan boys and he is just so fine. Recently promoted to lieutenant, he’s hoping to get on with his dream engine station, 244. And the chief battalion just so happens to be the girl he’s fighting to have’s father, except he doesn’t know that.

Jesse first saw Lana at a volunteer party and was intrigued from the get go and so was she. They even left together and did some other things ;) except they didn’t do the one thing you’re probably thinking of. No, Lana found out Jesse was a firefighter and dipped outta there, leaving Jesse sad and confused, and a lot of hanging on the edge (if you get what I mean).

Lana has a past with firefighter, all of her exes have been firefighters and they’ve all hurt her, so she’s made a promise with her dad to not date anymore firefighters. Except Jesse is just so darn perfect. And she’s literally drawn to him because of their undeniable chemistry. But she’s really fighting, so much so that she starts dating a Doctor. A really nice and rich doctor, all while thinking of Jesse and comparing her new boyfriend to Jesse.

Of course Jesse is heartbroken but he understands that she needs to do this and hopes she comes back to him. (Spoiler, she does).

Their chemistry is so fun and you can literally feel it through the pages. Jesse is so kind and caring, he’s also protective, romantic, understanding, handsome, I could go on. Lana is definitely one badA female. She knows exactly what she wants and she’s not afraid to stick it to Jesse if she needs to. She doesn’t let anyone dictate things to her. She’s pretty levelheaded but sometimes doesn’t listen and jumps to conclusions. She’s the owner of her own brewery, which is really cool.

Ryan’s book is next and I’m excited for his. Based on the little sneak preview, it’s gonna be real good!

From the beginning, you can feel the electricity coursing in the connection between Jesse and Lana. There is this thick sexual tension that vibrates off the pages.

I was sucked into this book from page 1. Jesse, introduced in Burning for More (his brother Dylan's story), is trying to get out from his brothers' shadows and prove he can excel without the help of his brothers' titles. A former player, he can't explain instantly being drawn to Lana. Lana comes from a firefighting family and has always dated firemen - and she's been burned (pun intended!) too many times. She has a history and after her last heartbreak, promised her dad she was done with firemen. Enter Jesse. These 2 are drawn to each other. You can feel her emotion and conflict as she struggles with her feelings. There was a portion of the book where I get frustrated with Lana and the way she was treating Jesse, but I also understood her past played a part in her behavior. When Jesse and Lana finally get together, it is HOT!

"I knew I was playing with fire. I just hoped I didn't get burned this time."

The special gift Jesse gives Lana towards the end of the book - SWOON!

Author Kaye Kennedy delivers another wonderful story. After reading Burning for More, I was looking forward to this book and it didn't disappoint. I LOVE the Hogan family and their unique personalities - it was interesting to get a little more insight into each of the brothers. Looking forward to Ryan's story after that intriguing epilogue!

I will leave with one of my favorite quotes from the book:

"They remind us to find balance between our inner and outer worlds, and not to fight the current, but to move with it. They also represent personal strength and encourage us to use it with conviction."

Great book!

This is the 2nd book in the Burning Series. This is Jesse and Lana's love story. You will also get to catch up with the characters from book #1 and see what's going on in their lives as well.

Jesse Hogan just passed the Lieutenant exam for the FDNY. Being the third kid in a family of four boys, he always felt that he was never able to accomplish something that his two older brothers haven't already done before. He wanted to prove himself. So when he gets noticed by a Battalion Chief and is recruited into one of the busiest fire houses in NY, Jesse feels like he did something huge without his brother calling in a favor.

Lana Murphy comes from a a family of firefighters; three generations of them. She owns a brewery, she makes her own beer in her own bar. She's very successful. After a slew of disastrous relationships, all of them were firemen, her father a Battalion Chief, makes her promise him that she won't ever date a fireman again. This time it will be a doctor or a lawyer. When she goes out with her best friend, Bailee for a fundraising event by the FDNY she meets Jesse and the chemistry between them is off the charts. She goes home with him, but the minute she sees his FDNY uniform at his apartment, she makes up an excuse and leaves him.

Jesse is a notorious playboy. He's never been in a relationship before. But after kissing Lana he doesn't want to be around another woman ever again. He can't get Lana off his mind. He convinces her that they can be friends, and he watches her date another man from afar until she comes to her senses.

But when Jesse finds out that his new boss is his girlfriend's father, he doesn't know what to do. Lose his career or the love of his life?

A must read!!

Burning for This is the second book in Kaye Kennedy’s Burning for the Bravest and from the very beginning the sizzling attraction and sexual tension is off the charts!

Lana has been burned once too often when dating firefighters, so men from this particular career choice are now off her radar. Jesse comes from a long line of firefighters and now as a lieutenant, he’s decided it’s time to leave his bad boy ways behind. But when Lana crosses his path an sparks fly, Jesse is faced with a problem he’s never confronted; he has to work to convince this woman that they belong together.

Burning for This is a wonderful story of a woman longing for forever but unable to trust her choice in men, while Jesse has cultivated a love em` and leave em` persona for so long, he’s unprepared for the fight ahead to win Lana’s heart. An easy to follow storyline, well-developed characters and an emotional to and fro that keeps the reader thoroughly engrossed till the last page is turned; this story is an engaging romance that has a bit of everything! I can’t wait for the next exciting instalment in this captivating series.

Jesse and Lana

Seriously considered rating this book 2*

Don’t remember the last time I couldn’t stand the main characters more! Especially Lana. Zero redeeming qualities about her! She meets Jesse at a party, goes home with him and fools around — then finds out he’s a firefighter (they’re the ones that threw the party!) and she walks out on him. But Jesse feels a connection with Lana he’s never felt before — give me a break! He knows nothing about her but “she’s special.”

And when he goes to the brewery she runs she tells him she had a bad experience with a firefighter and wants to date someone who is not one. And he tells her to go ahead and he will wait for her! WHAT???

It is a rare occasion when I stop reading a book in the middle of— so I plowed through and was actually rooting against them! His brothers like her, so does his mom and future sister-in-law — WHY?? Lana is a hot mess and the kind of girl I would hate to see with a nice guy.

And in the end she is ready to dump him because he lied to her — when she has been lying to him, her dad and brother the whole time.

The next book sounds like a similar premise as this boy gets turned down by girl so he must pursue her. *eyeroll

Lana is side kick for her best friend at a bar, but her friend just went off with her boyfriend and left Lana alone at the table. Jesse stops by to talk and they hit it off. Things skyrocket at his place until one thing happens - she finds out he is an FDNY fireman, which is off limits for her, and she leaves. He keeps running into her and even starts to work for her as a bouncer at her brewery. The characters are complex and well rounded out with backstories. The locales are great and vivid. Suspense is over the top with miscommunication, lies, unknown identities (her father is Battalion Chief to Jesse), and much more. They each confide in a friend or two who gives them good advice to give each other some space to find their true feelings. The family bonding and extended family friendships are solid and true. The banter, even the sexy ones, gives the book a light hearted feel that just makes you smile or even laugh. The biggest smile comes at the end of the polar dip.... oh, Ryan. These Hogan boys sure do have it bad for their women! Can not wait for the next book.

This is book #2 in Burning for the Bravest, Jesse and Lana's story.
Jesse Hogan is one of 4 brothers, all firefighters. He loves his job as a firefighter and wants to move up the ranks and be a Lt but he wants to do it on his own with no help from his brother who's already a Lt. He's also a player, that is, until he meets Lana.
Lana, who owns a brewery, comes from a firefighting family and has always dated firemen. That is until she was burned by her last boyfriend and promises her Dad and brother she wouldn't date another one.
Jesse and Lana meet and their chemistry is off the charts. She goes home with him only to find out he's a firefighter and leaves. What follows is her emotional conflict and struggles with his job and he not wanting to give up on her. Lana is also struggling with her Dad and his drinking and the problems this causes her.
These are real life struggles and you are caught up in it and hope they can find a way to make it all work out.
Ms. Kennedy's writing sucks you in from the beginning and it's realistic! Can't wait for #3

Lana has had bad experiences with firemen as boyfriends so after her last one her dad made her promise to find a doctor or lawyer to date. She goes to a party with a friend and ends up at a firehouse. Its not surprising that the one guy she is attracted to is a fireman. Jesse is drawn to Lana from the start but once she calls it quits he pulls back and tries to be friends while she dates other guys. It kills him but no other woman will do for him. Soon Lana sees that Jesse is it for her and goes to him. Jesse gets the dream job he has been wanting but suddenly he is worried about it because on the desk of his new boss is a picture of his girlfriend. This means her dad is his new boss. Will his new job cause problems between them? Can they have the relationship they want?

This is a great story once I started it I couln't put it down. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

Jesse wants to progress his career on his own, not with the help of his Fathers legacy or his brothers influence just on his own merits and boy do I love this guy for that and how he has not all arrogant and alpha, but manly and thoughtful. Poor Lana though she has the worst luck with guys, she successful and smart and I am kinda envious of her job but choosing guys noooooo.... so yeah firemen are a no go zone HOWEVER how she could walk away after her and Jesse's initial meeting is beyond me, I would have worried about it the next day!!!! (fans face)
This is a fantastic read where you are drawn in right from the get go to see how things will pan out as Lana and Jesse are the perfect match but due to secrets, misunderstandings, undeniable attraction and family won't make it easy. It's also great to see everyone again after reading the first book and spoiler alert Kyle is still a douche 🙄😂

Drawn to the flame:
This book was beautifully written, with an emotional depth that was just perfect.
Lana had sworn off dating firemen and unluckily for her, she discovered that was exactly what Jesse did for a living. She tried desperately to resist him but found herself fighting a loosing battle. You could really feel the chemistry and connection between these two and I was so pleased when they finally got together. I liked how protective and persistent Jesse was and also how they learned to be honest with each other.
Overall a great read and whilst it could be read as a standalone, the first book is awesome and I'd highly recommend reading it too. I am now really intrigued and can't wait for younger brother Kyle's story!

If you love a hot firefighter romance this will not disappoint!
Jesse is used to firefighters, three generations of firefighters in her family. After her last breakup, who happened to be a firefighter left some deep scars and promised her father to never date another one. Then Jesse walks into her life. He was everything she was looking for but couldn’t see it and didn’t want to disappoint her father. Jesse saw Lana and had to get to know her. There was something about her that just grabbed hold of him and wouldn’t let go. Would he be able to win her over? Would she want and be able to “renegotiate” her promise to her father? You’ll want to find out what happens. It will make you swoon, cry, yell and celebrate. Can not wait for the next in this series.

Steamy is right

All it took was one look and the spark was ignited. Lana and Jesse head to Jesse's. But when Lana left Jesse that first night it wasn't a happy ending for him.

The spark had already been lit, so when Jesse can't stop thinking about her, the perfect opportunity comes up so he can spend more time with her. Work security for her bar.

Jesse proves to Lana that she can trust him with her heart.

This love story builds slowly and the journey along the way makes you sad at times for Jesse but rooting for him that Lana will give him a chance. In the end their chemistry won over and they overcame some obstacles along the way.

I loved them together and enjoyed this story immensely.

WOW!
If you've not read this book, please do yourself a HUGE favour and GO read it NOW!!!
The steamy chemistry that's in here is just uncomparable and so worth reading and you will instantly fall in love with the characters!
In this book, its about Lana and Jesse and they're love is just completely undeniable just like Autumn and Dylans but in this book, its all about fighting your inner demons and fighting for what worth living for - love.
There's some great character development and is justs proves in showing that love is worth fighting and loving for and even though you think you've hit rock bottom you will be able to accomplish whatever life throws at you together.

Great book

This is the second book of the series and the second book by this author I've read. The really enjoy the author's writing style. It's a nice easy pace and I had a difficult time putting this book down. The characters in book feel like people you would have known and been friends with for years. Having worked as a visiting nurse in the Bronx, it was enjoyable to have familiar NY locales mentioned, bringing back memories when we lived in NY, especially places like Hunter Mountain.
There were a couple errors in wording and syntax, mostly in the last third of the book, but not enough to detract from the story.
In all, I would recommend this book.

This is the 1st book I've read written by Kaye Kennedy; she has done a great job at writing a good book; I can’t wait to read more of her books.

The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.

I loved the characters.

This is my first book by this author but I will be going back to read the first book in this series. I liked Lana and am glad she came around to dating Jesse even though he was a firefighter. I liked how hard Jesse worked to be out of his brothers shadow.

Love this story! Jesse and Lana are perfect for each other but it isn't obvious to both of them. To me this is a romance in its truest form ~ because their relationship, the way they communicate and treat each other (actions & words), the things they say to each other ALL add up to pure romance and nothing less. Cannot wait to read book 3!
