Marie Higgins has written a wonderful first book in Runaway Mail-Order Bride series.
This is a sweet , mail order bride, of sorts, story written by Marie Higgins. She has done a great job with the plot and the characters too. Denton was an attorney turned bounty hunter. Courtney was a wealthy young woman and her parents had arranged a marriage to a much older, very wealthy man. Courtney was not happy about this arrangement. She discovered her fiancé murdered and all of his children, all wealthy in their own right, older than she, and disliked by all of them. She realizes instantly that she will be accused of the murder, so she decides to runaway. Will Denton hunt her down or will her plan to disappear as a mail order bride save her neck from a noose? You will enjoy discovering how they find their happily ever after.
Courtney has no choice but to run...from her future, from her past and from the set up she now finds herself in. No one will believe her...will they? Fortunately Denton is a seasoned investigator and lets the evidence speak rather than guessing, assuming or listening to gossip. He can see the set up immediately...but who is the guilty party? And will he be able to find Courtney and keep her safe from dangers and an overeager Sheriff whilst also investigating? Both Courtney and Denton are surprised with the ease they work together, they have a chemistry that jumps from the page as they don disguises and follow leads to uncover surprising evidence. A great read on Kindle Unlimited, I look forward to reading the rest of the series.
This is book 1 in this exciting new series. Runaway brides by Marie Higgins.
Marie is a very experienced auhor and it shows in her books. I find good first books, set the standard for the next in the series.
The book is creatively written, its embroidered together delightfully. The storyline is engaging and the characters are wonderful described, with the flaws and imperfections. The scenery descriptions are razor edge sharp, and help bring the book to life. This book really is a wonderful read, and a delight to review.
Marie writes wonderful authors introduction blurbs. Please do read it if you want more information before buying the book.
Like most, if not all, of Marie Higgins heroines, Courtney Mills doesn’t stand back and wring her hands in dangerous situations. Falsely accused of killring her much older fiancé, Albert Greenwood, she runs to a nearby town. Following her closely is Denton Reed, bounty hunter hired by Terrance Greenwood to find and arrest Courtney for the murder of his father. Terrance fails to catch Denton’s promise, to find the person who killed Albert, not necessarily to arrest Miss Mills. This book has all the hallmarks of a Higgins story, compelling story line, interesting characters, mystery, romance and a happily ever after. Good start to a new series.
This is Book #1 in a new series, and the author has given us a story that is sweet and heartwarming and has great characters. This is Courtney and Denton's story and is full of action including: a dead fiance, an escaping bride-to-be, mystery, humor, a bounty hunter, and romance. Is a HEA in the future for the couple. Be sure to read this story to find out. I know you will enjoy it as much as I did.
This is book 1 of the Runaway Mail Order Bride series. This story of Courtney and Denton pulls you right in from page one until the end. A sweet story with great characters and twists and turns as we try to figure out who did it. A wonderful page turner that I really enjoyed! I received an advance copy of this book from the author, however, I voluntarily wrote an honest review. All opinions are strictly my own.
If you could see me, you’d see me smiling! A short and sweet story about a woman who found her fiancé dead in his study apparently hit over the head by a bust used as decoration. Immediately all she could think to do was run away as she knew she would be accused of the crime by her fiancé’s children. Well many twists and turns and comedy of errors later things worked out and Courtney got her a husband after all. Very entertaining read.
A sweet short story that gave the reader a mystery to solve. Fun characters that kept the story interesting and inviting. I loved trying to figure out who did the dastardly deed while also enjoying the clean romance. A great story that has action and keeps the reader on their toes! Was given a complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.
Liked the chemistry between them.....but for me it was to quick for them to fall in love...will recommend this to those who are interested in quick sweet historical romance....n it was nice to what a bounty hunter are before this I didn't know about them
Uplifting story with AA ton of adventure. Denton is a bounty hunter but his character reminds this reader of more like a Pinkerton agent, a real detective. Courtney is the runway bride, fingered for the murder of her betrothed but completely innocent. What follows in this storyline is a great murder mystery love story.
This is a very different type of mail order bride story. I found it very interesting and challenging in that, DENTON had to keep a very open mind,. to consider his friend in a bad light. The mail order bride is a very courageous heroine. It has made me anxious to read the other issues in the series. Well done!
This was a very well written book to read. It is about a. Murder of Courtney’s intended on her wedding day. She runs as she know the children will accuse her of it. Denton is a bounty Hunter friend of the family looks for Courtney to find her side. Did she do it or not. As the reader you do not find out till the end very good good .
Courtney is set for an arranged marriage that she wants no part of. When her intended turns up murdered she realizes his family will blame her so takes off. Denton Reed works in law enforcement and bounty hunting and finds himself hot on the trail of suspected murderer Courtney. Denton must find the person who murdered the father of his friend. This was a short historical romance with action.
This book would be a no for me. I feel like the author was just rambling half of the book and then some of the interactions riches absolutely ghastly the way the FMC supposedly crept around and then popped up to save the day completely unbelievable and I feel like all the characters were weird and whiny
I think this is going to be a fun new series. Courtney and Denton were great people brought together in a peculiar way. Definitely not how I'd wish to meet someone, but it worked out. There is mystery and twists like normal, but I enjoyed the moments when it was just Denton and Courtney best.
Ms. Higgins has done it again. Written another enjoyable story with just the right amount of suspense & an HEA. I enjoy her writing so much & am never disappointed in her books. I received an ARC. This is my voluntary opinion.
Suspense filled romance with Courtney and Denton. She is the runaway bride and Denton is the man she may end up with. There are several twists in this story that keeps you turning the pages and guesting how the story will end. Will Courtney and Denton find their HEA?
I was drawn into Denton's Bride from page one. This author creates very believable, likable characters. This book has a mystery as well as romance. There are several twists to keep the story entertaining. I think this will be a very successful series.
This story starts at a dead run. Monica realized it was time to leave, and Denton was hired to find a killer. Lots of suspense with several false leads with a surprise ending.
I really liked the characters and that there was honesty between the two main characters from the start. But the story was too short and murder solved too quick. Not enough development of the greedy children!
Really well written, A good storyline, romance, The characters are likeable and well developed. The writing that just flows naturally and gives you the feeling of actually being there
A great start to a new series. Once I read Maverick’s story, I was excited to see their story continue. Courtney is a runaway bride with her very own bounty Hunter.
