At Zilly’s Chattel Farm, Alli is seen as an upstart Omega. But in reality, he is the victim of a brutal house-dad who wants to control him. Threatened with being institutionalized when he turns eighteen, Alli runs away.
Tarin is an Alpha who runs a small school from his own home for wayward Omegas. Three or four students at a time are all he can handle and his home is full. But when he meets Alli on the streets, he is compelled to bring him home.
Alli wants a better future for himself, better than selling himself on the streets, so he agrees to be a student, when what he really wants is Tarin himself. Tarin doesn’t sleep with his Omega students, and the one exception he made broke his heart.
But Alli is persistent. And not only does Tarin have a weakness for broken young men, there seems to be a spontaneous bond forming between them. The combination is turning hotter faster than they can keep up.
Non-shifter omegaverse, fated mates, age gap, virgin, knotting/bonding, high steam, HEA.

Out of the entire series, I enjoyed this installment the least, to the point I found myself skimming large sections of redundancy. I made it about 65% and had to pause- I'll finish it later. Because I never got to connect with Tarin or Allie, because of the obsessive levels of addiction they felt toward a character that I haven't even seen in the flesh on the pages. I mean, c'mon!
There was an overabundance of inner monologuing. Every POV shift, the same inner thoughts were rehashed. Every. Single. Chapter. I had just read those same thoughts, now they were being echoed again.
Tarin was going on and on about Kee, who was not his counterpart (Allie was) While I understand Kee is the next narrator in the series, Tarin truly had zero connection to Kee outside of his burn, so why was I subject to Tarin going on and on ad nauseam about Kee, as if I didn't just read it the chapter before and the one before that and the one before that. Other than popping in and out randomly to take advantage of Tarin, I have no idea why Tarin gave him any more thought than he would have any omega he used at a farm.
Kee was a larger presence in the novel than necessary, the largest presence actually, for someone who had zero connection to Tarin, didn't even seem to respect or like him. I had no idea why I had to listen to Tarin pining for someone he didn't love, respect, want, outside of having his burn attended, which is something he could have just paid for.
Tarin & Allie's novel was hijacked by someone who wasn't even on the pages, in hope to spark interest to read the next novel. Now I'm sick of seeing his name and I haven't even got to his story yet. It made zero sense why Tarin was so fixated on Kee, when the author didn't even give names to all the omegas that were in his day-to-day life that he helped succeed, people Tarin and Allie would come in contact with often.
It was the biggest enjoyment suck, as well as just padding and filler to add pages to the story, slowing the pacing and burying the true story beneath redundancy.
I got it. I got it already after the first time. But it was like fifty times, Kee in Tarin and Allie's thought, as well as their housemates, as if Kee was a major factor in their lives, when he wasn't. It was to an obsessive degree. Now, after not getting to connect with Tarin or Allie, I'm sick of Kee already and I haven't even had the chance to see/hear him.
The actual story would have been condensed down to a novella or shot, because their angst and journey wasn't involved enough to support novel-length page-count, if the redundancy was removed. Tarin wanted to help omegas so badly (excuse me if he actually comes across in the ending) but why didn't he contact the owner (who was a past narrator) or contact the warden to advocate against the "dad" who was assaulting the "children" That would have helped countless versus just the ones in his household. Just saying. Altruist or not, that made the most logical sense. That would have made a good story- let Kee tell his own story. We only needed a few comments here or there to connect to the character for later. Pine. Pine. Pine. For a character he didn't love, want, respect, need- a character that wasn't even his mate, which lessened the connection the reader was supposed to feel between the mated pair. Made no sense.
Tarin is seeking his beloved omega Kee. Kee never returned any calls or messages. Instead of finding Kee, Tarin is followed by an omega with a delicious scent. Alli escaped the horrible environments he lived in, living on the streets, hungry, dirty. When a delicious smell from an alpha enters his nose he only wants to be near. Maybe offer himself.
Tarin always takes care of omega’s in need, his house has already three omega. He takes Alli home and let him stay in Kee’s room. Could this just eighteen-year omega be his mate or is it just his alpha Burn that’s calling. Where is Kee?
A sweet, captivatingly written story. I loved it dearly. A shy, delicate omega and a much older alpha. Scents, heavy yearning, and longing with excellently written passionate scenes made this, for me, a quite satisfying awesome read.
Wendy is quickly evening one of my favorite authors. Alli ran away from the omega farm because his house dad was abussive and He saw him rape another boy in tbe house. That’s where he meets Alpha Tarin, who takes in runaway or just omegas in need and helps them get their life together. They are bout instantly drawn to each other but Tarin fights the pull because not only is he hung up on another omega but he also doesn’t want to take advantage. They are fated and Tarin cannot fight it. This is the first I e read in this series and and on yo more.
Just FYI, the only reason this book got three stars instead of four is that there is a non-detailed rape scene that occurred, and I was very angry that the perpetrator did not get punished and neither the event or the boy involved were mentioned again. Also, this was after Zilly's got inherited by a man who was trying to take better care of the omegas, so that did not make sense either. Allie should have saved him too.
I've eagerly awaited the release of this book and was not disappointed
In a previous Misfits story, I'd read about how an Alpha and Chattel born Omega were instrumental at getting changes made to the Chattel farm for the better. So to hear of the terrible things that the Omega MC had experienced and caused him to run away from the farm - out of the frying pan into the fire. He ended up in the worse part of town - a place lone young Omegas go to - end up to survive the only way they know how, in particular the farm raised & trained to do only one thing.
An older Alpha - experienced yet still naive in some ways. Always on the look out for promising Omegas in distress - in need of shelter, education / training, and guardianship (since Omegas aren't allowed to manage their own money). He sought to be their benefactors. He believed in his mission / quest to rescue Omegas. But things rarely work out the way we plan. He had to learn the hard way that he couldn't save everyone. One Omega in particular taught him his very harsh lessons.
Then one day an Omega followed him from the Trenches. Half starved, dehydrated, wanting...Something he could not, would not give. Both so afraid Steps so tentative. The memory of another clouding everything. But there was something undeniable, intangible, intoxicating. A fairy tale - a dream existence. Frustrations. Denials. Insecurities. Old memories. A future that seemed impossible. A bond forming despite all efforts to the contrary.
This as were the others books in the series a great tale in an unique Omegaverse. With some overlapping characters. But mostly strong, courageous, determined Omegas and the Alphas that fall in love with them. Each willing to risk so much to be together.
Omega Chattel, the fifth book in The Omega Misfits series, is a delightful omegaverse read.
This is a wonderful read, as Alli escapes the omega chattel and is searching for safety outside. Meeting Tarin sets his life off on a new path.
Alli's past is well established, with the pain and suffering he saw and experienced. Tarin's past is also well explored, as he is a savior who likes to help omegas who need his help.
This one is a little different than the typical fated mates read. This isn't that instant "My Fated Mate!" moment. Rather, the smell of one another is part of what attracts them. But, these two connect when Tarin helps Alli, and eventually they realize they're fated mates. It's definitely a more realistic take on the aspect, despite nothing being realistic about Omegaverse stories. 🤣
There's plenty of emotion, as Tarin has been "in love" with a different omega. But, damn, these two are meant to be and are great together. Their story has a lot of heat once they make a move.
I continue to enjoy the author's writing style. Written in alternating 1st person pov, the reader follows the main characters feelings and motivations throughout. The world building continues to be an important part of this series, and the author does a great job with adding to this world each book.
Omega Chattel is an enjoyable read. This whole Wendy Rathbone series is definitely recommended to any fans of non-shifter omegaverse romances.
Fated mates aren't real. So why are you so attracted to each others scents?
I love this series, where Alphas have Burns & omegas don't have heats. The Alpha/ omega dynamic is intense. This book is non- stop erotic action. The heat level is off the charts! Oh, you are gonna love this book! Alli has lived his entire life on a chattel farm, being groomed to take his place in the mating sheds, helping Alphas through their burns. But an abusive house- father threatens him once too often. So he flees. But life on the Trenches isn't easy. Until he scents someone wonderful. Tarin is looking for a boy who has been gone too long. He doesn't expect to scent the boy following him. Tarin takes in omegas he thinks are redeemable, setting them up for real careers. But this omega calls to him in ways he thought were long gone. Come. Join Alli and Tarin on their journey to HEA. They will have to overcome self- doubt, self- imposed rules, & an early onset Burn. The sex is a long time coming, but once it gets going, it never stops. Keep your fan handy. This book contains adult themes and language, mm sex and is intended for mature readers only.
Alli, sweet and innocent, young and naive, is growing up in a horrible place. His house dad is a monster that I truly hope gets what he deserves soon. When Alli made the decision to escape that horrible situation, even though he had no where safe to go, it was still the best decision he could have made. Where Alli ended up after he ran was a nightmare, but it lead him to Tarin. Now, Tarin was a bit rough in the beginning, and the obsession with Kee was annoying, and made me sad for Alli. These two had an instant connection, but with how young and inexperienced Alli was, mixed with Tarin being closed off and hung up on Kee, neither realized the obvious fated mates bond. Tarin was a good alpha, one that didn't see omegas as these lowly beings who couldn't think for themselves. He brought omegas in, gave them a chance for a better life, so he really was a kind man. I just wished he would have noticed how the Kee situation was hurting Alli. Once they finally acknowledged what was clearly happening between them, things heated up, and continued heating up. There was a little drama towards the end, but then things went from heating up to blazing hot. I can definitely see myself reading this book again.
Omega Alli was at Zilly's Chattel Farm and is seen as an upstart but is actually being threatened by a brutal house dad. The last straw is when he is then threatened with being institutionalised when he turns eighteen in a few days he gathers what he can and runs away. Alpha engineer Tarin runs a very small school from his own home for wayward Omegas with only three or four residents at a time. When he meets Alli on the streets even though his house is full he brings him home. Alli agrees to be a student as that is better than selling himself on the streets but he really just wants Tarin himself. However, Tarin doesn't sleep with his students and the one exception he made in the past broke his heart. As a spontaneous bond forms between the two men Alli is determined to have his way.
I enjoyed this story with the brutal house dad, Alli's escape and meeting Tarin and their instant attraction. I loved the way that Tarin's former lover came back to tell him to be happy with Alli and that finally, the two mates gave in to the mate bond that was inevitable between them. I loved the way it ended and the view into the future. Easy to read, feel and understand. This is an MM story with mature content set in the Omegaverse with knotting and mpreg.
This enjoyable, very unique omegaverse is a well-written age-gap MM romance & it is definitely worth reading. It does have some heart-wrenching moments, as it highlights the challenges faced by the omegas under the rules & regulations of an alpha-driven society. The plot was interesting & easy to read with good scene descriptions & world building. The main characters are portrayed as emotionally flawed due to circumstances beyond their control & I particular liked how they gradually drew closer & help each other to heal. There is: a brutal house-father (Grey) determined to control a young male omega (Alli) decides to threaten him naturally Alli decides to run away & later comes into contact with caring alpha (Tarin), a omega farm/brothel (Zillys), fated mates, drama, some twists, intrigue, adventure, danger, threats, devastating memories, desperation, trust issues, apprehension, fear, strange attractions, determination, bonding, self-esteem issues, doubts, jealousy, misunderstandings, surprises, contentment, love, steamy scenes & a satisfying conclusion.
Wow, I loved Alli and Tarin in the latest book in this Alpha/omega dystopian series. Alli is being groomed to service alphas during their burns (like an alpha version of the omega heat) when a cruel house-father causes him to run away. This series has a unique and engaging world view where alphas control everything and omegas are (at best) 2nd or 3rd class citizens. Then Alli meets Tarin. The chemistry between them is immediate and hot, though Tarin tries to resist it because he is helping Alli who has become his student. But you can't fight fate, and the two can't help but draw toward each other. It's hot, sweet, and thoroughly enjoyable.
I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.
Fate was definitely on their side when Alli and Tarin find each other just days after running away from the abusive chattel farm where he was living. Tarin is a wonderful character who takes in omegas and helps them build a future for themselves. Alli is a very sweet omega who feels the mate pull towards Tarin right from the start. It is wonderful watching Alli and Tarin come together slowly over the course of the story except for Tarin's obsession with Kee, I feel there was a point where Tarin treated Alli very unfairly because of Kee. Luckily, Alli is very understanding and is able to move beyond that. They really are a wonderful couple and I was very glad for their HEA. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
I've really been enjoying this series, but this one missed the mark for me. I can definitely go for age gap romances, but this... eh. The way Tarin held back from Alli was... explained, but not emotionally satisfying. And while I can also really enjoy a power imbalance romance, this one felt almost insulting toward Alli. In short, I just didn't buy their love. The attraction/bond? Sure. But as far as actual romance it really rubbed me wrong.
And unfortunately for me, that's also made me feel kind of negatively toward Kee and any interest I've got in him finding his happily ever after, lol. I'm still going to read his book, though, so here's me crossing my fingers that it reels me back in. 🤣
This is another enjoyable book in The Omega Misfits world. In this story, Alli is an abused omega who escapes from a chattel farm just before his 18th birthday and likely institutionalization. After three days on the streets, hungry and miserable, he scents an alpha who he follows.
Tarin knows an omega is following him, one who smells so good. Tarin is grieving the loss of a former omega boyfriend, but he also mentors and shelters a few omegas in his home, so he invites Alli to stay in a room in his home. Later, as they spend time in proximity, it appears that a weak bond is forming. Tarin still has confused feelings for the other lost omega. Still, when fated mates meet, a destiny manifests. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.
I was a bit afraid this story might have too much of a teacher/student vibe for me to be comfortable, but I need not have worried. This story of Alli and Tarin was just as amazing as all the previous entries in this series. The fate of the omegas continues to be heartbreaking but the decency of some members of the society gives us hope in this dark world. The heat level is way up there again when these two guys finally admit their feelings and I cannot wait for the next and what appears to be the concluding volume in the series. This is a dark, dystopian world I find it hard to shake and will not forget.
I am really enjoying this series this much! Wendy always finds a way to take a bad situation and find an HEA. Tarin is not your stereotypical Alpha. He actually cares about Omegas and wants them to be more than a Burn hole. He wants them to be educated and ssuccessful. He only has room for so many in his home Alli is not only in need of a place in Tarin's home, but in Tarin's life. As a recent runaway from his horrid life at the chattel, he encounters Tarin on the streets and instantly feels a connection. Fight it as he may, Tarin feels it too, initially resisting even taking Alli under his wing. Lucky for Alli ( and us), he does. A good friends to lovers, age gap love story.
What a perfect story. I instantly fell in love with Alli. What a beautiful character. Soft hearted, beautiful inside and determined. Tarin was very guarded, it took me longer to get on his side. I'm sooo happy he came around. This was a wonderful getaway. I needed THIS story. It left me feeling good inside and smiling. I love this series. Every addition just continues to get better and better. I'm really looking forward to Book #6. Thank You for sharing these characters with us. Bravo!!! I HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK AND THIS ENCHANTING SERIES!!!!!!
Alli is an Omega who runs away after being abused by a house dad. Tarin is an Alpha who runs a school for wayward Omegas. Tarin takes him in. Omegas are treated as second class citizens who are only good for an Alphas burn. All Alli really wants is Tarin and he is persistent! There is chemistry between Alli and Tarin. This was a really good, steamy story, lots of feels good emotions. I am voluntarily leaving a review form an advanced copy that I received. My reviews are solely based on my thoughts and opinions.
Alli escapes from the horrific chattel farm he ha been in after too much ill treatment. He wanders through town and runs into Tarin who at first is very rude and presumptuous towards him. Tarin has a saviour complex and helps omegas in need by giving them a leg up in the world, he doesn't take to Alli at first because he is harbouring feelings for Kee but over time realises Alli is more than just a simple omega. After things get cleared up the heat is off the chain but it is tempered by jealousy. Great world building and continued storylines.
This book 5 on this series is another amazing story of an omega fighting to get a life worth living, full of freedom to love and be whoever they want to be while finding true love with his special alpha. This one got me crying and sighing throughout the whole story. Again Mr Rathbone show us her expertise in world building when created this dystopian world. I can't wait to read more stories on it. Simply... WOW!
Alli ran away from the farm and found himself on the streets selling his body. He was lucky to find a kind Alpha, who helped omegas in need. Tarin is a different kind of Alpha, he is not affected by the omegas he helps. But Alli makes his way into the Alphas heart. I loved Alli’s innocence but also his determination. Tarin was a sweetheart, a pot full of goodness. They were made for each other, but Kee is in their way. Great story!
I just love this series. The relationship between fated mates is the focus of this book. The two main characters are, as usual in this series, wounded and come together to heal each other. Wendy Rathbone is one of my favorite m/m writers and this book just continues one of her best series.
Full of such desperate longing! The wish to be special for someone, the acquired knowledge that "If it's too good to be true, it isn't real," the slow realization that the one they desire might not want them back, the excruciating fear that what could be can't be. Profound emotions described in depth, beyond the also very steamy moments. Definitely a beautiful addition to the series.
Unable to take the abuse he saw by his house father at Zillys, our fresh faced omega Alli runs away... and into the arms of our Alpha Tarin . Taking takes in Omegas who want more for themselves and don't have an Alpha to support them. But is that what Alli wants or us just what Tarin thinks he needs... Deep down all Alli wants us to be an Omega, a vessel for an Alpha's desires and beeds...
When something feels right... even if you have to step out of your comfort zone and fight for it... don't give up... sometimes the reward is worth the fight!
As always... dark, dark situations that can be a problem for some...
If you're into age gap, fated mates, and unworldly virgins this is the story for you. The story was well written, this trope just isn't my favorite. Looking forward to Kee's story.
This was a interesting twist on the relationship of a teacher and student. Loved Alli and felt bad for his life. Was in wonder of Tarin and how big his heart is. After a long uphill battle they have there HEA loved this book and the series.
This was a good way to change up the series but it didn't really gel for me and I had a really hard time liking either of the characters or rooting for their relationship. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't for me.
