This book was soooo cute. I loved reading the story of how Gideon and Penny met and found a lasting love. They were adorable together, and Gideon is such a romantic, i love him so much.

Having not read any of the other books in this series nor always remembering it was set in 1971 I found myself often being confused as I was reading Gideon's Precious Penny. The story had a few characters for me to get know. This is Gideon and Penny's story and I liked how Gideon and Penny could talk things through - even if it was a few days later. Their relationship, feelings and love happened in a short span after their unexpected meeting in the park but I wish the story had gone on a little longer since it ended abruptly for me. There were also too many starter stories for me in the back of the book.
There were family and friends as well as schooling and Penny's family business at the egg farm in the forefront. Gideon was into technology and was on the cutting edge of it. He seemed way before his time. He worked and went to school plus was trying to fit Penny into his life in a meaningful way. Penny was interested in going to law school once she finished college and it was a very male dominated endeavor. The story had a good flow but the ending left me wanting more. I may or may not try to read the other books in the series. I liked the cover and the title.

I paid a small amount for this book and price is not the point. The story was very enjoyable but I thought it would be a longer book since it felt like it was unfinished. Granted it was the sequel to the previous seven books pertaining to each son which were also very enjoyable reads but I thought this book would dwell into the marriage and the early lives of Gideon and Penny's marriage and their sons growing up.
I was reading this via my kindle and it ended at 61% with the rest being promotions for the other books in this series.
The book ends abruptly which in my mind is not right. If this is how the book ends it should have been written FIRST and then have the the next seven books appear after.

Oh, the egg-crater and the technology inventor! Will they make it?
Home for summer break from UT-Austin, Penny, and Gideon decide to join forces and see what they can work out. Penny breaks up with her boring boyfriend and Gideon asks her out on a date. The click! I guess that’s the right terminology for their relationship. This seems to be set in the early to mid-70s with the beginning of technology – mainframes taking up the whole room and microwave ovens just hitting the market. There is mention of Steve Jobs and several technology-related companies.
A fun read for me because I remember the time.

A Texas cowboy finds love in his hometown.
Enjoyed reading about Gideon and Penny the Walker boys folks. Their relationship was really sweet. But both seemed to have a lot on their plates. They got into a disagreement but got it quickly resolved. So happy that they made up and are looking toward the future. I was sorry the story wasn't somewhat longer I wanted to see them married and their family started. But we just go right into their son Rhett story. I've enjoyed the series that have families in them. You fall in love with each one. Each one of the covers for the Walker men series showed very good looking men. Will read more by Liz.

As an escape he takes the family’s two dogs to a park to play. When they run off, he follows only to be met with the sight of his dogs warmly greeting a beautiful woman. Thus, begins a whirlwind romance between two driven people with goals and commitments they need to learn to juggle and adjust if they want to make their relationship last. It was interesting to read since it takes place before a lot of modern technology. It brought back memories of those days before cell phones and personal computers. I had read a story about one of their sons, Rhett, and it was nice to see where he got his manners from.
Gideon and Penny really have a lot of things to work out with them both wanting to have careers and families. Their careers will be very time consuming and they need to figure out how to compromise with each other. My only complaint is that there wasn’t more of their story, it ended too soon.

WOW after reading this great story about how Penny and Gideon meet and the stormy beginning they had it now makes sense how their seven sons fared at the beginning of their relationships. Who would have known they had such a stormy beginning? They are wonderful with all seven of the Walker sons and their wives! You will want to read this great story by Liz Isaacson to find out how Penny and Gideon first met and got together! It's awesome!

I listened to the audio book of Gideon's Precious Penny! It was interesting to hear how an egg crater/law student and a cowboy/technology student got together. Their romance wasn't easy but they learned to discuss things and make life together work. I enjoyed learning about the beginnings of the Walker Family. I recommend this book to others. I received a complimentary audio book from the author. This is my honest opinion.

I’ve read all of the other books and it feels like this book ended so abruptly. We know he became a billionaire. It seems if this was a precursor to all of his seven sons getting their billions, it would have been nice to learn how and when that happened. It also would have been nice to hear about Penny’s decision to delay law school since we know she eventually passed the bar. It was cute and fun but dot very satisfying.

I loved getting to see the Walker brothers’ parents’ romance story. It was a sweet novella and great intro to the coming series. Of course, I read about all of the boys before this story came out, but it was great to read on the back end and I’m jealous of you all who get to start the series this way!

I really enjoyed seeing how Gideon and Penny were getting on especially with the study and work they both had to do. Nice to see signs of being able to thank God and also accept parents advice. It has been a bit of a rocky road but lovely to see they want to be together and work out when they can get married.

Reading this book along with the Seven Sons Ranch you learn where the sons got their handsome looks, their cowboy politeness, working ability, kind and loving heart, with some aggravation. The ability to be the best husband and Fathers along with a great gift from loving parents and the guidance of God.

Another one of Liz's wonderful books. You just can't not read any of her books. They are full of laughter, pain, anger and of course love. I received this book as a gift in exchange for an honest review.

This is a prequel to the Three Rivers Ranch (although technically it lists as book 8) and the reader is introduced to the mother and father of the Walker. While this novel was enjoyable, IMHO, it read more like "fluff" or filler. I liked it but it wasn't riveting.

Introduces the parents of the boys at Seven Sons Ranch at the point where they first met and the path they grow through to become the wonderful people we eventually meet in the series.
Gideon was given great advice in this story that still holds true for couples today.

A wonderful feel good romance. Gideon and Penny meet when his dogs run away. He tracks them down at the park slobbering all over Penny. She's laughing and petting them. They get to know each over the summer with lots of ups and downs to struggle through. Great story.

This is the prequel to the Seven Sons Ranch series and is the final book in the series. It is the story of how Gideon won Penny. They figured it out - love, forgiveness and a lot of talking things out make a great relationship.

I just finished the entire series and really enjoyed them all. After In started reading the first book I realized I had red them before. But I loved reading them again. Great work Liz!

After reading this entire series I was delighted to receive this prequel. It is a good introduction to the Walker family created by Liz Isaacson. The book gives insight to the parents background.

Liz has a YouTube channel that she posts some of her books in audio form. I listened to this today, it was wonderful how Gideon and Penny fell in love slowly and they shared what they wanted in life.
