The end of the world war didn't stop the apocalypse; it made it possible for terrifying cosmic psychological horror to rise. To save the world, Klein Moretti doesn't have to battle against gods, but against the destructive force of total isolation.
Introduction
To my dismay, less chapters means a change in the pacing. The story has always been medium or even slow-paced. A fast pace isn't something that suits this book series well. While I admire the new elements introduced in this volume, I can't deny that the change in the pacing made it less enjoyable than previously.
Plot
End of the mortal world war—start of the divine world war
The war between the Feysac Empire and the Loen Kingdom has come to a halt, but at what cost? Humanity didn't recover yet, but they're supposed to prepare for the next world war immediately. There's no time to grief for the dead, no time to reunite with family and friends. The prophecy of the apocalypse is nearing. Everyone that hasn't become a Beyonder yet will perish. It forces humans to decide: cling to humanity and die or abandon humanity and survive. With the next world war approaching Klein Moretti has to decide as well. His choices are to either fight to protect humanity by sacrificing his own humanity or not fight to protect humanity by falling to corruption. His fate is already sealed—making him unable to choose on his own.
The rise of cosmic psychological horror
Since the plot twist of the previous volume the cosmic dread has increased. This volume reveals the true meaning behind the title of this book series, which is related to the cosmic psychological horror. I somewhat knew what it was supposed to mean, but I hoped that it wouldn't be true. When I started the book series I thought the title refers to the protagonist, who is uncovering the mysteries of the world he transmigrated to and is therefore the ‘Lord of the Mysteries’, but that's not entirely true. After finding out the truth behind the transmigration I started to realise that the title was supposed to mean something else. Something I didn't wish to come true. I didn't want anyone to become the Lord of the Mysteries anymore. The title of the book series used to sound stellar, but now it just sounds depressing.
Characters
Merlin Hermes
I have complaints regarding this character. He is supposed to be a wandering magician who finds pleasure in fulfilling people's wishes. Only that the reader barely gets to know him. A backlash caused by the change of the pacing. There wasn't nearly enough time to establish a personality that didn't feel flat. Per se, Merlin Hermes sounds intriguing but he unfortunately got introduced to the series when the pacing changed. Other characters were able to benefit from the slow pace, but Merlin Hermes wasn't able to shine in a story that tried to finish too fast.
Audrey Hall
If I would transmigrate into this world I would choose the same Beyonder pathway as her. Or a similar one. Her Beyonder pathway helped her a lot in her growth and to reach womanhood slowly but steady. She's a spy in the best possible way. Audrey Hall isn't just willing to take risks but she is also willing to help others in need. Her aristocratic title doesn't make her haughty or arrogant. So, seeing how she has to battle against her inner pride now—a deadly sin—is astonishing. She might not be physically strong but her mental strength is superior to most Beyonders who went mad and lost control. The Psychological Alchemists are more intriguing than I initially thought. It's pretty similar to the secret organisation that calls itself the Tarot Club.

The ending was this time abrupt and not satisfying. I don't understand why the author decided to change the pacing of this book series so close before it ends. Often I wished for more details or to simply linger in the moment than moving directly to the next one. I'm used to the medium to slow pace and I really wish it would have stayed that way till the end.
I don't want Klein Moretti to sacrifice himself for the greater good. I want him to be selfish. He was always isolated since he transmigrated to this world. Now that he advanced as an angel he is even more closed off from others. I remember that one time where he, Leonard Mitchell and Audrey Hall teamed up as a trio for an expedition. He can't even do that anymore. The loneliness that he tries to hide deep within him is something I already noticed in earlier volumes, but now that it becomes more visible it starts to be even more depressing.

Another amazing volume! I’m so happy for the people of City of Silver and Moon City—our Little Sun finally got his time to shine! I also loved how they’re now trying to proselytize others. “Excuse me sir, do you have a moment to talk about our lord and savior, Mr. Fool?” I was dying of laughter when that chapter ended!
On top of that, we get to see Klein’s new persona, Merlin Hermes. I love how his growth is finally paying off, and it’s thrilling to see all the pieces starting to move into place. The volume also does a fantastic job of tying together earlier plot threads. I’m so excited to see how everything comes together in the final volume!

might be my least favorite volume of this series so far, but it was still great. maybe because it's much shorter than the other volumes so i feel like it was kind of rushed and was not detailed enough. even klein's newest identity as merlin hermes wasn't established enough for the readers. but the feeling that this book 1 of the series is about to end is very palpable while reading this volume 7. one more volume left!!!
my favorite scene in this volume though might be klein and roselle's first meeting. i actually got emotional, which i absolutely didn't expect. i'm looking forward to roselle getting out of his slumber with the help of klein, but maybe not so soon.
still, i'm excited to see how this series will conclude. klein is now finally a sequence 1 angel but because of his sefirah castle, his power can now compete with kings of angels like amon and adam. so i think he has a chance, even if it's slim, to win against them? let's see let's see!

Best and worst thing I can say about it is it's the quintessential diamond in the rough. So much brilliant ideas conversely so much flaws too but there's a charm to the flaws too considering the author's openness and quirks. So can't hate really. 3.5

I really enjoyed most of this volume. A lot of things got revealed and a lot of things happened. The ending, however, felt a bit rushed in some parts, or just kind of incomplete, like I get it's the cliffhanger for the next and final one, but idk... not my favorite one..

I loved the humanity Klein had, he helped the people of the forsaken land of the gods to escape. It tells us after becoming sequence 2 Miracle Invoker (An Angel) he still had humanity. And again Klein was trapped by Amon and his brother Adam but he always had an escape plan for every predicament. Then he also advances to sequence 1 Attendant of Mysteries.

It feels so nice to finally have a fully good vol, I have suffered a lot reading this series, so this was a breath of fresh air .
🕯️ loved when Danitz showed up with a ship to help city of silver , i didn’t expect it would be him, I always thought it would be Alger “hanged man”.
Also when he almost said “your savior is here” reminded me of LOKI, this was such a funny moment to start the book with.
🕯️I always looked forwarded to Derrick meeting Alger, i didn’t get the meeting straightforward BUT as expected Derrick was very wholesome when he saw Alger from a distance and then was basically like “I have to be chill but this is very exciting”
🕯️many moments gave me goosebumps.
-Of course I always freak out and have a “oh shit” moment, when someone pulls out a monocle 🧐.
- At Audry’s meeting when that dude said, “if you need my help just say my honorific name” I was ready for the usual two sentence titles and then BOOM he said “Adam” , the hell you mean Adam!!!!!
🕯️As my dear husband says, it’s very funny when Alger always scares himself by thinking the fool hates him or doesn’t favor him, funny anxiety. Speaking of Alger, him and Audrey, I’m so proud of them, the OGs.
🕯️listen I tried to understand most of what’s happening at the end of the different situations happening simultaneously, but let me tell you, when someone told mr door “do you want to bring destruction on the world? Let me help you” , I thought it was mr fool , but NO it was the monocle 🧐guy , sigh Amon gives me the heebi jeebies, I do love him though.
He was VERY funny when he bowed in every direction when he completed his ritual.

One thing that bothered me was that the digestion process seemed to be cut off and Merlin's character was shown for far too short a time, but still liked it though
Also the 1335 chap iykyk, no but for real the depth this chap gave was something unreal
And can my lovely fellow Amon finally give up on Klein and do something else?
Last but not least, the chapter with Rosselle and Bernadette was something beautiful and touching and Klein could finally talk to him so I hope that they will still be able to talk 3

I forgot most of the witty things I had to say but I'm happy I got to read about all the interactions I've been waiting for since volume 1 (for example the Roselle meeting)
More mysteries got revealed, which at this point kind of just make you more depressed.

Intense. I can feel my brain overheating going through the contents of this volume. There's so much information, and theories and questions getting painted more clearly relatively from the previous volumes. It's information overload to me and I can feel them brimming on my throat.
Merlin felt like a fever dream, silly little character. The first parts were so chill then it went melancholic but warm because of the /miracles/ Klein's was projecting especially to the people of City of Silver and Moon City. We finally meet fellow Earthling Emperor Roselle. Of course, goofy parts will never be absent such as the holy bible, Amon sounding the bell, etc.
Anyway, there was only nearly 90 chapters within this volume so it wasn't as—how do I say it—carefully laid down but rather, it was like a bombardment of events and informations. I still had fun!

This volume went by very quickly. The revelations are astounding and yet fit with all the backstory we've gained over the past 6 volumes. I just have to say, this is amazing. To build up a backstory with laced with intrigue and filled with plot twists and yet have such a complicated backstory be cohesive and make sense. Wow! Really well done. And despite answering some very important questions, there's still a clear desire to know more and find out how the problems that have been set up earlier are resolved. Storytelling done well in my opinion.

Disclaimer: I have read the whole book 1(i.e. till volume 8) and writing this review tho this contains no spoilers for later volumes.
What a phenomenal penultimate volume to such a long running series.
The author really shows how the MC has grown where one line haunts me the way Klein says even if Amon and True Creator no longer wish for the City of Moon to be free they will not be able to stop me.
Seeing that many chapters are written from the perspective of the other characters is a very interesting choice because this is the last time Klein might be able to relate even remotely to normal people.
The way Merlin Hermes is handled is masterclass where the main theme of novel for me loneliness is so hammered in.
Loneliness is exuded in every chapter for the first time reading it might feel slow as it did for me after the masterclass of volume 6 but looking back after few months the quality of chapters is overall very high in this volume with the strawberry on top being "I" which might arguably be the best chapter in all of the novel.
Utopia is one of the most unique novel arcs I have read where we see how the MC's powers might be perceived by the normal people.
The ending might feel rushed but from the Author's notes about Zarataul, Amon and Adam will not wait is correct and the way it is handled it superb with having contingencies for contingencies is just what the novel is known for.
Zarataul being given such a anti climactic end is kinda boring but the setup for the ascension for the Fool is here and the story is going full throttle if you are in till now there is no stopping it now The legend of the Fool is about to reach it's climax.

There is no reason to write a post for each "volume" as I have read the whole thing as one book anyway and even the chapter separation is kind of weird, probably because of the serialized nature of the release. Well, I have good news and bad news. Good news is that I've finished this humongous novel. Bad news is that there is a sequel!! :D
The increase in level of the main protagonist goes on. Not only does he do it faster and easier - in terms of pages dedicated to the difficulty - but so do all of his friends. But there is a catch, of course. First of all the most scary antagonist by far: God of Deceit Amon. Second of all, of course there are levels above sequence 0. And I apologize if me telling you that made you instantly go insane, it's your own fault for not raising to a sufficiently high Beyonder level.
You see, not only are there gods in the world, but also gods from outside the world, encroaching in. There are some really complicated rules being applied and the final epic battle is truly epic, so I will leave it at that: I finished Lord of Mysteries and I liked it.
The second book, Circle of Inevitability, closes the story completely and also is half of the first book in terms of size. I wonder if I should be masochistic enough to start reading it as well...

You see, not only are there gods in the world, but also gods from outside the world, encroaching in. There are some really complicated rules being applied and the final epic battle is truly epic, so I will leave it at that: I finished Lord of Mysteries and I liked it.
The second book, Circle of Inevitability, closes the story completely and also is half of the first book in terms of size. I wonder if I should be masochistic enough to start reading it as well...

"Uma coisa poderia ter muitos nomes mas sua identidade não mudaria".
Não sei nem o que dizer, ainda estou muito chocada. Esse volume é o melhor até agora, sempre digo isso no final de cada volume, pois as coisas sempre evoluem e um é melhor que o outro. E cara aqui vemos o quanto tudo desde o início era só uma brincadeira de criança, os acontecimentos mudam pra um nível tão surreal e absurdo que fiquei com dó do Klein, mas o pai sempre consegue achar uma solução 🛐. É tanta reviravolta que meu cérebro fritou com o tanto de plot, o Klein aprendendo mais sobre o criador original, as divindades exteriores e o "celestial digno do céu e da terra", a verdade sobre a identidade da Mãe Terra, Verdu libertando o Sr. Porta e logo depois sendo morto pelo Amon, o Amon tocando o sino da igreja do Klein kkkkkkk, Klein criando uma cidade de marionetes, Zaratul invadindo utopia, Adam prendendo o Klein e dando humanidade pra persona Gehrman Sparrow e ele morrendo 😭, a verdadeira identidade do Adam, Klein morrendo e avançando pra sequência 1 se tornando Rei dos Anjos e matando Zaratul. Tem muito mais coisas, mas falei só os pontos principais que lembro agora, porque foi tanta coisa que não sei como não enlouqueci. É por isso que amo tanto essa novel, estou tão triste que só falta um volume pra terminar.
