Those are the only things Stellan Abernathy cares about—being the tattooed auto mechanic by day and then the sultry saxophone player in a jazz band by night. But all that changes when a wide-eyed bartender captures his attention and refuses to let go. Now, instead of an audience, Stellan only wants to play for—and with—Foster.
Coming home, starting over, and getting back on his feet.
After a break-up that leaves Foster Morgan feeling more relieved than hurt, he returns home with an empty bank account and a new job. Getting his life back on track is his main priority, but fate has put pure temptation in his path. The only problem? Foster had never been with a man before. Now, he wants Stellan to change that.
Play with me is a high-heat, low-angst, bisexual awakening story filled with adult situations. It’s intended for an audience of eighteen years or older.
Play With Me by Brittany Cournoyer is a nice filler book. There wasn't a lot happening plot-wise; the writing was a little flowery, but I still enjoyed it; it was romantic. I can't blame Foster for giving in so easily to the tattooed God eagerly pursuing him. I mean, who wouldn't want a hot tattooed sax player to do the horizontal tango with?
3.5 Stars
**I have to say that this is one instance where I wish GoodReads had half stars.
Brittany Cournoyer’s latest release, Play With Me, is a steamy bisexual awakening romance that is low in angst and rich in emotional healing. Both Foster and Stellan have pasts that have left them scarred and hurting, but when they come together, all they can seem to think of is one another and how much they don’t want this thing between them to end. But both men secretly are certain it will—and both are determined to put on the brakes and try to keep from getting too emotionally tangled up in the other. Needless to say, that really doesn’t work for either of them.
This is both a coming out and a coming aware moment for Foster. It is a pivotal change in his life, one that isn’t exactly scary, but still pretty earthshaking to say the least.
This is the first book I've read by this author. I really enjoyed the strong sexual chemistry the heroes felt for one another and really loved watching them from a deep bond together. There is little angst in this story but it has plenty of sizzling sex shared between two men who were clearly meant to be together. On a side note: the man on the cover fits Stellen's description very well. Like the cover model, Stellen is a truly beautiful and sensual man. The cover art is gorgeous. Whew!!
I only bought this book for cover😋😋.....but it was so good...amazing story....beautiful...cute....no excess drama....definitely more reads from this author ....
Play With Me was exactly what I needed. Little to no angst, adorable story and main characters. There wasn't much going on plot wise. I would've liked to get to know the characters more, if I had to point something out. I felt like I was missing that.
If you are looking for a sweet, low-angst romance with lots of fun sexy scenes and no unnecessary drama, you’re going to enjoy this book. I loved the characters, especially the Sax Man!
Foster's never been into men before but one glimpse of the gorgeous tattooed god up there playing the sax at his newest job, and he's hooked. Stellan's a little not so much shy, but hesitant because he's been burned by a "straight" ex before and does not want to go through the same experience again. But something about the sweetness of Foster calls to him and before long, they're more than a little smitten with each other.
Will Foster stick around for good or will he have problems being public with a man the way Stellan's ex did? What about both their exes? When they seem to be interested in second chances, both men will have to decide if they're willing to give them one or not.
This is a really sweet, low on angst story with two lovable leads who have an insane amount of chemistry. I am definitely now looking forward to much more from this author.
Yes, the cover was my downfall. This was a nice read. Nothing special though. If you're looking for something light and heartwarming, I highly recommend this book. Stellan and Foster are very sympathetic characters. This was quick and beautiful. It's well written, fluffy and with a simple plot.
3.5 ⭐. This book had such potential. I love the cover as it is one of my favorite male models. The characters were likable, has an immediate connection, and it was low angst, but I felt I did not get to know them. I don't even know where this book took place geographically. The book definitely needs more editing. There were so many typos.
Too stupid to be read. I confess to being shallow and going for the cover here, but even the low-angst reviews did not prepare me for the lack of substance in this book. Also, way too many grammar and spelling errors and general negligence. "Your welcome"!!!
Play With Me is an enjoyable bi-sexual awakening romance by Brittany Cournoyer. The cover grabbed me and the storyline kept me reading.
First, I need to say the cover model perfectly depicts the long haired, tattooed, saxophone player Stellan.
As for the storyline, I always enjoy a good bisexual awakening story, and this one is just that, as Foster instantly takes a liking to the hot band member Stellan. Having never been attracted to men before, he's surprised, but can't deny the immediate spark between the two. If you're looking for angst over one's sexuality though, move on, as Foster has an easy time with accepting his new attraction to a man.
What follows is a sweet story, as Stellan goes out of his way to be generous to the new bartender. Stellan is sex on legs, with his sexual way of playing the sax, and his hot as sin mechanic look, which the cover model depicts perfectly. I love how he deals with Foster and eases Foster's way into his new life.
Written in alternating 1st person pov, both men come to life, with their feelings on full display. The storyline is a light, easy read that includes plenty of spicy moments. There are plenty of lovable secondary characters included as well.
Play With Me is a light, fluffy read that perfectly fills the desires I look for in such a book. Brittany Cournoyer won't disappoint with this tale that combines sweetness and sexiness. Definitely try this one the next time you're looking for a low angst, first bisexual times romance.
I loved this story! Yet again, since it was my second time reading it. And I absolutely enjoyed the minimal drama in the story. Yes, I do enjoy drama and angsty books as well, but from time to time it's so nice to read a story that just flows easily and without much angst yet not being boring or tepid. The attraction and chemistry between both MCs was spot on and the sex scenes were steamy and not overly repetitive as it often happen in other books. I fell for Stellan, who wouldn't? Tall, hazel eyes, beard, long hair, plenty of ink, piercings and a musician, not to mention sexy, kind, possessive and growly? Fuck yes 🤤🤤🤤 It had several grammar and spelling mistakes though, the editors need to do a better job.
I don't usually write reviews, but this one was good enough I decided to break my mold. Brittany did an excellent job not only with the story but also the sex scenes. I enjoyed it from the moment I began reading until I finished it. Great Job Brittany!
I fell in love with this as soon as Stellan started to play his saxophone! Foster is rebuilding his life after separating from his ex, though it's not something he's broken up about. His new job is at a local jazz bar and there he meets Stellan. Stellan is enjoying his life as a mechanic by day and finally playing in a band with his saxophone. He definitely doesn't think about his last relationship and why/how it ended. These two have an insane amount of chemistry for the first time they lock eyes across the bar but Foster is wary as he's never been attracted to another man before. Things move at a good pace with Stellan always aware and checking in with Foster, ensuring they are doing what he wants. I love the story and the relationship that unfolds. Brittany has done amazingly well with writing scenes that include musicians playing. Just reading the book, I could hear the music as the sax was played. Definitely something that could be included if the author has this made into audio. I love the band members, quite nosy about each others lives but so supportive and respective of boundaries that they set for each other. I hope that we get to hear more from them in the future. Cannot recommend this enough. I loved how Stellan and Foster come together as they each have their insecurities but just work so well together. The heat between them jumps from the page and their developing feelings keep you turning the pages. I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.
For starters, let me gush about the perfection that is the cover of Play With Me. If there was ever a book that I requested to review because of its cover, it's this one. The model is Stellan personified and everything about it draws me in. Then the blurb, which was both enticing and intriguing and actually lived to my expectations. And to top it off, the solid writing and characterizations, which is always a plus.
I loved Foster, he was such a sweet man. He was very innocent at first, but it was lovely to see him gain confidence as he felt more secure in his relationship with Stellan. And Stellan, well, he was sex on legs and I really liked him, although there were a couple of scenes in which I would've liked to slap some sense into him, especially one after he met his ex. Their chemistry was out of this world and I just loved them together, though.
This book is GFY or rather bi-awakening, but it's very well done. Stellan made sure to take his time with Foster, so he was certain this was what he wanted, and Foster, despite never having been with a man, just couldn't deny his connection to Stellan from the moment they met, even if he wasn't sure what it meant. I was really intrigued about the rest of Stellan's bandmates, so I hope there'll be more in this 'verse eventually. Very recommendable!

Foster Morgan is working at a local bar after splitting from his ex-girlfriend on fairly bad terms—she wanted him to fight for her after telling him of an affair she is engaged in and he had little desire to do so. In fact, if Foster is honest with himself he hasn’t felt much of anything for her for quite some time. So now he’s starting over, learning bartending and trying to save his pennies to move into a better apartment than the lousy one he is currently in. The bar often has live jazz music and it’s on one such night that Foster hears an incredible sax solo being performed by the sexiest man he has ever laid eyes on. Admitting he is drawn to the guy is nothing new—he has admired handsome guys before but the tingly feeling he gets deep inside and the jump in his libido while watching him is something entirely different. How can he be attracted to a guy when he is straight?
Stellan Abernathy loves two things—playing his sax and working on cars. A mechanic by day and part of a jazz ensemble several night a week leaves him happy and satisfied. Then he sees the hot bartender at the new club he is playing and is drawn like a magnet to the guy. But bells start to go off when Foster admits he has never been with a man. Stellan has been burned before—badly—and taking a chance on another bi-curious straight guy should have him running for the hills. But there’s something about Foster that captivates him and keeps him anchored in place.
Brittany Cournoyer’s latest release, Play With Me, is a steamy bi-sexual awakening romance that is low in angst and rich in emotional healing. Both Foster and Stellan have pasts that have left them scarred and hurting but when they come together all they can seem to think of is one another and how much they don’t want this thing between them to end. This is both a coming out and a coming aware moment for Foster. It is a pivotal change in his life—one that isn’t exactly scary but still pretty earthshaking to say the least. Stellan could not be more aware of the need to take things slow and make sure that the time he spends with Foster is focused on his pleasure and not Stellan’s. While these two do indeed keep things on the slower side, the emotions ramp up pretty quickly. I wouldn’t exactly say this is an insta-love story but it comes close. It also dangles on the precipice of being a gay for you trope but just manages to come off more as a realization of bisexuality that always lurked in Foster’s mind but was never acted upon before now. Either way one sees it the chemistry between the two is undeniable and the healing they offer to each other is really quite lovely.
I think my only problem with this story is the way in which the author chose to introduce conflict between the two men—it is an identical problem for both and felt a bit contrived. I can’t say anymore or I will spoil the ending but I do wish that either they had different conflicts to deal with or just one of them was hit by the emotional whammy near the end of the novel. Still it did add a bit of drama to an otherwise angst-free relationship.
Play With Me is a beautiful love story and one I would recommend to anyone seeking a comforting but sexy romance.
Loved this romance! Stellan, a saxophone player and mechanic, meets Foster, who is bar tending, during one his gigs. Foster is coming off a breakup, and has not been with a man before, but feels instantly attracted to Stellan, who feels the same. I loved Stellan and Foster. Both great characters, and loved seeing them come together. Play With Me is low angst, the characters actually deal with their few issues quickly and realistically, and I loved every minute seeing their attraction build to love. Brittany Cournoyer rocks at bringing her characters to life, and brings the humor and passion that makes you really root for her characters.
A fantastic start to the book. The two MCs are attracted to each other right of at first sight, but only one is straight. Written with both POVs for this great book. A newly sexual awakening romance with little to no dramas. A great ending with a HEA. While this was a great story I was looking for something for a wow factor from similar stories. • Bi curious chemistry • musician and mechanic with a bartender • sexy scenes • low aghast Foster was a new bartender at a bar called Clancy's. Newly from splitting from his engagement and starting over in a new place and broke. Stellen was a sexy saxophone player in a band and also a mechanic.
I really enjoyed this so much. I loved reading about a musician that isn't a guitarist or drummer. I love that although this is a first time thing for Foster he has zero angst over it. He has the "huh what's happening" reaction but he dives head first and doesn't hesitate really. Stellan angsts over it more because of an ex, which...annoying but it wasn't a dealbreaker. He has one moment of jerkitude that is fixed pretty quickly so it's fine. I loved how the author wrote Stellan's relationship with his saxophone. I would love to read more to be honest.
Once they met you actually felt the heat they had for each other. Their world actually collied. Foster actually moved back to his home town after a breakup. While Stellan was guarding his heart after a breakup. They met at Foster's job where Stellan and his band was doing a gig. From the wording you could feel the heat from both. Just happy, they started dating and got their HEA
I ADORED this story immensely!! The two MC's were perfect. I loved Stellan and his loving, caring and nurturing way he was with Foster. And Foster, loved reading his character fall in love with a man for the first time! Definitely recommend!!!
“I had to remind myself it was just two guys meeting over coffee, but even the smallest win could feel like your greatest victory.” Cute story between the sexy, saxophone playing mechanic Stellan, and sweet bartender Foster.
Good enough if you’re looking for something sweet and angst free, and the bones were good and I think future books by this author might be wonderful. However, I did have some issues with it:
- oddly paced character development - very cheesy, cliched lines and plot - extremely unrealistic first time anal - drama for no reason
Play With Me was my first novel by Brittany Cournoyer and I really liked it. The story of Stellan and Foster was sweet, sexy and I liked it. It's well written and has low angst (which I love)
