One thing I knew for sure, I did not like Steven, Jake, or Aunt Verna. Steven was accusing Dan of being manipulative while he was doing the same thing with Amy. Aunt Verna made a decision about her life that was suddenly supposed to make Amy change Amy's life under the cover of it was time for Amy to have a family, etc. Jake seemed to expect Dan to live the same kind of lifestyle he lived, never giving any consideration to the possibility of his friend needing something a bit less shallow.

I had mixed feelings about Dan and Amy at first. Dan's inability to let go of the past seemed to have more to do with his guilt than any overwhelming love of Tess. It actually sounded like he harbored some low key resentment towards Tess. He was selfish, and Amy allowed him to be selfish. I expect it was because of that fine line between employer/employee and lovers that they had.

Amy had the tendency to flip flop about her thoughts and feelings. Depending on who spoke to her on what day, at what time of day, determined when her doubts about herself, Dan, her career or whatever would creep into her consciousness.

Despite all of that, I was still rooting for Dan and Amy to make a go of it. I enjoyed the book. I liked Emma. I liked Amy's relationship with Emma. I actually liked Dan and Amy together. They had chemistry. I liked that the conflict resolved itself quickly.

I wish there had been more info about a couple of things I would have liked to have seen. My wish list includes:
I would have liked to have read about Dan's confrontation with Tess' parents about custody. I would have liked Dan and Amy to have worked out their issues earlier and been able to read more about them as a couple after their reconciliation. i would have like to have had an epilogue. Was Amy's job opportunity mentioned after they reached their HEA? What was going to happen there? As much as I liked the book, I wish we had gotten more of the "feels good", and less of the " uncertainty ".

I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

The heart wants what the heart wants, and more often than not, we just want a home and a family to call our own.

I cannot imagine how one could work as a live in nanny and not fall in love with the kiddo one's taking care of. The feeling of having a family... yet not having a family must be one of the saddest feelings ever.

Amy was destined to be a mom, she shows this in the way that she cares for Dan and Emma. It's like a ready made family ... but not quite. She's the nanny, not the mom; not the wife. She yearns for more but also doesnt want to jeopardize her job.

Dan also wants more, but he is also still living a bit in the past. He's not sure how he can love another when he feels like his wife was the love of his life. He enjoys Amy's company and how she takes care of them but is scared to make the leap.

Things get more interesting when Amy gets the opportunity to work somewhere else. The realization that they could lose the person who was holding their family together spurs Dan into action.

The premise of the story is interesting; the way it was written is, as always, excellent. Cindy never disappoints with how she builds up her stories, with just enough heat and angst. I loved Amy and Emma right from the start, and I grew to love Dan as things progressed. This is a fun read, one that made me sad in places (the parallel between Amy and Emma losing their moms so early in life made me teary eyed), smile in places and ponder in places. The knowledge that love makes things possible also made reading this story a feel-good moment.

Love finally takes his heart!

Love finally takes his heart! I love this story. This is about Dan and Amy. Amy is a nanny to Emily who lost her mother while giving birth to her second child, leaving Dan and Emily alone three years ago. Amy has been with them right before they lost Tess, Emily's mother. For three years, Amy has been content in what she has been doing even the feelings she has developed for both father and daughter. The story starts off with Amy daydreaming on her life with Dan while Dan is having drinks with his friend who puts in the idea of Amy getting married to another man and leaving him and Emily. Emily is too cute bringing up Steven who is Amy’s friend, but she calls him her boyfriend and sings “Steven and Amy are KISSING in tree…” and that wakes Dans heart up. Although he fell in love instantly with his first wife, the love he developed over time with Amy is much different, but something he doesn’t recognize right away and may be too late as Amy has decided to give herself a career that she loves and leaves them. It is sad when one person is trying to fill the shoes of someone that is no longer there, but it is much sadder when one doesn’t let go of what they use to have….and explore the new possibilities staring straight at them.

I received an Advanced Reader Copy of this book from the publisher and am voluntarily reviewing it. Worth the Wait is the summer romance you didn't know you needed to read. This novel shares the story of Dan Major, a widowed single father and his struggle with letting go of the past and opening his heart again to love. Amy Logan has been the live-in nanny to Dan's young daughter since she was a toddler. Having spent so much time with her young charge and living in the family home, Amy can't help but long for a traditional family of her own - something she was denied as a young child. Amy soon finds herself falling for her employer, but is not willing to risk her heart or job to pursue him. Dan on the other hand, is willing to make Amy a personal member of his family, but without risking his heart. Their relationship must transverse the awkwardness from that of professional to personal, which Ms. Kirk so aptly details. Without sharing any spoilers, there is plenty of deceit interfering with Dan's plans, enough to add some intrigue to the romance. However, I will add that the characters are mature and responsible, which is always refreshing. This novel is a sweet romance that will keep you tied to its pages as you sun yourself at the beach.

Amy Logan has worked as a live-in nanny for 3 years, working for Dan Major taking care of him and his gorgeous young daughter. However Amy has been dreaming of a life with her boss Dan, who she has been falling in love with.

Dan's wife died in childbirth and he has struggled to get over their deaths. Whilst Dan is also looking to the future, his main concern is to make sure his daughter Emma is cared for in case anything happens to him. Dan decides he needs to find a mother for Emma, and realises that Amy fits the bill. To him love is not important. Dan likes her well enough and feels a marriage will be a perfect fit for Emma’s sake. However Amy has other ideas, she wants love, the whole package!

When Dan and Amy start to date and then become intimate, he realises that he feels more than like, but he struggles with admitting that he loves her. In spite of challenges thrown in their way and misunderstandings, Amy and Dan get their HEA.

This was a sweet and easy read, which I couldn't put down. I love Ms Kirk's characters and these were no exception (especially Emma!). I definite thumbs up from me for this one.

Amy is a live in nanny for widower Dan and his 6 year old daughter Emma. Amy loves Dan, but she doesn't think he feels the same. She is spending time with Steven, a lawyer she met in a cooking class. Dan loved his wife Tess, who died 3 years ago pregnant with their 2nd child. Amy has fantasies of her and Dan together, but Steven and her Aunt Verna, who raised her after her Mom left, and her father passed, keep telling her to move out and move on. She is offered a job as a pastry chef, and decides to take it. Emma is in school now, when she would be working. She and Dan kiss a few times, then they make love. Dan really cares for her and proposes. Amy accepts, she wants to be his wife. She overhears Dan talking to a friend, and asks if he loves her, he can't say yes, so Amy moves out. The following month Dan is talking to an ex about cats, sees Amy and realizes he loves her. He gets her a cat like the one her Father had gotten her before he passed. He proposes again, telling her he loves her again and again. She accepts and they tell Emma she is staying with them forever.

Loved this story and I just could not put it down. Amy is in love with Dan, but he doesn't see her as anything but the nanny for his daughter. Amy is amazing and deserves someone who loves her for who she is but Dan is selfish and thoughtless, and stuck in his past, not being able to see what is right there in front of him.

I loved Amy from the minute I met her but Dan took a little longer, but that's what Cindy is so good at. Drawing you in immediately to the story, so much so that you feel you are there with the characters. Then letting Dan mature into himself as he learns to let go of the things that don't matter so that he can live the life he needs and wants, and we learn to love him too.

Although the book is set in the run up to Christmas it is not a Christmas book per se. I read this sat on a blanket, by a stream, in the Yorkshire Dales in glorious sunshine. So enjoy reading this sweet romance in your favourite place. Enjoy xx

Amy works for Dan as a nanny to his daughter as his wife passed away three years ago. But she has become more than his nanny, as she enjoys taking care of him also. She has morphed into the wife and mother role but without the benefits. With her friend Steven in the picture, Dan is afraid he is going to lose her and comes up with the idea that they should get married and decides to woo her while Steven is away. Amy has the opportunity to work at a restaurant and she wants to have it all - family and a career but Dan wants her at the house and not have an outside career, like his first wife did. But Amy wants it all - love and a career. Dan needs to discover that the love he has for Amy can be a love that is different than the one he had with his first wife.

Another enjoyable summer read from Ms. Kirk. Her characters come to life, and show human flaws and emotions. Her characters are all quite relatable.

Amy Logan had a wonderful life. For 3 years she lived in and worked for Dan Major taking care of him and his young daughter, but lately it wasn’t enough. Lately Amy has been fantasizing of a life, of more, and all of it included her boss Dan.
Dan is also looking to the future but his primary concern is to make sure his daughter Emma is cared for by someone who will love her just in case something happens to him. After a confrontational conversation with his mother-in-law, Dan decides to find a mother for Emma and who better but Amy who already loves her like her own. Dan likes her enough and feels a marriage with like will do for Emma’s sake. Amy has other ideas, she wants love.
Dan starts to date Amy but as things move forward his feeling change toward her and become real. I wasn’t crazy about Amy, she seemed a little pushy in the relationship but in her situation with already living with them it made things awkward.

I'm not a fan of romance with MC who's so hung up on dead-ex. I'm not saying that widows/widower/anyone with dead-ex should live alone forever, I just don't like it when the dead-ex is the biggest conflict between H and h, cuz one of them is still in love or pining over a ghost.
Shouldn't we let them rest in peace? 😬

Widower single-dad H and nanny h romance, with a very cute little girl👧 who made me want to hug tight! Because of her, I added 1 more star to my initial 2-stars rating.

After reading this book, I have no doubt that if H's ex-wife was still alive, H would have never given their nanny h a second look. 😬
I wish H was also h's second-best. Lol.

H: 2 stars
h: 4 stars
Side characters: 3 stars
Story: 3 stars
Execution: 2 stars
Smut: 2.5 stars

Amy came to work as a nanny for Dan and Tess two months before the birth of their second child. Tess and the baby tragically die in childbirth, leaving a grieving Dan to take care of his daughter Emma with the help of Amy. Three years have passed, and Amy loves Emma, and is crushing on Dan. While Dan doesn’t think he can love anyone else, he hatches a plan to convince Amy to marry him to secure a loving mom for Emma and a companion for himself. While I normally love Cindy Kirk’s books, I had a harder time warming up to Dan. Bottom line, he was a narcissist who needed everyone to acquiesce to his every needs. Okay, perhaps I am being a bit harsh, but I felt like yelling at Amy, “You deserve better than this guy! Give the hot lawyer a chance.” Overall a decent book, just not one of my favorites.

Amy has been a live-in nanny to Emma for three years. When Emma's mom unexpectedly dies while pregnant with her second child, Amy holds the family together. Emma's parents were school sweethearts and Dan doesn't believe he can ever love someone the way he loved Tess. Many people refer to Dan as cold, but I think he is very well portrayed as a grieving widow that blames himself for the loss of his wife. It was Dan's desire for a large family that cost him his wife. Also, Dan remembers Tess as his ideal partner. It is only towards the end of the book that Dan realizes that Tess wasn't a perfect wife and mother. He also realizes that loving someone else, doesn't take away from his love for Tess. I am glad that his character took his time becoming open and willing to love. It made it seem more genuine.

I received an Advanced Reader Copy from the publisher and am voluntarily reviewing it. Amy Logan is a nanny for Dan Major for his daughter, Emma. His wife passed away from complications of a pregnancy. Amy has become ingrained in this family as her only family is an aunt that took her in after her parents passed away. Recently, Amy started having some feelings toward Dan and was trying to figure out what to do with all of these feelings.

Dan, on the other hand, had a discussion with his mother-in-law about the custody of Emma should something happen to him. This prompted him to start looking at Amy in a different light. The decision was made to marry Amy while her "friend" was out of town for two weeks.

Two weeks to make Amy fall in love with him despite not feeling the same way about her. This was a marriage of convenience, right? He could not let his daughter be stuck with his in-laws who have vowed to fight for custody if anything happened to him.

Again, Cindy Kirk makes you fall in love with Amy and little Emma and even Dan. Amy is a woman that has missed finding herself and jumped into to the role of mother for Emma and wants to be a wife in a marriage full of love.

You'll fall in love this with short story. It grabs you and makes you want to hug and shelter Amy from everything and of course, little Emma is adorable.

While reading this book, I found myself cheering for some characters and wanting to slap others. Amy is a nanny for Emma and makes Dan's life easy. She does a bit of catering on the side as baking is her passion. She meets Stephen at one of her cooking classes and they agree to cook meals for each other so they can try new recipes. She wants to be friends but you know he wants more. Dan is content to go along with life as he knows it. He starts to become a bit worried when he notices Amy spending more time with Stephen and then panics a bit when his in-laws mention they'd fight for custody of Emma if something happened to him. So he hatches a plan to woo Amy to marry him. Being a bit self absorbed he thinks that this will be all Amy wants in life. Things don't exactly go as planned and Amy moves out. A previous girlfriend opens his eyes to his behavior and it then becomes up to him to change and win Amy or not.

Worth the Wait is a story of love lost and love longed for, about learning to let go of the past and realizing your worth. Dan married his childhood sweetheart whom he lost in childbirth 3 years ago and knows he will never love like that again. Amy has been nanny, homemaker and everything to Dan and his daughter Emma, and now has realized this is her perfect dream family except Dan doesn't love her. Imagine her surprise when he starts showing interest and she thinks all her dreams are coming true. As reasons are revealed, fears are realized and truth changes everything, they will have to determine what is real and important. This story is a rollercoaster of emotions that will engage and entertain until the last page, the characters and their issues are realistic and relatable.

I love and devour anything written by this author so I was excited to read a new romance.

Unfortunately, reading this story was a bit emotionally bumpy for me. I found myself downright cringing at some parts and getting frustrated that Amy kept spacing out so often that many of her conversations were interrupted by her not listening. Dan did some spacing out in a few conversations himself so I don't know why everybody in this story was so easily distracted by daydreams.

There was some incongruency in the character's actions. They would decide to do something (or not) and immediately after their actions did the exact opposite.

Those issues aside, it was a cute story in Cindy Kirk's style and I did end up feeling good at the end.

Worth the Wait by Cindy Kirk is a heartwarming, feel good novel filled with a cast of captivating characters.
Cindy Kirk is a fantastic storyteller. She creates flawed, relatable characters, adds in a relationship conflict or two and stirs in the right amount of romance to heat up the storyline.
There is chemistry between architect Dan Major and his nanny Amy Logan. Amy feels it but, widower Dan does not plan to marry again. Amy appealed to me-she was at a crossroads personally and professionally and knew she had to make changes in her life. At first, I thought Dan wasn’t honest with Amy-but as the book unfolded I began to understand what motivated him. Loved the characters of Steven and Jake and how their conversations prompted Amy and Dan to think outside the box.
Worth the Wait has all the feels- it’s a romantic, emotional and entertaining read.

Dan and Amy have been in the same household for several years as she has cared for his daughter as a nanny since his wife died during childbirth. When chemistry comes into play, Dan foolishly decides that if he can make Amy fall in love with him he can ensure she will be his daughter's guardian without drama from his late wife's family. When Amy realizes the only reason he wants marriage is to appease his conscience in regards to his daughter's well-being, Amy leaves the household. Eventually Dan realizes the error of his ways and finds a way to make it right so they both get a happily ever after and become a true family.

I liked this book a lot. Characters have flaws, tend to keep too much to themselves, are scared to become vulnerable. This describes Dan and Amy, and really. everyone. Dan makes mistakes early on, poor motivations among them. Amy does too, but she's human like all of us.

Viewing as a reader, we easily see how they should act, and how they should communicate, but then there would not be much of a story. Ms Kirk takes us on a bumpy, annoying sometimes (needed to be), and ultimately to a good place. All three main characters are nicely fleshed out, and we move along with them to the conclusion. I found this tome well worthwhile.

This was such a great story I read the whole book in one day! I just couldn’t put it down. I was so intrigued how it would work out between Dan and Amy. Chapter one from the first sentence had me hooked. After living together for 3 years and being the Nanny for Dan’s sweet daughter, Amy found it surprising she all of a sudden had feelings for Dan. Dan felt he could never love another woman after the tragic loss of his wife, 3 years earlier. However, to his surprise Dan began to realize he could not imagine his life without Amy. I highly recommend this sweet love story. You will love how it ends. I received an Advanced Reader Copy of this book from the publisher and I am voluntarily reviewing it.

I generally love anything written by Cindy Kirk, but for some reason I had trouble engaging with this book. This is the story of Amy Logan and Dan Major. Amy came to live with Dan and his wife Tess, as a nanny for their daughter Emma. Tess dies in childbirth, and Amy stays on, falling in love with Dan. Dan likes Amy, and decides he needs to marry Amy so she can be a mother to Emma and make Dan’s life easier. Yeah, Dan is a self-absorbed jerk.

Maybe it is Dan’s attitude that reduced my attachment to this story. Even Steven, who supposedly has an interest in Amy, comes across poorly. I don’t mean this is a bad book, as it is not. I did rate the book a 4 out of 5 stars. This story is just not one of my favorite Cindy Kirk stories.

Love comes in many forms and ways. For Amy, nanny to precious 6 year old Emma, it comes in the form of her long time employer and his daughter. A temporary job 3 years ago has become Amy's life and her heart after the death of Emma's mother and Dan's wife. As Amy longs for his love in silence, Dan plans to marry her thinking its a good practical idea but not love. But there may be problem as a handsome lawyer Stephen enters the picture pursing the lovely Amy. Will Dan let go of the past and realize he truly loves Amy before she is stolen away?

I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily reviewing it. Dan is a widower and likes his life how it is. Amy is his nanny who loves her job but until recently has never thought of him like “that”. But once she starts, she can’t stop. When Dan starts to get scared that Amy will leave them one day to start a family of her own, he comes up with a plan to marry her to keep her but not fall in love. Amy wants it all - love, marriage and kids and can’t make herself settle for someone who doesn’t love her. This is a sweet story of what happens when absence not only makes the heart grow stronger but also wakes you up to what your missing right in front if you.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this and loved the story line. After losing his wife suddenly, Dan was a love them and leave them type who was terrified of commitment. His nanny Amy was an absolute sweetheart who had totally fallen for her boss. The star of the show was Dan’s daughter Emma, such a cute little girl. They had their ups and downs with Dan totally messing up the relationship and it took Amy leaving to finally come to his senses and realise what he was losing. Great book I would totally recommend reading if you like an emotional story with a HEA.

Amy and Dan have lived comfortably together for three years as nanny and single-dad taking care of his delightful and sweet daughter. Kirk knows how to write kids and she does it again with adorable Emma. But now Amy wants more than a nanny relationship and Dan realizes he wants Amy.

A sweet story that turns warm and then hot as each try to figure out how to cross boundaries between comfortable friendship and work dynamics to find love in all the right places. It’s not always easy and Kirk makes sure this couple has a winding and rocky path to a happily-ever-after.

Once again Cindy Kirk captivates us through her ability to involve us right from the start of her novel. Amy has been the family nanny to 6 yr old Emma for the past 3 yrs. She has grown to love her young charge and the father too. Suddenly just caring for this family is not enough and she needs more. Dan the father and her employer remains honour bound in his love for his deceased wife and cant imagine loving anyone else but knows he can't lose Amy. Slowly he begins to romance Amy and realizes he does and can love her.

This is one of those stories that teach us the importance of grabbing ahold of what we have before we lose it. While reading the story and seeing both perspectives you almost want to shake both of them and just say wake up and see what's right there in front of you. I think it teaches the importance of stepping away from a situation or getting outside opinions. I really enjoyed the characters, the plot, and the overall story. It's a quick fun read. If you enjoy Cindy's books or heartfelt romances I think you'll enjoy this book.

I loved the story of Amy and Dan. However, I felt bad for Amy when everyone seemed to be telling how she should feel or what she should do instead of listening to what she wanted.

I was glad Dan finally realized he was being selfish and needed to compromise and just love what was right in front of his face. Although I am glad he saw her value and let her remodel his kitchen that is the heart of a family.

Dan was lucky to have someone so caring as Amy to hold them all together when his wife died.

I was glad I was able to receive an advanced readers copy so I could enjoy this story.
Enjoy the story...

Wow. I loved this it was heartfelt couldn’t put it down. To love someone and not be able to express it must be devastating, knowing that if you acted upon in you could loose everything. Amy is such a lovely person inside and out it just takes a wee while for Dan to realise that she is it for him. Change is always scary but sometimes letting go can make you life all the more richer in every way and most importantly free to take the chance and I am glad they both did in the end.
