Flora, an orphaned Native American girl with bite to her bark and an undying love for flowers, has never understood the appeal of love. Love, to her, means nothing more than tending to her gardens—or being with her only friend and soulmate, Cecilia.
Though after years of aiding one another while living at their orphanage, it isn’t until the girls are thrust into a life of work and debt after a misfortunate occurrence that Flora finds Cecilia beginning to resent her, leaving Flora burdened to make amends...
Hopeful to leave behind her orphanage roots in pursue of her dreams of owning her very own flower shop, and mend things with Cecilia for good, Flora begins her new life working at Virginia’s most beloved garden shop, Holloway Gardens. It is there that she and Cecilia come to meet Jory and Keith Holloway; one brother a domineering pretentious know-it-all and the other a blunt but cordial boy with a grim past.
When a harrowing secret surfaces of Keith Holloway's connection to a girl's suicide inside one of the greenhouses, Flora finds herself drawn to him despite herself, and soon not only comes face to face with all of her fears, her feelings towards a boy she insists she hates, and her most delicate feelings towards Cecilia… but with the possibility of gaining all she’s ever dreamed of.
If only she allows herself to be burned for the sake of it.

Wow. I don’t know where to begin, but this story gripped me! I did my best to take it slow so I could give it the attention it deserves. This was very character driven and the development was done so well. The prose was very lovely and it kept me lost in their world. I want to go visit some gardens now! Looking forward to future novels 💞
