This article is one of the first that I wrote once I became a professor. It is unpublished. Although I submitted it for publication., the reviewers and the journal editor rejected it outright. As you will see, it has a lot of good ideas and reflects my training with Donald T. Campbell, one of the most eminent scial scientists of the 20th century. I address ideas such as the importance of multiple methods, qualitative thinking underlies all science, providing research that practitioners can use, the imporance of understanding clients' experiences and perspectives, and the need for clarity about what happens between service users and service providers. The importance of understand context is yet another idea. Among other things, it lacks a purpose statement. I wanted to show the importance of case study research to social work practice.
