She’d watched him from afar for years…now he’s up close and personal.
Shy librarian Cara spent her life overshadowed by her three older brothers, while secretly crushing on their best friend. After a family tragedy, he cut himself out of their lives, but she still watches his house on the hill from the darkness of her bedroom every night. Then she gets a second chance to reveal the man behind the mask. A night of revelry leads to passion and high hopes, until her tortured hero’s troubled past rises from the shadows. Will he retreat into the darkness once more or let obsession lead him to her love?
Dani Wade astonished her local librarians as a teenager when she carried home 10 books every week – and actually read them all. Now she writes her own characters who clamor for attention in the midst of the chaos that is her life. Residing in the southern U.S. with a husband, two kids, two dogs, and one grumpy cat, she stays busy until she can closet herself away with her characters once more.
Once upon a time, Cara Gatlin was in love with the boy next door…until tragedy struck and the loss of his parents became her loss as well. As time passed, Cara still finds herself fantasizing about the tall dark and mysterious Jacob Montgomery. She has been researching the Montgomery Family history and is desperate for an answer as to why he turned his back on her. As fate would have it, she finds herself invited to a masquerade ball with Jacob in attendance, and a night of passion soon turns into more questions than answers…will Jacob once again break her heart, or is there something much more sinister behind his coldness.
Shadow Manor is a quick read that reminds me of the gothic romance novels I loved to read with my mom. While I wish the author would have given me just a wee bit more story, it appears this will be a series of novellas, and I’m looking forward to the next Covington Corner secret to be revealed! Would recommend to fans of short smexxy romance with just a hint of mystery!
**I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received via Booksprout. All thoughts and opinions are my own. **
If you like short Novellas with romance and mystery built in, this is the book to read. This a different type of book that I’m use to reading from the author but it is awesome and kept me interested from the beginning all the way to the end. Now that I know that there will be a story for Cara’s friend Olivia, I hope that there’s also a story for her other two friends Piper and Jamie.
Before Jacob Montgomery went away to school, he and Cara Gatlin and her brothers use to spend lots of time at her parent’s house. Cara and Jacob have feelings for each before things can progress Jacob is sent away to boarding school. Jacob is a reclusive and pretty much keeps to himself after the tragedy death of his parents. He is a millionaire and employs many of the residents from the small town of Covington, he also gives back to the community and helps out many.
Cara Gatlin, is a shy Archival Librarian and she has three friends Jamie, Olivia and Piper of which she and Olivia seem to have a special bond and share secrets between the two of them.

Clara and Jackson have known each other for many years and Carla has had feelings for him that feels like forever but when his parents are killed in a car accident Jackson closes himself off from everyone and Carla needs to no why. There are many twists and turns along with secrets, pain and so many other emotions that you can feel them coming of the page's of this book and you have to keep turning to see what will happen next and so addictive that you can't put it down. I love this book so much and the connection and chemistry between Clara and Jackson is so strong. I definitely recommend you read this book as Dani Wade is an amazing author and writer and her books are definitely worth reading and I am looking forward to reading more of Dani's books. I Voluntarily Reviewed an ARC Copy of this book.
I quite enjoyed this introduction to the new series. It has all the angst and atmosphere of a dark Gothic romance with the charm of the modern south locale. I loved Cara and all her introverted librarian sensibilities. Jacob is mysterious and brooding and the perfect image of a Gothic hero. Their push/pull dynamic drove me a little mental, but I adored the happy ever after ending they achieve. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book through Booksprout.

I was very pleased with this story! Despite being a short story, it had plenty of emotion and sizzle to keep me satisfied. I curled up with this one evening and was pulled in from the start, can't wait for the next one. Ms Wade is a new to me author, but it won't be my last book.

This short read is my first time reading the author. I enjoyed her writing style and thought she did a great job with plot and characters development. It’s very easy to read this cover to cover in one sitting. I’m looking forward to more from this author.

Cara, a shy librarian, has a crush on her brothers best friend. Will his past trouble get in the way? You need to read this to find out! Well written and engaging, Shadow Manor was a great read for me. I loved it!
A quick read that read like a larger story. Gave off Gothic romance/ mystery vibes but was set in modern times. Looking forward to more in this series.
