I’ve gotten a little jaded with fairytale retellings, particularly of Beauty and the Beast, but this story felt fresh and new. Jackson is a great hound, never once letting up on the trail of Keagan, his fox. Keagan is a slippery character to start and I loved how she evolved in the course of the story to develop more of a moral compass. Add in the mystery of her foster mother’s death and this is an intriguing tale! Highly recommended.
This is the fourth (or maybe the sixth or seventh? it's hard to keep track of all the different iterations of this series) book in Ms. Stone's Ever After series -- modern-day retellings of classic fairy tales. While this is a stand-alone in terms of the couple, characters from previous books play significant parts and the political machinations of several inter-connected criminal families are hard to keep track of if you haven't read the others.
Jackson (the Hound) comes across high-tech grifter Keagan Foxx when she unwittingly causes his family problems. The two had been BDSM play partners several years ago and he's determined to reintroduce her to kink to get her to tell him why she targeted his cousin's business. But Keagan is keeping a very big, very personal secret of her own...
While this contains Ms. Stone's usual brand of pet play, it isn't as dark as many of her other books since Jackson doesn't rape her; never harms her; genuinely wants what's best for her; and while he never explicitly asks for her consent, I felt that he would have stopped if she wasn't into it since he never wanted an unwilling partner. For me, this is a relief, but those who like "dark" will be disappointed.
So, I would say that if you like pet play that isn't vicious between two likeable characters, you'll probably enjoy this. Although I appreciated Keagan's strength and general level-headedness and Jackson's respect for her, this contained so many plot holes and missing information that if you're reading it for the narrative (which you probably aren't), you'll be disappointed. Why, for example, if Keagan is such a computer whiz, is it so easy for Jackson to hack her computer? Exactly how much time passes between the first and second chapter? I thought it was days, but apparently it's actually years. Exactly what was Keagan and Jackson's relationship when they were in college? They both say it was casual, but they seem to have deeper feelings for each other than that. Finally, the anti-climactic, abrupt ending means that we never see ?
I do encourage Ms. Stone to hire an editor since this was very repetitious (I felt that the exact same conversations were repeated most strongly in the scenes where Jackson first questions Keagan after kidnapping her and when the four women talk to Ash).
3 1/2 stars. It passed the time and it wasn't too harsh. Just don't expect anything earth-shattering or unusual. It seems that we'll get a story featuring Jackson's prodigal brother next.
HOUND is LIVE and ready for your kindles!! Here's a little snippet to hold you over. Hound
“You need to eat, I’m giving you a chance to eat. Take it or don’t, but this is your only chance. If you want to be stubborn, you can wait until tomorrow, and we’ll try again.” He opened the crate door and went back to the bowl, nudging it with his foot. “But I’m warning you, you’ll have to stay in the crate until it’s time for another chance.”
She swallowed. It was just food. Taking it wasn’t conceding a victory to him over anything. And she would need her strength if she was going to out think him. Because ousting him physically wasn’t going to happen.
Determined to get through the ordeal with her pride fully intact, she moved forward. Crawling out of the crate, she headed straight for the bowl. Eyes downcast, she wouldn’t give him the satisfaction of seeing the blush blooming on her cheeks. Fuck him for wanting her humiliation, but worse yet, dammit why was it making her cunt so damn wet. At this rate, he’d be able to see her arousal. Once at the bowl, she tucked her ass inward and picked it up.
“No, no.” he tapped the top of her head. “Little foxes don’t eat like that, do they?” She’d make him pay for this. And it would hurt. She’d make it painful.
Just wow this was one hot little story filled with mystery alot of danger and scenes that will have you breathing hard. Jackson Titon is one sexy authoritive Alpha who takes no crap and is dead serious on protecting his little fox Keagan who seems to be in a big mess so he offers his protection takes control and sets her straight. I love the chase in the woods awwww my favorite. This was written so well it captures you from the first page it has it all, never a dull moment with these two.
What another fantastic story in this series! I absolutely loved Jackson and Keagan! Jackson is a cousin of the Titon’s and has come back to start a new life. When he discovers that Keagan is unknowingly going to be a part of it, he is thrilled. But will Keagan feel the same way? These two have incredible chemistry and I enjoyed their interactions. Keagan is a spitfire of a woman and you can’t help but love her. And as for Jackson, he is just hot, hot, hot!
This story has many twists and turns and just when I think I figured something out, this author throws me for a loop! If you haven’t read the other books in this series, you definitely should. This book will hold you entranced from beginning to end, you won’t put it down until every last word is read!
I love this series and each book gets better and better. Jackson and Keagan have some serious chemistry going on and I just sort of got sucked into the story. Ms. Stone knows just how to capture her readers attention and keep them focused. Wonderful story and I'll just say I need more stories in this series!
I am so in love with these Titon men, and Jackson Titon is a tantalizing specimen of the Alpha men of this family. Keegan is a woman surrounded by mystery and intrigue as this story begins and her story slowly unravels. When these two meet, it is electrifying and cosmic. This story had me cheering for this couple and screaming at the bad guys. And some of those scenes were extremely hot!
Once I thought no book can shock me, something like this comes out and I'm left almost disgusted. 6 books and it's always the same weak woman and big macho in charge who almost never listens to what she has to say... But this time we got some extra humiliation. Leash walking, eating from a dog's bowl, being locked in a cage, wearing a collar... Shall I say more? And yes... It's all done to a woman not a dog. Or in this case a fox...
So why 2.5 stars and not 1?
Because once you skip all these awful scenes, you actually get a little bit of an interesting plot. It gets you intrigued, almost engrossed into the story... And then? You get an awful scene again.
I don't mind a bit of punishment here and there but this was more on a werge of rape and beastility...

I enjoyed this book, and I think that there are definitely some interesting hunts that happen in here.
I like Kegan. I think that she is really smart and very talented. But, with all that, I also think that she's a little naive when it comes to the men she's dealing with. It feels like she thinks that she can just charm herself out of everything, and it doesn't work so much that way. Maybe it's not so much that she's naive, but more that she thinks that she can handle any and all situations that she finds herself in. Which doesn't work all that well either.
I think that Jackson is a good man, overall. He does skirt the law in certain times and places, but he's in a business where that happens, and he's doing business with a lot of people who aren't all that legal. I also think that he's trying to mend fences with his family, which isn't necessarily the easiest thing, but he's doing it at least.
This was a simply spectacular read, great characters and wonderful story This was a simply wonderful book and I cannot help but explain that you will be drawn into the story in total, without even noticing you will find yourself to be absolutely blown away and without even knowing will find yourself drawn into the story. Jackson could not believe that the woman responsible for stealing money from one of the annex’s clients was in fact Keagan a woman he had an interaction with some years before and had not seen since, however she had stayed with him in his memories and he wanted to meet up with his Little Fox again and straighten out a few matters. As the story continues and without wanting to spoil the plot it is based around Keagan who was in fact trying to discover more about the death of her adaptive mother, the only person that had ever cared for her, offered her a home and had loved her without any resistance what-so-ever. As Jackson and Keagan had once again started to interact with each other it became apparent that it was obvious the attraction was once again taking over the two of them and as he had started to see how much the young woman he had once known had changed it became obvious that there was far more going on than she knew regarding the death of Katarina Silverstone. Without telling anything that will spoil the plot I will say that there are plenty of twists and turns and that you will be totally enthralled by the actual plot, there are lots of surprises and lots of steamy sexy interludes with Jackson. This is a wonderful read I cannot recommend it enough you will be like myself blown away, it is cleverly written and the plot will hold your attention from start to finish and I cannot express that you will be like myself unable to put the book down once you begin reading this wonderful book. I voluntarily received and review an Advanced Reader Copy I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.
OMG I would love to give this book more than 5 stars!! Suspense, drama, spanking anda lot of other naughtiness!! Jackson Titon comes back to town to reconnect with his cousins and expand his business. One day while visiting his cousin he is confronted with the picture of somebody from his past Keagan stole $200K from a patron of the Annex where she got in illegally and Jackson identified her and makes a deal to resolve the problem for Ash. As soon as he grabs her, their history repeats itself and her search for finding what happened to her mother just got more intense with Jackson's help The characters are fascinating and the story twisted but it will not leave you hanging but turning the pages and not wanting to put it down. I volunteered to review the story.
Keagan Fox was given bad news by her foster mother's boss, Elliot Janson. Katarina was on vacation, deciding to take a plane for a Safari...and the plane crashed, killing her. Keagan was beyond thinking, but something didn't sound right...so after completing her work assignments for Janson, she was looking into her foster mother's death, finding the last person believed to see her, a man named Potier, who owned a beer company...she finally got a chance to see him, but then Jackson Titon confronts her with an accusation of an Annex patron who states he was robbed of $200,000 by Keagan...she didn't deny the charge, but managed to get away from Jackson, even though she lost her chance to speak with Potier...but Jackson wasn't that easy to lose...and even though they had a relationship in the past, he needed answers now...so stubborn Keagan wouldn't answer any questions...with chemistry off the charts, you will need to read this adult fairy tale to see what happens...I voluntarily read this book through an Advanced Reader Copy.
This hound is on the hunt How I love those Titon men. The author always makes them hot, gorgeous, over the top alpha males who will do anything to take possession of the woman meant to be theirs. Then she adds in the best plots that are exciting and keep me glued to my seat from the beginning to the end. I absolutely love the way this author makes me lose myself in her books and I can’t wait to see what she thinks up next.
Absolutely loved this great read. The main characters were perfect for one another. Lots of intrigue and twists and turns in this magnificent storyline! Jackson Titon was on the hunt for Keagan Foxx with her secrets and lies could he unravel the web of lies? Will Jackson find her in Kassel? And take her captive to find out, but who will suffer for her lies and secrets? Twists and turns you never see coming that keep you on the edge of your seat and wonder who will the next one to be murdered? A well rounded amazing read that I highly recommend. I voluntarily reviewed this book after receiving a free copy
"She’d make him pay for this. And it would hurt. She’d make it painful." I'm not so sure Keagan has that in her!
Jackson, where do I start, with alpha, sexy, Jackson? Well, wherever he'd like! LOL
I started at word one, and had complete and utter satisfaction right until the last word! Ms. Stone knows exactly how to entertain this reader, and I'm sure countless others! I enjoyed Hound A LOT!
Absolutely, every time, love the sexy scenes (best...), no, loved all the scenes, and the plot twists too!
I received an advanced reader copy, and this is my honest and voluntary review.
Mostly enjoyed it. My biggest pet peeve is when an author, not just this author but any puts dozens and dozens of sex scenes in the majority of the book. Sometimes I think I could just read the beginning and the end and wouldn't miss anything.... there's little bits and pieces of information in the middle half of the book but not much. You can tell when it's just there to take up space. Some didn't even make sense of why that scene was there at the moment.
I felt for the MFC with everything she went through when she was young..... I was a bit surprised of who he was to her....the mother was just another hired person.
Jackson is the MMC and a cousin to the men who were in the earlier books..... apparently he and his father was run out of town because his father was the third son of the head of the Mafia and he didn't just want to work for his older brother. Now with him dead he has returned and his cousin has took over but he is getting everyone of the family into legal money..... one more book of the series
This is the fourth book in the Ever After series & can be read as a standalone. It's a dark second chance romance based on The Fox & the Hound. Keagan Foxx is on a personal mission, one which affects the powerful Titon family. Jackson Titon once shared her bed & when they meet again, some pretty powerful fireworks start! I love these two characters together! Absolutely explosive with some great scenes together, especially when the hound chases the fox. I was so caught up in the characters reuniting that I forgot about Keagan's mission for a bit & then suddenly I was all caught up in the plot! Riveting read, great characters, love this series!
I received a copy of this book. My honest opinion is voluntarily provided.
Ms. Stone effortlessly envelops the reader in her characters & plots with writing that swirls you into her written world. Jackson & Keagan are the H/h for this contemporary take on 'The Fox & The Hound' but this fairytale includes Ms. Stone's signature sizzle that scorches the reader's Kindle. I became invested in her characters, needed to know more about them; I was intrigued by the plot, determined to see where it went & how the characters traveled their paths. Would they prevail? Would they find a HEA? Together? For a wonderful mix of sizzle, romance, tension & mystery 'Hound' is a fine choice.
Keagan is a woman on a mission as she is determined to uncover the truth regarding the death of her mother. The only problem is her search has garnered the attention of the Titon family, and in particular Jackson, a blast from the past.
Jackson knows what Teagan has been up to and now the only question that remains is why. When they meet the chemistry and connection between is stronger than ever and her attempts to escape are futile. Now that she is back in his life, he intends to keep her, but first they must solve the secrets and surprises that surround them.
A very sexy, hot story that starts off with Keagan getting into a dangerous situation that risks some friends along with herself. Jackson decides she needs protecting and some strong guidelines to learn self control and obedience. As she tries to find out what really happened to her mother, she pushes some dangerous buttons on some evil men who want to keep their secrets. Jackson helps her and takes total control over her as they explore their desires for each other. Many secrets are revealed and their sexual compatibility explored during their very erotic times with each other. The hunt is on once Keagan dons her fox tail and it's an exciting adventure for both her and Jackson.
Let loose the Hound! Wow - I have loved all of the books surrounding the Annex. It’s dominant deliciousness on steroids, and beware any lucky lady who gets caught in their sights. This author knows what it takes to draw the reader into the intrigue and sensual web her characters always create, and this book pushes all of the right buttons. The prey will always try to escape the Hound, at least until you want to be caught... Great read!
Measha Stone has such creativity and imagination. Each book in this series is perfectly named, Hound included. You will love Hound! We also get to catch up with several past characters - which is a personal favorite thing of mine.
Yes definitely The Fox and the Hound aka Keagan and Jackson. When Keagans mother dies she needs answers and money, but she hit on the wrong guy which brings her to the attention of Jackson her sometime Dom from long ago, she's in deep trouble and now Jackson is too but for a different reason. This is hot to trot, a fabulous chemistry and wonderful twists along with a red hot romance, it's a must read. I voluntarily reviewed this book.
Based loosely on "The Fox & The Hound ". Unlike the previous books I found it difficult to recognize the similarities between the fairy tale and the book except, maybe, the name. Interesting story lines and attractive characters. Though the ending was kind of violent for my liking, it set the stage for another book (Jackson's brother?). I can't wait for my next reading in this series. It never disappoint.
Book 4 in Measha’s Ever After series is such a hot read I just could not put it down (causing a very late night for me).. I loved the intrigue, suspense and drama that unfolds on every page as Keagan and Jackson work their way through old family secrets.. While loosely based on the fairytale The Fox and The Hound this is probably the hottest version that I have read....love love love it...
Jackson ,Keagan Are the main characters in the storyline but I absolutely love this Little delightful treat it had my heart pumping i was holding my breath waiting for the next deliciously sexy action packed word I did not put this down until the very last word wow Another winner in my book.
I really enjoyed this book it was funny and sad and sexy and had a mystery. Keagan and Jackson were so well matched and obviously there was an electricity between them even if they kept calling it playing for now. Jackson projected his big bad Dom image but he was really a softie, at least where Keagan was concerned, and he wanted to protect Keagan from anyone who might be a threat, even his own cousin. There was a real twist in this story that added to the interest and a twist to the twist if that is possible. The ending was perfect and this is a wonderful addition to the Ever After series.
Holy Foxtails, Batman! The Ever After series is just getting better and better with each book, and Hound is the best yet. Jackson Titon is definitely a jealous alpha, but without being too heavy handed with his attitude. He's strong, dominant, and he rules Keagan with a firm hand and furry foxtail. There are some excellent twists throughout the story, and I was so excited to see the ladies from previous Ever After books joining forces with Keagan. I can't wait for the next installment in the Titon universe.
Oh, those Titon men! A dominant bunch they are, and frightfully good at scaring people into compliance. But when the right woman comes along they single-mindedly go after her over and around all obstacles. And then they turn overbearingly protective (Pssst, and sometimes they're just sweet) This story comes with all the steaminess that's a trademark of their relationships and as a bonus you get an old mystery that has a surprising conclusion.
Jansen isn't the type of man to let his little fox run away. He is wise to keep her collared and under his control. Keagan's tenacious and loyal, but my heart broke for her at her remembrance of not being adopted. No matter the reason.
