This is a neat little book of ideas focused on Sumerian-style mythology and adventuring. This goes unstated, but we very quickly see place names like Eshnunna and divine names like Enki, Neural, and Erishkigal.

Eshnunna is presented as a hex crawl: a map with numbered locations corresponding to simple ideas for what can be found at that location (on that hex). A temple, a talkative shepherd, a witch with goat-headed men for husbands. A ghost town. Simple, 2d6 encounter charts are provided for Flood Plains, Scrub Hills, and Forested Hills, where you can meet (rolls dice) Elamite raiders, or scorpion-men, or spiders hunting the hills.

There are also slightly more generic items, such as the “Ringed Toes of the Pickled Foot”, a “large jar, containing a male foot severed diagonally across the instep, pickled in vinegar”. Each toe bears a ring of special power.

There is one small and interesting abandoned and ruined wizard’s tower to explore and various encounters that can be slotted in to any wilderness adventure.

Finally, there’s an interesting bit of adventure fiction, but only part 1. Judging from a quick internet search, it may be literally from the author’s campaign; if so, it’s one of the better examples of such works.

Overall (except for the fiction) this is a neat little sourcebook for adding something exotically ancient to your game world.
