Georgia born and bred, I am an artist, a writer, and a general pain in the ass. I spend most of my days working on my next book or bettering my art. Writing is my identity and I love every minute of it. It's work, lots of work (sometimes I work 12+ hours a day and I never get a vacation) but I don't regret doing it. I currently share my house with a myriad of dogs, a few cats, a saltwater aquarium filled with coral and fish, as well as my partner who's great at giving hugs when the day's been rough. And of course, my editor and PA, who helps me keep life reasonably organized. At least so I won't walk out the door without wearing pants.
Extraordinary ! I am at a loss to know what to say. It was nothing like I expected and more than I could have imagined. A trained killer who feels nothing, no emotions, no pain, no conscience; a boy who should have been loved unconditionally but was thrown out instead and found himself in the very worst of places; a young man who's only family was murdered, but a clue was left at his home.... they all converge in what becomes a war of revenge and bloodshed, and also a time where boundaries are explored, torn down and re-built. Enter a young boy from next door, a scarred, grizzled old man who is not who he seems and various other characters and this is a book that rocks your world. Is Marius really as black as he seems, or is he a guiding angel that only a very few ever get a glimpse of? I find i am left with questions and can only guess at the answers. I find myself wanting more .... This author is to be respected for her writing, her imagination, her ability to draw you in and keep you on the edge and her unquenchable thirst for bringing you the unexpected..... a story of love, redemption, loyalty and growing (and heat....)
5 people with very different life stories, yet all intertwined to make a bit of a mind bender of a thriller. Not a difficult read, but a lot happens within. I do wonder if there will be another book.
I read this a few weeks ago and I'm still thinking about it. Adrienne Wilder has such a talent when creating her characters. They all have a story to tell, they're all intriguing and they all mesh together seamlessly. This had a little bit of everything, romance, revenge, oh and a secret organization of wealth and murder. The whole premise was interesting to read about and I'd gladly dive back into this universe if she wrote more books.
