I'm a self-taught knitter, so any book that proclaims I'll be able to do more than just a knit stitch by the end of the book is one I'm going to try.
I actually found a lot of this extremely helpful. The images of the different stitches were great: it's easier to see if you're doing something right when you have something to compare it to, after all. Additionally, there were a few tips and tricks in there about picking up dropped stitches and when you have to frog part of a project that I'll definitely be taking!
The projects look simple enough, but alas, as this is a library book, I don't have enough time to try out all of the projects.

So, I can knit now, but I’m honestly not sure how much to credit this book.
I still could not figure out even the basic things (like casting on) from this book alone. I had to go look at videos on YouTube to understand what the heck I was supposed to be doing. I also did not make most of the projects in this book because I don’t want to spend a bunch of time and yarn making things I don’t actually want, like makeup wipes or a tablet cover or baby shoes or a mug cozy or wrist warmers. And I only made one scarf.
But it did get me to finally really TRY to figure out knitting, so there’s that? And the projects I did make turned out fairly decent.
I purchased this from Lidl last year during craft week. It’s a very informative book that is perfect for the beginner or for someone who hasn’t picked up knitting in a while as a refresher. Alongside the hints and tips section there are some patterns inside to try out your new skills! Everything from scarves, hats, fingerless gloves, tablet cases, cushions and mug cosies (perfect for this time of year). The yarn selections aren’t too expensive which is great!
