I've been following this series from the get go, and have read (and loved) every entry. That doesn't change with this one. Absent are the main cast of characters, but we spend the course of Windweaver following Dave as he searches for a place that can help him deal with the fallout of his newfound power and his actions in the previous book. I can't tell you I was clamoring for a book that centered around Dave, but man am I glad we got one. Though, if I'm being honest, it's rough to see him struggle with who and what he is now.
For those who don't remember, Dave lost a woman he loved, gained powers he never asked for and ended up killing a man in cold blood. You can imagine the effect that that would have on a normal man, let alone one who is trying to figure out his place in a world that he didn't think he was truly a part of. He's tossed into a world of super-powered beings tasked with protecting humankind from dangers they're wholly unaware of. And now, he's one of them. But he can't even function like a normal person himself, understandable given the fact that he's the furthest thing from a normal person now.
Immeasurable and dangerous power, mixed with debilitating guilt, sorrow, anger and regret is a concoction that lends itself to chaos. And that's Dave's life right now. Throughout Windbreaker, we witness Dave search for and find the safe haven Albert sent him in search of, but does it help him like Albert thought it would? Or does it make things worse? Pick this one up to find out. I promise you won't be disappointed.
