Recently widowed and the new owner of The Pearl, Lady Reagan Ferry is upholding the mystique and debauchery of the hotel. When a client runs up a sizable bill, Reagan’s solution is to fetch Lord Arthur Godwick to reconcile his brother’s debt and exact revenge on his family. For Arthur, he accepts Reagan’s proposal and they discover more than they expected.

“I think you’re a collared dove. The collar’s already a part of you, born on you.”

Drawing inspiration from female artists, the storyline unfolds with narratives from paintings combined with eroticism, fantasy, and mystery. As Reagan and Arthur begin to delve into the dynamic of their relationship, each begins to reveal more about their influences and the past.

“Enough was enough. Too much was perfect.”

What I enjoyed the most about this book is how the storyline was entwined with fine art. I also liked Arthur and what he valued. Of course, Arthur’s need to please Reagan was the sugar on top. Though I was hoping for some more exploration, the pearl scenes were steamy. Lastly, the moxie of a secondary character thoroughly enriched the story.

The Pearl is an erotic romance infused with mysterious elements that would appeal to those looking for a unique tale of finding a connection.

Lord Malcolm is up to his shenanigans again. Bless his deviant soul.

Reisz is basically and auto-read author for me so I didn't read the blurb. Historically, this has been a rather dicey mode de vie but in this case it worked out fine. Actually, early on I had some break-through jazz hands when Arthur's secret desires were revealed.

My fondness for a big un alpha sub is probably logged into every algorithm known to man and maybe some unknown lurking out there on the interwebs. So in short, The Pearl felt a bit like Le Gift in the beginning.

It's told in 3 parts, the first being from Arthur's, the second from Regan's and the third from both. Reisz is highly skilled at developing characters and Arthur and Regan are no exceptions; the problem is I didn't care for Regan.

The martyr trope can work for me sometimes especially if I like the character but the most I could muster up for Regan was empathy.

On top of that I didn't feel their connection. I was actually surprised by this since Reisz has usually has had an uncanny ability with a few well crafted sentences woven her spell and made me invest in and even root for some real doozies for couples; furthermore, has made me love and sometimes even obsess over some dubious characters.

The sex is certainly creative, mildly kinky but in an opinion that will surprise exactly no one, I was hoping for more pain. What can I say? #TeamPain4-evs

Though my experience with The Pearl is middling (somewhere between 3-3.5 ⭐️) that won't stop me from reading the next in the line of The Godwicks series if there is another one or whatever else she writes.

As always, my opinions are my own and YMMV.

Delicious! Kinky delicious. Miss Reisz once again the queen of kinky. I read the first book in this series, The Red. I got really hook after that.

The Pearl took set on modern history. It is not historical romance. I do love Arthur. He is kind, loyal and submissive. He is HOT! His chemistry with Reagan is just.... explosive and kinky. I admire Miss Reisz ability to write such sexy, hot kinky sex.

The story is also not disappointment. It mix romance and paranormal a bit. And the paranormal part heightened the chemistru between Arthur and Reagan.

Super sexy.

Content Notes:

I enjoyed the two previous books in the series, but THE PEARL unfortunately didn’t work for me due to one main reason. Toward the end, we discover that and that revelation was a hard nope for me. It’s just not what I like to read in romance, and that’s okay because we all have different red lines re: preferences. If it doesn’t faze you, then you still might like this book.

Lord Arthur Godwick would do anything for his family. When his brother got into a mess he couldn’t escape from, Arthur saved him by making an unconventional deal with Lady Regan Ferry, the owner of The Pearl. But what is supposed to be a simple exchange, might uncover things within them that neither of them expected.

The Godwicks are back, and this time around it’s the first son’s turn. I liked how Arthur was very responsible for his age but still bratty enough to make him interesting. Regan’s philosophy in life might sound sad, but I liked how she took matters into her own hands.

“I like that you like being treated like a whore.” She held him in her hand a little firmer. “Even if you won’t admit it.”

Story-wise, this one was mild in terms of both plot and eroticism compared to the previous books. I also felt the characters needed more chemistry. My favorite aspect of the book is the characters' sexual dynamic and of course, the “pearl scenes”.

The Pearl is a story of sexual rediscovery. It would appeal to readers looking for an Erotica with Paranormal elements with art world influence.

Bookalzheimer me obviously can't remember everything that happened in the first two books. BUT, we don't really need to remember. Some things will come back to us while reading The Pearl. But this is a complete standalone.
Arthur is the 21 year old son of the art-loving Godwicks. He's been summoned to The Pearl Hotel in London to rescue his brother. Arthur thinks he might have to pay for prostitutes or some destroyed furniture. And yes, little brother owes 100k - but the boss lady doesn't want money. She wants ten days of Arthur. Whenever and wherever - and however she says.

Let the fun times begin!

Well. Not sure what to say. I love Tiffany's books. Her writing, her weird taboo storylines. But this time, I wasn't a fan of this dominant older women with a younger man thing. It's all totally perfect if it's Nora in the Original Sinners series - nothing could ever be written in that series that I would hate. But I kinda hated it a bit here. Arthur is only 21 and she's 30. That's totally acceptable. Arthur is a very mature, old soul. But I didn't like the slave-ish, tying him up, feeding him et cetera kind of thing. BUT - I also kind of loved the story. Arthur and Regan are both very interesting characters. The first part of the book is told in Arthur's POV and we just love him. He's adorable. He loves his family and his brother and he's a bit insecure about himself and his sexuality and life in general. And then this supposedly strong woman comes along and tells him what to do - and he loves it. And he hates that he loves it.

I really enjoyed reading this book. It was hella erotic - obviously. And a bit mysterious and paranormal or whatever you want to call it - the whole 'series' is like that.

I liked it. I think Tiffany could write the phone book and I would devour it!

Even though I kinda hated the relationship a bit in the beginning, I grew to love them as a couple. I really enjoyed reading this in the end. I even googled all the artwork!

I can't wait to get more from this world!

Erotic, sweet, mysterious, scary, full of art, family history ... and lots of pearls 😉. This is a really great series! A bit different - but totally worth it. READ IT!

I have to put a few little 'trigger warnings' in a spoiler thingy

Should I read in order?
I picked this one up alone and found it perfectly readable as a stand alone. I’m not sure how much character depth happens, if any, in prior books.

Basic plot:
Arthur’s brother has racked up a massive debt at The Pearl, an exclusive hotel with brothel ‘room service’. His brother has given a very important family painting to take care of the debt, which Arthur finds absolutely unacceptable. The owner, Regan, says he can work off the debt by spending 10 nights in her bed instead.

Give this a try if you want:
- art – they sexually re-enact various paintings and I thought that was fun
- some light Dom/sub kink with the heroine being the Dominant, hero is submissive
- High steam – plenty of scenes and variety (nothing vanilla here!)
- A touch of paranormal mystery, but most of the focus is on the couple, especially Regan
- Older heroine, younger hero
- Childless HEA
- Heir to an Earldom hero, widowed hotel owner heroine – both characters are rich and powerful in their own rights

Ages:
- Heroine is 30, hero is 21

My thoughts:
I found this one very interesting! I don’t usually try books like this, that are this erotic and have a submissive hero. I actually thought this one was historical when I picked it up (that’s what I get for hardly ever reading the synopsis!) but in many ways it still had a historical feel – so much of the storyline takes place at a hotel that is quite old and has a lot of history to it. The hero is the eldest son from an aristocratic family. It was just enough that I wasn’t super jarred as I sometimes can feel when reading contemporary.

Anyway, very much about the sex journey here, and Regan recovering from her abuse of her prior marriage and hurt from her loss of her family. I thought the writing was wonderful. The sex was engaging, although I’ll admit a few parts got a bit too ‘mechanical’ for me and didn’t quite have the emotional pull I love. But some of them did, especially towards the end when they truly started embracing their feelings for each other.

Arthur being a submissive was rather a delicious change for me. I am so used to reading all of my hero’s as very alpha and domineering, but I rather loved Arthur’s character and he loved to please Regan and was quite gentle.

Regan’s character is a touch darker, but so heartbreaking. I really felt for her and ended up really loving how she was taking back her confidence and control of her life.

This probably isn’t one I would reread, but I am happy to have given it a try. It was memorable and touching. And YES it has an HEA. I think the tension was broken a bit for me because there was so much sex right off the bat (I need some layering/building for it to have really great tension for me.)

Thanks to Netgalley and 8th Circle Press for an egalley in exchange for an honest review.

Last night I took a page out of the self-care handbook and relaxed with a hot bath, candles and this delightful erotica. When Lord Arther Godwick is summoned to the home of Lady Regan Ferry over the antics of his irresponsible brother, the handsome aristocrat soon finds himself locked in a sexual contract with a widow bent on revenge.

Although the water-cooled, the electricity between Arthur and Reagan was 100% passionate and the story was so darn interesting that I was never bored. Yes, I do get bored with erotica but Tiffany Reisz wrote such intriguing characters that I grew to love her two main characters very much. Now I shall keep on the lookout for more titles from this author.

No one writes erotica like Tiffany Reisz and her newest offering is an absolute treat. We return to the sensually decadent world of the Godwicks with a superbly written tale of two people who, in order to settle a family debt, enter an arrangement that is meant to remain purely sexual in nature, but who end up discovering sides of themselves in each other's arms they never knew were there. With the perfect balance of titillating sex scenes, engaging dialogue, and heart-warming pathos, books like these are the reason I adore reading Romance.

Drop everything! The Godwicks are back!!!!

description

With each book I am growing more and more fond of this art-loving family. I want the stories about its members and its members to keep coming. ;) What a shame Mona and Spencer didn't have more children. More kids would've meant more books...

After meeting Mona, Malcolm, and Spencer in the scorching hot The Red, and Lia and August in the mythical The Rose, we get Arthur and Regan and another hot art-filled story.

The love story of Arthur and Regan starts with a debt incurred in a true Godwick fashion. To settle that debt, get his brother out of trouble and retrieve the piece of artwork with the greatest significance and value to his family, Arthur agrees to a very Godwick-like trade: sex for the painting and debt wiped clean. Of course, it wasn't as simple as that. They would both get more than they bargained for.

Arthur wasn't quite like his family. He loved them, but thought they were frivolous. He rebelled by not being rude. He was the sweet perfect angel of the family about to join the army. As much as I loved and enjoyed the frivolities of his other family members, reading about Arthur made me melt into a puddle of goo.

description

Arthur had a submissive streak that Regan explored and enhanced. That streak went along the lines of a knight serving and protecting his lady. It was beautiful.

Regan, who asked for sex to settle a debt, was more Godwick-like than Arthur Godwick. With an air of mystery and sadness surrounding her, she gave an impression of someone holding herself hostage in a life once imposed on her by her late husband. She was a lady in dire need of a knight to serve and protect her and save her from herself. She was quite mean to Arthur, always poking at his secrets and posing the most personal questions she could think of. I'm always a fan of that.

Regan and Arthur's deal was ten nights, but it didn't take nearly as long for it to become more than a deal. Arthur was the first to admit his feelings. Regan took some time. In the meantime, she denied them, pushed Arthur away. Arthur took it in stride. Every revelation that could tear them apart, he took it in stride. He didn't waver. A knight never wavers.

The Pearl is the most emotional story in the series (so far). Regan was drowning in sadness and depression, and Arthur had his own issues to work through. On the brighter side, the erotic parts of this erotic fantasy were H. O. T. The fantasy part was more subdued compared to the previous two books. Of course, there was art involved, and this time it was by female artists.

Throughout the story, there was a certain presence of Malcolm. In the end, he did appear. While the novel is told from Arthur's and Regan's perspectives, one chapter was Malcolm's. It's left me hoping for another book starring number Thirteen.

To sum up, this is a novel with lots of hotness, emotions, art, twists, complex characters, family secrets, and pearls. It is no wonder I wanted the book to be longer. Much longer.

Lady Reagan Ferry as the owner of the Pearl hotel gets what she wants when she wants. When she came across the opportunity to land a very important art piece she didn’t hesitated. However; she never anticipated the cost she had to pay for that piece of art.

“You sold yourself to me to protect your brother. I sold myself to protect me. Everyone has their price, yes?”

Lord Arthur Godwick has lived all his life protecting his younger brother and when he gets a call to bail him out yet again he don’t even hesitate and will do anything to protect him. He however did not excepted to liked the sacrifice so much.

”He’d shown his face to a thousand friends. For the first time, that night with Regan, he’d shared some secret part of his souls with someone. With her.”

I really liked both Reagan and Arthur, I felt they were made for each other. However; I was somewhat a bit disappointed with some of the heated scenes. In a way I was expecting a full dominance and submissive type of story, but I still enjoyed the different type of love story the author delivered. I must say that my favorite character was Zoot! She was absolutely amazing and I freaking laughed so hard until the very last page.

Overall; The Pearl is a fun, romantic read with some erotic scenes. This book will be appealing to anyone looking for a mysterious yet sexy read.

I've come across many reviews that express how this book lacks the fantastical element that was so vividly entwined in the previous 2 books. I must disagree. In a sea of erotic romance where the women are younger, less experienced, and eager for a dominant partner, The Pearl breaks the mold. That is pretty fantastical to me. But that's Tiffany Reisz for you. Always pushing the envelope and breaking glass ceilings. That's why she's my fav ❤

So this is what you can expect:
21-year-old Arthur Godwick must pay off his careless brother's debt owed to our 30-year-old widowed heroine Reagan. As is expected in the Godwicks series, the debt will be fulfilled sexually. This is erotica afterall. Reagan knows what she wants and a submissive man will cover her costs quite nicely. What follows gains its inspiration from historical works of art, all from female artists. Are you seeing a trend here? I do and I loved it! Women for the win!!! But that does not mean our strong heroine lacks vulnerability. There are layers to these characters, showcased in the detailed storytelling Reisz excels at. Fantastical indeed! Check it out.

My favorite quote:
"You’re my bird now—my bird in my gilded cage. How does it feel, getting treated like your great-grandfather used to treat his whores? What else would you expect from a hundred-grand whore besides perfection? When you buy quality, you only cry once…"

Thank you to the following for permitting me access to an advance reader's copy (ARC) of The Pearl. This generosity did not impact my honesty when rating/reviewing.

Talk about high expectations!

I got nothing from this installment. No goosies, no feels, no hot flashes, no nothing. Just one big disappointment. Okay, I got one notable suggestion for using pearls (or any other beaded jewelry) but that's about it.

Alright, I didn’t love The Pearl as much as The Red and The Rose but it was still good! Tiffany Reisz is able to make a book atmospheric without spending really any time in these books creating atmosphere. It felt very, sexy + dark academia with the heroine being a know it all in art history and with paintings being what drives the sexual moments. I GEEKED! I loved it.
The situationship between Regan and Arthur is basically a business transaction and while I liked that, it was really hard to transition out of that and believe the romance once these supposed feelings were being discussed.
I will say there is a twist in this book that will gross some people out, probably be a HARD NOPE for some but you learn it so far into the book that you’re basically done when it comes out so I kept reading. I don’t know why it had to be in there but it’s there. I’ll just say, Regan and Arthur are closer than they think. Anyway, it was cool. Will definitely be reading more from Queen Reisz!

Hľadáte porno s ľahkým príbehom? Už nemusíte, našla som ho za vás a je ním Perla, teda tretí diel erotickej série The Godwicks.

Počas čítanie som mala opakovane pocit, že autorka napísala do vyhľadávača ,,bizarné porno” a potom tu scénu prepísala do knihy, pretože ináč si to vážne neviem vysvetliť.

Prečo to autorka spravila?

A certain beloved interfering lord is back with his shenanigans!

Lord Arthur Godwick, brother of Lia and son of Mona finally gets his own book in this steamy and romantic installment of The Godwicks series by Tiffany Reisz!

... After finding himself, yet again, cleaning up his little brother Charlie's latest mess, Lord Arthur Godwick is willing to sacrifice anything in order to save their family's most prized and very much stolen, painting that his brother sold to a hotel owner without the family's knowledge. Lady Regan Ferry, the mysterious owner of the hotel "The Pearl" refuses to accept money as payment. A lord who's willing to do anything to take back a stolen painting - an agreement was made. Ten nights of debauchery for a debt to pay.

This book is one of my most-anticipated books of 2020! And just like The Red and The Rose, this book proved just how I very much adore this art-connoisseur and ahem, indecent family.

While, the previous books were magical and steamy with it's transcendental sex scenes that will blow your mind, it made me appreciate Reisz's crafty and tastefully talent in writing erotica that made me love this series so much. However, this book was lacking something that the predecessors has. The chemistry between Arthur and Regan, our hero and heroine. Yikes!

It was a struggle for me to connect with Regan in the beginning. She came off cold and mean (and not in a cute enemies to lovers way!) Chemistry and the likeableness of the character are a huge factor for me, so to see Regan here not tick any of my boxes were a, sigh, a disappointment. However, she did redeemed herself later on when the author reveals the how and the why she is the way she was. I understood. That she's a complex character protecting herself and anyone - from the inevitable heartbreak she will cause, that she has gone through a lot, a woman in her own gilded cage that needed to be set free - and she did so, by herself!

Now, Lord Arthur... there are no words to explain how much I love and adore him! You can say he's the only proper Godwick that didn't indulge in the Godwick ways how, untrue that was, lol/ The Lord Malcolm genes definitely didn't skipped him! I have no complaints with his characterization! He's freaking perfect!!!

THE APPEAL OF ARTHUR/REGAN here is the domme/sub and may/december relationship factor. Arthur is 21 year-old aristocrat and Regan is a 30 year-old widow. Their chemistry maybe wasn't instant but it'll develop as the book continues. This book is very heavy on romance.

To wrap this up, this book isn't as good as the previous two in terms of the erotica department. Can say it's an equivalent of vanilla compared to its predecessors. It mainly focuses on romance and I can say that this is mainly a Regan-centric book, in my opinion.

“I’ve had to be cold for so long”, she said. “I don’t know if I can remember how to be warm.”

The Pearl by Tiffany Reisz is the third book in The Godwicks series, which is highly erotic, highly mystical, and artistically evocative. Whilst this book is part of a series it can absolutely be read as a standalone, however, every single book in this series has been superbly fabulous, so we highly recommend reading The Red and The Rose as well! It is no secret that Tiffany Reisz is one of our all-time favourite Authors. There really is something about her flawless writing, her sense of humour and quick liners. The banter, creativity and complex layered characters are second to none. Her books are compelling.

“You can try to hate me, hate us, all you want, but I know the truth. You hate yourself.”

In The Pearl, we meet Lord Arthur Godwick (the son of Mona from The Red) who, as an overprotective brother, offers to pay his brother’s debt to the owner of The Pearl Hotel, Lady Reagan Ferry. The debt is to be paid off in bed, which seems fitting, as The Pearl was formerly known as a brothel frequented by good old, Sir Malcolm Godwick. The connection between Reagan and Arthur was on fire! Her, being older in her early thirties and dominant, and him being in his early twenties and submissive to her demands. It was tantalisingly HOT! Tiffany Reisz, without question, writes the most amazing heroines, we have never come across one we did not fall utterly in love with. They truly are the most compelling, strong, funny, loving, sensual and endearingly vulnerable powerhouse characters. And my oh my Arthur, be still our hearts, what a wonderful man. A powerful man, who truly loved Reagan using his body and mind as her own personal playground of discovery and satisfaction.

“Why are you in a good mood? It’s annoying me,” she said.
“Why are you so cross? You’re the one who gets to fuck me tonight.”
“Are all the Godwicks like you?” she asked?
“Clever, charming? Desperately attractive?”
“Obnoxious? Sardonic? Insufferably arrogant?”

Fantasies are erotically brought to life in The Pearl through the medium of art, and it was both provocative and highly sensual. It was passionate, philosophical, and emotional as Reagan is on a journey of personal forgiveness, untangling invisible bonds and freeing herself from the past, her mind and life’s consequential restraints. Tiffany Reisz once again delivers a flawlessly written masterpiece that hits your heart with an overwhelming impact. We wanted more ‘afters’ from Reagan and Arthur, such was the comprehensive depths of their characters that we felt we knew them inside out hence we were left bereft when we had to leave them. But such is life when you are addicted to Tiffany Reisz, her stories and her characters. It can never be enough. Sophisticated intellectual erotica at its most magnificent!

‘With Arthur, a thousand years in his arms wouldn’t be enough.’

The Pearl is the third installment in The Godwicks Series, about 21-year old Lord Arthur Godwick, eldest son of Mona & Spencer.

Arthur has spends the majority of his time cleaning up after his younger brother, Charlie who enjoys life to the fullest. But now Charlie had managed to screwed up majorly, accumulating up a 100,000 pound bill at the Pearl Hotel. To settle his bill, Charlie brought a priceless family heirloom to the owner of the Pearl, 30-year old Lady Regan Ferry.

Trying to fix Charlie's mess, Arthur agrees to Regan's demand to spend 10 days with her to cater to her every sexual whim. He'll do anything to get back the painting of Lord Malcolm and he needs to do it in time before his parents discover Charlie messing up.
You’re my bird now—my bird in my gilded cage. How does it feel, getting treated like your great-grandfather used to treat his whores?

Little by little it is revealed that Regan is not a fan of the Godwicks, she abhors them and takes immensely pleasure in humiliating Arthur. But, appallingly and to his utter shock, Arthur finds that he likes what she does to him.

But than, their deliciously hot sex scenes become creepy when the ghost of Lord Malcolm Arthur Augustus Fitzroy, thirteenth Earl of Godwick, Arthur’s great-grandfather, makes an appearance.

Tiffany Reisz is an automatically one-click author for me. And I've again loved reading Arthur's story. TR knows how to write erotica, this being another prime example.

I wonder what's next.......

A tad more subdued than the first two installments, but no less delightfully salacious, The Pearl was yet another exceptionally written erotic tale from Reisz's wickedly brilliant imagination. This latest release in the Godwick saga (which technically is considered a stand-alone novel, but highly recommend experiencing the series in its entirety) centered around Lord Arthur and Lady Regan Ferry's blossoming May-December romance. From a revengeful, blackmailing bargain struck in secret to their unconventional relationship, this couple's lust-filled emotional journey fascinated and captivated me from the very first page.

Being a loving and dutiful older sibling, Arthur Godwick quickly intervened to help resolve a major problem caused by his irresponsible kid brother, Charlie. Apparently, baby bro racked up a 100K tab at Regan's hotel, The Pearl - aka London's most notorious brothel. To cover the debt, Charlie bartered a valuable piece of artwork treasured by their parents - a painting of their great grandfather, Lord Malcolm Godwick. To reclaim the priceless family heirloom, Arthur reluctantly offered himself to provide sexual services to Lady Ferry for ten days. A deal that weighed heavily on good-natured Artie's conscience.

The Godwicks we've encountered so far (i.e., Lord Malcolm, Mona, Spencer, Lia) were unashamedly bawdy, lascivious, and downright lewd. Arthur, on the other hand, seemed more reserved and low-key. Surrendering to Regan's demands made him uncomfortable; however, through their arrangement, we had the opportunity to see a very sexy yet submissive side to his character. I adored virtually everything about Arthur ~ his soft-spoken manner, his compassion, his patience, his immeasurable love for both his family and eventually Regan. He was a genuinely kindhearted and overly affectionate hero. Don't let that gentleness and submissive nature fool you, though. Arthur possessed a very sensual and extremely protective side, which made him completely irresistible.

Overall, I liked Regan. On the surface, she was a seemingly cold-hearted, stubborn, imperious, and demanding businesswoman. Running a whorehouse can be tough, and Regan certainly had a callous personality. Also, focusing on revenge against all the Godwicks for their past sins against her mother only added to her frigidity. But there was a very wounded and vulnerable side to Regan that, once discovered, transformed her from the heartless bitter woman. I loved how Arthur quickly realized the true Regan and tended to her every need. It took some doing, but he truly managed to bring out the softer side of this ornery madam.

The Pearl was an emotional and compelling love story, chock full of passion, secrets, witty banter, and some kink. Tiffany Reisz had me on edge, page after page, holding my breath with every plot twist and turn. Be warned, this is a taboo read, and though it is not typically my cup of tea, Reisz's remarkable writing style easily won me over. Also important to note the author's creative genius in using famous paintings as symbolism, incorporating their meaning, and weaving them into the story line.

Call me Pavlov's Dog or another psychological term to describe my undying adoration for Tiffany Reisz, but when a girl gets a newsletter that one of her favorite authors is releasing another novel, said girl also opens up her wallet with wild abandon in order to frantically type in her CC info. It's me.

There are few things I'm actually looking forward to when the nice, blustery summer nights segue into terrifying winter evenings starting at 4:30 p.m., but cozying up in my bed with The Pearl is a treat.

To sum it up: It was like drinking a warm sherry before bed. Lord Arthur Godwick is the responsible brother who offers to pay off his brother’s debts in the bed of the owner of The Pearl Hotel, Regan. Ten days of servitude, and in return, Regan will give Arthur a prized piece of Godwick art.

One of my favorite aspects of Reisz’s writing is how her worldbuilding can be so intimate so quickly. She oscillates between lighthearted laughter and crackling emotional intensity. It’s why I return to her again and again.

Although–I will say that if you’re here for historical accuracy, look another way! It’s not terribly obvious, and I really don’t mind (I am a big fan of anachronistic historical romances), but I feel some would appreciate the warning.

At the end of the day, the Godwicks series is sumptuous, but still light enough for an evening romp between the pages. It’s a sweet, delightful nightcap.

i picked this up because i was in the mood for something steamy. i didnt realise this was the third book in a series, but i had absolutely no problems understanding the story as it can be read as a standalone.

this story is the opposite of a slow burn. things begin so fast and i really enjoyed the quick pacing of it all. it made the story fun and entertaining, perfect for an afternoon read.

this is my first book by TR, but it definitely wont be by last. i need to pick up the other books in this godwicks series now!

thanks to 8th circle press for the copy!

Romance/Erotica : ⭐️⭐️⭐️

First: This cover is absolutely beautiful.
Second : I'm a sucker for an older woman/younger man trope
I enjoyed this read for what it was: a slightly cliché mostly predictable read. It was a dirty good time that I always enjoy when reading anything by Tiffany Reisz. There was a bit of what some people (like myself) would call a problematic storyline path that I think was unnecessary in the book since it didn't really do much for the plot.

Reviewed for Wit and Sin

The deliciously deviant Godwicks are back in The Pearl . Author Tiffany Reisz takes the eldest Godwick son and his lover on a journey of submission and self-discovery that is a fantastic mix of sizzling eroticism and honest emotion.

I adore Arthur. He loves his family, but he’s the black sheep of the Godwicks in that he’s not as frivolous (as he sees them) or insatiable as the rest (comparatively speaking – he’s still blazingly sensual). The twenty-one-year-old has an old soul and a maturity beyond his years. He’s preparing to start training as a Medical Support officer in the Army, but before that he has to get his youngest brother out of debt to the owner of The Pearl, Regan Ferry. When he agrees to work off Charlie’s debt in Regan’s bed, submitting to her every desire, it unlocks something in both of them. Arthur has kept his submissive desires a secret but with Regan he’s free to be himself. I loved that he desired to both protect and serve; he’s a dreamy mix of dependable hero and dirty sub.

Regan wasn’t born to wealth; she had to sell herself in marriage to an older, controlling man in exchange for the security she desperately desired. She made her choice, but sacrificed much to do so. She’s closed off even to herself at times, but I loved her as much as Arthur. She’s a young widow who has survived a horrible man and I wanted to see her find herself again. She resists falling for Arthur and her reasons are ones I will leave readers to discover.

Regan and Arthur’s journey is decadent and emotional. At the center of it all is art and Ms. Reisz’s knowledge and passion for the subject shines through as it does in all the Godwicks stories. This time it’s female artists who are the starting point for Regan and Arthur’s fantasies. And though The Pearl spends more time grounded in reality than the first two Godwicks books, that doesn’t mean the fantasy elements disappear. If you’re familiar with the Godwicks series then you won’t be surprised that the ghost of Arthur’s great-grandfather, the wickedest Godwick of them all, has a role to play in Arthur and Regan’s story. The interfering spirit is as unsubtle as ever and he’s a true delight.

The Pearl captivated me from beginning to end. Regan tugged on my heartstrings and was a heroine I was happy to root for. Arthur just plain melted my heart and I loved that he wore his on his sleeve. He and Regan made a fantastic couple and I cannot wait to enjoy their story again and again and again.

Intriguing, fascinating and provocative, The Pearl is book 3 in the erotica series The Godwicks, but can be read as a stand-alone. In fact, I didn't read the previous books yet (but plan on doing so after reading this book) and I appreciated how the author seamlessly recaped the first 2 books without taking anything away from this story's natural flow.
Although not a fan of the third person POV, I find it works really well here. The characters and their interaction is fascinating to me. The writing style is very elegant and I appreciate how the author uses art to drive the story and create a supernatural and mysterious atmosphere. I got immersed in the story from the first page and read everything in one sitting. I highly recommend it and can't wait for the next book in the series.
