I want to get a dog and have been trying to find the right breed for me. In the past (as a child) I've always had mutts or random dogs from the pound or a friend who's dog was visited by a random neighbor dog. While several of these were fine pets, as a child I was fearful of most of them--since they were poorly trained--and only really loved three of the dogs in my lifetime. Two that protected me when I was a toddler and one I had as a teenager/ adult. I am a fairly active person (running, biking, etc), and think this was a good book for helping highlight the good and bad traits of this breed. I am now settled on either the Weimaraner, which this book was very informative about, and a German Pinscher, which the relative book to this was is about. The author did a good job promoting the dog and giving adequate information to potential owners. I'd recommend it (and the other breed specific books with this cover) to anyone considering the Weimaraner. All that's left is actually meeting some dogs and talking with breeders to get some specific lingering questions out of the way.
