Balance and heal your mind, body, and soul by tapping into the connections between your chakras and your diet.
Chakras, Food, and You is a revolutionary approach that customizes health assessments based on the chakras―the ancient system that modern-day yogis exalt and the ancients across all cultures and periods embraced as the secret to enlightenment. After first taking the Chakra Type Quiz within the pages, you will learn which foods and supplements, exercises, and movements mesh to enable your individual body's peak performance. Then, you'll be equipped to make eating and lifestyle choices that synchronize with your real self.
If you’re a First Chakra Manifestor, you’ll boost your adrenals by eating plenty of protein and taking extra minerals; you’ll eat when you are hungry and drive down stress by moving around. If you are a Third Chakra Thinker, you have to graze at set times. All twelve chakras―Manifestor, Creator, Thinker, Relator, Communicator, Visualizer, Spiritualist, Mystic, Harmonizer, Naturalist, Commander, as well as a twelfth special chakra, unique to each individual―are thoroughly covered.
With additional tips and thoughts on meditation and spiritual practices, sleep protocols, stress-busters and relaxation practices, and self-care rituals and activities, Cyndi Dale and Dana Childs's Chakras, Food, and You is an accessible and straightforward health-and-life changer.
This was a different read for me, but I wanted to venture out into a new topic that interests me.
I was given an ARC for an honest review.
Let’s talk about writing style - this book was all over the place. I couldn’t really get into the head of the narrative voice. At some points it tried too hard to be suave and cool, and it just didn’t go with the tone of the book.
THE first few chapters were hard to get through because it seemed like multiple introductions without getting nowhere. I wish there was more background and theories given. They kept talking about “shame” and how that turns into fat. Okay .... what do you mean by shame ? How do I get rid of that ? I definitely felt like I walked in half way through a conversation.
If you are new to this type of topic , this is definitely not the book for you.
THE quiz was easy and straightforward. And the chapter breakdowns were pretty structured.
As to THE personalized help ? It was pretty obvious, and I don’t think it connected to chakras at all but just good dieting and excercising.
I think I expected something a little more ethereal with more insight into my body and the energy that affects eating habits and weight.
Pretty quick read though so just for that I’d recommend. Might learn something new.
It was interesting and the chakra quiz was spot on. It's funny because the food recommended for my main chakra is basically what I've been doing and what feels the best for me. Even my blood type diet tells me I should be eating that way. It makes sense for me to eat this way because not only is my body feeling its best but it'll allow my chakras to also be open so it's a holistic approach for me.
This book was pretty informative. It dived into detailed info on each of the main Chakras, not just the main seven but also included five others that I hadn't heard of before. The information went from metaphysical, dietary, and some science thrown in. I won't be re-reading this book as a whole instead as a reference to look back on all my highlighted sections and on the specific Chakras that need attention at the time.
Chakra work has always interested me and as someone who needs to eat healthier this book drew me in.
Although, it sometimes got a bit wordy for my taste the book is SO full of great information on chakras and includes a quiz to help identify the strongest and weakest chakras. This quiz, while lengthy, was so beneficial to my understanding my strongest chakra and what I could do to get my mind and body into a healthier state. I also had not heard of 12 chakras before this book (only seven). I loved that it gives you a clear layout of what to eat or skip or eat sparingly for your Chakra type. It honestly made a lot of sense with what I end up craving and going to for quick foods on the go vs what my body truly needs.
This book is not about losing weight but about getting healthy. Definitely recommend!
Great book for people who have been drawn to Chakras. This book discusses each Chakra type and gives suggestions on food, supplements, and movement that will benefit you the reader based on the Chakra you align with. There is a short quiz that helps you figure out your Chakra type. I aligned with 3 equal but only found I really related to two of them after further reading. I will definitely be taking a few of these suggestions to heart.
I received this book as a Goodreads Giveaway. My weight varies up 40, down 40 and COVID quarantine did not help so I am intrigued by the title. I have taken the test and ended up with two food plans totally contraindicated to each other. Time for me to reread and not skim over the parts I probably missed. So will see how it comes out with a re read. I like the concept of the book and will how round 2 goes.
4.5 stars. Am I into chakras? Not necessarily. But this was such a fun and easy read! The book explains what chakras are and the differences between them. You take a quiz to determine which chakra aligns with you the most and then read the corresponding chapter on your chakra. It gives a summary of personality traits as well as specific food and lifestyle recommendations. Would definitely recommend this one to others, it’s fun to see what chakra you get and what they recommend!
I never knew anything about chakras so this really was an interesting read for me. I enjoyed the explanations, the advice, the entirety of the experience. Definitely would recommend this book for others to check out! #netgalley #chakrasfoodandyou
As a certified Spiritual Life and Health Coach that is also a Reiki Master and Chakra Alignment Specialist I loved it! My plan is to slowly work up to the perfect food plan for my 5th/8th Chakra with a close 7th and very close chakra coming in 3rd the 3rd chakra, how appropriate.
This is a very interesting book. I tested highly with two but the description for "Thinker" fit me best. The book talks about having a total of 12 chakras. I wasn't able to keep meditating to reach my 12th, but I will keep working on it.

Loved this book. I know quite a bit about chakras but never really explored how food and nutrition related to each one. Great info for anyone on a health journey or already healthy!
Regardless of what you think about chakras, this book gives some good nutrients advice and wellness tips. I liked the affirmations and changing negative thoughts and traits to positive ones. The chakra test is basically a personality test based on what drives you/where you get your energy. One or two might be dominant, might have most equal, or a mix of dom/non-dominant traits. Each trait has its own chapter identifying nutritional, emotional, and physical needs and advice for well-being. Most of the advice is very similar and based on sound research I’ve read in scientific nutrition books and advice by my doctors. The organ where the chakra is centered leads to tips offer. For example, the thinkers chakra is aligned with the pancreas so diets with high fat and protein (like paleo and keto) are not recommended as they over work the pancreas. So if that wasn’t your dominant chakra, but you have pancreatic/digestive issues, that advice might aid you. Most every chakra represented recommends lean proteins, brown carbs, low sugar, Mediterranean type diet. The exercise recommended varies a little but seems more based on social and psychological needs.
The authors give some good advice to the well-being of the whole self. Whichever chakra you choose or chooses you will lead to healthy tips. There are also anecdotal case studies included. If your wanting to learn more about chakras in general or as a spiritual nature, you won’t find it here.
Thank you to St. Martin’s Press and Goodreads Giveaways for my ARC.

Chakras, Food and You: Tap Your Individual Engergy System for Health, Healing, and Harmonious Weight. By Dana Childs and Cyndi Dale. 2021. St. Martin’s Essentials (ARC ebook).
I already had some basic understanding of chakras, but overall I liked the book as it helped as a review but I did not know which ones applied best to me and I also did not know anything about the chakras that are not 1-7; the Mystic, Harmonizer, Naturalist and Commander. There is repetitive material as each there are trends that tend to cover most or all of the chakras. And perhaps it would do better for that information to be set aside as a separate category, but it is probably best that it is present in each section for those seeking to read only the chakra(s) they tested for. Overall this well be a nice refresher for some and easy to follow and comprehend for those who are discovering chakras. The cover is great.
This is an awesome read! I couldn't put it down. Chakras are energy centers that can trap trauma inside them and we can heal ourselves by just knowing how to release. This was another book I loved reading during yoga teacher training. I love the worksheets!
