One night changed an entire town.Ten years ago, I left Hawk Valley. I never planned to return. Not to the regrets. The bitter memories. The guilt. My baseball career gave me both the excuse and the money I needed to start over. Then my mom called, and I found myself headed back to the one place I swore I wouldn’t step foot again.Meeting Delilah wasn’t part of the plan. Falling in love with her adorable son was even less so. And yet, what’s brewing between us is too intense to be denied. The unexpected passion is almost enough to distract us from the crumbling of both our worlds. But even as the sparks fly, someone is waiting in the shadows to burn it all down.

Now this what I like in my romance books! A kind hearted, good man and son who’s all about his mother. He was ready to moved from a big city to his hometown for his mother. He was ready to move heaven and hell to get his mother healthy..

This book was one of the few and maybe the only book that I truly enjoyed both heroine and hero. This girl was a strong woman who loved her child with her whole heart. She would’ve done anything for him.

I’m not going to deny that I thought for a moment that this was going into a predictable trope.

Don’t read the spoiler if you don’t want the story to be spoiled.

I loved how hero loved his mother, the heroine and even her son. I loved how protective he was of them. How he was able to saved her from a fire even though it was his biggest fear.

I liked how he wasn’t into playing games with her. He knew what he wanted and it was her and her son. And more importantly getting his mother healthy.

A few quotes from him.

“Let me have your burdens. I’ll carry them with you. You don’t have to do this alone. I’ve got really big shoulders, and I’m good at carrying shit. Let me. I’ll carry it with you.”

“She’d wrapped herself up in my soul, clinging to my heart, and was as vital as marrow, blood, oxygen, and baseball. She was a part of me and I’d never let her go.”

“I love you, Delilah.” His voice was a hoarse whisper as he brushed his lips over my own, but he never took his eyes away from mine, which swelled with tears. “I love you so damn much. I always thought any woman would come second to baseball, but everything in this world comes second to you and Tuck. I know you’re a package deal, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I love you, Delilah,”

The twist was a bit predictable and that’s why I’m taking half of the star. And because I wanted them to help Shayla. My heart broke for her.

I haven’t read this author before so she has my attention now. The men were good men and they were not seen whoring themselves out. So yes I’ll definitely read the next book!

Safety: no details of their relationships outside, other than hero having previous relationships that had been only on surface level until he met the heroine. So no OW or OM drama at all. At least I wouldn’t call it OW drama because for me to call it that it has to be how the OW causes problems in their relationship and it did not happened here.

This was not a insta-love type of book. It’s not a smut book either but I wasn’t bothered in the least by this. I enjoyed it. Go figures. Oh and yes there’s sex in it, let me clarify that. 😏😊

I really wasn’t expecting to like this. But I did. Looking forward to next book in the series. Definitely would want to read about Mackenna and Colt!

Contemporary Romance | Suspenseful Elements

Ember by Emma Renshaw is a heartwarming, small town romance with suspenseful elements. This is the first book I’ve read from the author and I’m impressed with her storytelling ability. I loved how dynamic her characters were (both the hero AND the heroine) and felt the sizzling connection between them. The only downfall for me was that I was expecting so much more in terms of both of their backstories and felt some frustrations that this wasn’t delivered.

Gunner for example lived through something horrific right before he left the small town he lived in to play baseball. The prologue sets the tone for his past and makes readers believe that this is going to be an emotional book where the hero struggles with his emotions of what happens. While we do get a glimpse of what happened it’s never thoroughly explained to the reader. I really wanted to know so much more about what happened and the answers never came. This was frustrating for me as a reader because when you incorporate something that affects the characters, readers need to see it and understand it. Otherwise, it just becomes a filler for the story. Other than this, I really loved Gunner’s character. Emma writes him as a wholesome, good man with a heart of gold. I felt his passion, I felt his love, and I felt his protectiveness.

Delilah is also a strong character and I felt a strong connection with her. She has a huge heart, a fierce and loving nature, and a heart full of gold just like our hero. Her backstory was much “brighter”, and readers could see everything she’s been dealt. I think many readers will relate to her on some level.

The overall plot of this book was a good one. I liked the added suspense because it kept the story interesting and strong. However, I didn’t care for the major twist at the end. If I’m being honest, it was too “out there” for me. I can see WHY the author added this twist, but I think it was a little too much. For me, it would have made more sense for the “threat” that was discussed throughout the story to be the reason everything was happening. Obviously, that’s my personal opinion and there will be many readers who don’t agree with me so take it for what it’s worth and read the book yourself to determine how you feel.

Wrapping it up : For the most part I thought this was a good book and I enjoyed reading it. Emma Renshaw is a new to me author and I look forward to seeing where she takes the next book. If you’re in the mood for something heartwarming with suspenseful elements then you will definitely want to check out this book.

"One day a kiss would change everything."

Ever since reading the synopsis for Ember - I knew this had to go on my TBR. A synopsis from his POV is always enticing, but the actual story itself was very good in the dual POV she offered. For my first full read of Emma Renshaw's, I can confirm that I've been missing out on her easy flow and her lighthearted love stories. With an evident flair for writing a man with strength in his love and conviction in his belief, I need to check out her other stories. I did start the first book in her Vow Series, but I was mid-tours right after my surgeries from last year, so I didn't get to finish it. I will go back with renewed interest.

Like I said, the writing was nice and easy. Not a lot of depth, but super easy to get into and it allowed me to fall in love with the characters without issue. I easily connected with both Gunner and Delilah, as well as the secondary characters. It slowed down once it got into a groove, the characters grew, the love matured, and the family and friends were incorporated into the storyline - it was seriously the easiest read ever. The love grew quickly, but I actually kept pace with it rather well. I did have a few issues with the transition from scenes and time passage, but it ironed itself out the farther into the chapter we got.

Some of the scenes Renshaw delivered to set a moment were so intimate. The way he crowded her against the counter, breathed against her back and caged her in - *bites knuckle* - that was so sexy. So fun to imagine. I loved the picture she painted for me, because not only did she give me a side of Gunner that I wanted to see, but she also allowed me to feel the side of him that Delilah got to fall in love with and it made me just a little giddy. I do not know how anyone cannot fall head over heels in love with him. He was literal perfection!

It was just a splinter of excitement, but my love grew as Gunner allowed himself to joke around and tease Delilah. Seeing him break out and away from being so quiet and reserved gave him more of a human side to him - not just this workaholic, straight-laced, forlorn and withdrawn man. I loved the way he was level headed and very protective of her and it wasn't crazy, over the top. Awww man, he really made me smile. He wasn't only easy on the eyes, but he was easy on the heart and I loved reading about him.

"I'm not sure we ever know the moment we fall in love. It's little things that add into big things that become all-consuming until it's impossible to deny it."

Seeing Gunner and Delilah coming together, it really just provided an abundance of smiles for me throughout the book. Delilah consumed him and it was very apparent. I'm thankful it wasn’t cheesy, even though it was quick. It was an instant connection, but she allowed them time to grow and she did that really well. The progression of their relationship, as well as the story arc overall, was a quick pace. It didn’t feel like instalove - but maybe....one step down from that. I love an instant connection though, so I felt Gunner and Delilah’s draw towards each other.

The only thing that pulled me out of the groove I was in was the OTT drama at the very end. I was flying high. This book was absolutely amazing. The love and the relationship, Tuck - all of it was amazing. Sadly, it was a crazy, completely out of left field twist that knocked it down a peg or two for me. I was so bummed. So very bummed. All the feel good vibes you could ask for in this sweet, small town, big love romance - and I almost felt defeated. I walked away for a minute because I didn't appreciate that craziness, but that epilogue was the ultimate icing on the cake and was the soothing balm I needed. All was right in the world again....

Emma Renshaw literally gave me the most amazing man in Gunner. Not only was he down to earth, quite humbled, a little troubled, and a momma's boy - but he was a good man with a solid heart of gold. All man. I mean, writing this review is making me smile when I think about him. So Renshaw nailed the perfection that is Gunner. Giving him Delilah's heart and soul was a gift beyond imagination. They were the perfect couple and they meshed so well. It really was the background strength to the whole story. I loved them and Tuck so SO much.

Make no mistake, I will be following this series and am excited to see where IGNITE takes me. She paved the way for all of these characters to have their own story, so I am really looking forward to checking out Ridge's story next.

Gunner left his hometown after an accident and now is back to help his mom. He meets Delilah and her son. A very sweet romance with a crazy family member thrown in. A little angst and drama is had in the process, but true love wins. Loved all the side peeps and hope they all get their own HEAs.

Spoilers ahead

At his high school graduation party a simple bonfire led to Gunner being injured and his best friend and others dying. After his recovery, heartbroken and feeling guilty Gunner left town and never looked back.....until his mom asks him to come home.

Delilah is a chef at her parents inn and single parent to her son Tuck. Seeing his favorite baseball player is a guest at his family's inn has Tuck very excited..... And the sexy baseball player has Delilah more interested than she ever expected to be, but Delilah has held a secret from her son for years that's about to come to light.

***********
I've got one major problem.....the secret took too damn long to be exposed. Delilah wasn't Tuck's biological mother and I felt from the moment her addict cousin returned hoping to see him she should've confessed, instead it's dragged out till the bitter end doing nothing more than annoying me for how long it took. I mean burying your head in the sand wasn't going to solve anything so what was the damn point?
Aside from that and the rather rushed addition of another bad guy this was an ok read. The relationship didn't quite flow smoothly but it was pretty easy and angst free until the author chose to drop in the typical foolish separation in the late half. They definitely needed more interactions and passion between them though.
I liked Tuck and his interactions with all the adults in his life, the highlight of the book for me.
The premise of the series is interesting and I actually cried at the beginning of this one.I may return to read other stories in the series, for now I'll count this one as a win(ish).

No cheating

My thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for a free ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Gunner can't forget the horrible night his friend, Declan, lost his life while saving his. They both had such promising futures ahead of them, but death cut short so many young lives on that night of the beach side bonfire. Ten years later, Gunner is forced to return when his mother is faced with her own life and death battle.

Delilah is the only mother that eight year old Tucker has ever known. Delilah, Tucker and Gunner share some time at her parents' Inn, where Delilah is the head chef. But the past rears its ugly head in the shape of Shayla, Tucker's drug addict mother, and a long-held vendetta from that tragic bonfire accident.

There were quite a few suspenseful moments in this story. Poor Delilah suffers concussion not once, but twice! Gunner even proves his love for Delilah by running into a burning building, facing one of his worst fears - a burning fire.

This was a very well-written, engrossing story. I'm rating this one a 3.7 out of 5.

Delilah and Gunner had some really bad cards thrown their way throughout the book but with their love and determination, they had each other's back and soldiered through.

Their romance was sweet and their characters were solid.

3.5 stars!

I saw Leonor’s review so had to read it.

Heroine is a single mother to 8 year old Tuck. He isn’t her biological son, but her addict cousin, Shayla’s who disappeared soon after the birth.
Hero is a professional baseball player. He’s returned to his hometown after 10 yrs since an incident killed his best friend. He’s looking after his mother who has been diagnosed with cancer. He’s a good guy, notices her right away. There’s no crazy couple drama for the sake of it.
I felt sorry for Tuck never getting to experience a relationship with Shayla, she seemed to be turning the corner. I would’ve liked to have seen how he handled navigating the two relationships.
Slightly lower rating because I would’ve liked more passion between them as a couple. More banter. Irrespective of caring for a child or his mother bonding them.
And also the ending with the “bad guy” felt a little clownish, and not needed to the extent that it went.
Safety: no information on either of their pasts other than general lines of having dated. Exclusive from when they meet.

When Gunner comes home to be there for his mother during her medical fight, the last thing he expects is to meet a single mom and her son and fall in love them. He's a professional baseball player that knows better than to start a relationship, especially one that has a definite expiration date. Plus there's someone out there that doesn't want them together, and they'll have to fight like hell to figure out who and to stop them if they want a chance at happiness.

I like this somewhat suspenseful romance. Both Gunner and Delilah are wonderful characters and have amazing chemistry. I appreciated that Gunner wasn't portrayed as the typical manwhore athlete, and Delilah wasn't over the top or meek, she was just a mom who loved her son with all her heart. I know Ridge and Zoe's story is next, Ignite, and I can't wait!

Get your tissues ready because this is Emma Renshaw at her best! In each and every story of Emma’s you feel her passion shine through, you feel it in every page, every character and it makes you fall into this world seamlessly. Ember encompassed everything I love in a romance story, and one I’m sure I won’t soon forget. It was the perfect story to be able to escape to a world of baseball, romance and second chances at a life you never knew you needed.

Gunner has been barely living for years. He knows how to smile at all the right times and be one of the best centerfielders in the league, but the few that know him best knows he quit living ten years earlier, when he lost his best friend Declan in an accident that would forever change his life. While Gunner begrudgingly comes back into a town he hoped to never see again he soon finds it hard to leave.

Delilah’s life changed forever when she suddenly has a little boy dropped in her arms. She instantly became the best mother to Tucker eight years ago, and while she wouldn’t change it for the world she occasionally questions if she’s missing something. But with an overbearing brother, being a single mother and helping to run an Inn, dating is usually a disaster. Suddenly, Tuckers favorite baseball star is staying at her family’s inn and that easy smile on her face and flush on her checks makes her question things she hasn’t in years. Especially when this baseball star, with shadows in his eyes, is throwing ball with her son and making all of his dreams come true.

Ember will take your breath away, give you chills and have you captured from the very beginning! This small town is full of secrets, and this amazing story is one that you’ll never want to leave!

Oh my, I devoured this book I one go. (Thanks Lockdown, lol)

Gunner Gentry had his whole life in front of him. Him and his best friend, Declan was going pro baseball and life was good. But then an accident happened. Now years later Gunner is a famous baseball player living it up. But now he has to go home. He hasn't been home since he left for baseball, but his mother needs him.
Then he meets Delilah and her son Tucker. He never thought anything would come before baseball but now it seems he has found something else he wants to live for.

Delilah is a chef at her parents Inn. Her life is good. Her son and coming keeps her busy. But now someone is threatening to take her son and on top of that she thinks she has met the man of her dreams ans❤️ But does she have the time for Gunner or will this threat take away her happily ever after😳

This was a good story. It had love, romance, angst, suspense and so much more. Gunner was just too cute, especially how he wanted to take care of his mother of Delilah and her son. Always protecting them. Delilah was a mama bear taking care of her young ad she wasn't going to let anything or anyone stand in her way. I hope we get more stories in this line. Especially Mackenna's story❤️😉

4 1/2 "fiery" stars!

Ember had a little bit of everything. It was a little sports romance, single parent, struggling after loss and more. Emma Renshaw blended it all perfectly. It never felt jumbled or messy. Everything just flowed and I was definitely there for it.

Delilah is a chef and single mom raising cute and adorable Tucker (aka Tuck). She's a strong woman who prioritizes her son above everything else and makes no bones about it. I really liked her. Gunner is the professional baseball player who recently came back to town because his mother is sick. He hasn't been back for years and has a lot of "baggage" and haunting memories tied to Hawk Valley. He's focused on being there for his mom and is holding out little hope for anything more until he meets Delilah. Even though it isn't love at first sight, they definitely have "attraction at first sight." They start with friendship and it gradually evolves into more. Delilah isn't really looking for a relationship and assumes that Gunner is only "passing through" town so she doesn't want to set herself or Tucker up for that type of heartbreak. Also, she has other issues to deal with that have her extremely stressed out. It makes starting a romantic relationship more than a little challenging....

I enjoyed the storyline and really connected with both of the main characters. They were "real" and their emotions felt sincere, not manufactured. I would say this book was running as a strong 4 stars for me until towards the end when it popped up to a 4 1/2 star read. Yep...I liked the conclusion. It was clever, in my opinion. Also, I'm a fan of a good epilogue and Ms. Renshaw delivered a great one. I'm eagerly looking forward to the next book in this series. I also can't wait to read some of Ms. Renshaw's backlist as well.

Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

WOW!
I knew from reading the blurb that something happened that affected an entire town... so I figured I should expect some emotion!
I DID NOT EXPECT THIS!!!
I didn't expect to fall in love with these characters. But Emma Renshaw had me gasping with shock in the prologue snagged my heart and cracked it all in the prologue. The further I read the more in love I fell with this little town and the broken ones who roam it, the more my heart hurt for these characters that lived with so much pain.

However, she didn't stop there...in this book she took one of those broken hearts and healed it in the best way possible. His path of healing and the lessons of self forgiveness were heartbreaking, powerful and beautiful! I adored Delilah and her son Tucker from the beginning and the way that Gunner just fit so seamlessly with them was beyond perfect. Someone didn't want them to have that perfect little life though.....

For about 2/3 of the book I never saw the twist coming. Matter of fact I was on a WHOLE DIFFERENT planet. I suspected it but wasn't too sure on my suspicions so when it came to light I was still shocked! I really enjoyed the love story but also loved the little suspense that the author added to this one!

I won't lie...number one word in that blurb that had me buying this one was BASEBALL. I can't help it...baseball romances are my kryptonite! I could fill an entire bookshelf with all the baseball romances I've read and loved!

The way this series is written is that you can read any or all of the books. Each book is a different couple and the plot for each book surrounds one heartbreaking night that affects each character in some way. So you can read any of the books without the others but I really recommend reading the entire series to get the full effect of the entire crew.

Ember is a heartfelt romance set in a small town of Hawk Valley, Texas. This story follows the return of a pro baseball player to his hometown and a single mom slash chef who works at a family's inn where he's staying. This is a sweet emotional story if you like the instant connection with little drama to the relationship between the characters. It has suspense to enrich the story further. However, I don't really connect with the plot and found it a bit convenient to my liking. I was expecting a more in-depth background into the characters' feelings and thoughts and was really hoping that it will drive the story more, but it doesn't.

The thing about small-town romance is that it's usually a very light and sweet or emotional and heartbreaking. This one sort of fell in the middle, I like the balance between the two tones and I think that's why it's very easy to follow and enjoy. As far as plotting goes, towards the end especially, it was decent at best. I don't like it that much, but I also don't hate it. There were some things that happened that came out of nowhere and I was momentarily confused. I like the suspenseful bit the author threw in there, I was not expecting it and I think it piqued my curiosity a bit towards the end.

I did like the romantic parts, the hero and heroine had undeniable chemistry and they are very cute together. It's one of those rare moments in life where I wish I had that sort of relationship. Overall, I gave this a 3.5 stars. I would recommend reading it if you like sweet small-town romances. I'm really looking forward to the next book!

3.5 stars. I liked the overall premise of this story. Gunner Gentry is a pro baseball player and now he's returned to Hawk Valley after 1o years for his mom. Delilah Moreland works at the inn where Gunner is staying and she's also the chef. Gunner only has time for baseball and his mom whereas Delilah is busy with work and her son. So while it wasn't the plan to fall to find a relationship, their chemistry was almost immediate and difficult to ignore. Gunner is burdened by guilt from the past and it continues to haunt him, but he's ready to face it head on now that he's back. Delilah is also dealing with something that could upset her family life and she's not about to go down without a fight. I appreciated that there wasn't a lot of drama between them, but it seemed too easy, like no angst or tension, especially given that Gunner is a pro athlete. He is definitely very down to earth and not egotistical. Delilah herself has a good head on her shoulders and is very caring and responsible. Since there wasn't any turmoil whatsoever in the development of their relationship, most of it was external, from whatever their issues were that they were battling and deciding to share with one another as they let the other in to their personal circle. So while this was good and fine and all, I could accept the non-tumultuous dynamic for what it was but then towards the end, a suspense-like element was thrown in out of left field and that just felt misplaced and even random. The writing was mostly fluid, but there were a few times I had to cycle back and re-read the paragraphs carefully again because the scene didn't transition well from one location to another or when a person entered the room or whatever and was suddenly joining the conversation. All in all, the characters were likable and there's a whole cast of others who have interesting stories to tell in the future.

This was my first book by Emma Renshaw and I really enjoyed it! This is a wonderful second chance/sports romance. It’s a second chance for Gunner to return home and face his demons and help his mom get through a difficult time not realizing that he will find romance in his old hometown. Gunner is a hottie pro baseball player and Delilah is a badass chef. Delilah is a strong woman in her own right who is raising her adorable son, Tucker. This book has a few twists that I didn’t expect when I first started it. And it deals with quite a few issues like addiction, depression. It kept me very interested in the plot and in the characters! I’m looking forward to read more books in the series. Next up is Ridge...I absolutely can’t wait for Colt’s story!

I love a great small-town Texas romance and Ember hit it out of the park for me.

It's always tough when your favorite author starts a new series, especially when you were so in love with the characters from the last series but Delilah and Gunner and especially Tucker grabbed me from the first page. I can not wait for the next book in this series.

This book is full of heartbreak, but Emma has a way of mending your heartache and taking you on an adventure with all kinds of twists and turns, healing you in the last stretch.

If you haven't read Emma before, Ember is a great jumping-off point!

WOW…from the ugly cry prologue, to the suspenseful, romantic and intense middle, to the HEA epilogue...I loved every minute of Ember, written by author Emma Renshaw!

I loved the characters, the storyline, and the smooth flow of this book! There were several characters in this story, but they all had their perfect place in it. The main characters, Gunner (an MLB player), Delilah (a single mom and chef/cook for her parents’ restaurant/bed & breakfast), and Tucker (Delilah’s 8 year old boy), were so well-written! This was a kind of a slow “burn” storyline, with several outlying factors, characters, and events. There was some sexual “heat” in this. I really, really liked this book of love and loss! 4.5 burning embers from me! I cannot wait to read the next book in the series!

This was an intense read. I felt a lot of emotions while reading this. Gunner comes home to find out his mother is sick. While helping her he meets Delilah and her son Tucker. Unfortunately she has her own issues to deal with. Luckily together they are able to get through everything and get their happy ending.

Beautiful, emotional, heartwarming, sexy. I could go on and on with so many different ways to try to describe what Emma Renshaw delivers in Ember and it would never be enough to do this book justice. You simply have to pick it up and read it to feel first hand the magnificence of this book. I’ve loved each and every book from this author but Ember puts her on a whole new level. What’s a step uo from autobuy? Obsessed stalker who tries to read over her shoulder just to get some of those high quality hits of words?
Delilah and Gunner are one seriously swoony couple. Aside from some seriously powerful instant chemistry they have an emotional connection I can’t even begin to explain that really, REALLY made me fall in love with them together.

WOW!

This was one sweet read I enjoyed since first page! It's one of those good books that will leave you smiling. I knew from the synopsis that this book was going to be fabulous, and I can tell you that I was not disappointed, starting with the cover... Fire... I love this author's words and as usual, she delivered an amazing story.
I can honestly say this hero stole my heart!!! And Delilah was the kind of heroine I love to read about. Tuck was my favorite character, this kid was so sweet!
A great start for a new series, can't wait to read the next stories.

I will start by saying I absolutely loved this book. I loved the characters and the emotions that they made you feel. Starting with the epilogue, you had raw emotion going through your whole body. Every character was unique in how they dealt with pain and loss but beautifully came together as a family to process the pain. While reading the story from the beginning I was cheering on Gunner and Delilah. I loved how they helped each other through the pain of life’s twists and turns. Emma has a beautiful gift of writing that will make you feel as though you are a part of the story. I felt butterflies the way Gunner would talk and look at Delilah, my heart skipped a beat the way he loved Tuck right away, and the way he loved his mom was just beautiful. This book will have you crying, swooning, and laughing throughout. If you are looking for a beautiful love story, then this is a must-read!

Ember by Emma Renshaw is a stand-alone sports romance/suspense.

Meet Gunner. He's a pro-baseball player, on top of his world and back in his hometown after he's been away many years . He carries scars, visible and invisisble.

Delilah works as chef at her family's inn and raises her nephew as her son.

Ember is a fast paced story, high on drama, suspense anbd romance. The writing is fantastic, just like the storyline. I loved reading the characters story from the first meet cute til the last page I was glued to the pages. I read the book in one sitting, I simply couldn't put it down.
And I can't wait to read the next book, Ignite.

This book is amazing. It has everything that makes for a great love story but at the same time add elements of real life struggles. The real life struggles in the book will pull at your heart strings. Delilah is in a situation that can be relatable to a lot of people and the fact that Gunner is amazing about it makes your heart warm. There are struggles in this book that leave your heart needing stitches. Those stitches mend your heart by the end of the book.
Everything that Emma writes has a part of her souls in it. You can tell that writing is her passion. Her passion for writing is noticeable with the journey her characters go on. I’m not a fan of spoilers because I like everyone to experience the book for themselves and make their own opinions but if you’ve never read anything by Emma, this book will make you want to read everything she has written.

Wow!!! This story was so good. I couldn't put it down once I started reading. The characters in the story are just so wonderful and genuine. I think I fell in love with them all!

The story had a lot of different things going on in it. It was definitely super heartbreaking at times and other time it had me laughing and/or smiling so much. I would recommend it.

Boring. Stopped at 51%. The hero is a nice, honorable man. Heroine is a nice, honored woman. But that’s it. No chemistry. No passion. Most chapters were about their separate lives. Small interaction between the mcs. I didn’t see the relationship being built. The fade to black kiss was around 40ish% and I read a few more chapters because I thought there was going to be more focus on them. Nope. Cut my losses. Slow burn is one thing, no burn at all is another thing. This book feels more like one of those feel good books. About forgiving yourself, faith etc.
Might be someone’s cuppa… not mine.

My heart hurts for Gunner, grief is one of the most difficult things to overcome. It takes a lot of strength to return to your home town after tragedy. When Gunner returns to his home town the last thing he expects is to meet the girl of his dreams. I liked that this was not an instalove. Delilah and Gunners relationship evolved organically, it was true and deep. They help each other through some difficult times. The storyline was great and I loved the twist at the end. Really a great book .
