Aaaaarrrgghh! They’ve done it again! Marvel, will you PLEASE stop cancelling these great comicbooks before they’ve had a chance to find their audience?

No, a wonderfully human, funny, heart-filling book like this will probably never get the kind of numbers your latest brain-dead ‘event’ book will get but surely you must realise catering to the lowest common denominator is not how you create great art?

Whatever... I realise it’s stupid to expect a big company like Disney to give a crap about anything other than the bottom line, so I’m going to stop wasting my breath.

The character bits in the first half of the book are great, but the big action scene in the end gets a bit too chaotic.

And once again the Unstoppable Wasp comes to a stop. After the disappointing YA novel this summer, I hope to see Nadia and her friends back in the comics on a regular basis sometime soon.

It looks like this got cancelled, at least for now, and that's so sad. Nadia is a delight, and I loved her supporting cast. I loved that we had a Marvel comic that dealt with mental illness in a realistic and healthy way. I'll miss this book.

Oh, man, this made the first run of Unstoppable Wasp even better! Nadia has settled into her lab, with friends Tania, Alexis, Shay, Priya, and Ying. Shay and Ying are dating, and are totally adorable disaster lesbians, especially when Ying lectures the shit out of Shay's mom (she deserved it). Priya accidentally gives herself plant powers, you know, as one does. Tania builts awesome robots. Alexis interns with Janet. Everything's going pretty well!

And Nadia has her first manic episode.

I want to give the authors props for writing bipolar disorder actually really well and really accurately. The first volume of the new series is a sort of arc, Nadia coming to terms with the fact that she does have bipolar disorder and it will screw up her life if she doesn't control it. The second volume is framed with therapists appointments, which I thoroughly appreciated. Bonus points for not demonizing Hank because he had bipolar disorder, but quite rightly calling him out on not dealing with it and hurting people he loved.

The queerness continues, the disabledness continues-- Tania gets a really cool rant about how she doesn't need to be fixed-- the diversity continues. The issue about Nadia's birthday party is really cute and features a lot of cameos (including from my precious perfect son Miles Morales). The longer arc, about the G.I.R.L. exhibition, is handled really well, and while it does leave a few threads dangling, I think that's because Marvel saw an awesome series and immediately cancelled it. Again. *sigh*

Anyway, I love Nadia, I love her friends, and I love this series. Would 100% force on teenagers.

Aww why the hell did this run get cancelled again? Rip but this was very fun.

The first half of this volume was so funny. It deals a lot with Nadia and the birthday party Janet throws for her and it was seriously hilarious. The party is full of young superheroes and Viv Vision walks around with Nadia talking to everyone and explaining how in the many complex ways they were or weren't related. Love seeing all of them and I loooved seeing Bucky. 😍 The fluff was off the charts but I ate it so hard.

The rest of the volume is Nadia and her friends having a final battle with A.I.M. and it was very actiony. Also I haven't mentioned but two of her friends are dating and it's so gay & adorable.

They really gave the Unstoppable Wasp everything huh, just to take it away.

this volume has Nadia coping with the aftermath of her bipolar diagnosis. She's got to repair relationships. Friends have been hurt, physically and emotionally.

It's nice to see them take a sincere look at bipolar disorder and how it impacts the people around us.

Good job Marvel. Keep this girl coming back for more series. She is a ray of sunshine.

Bonus: Is that girl a Marvel version of Poison Ivy?
Bonus Bonus: that Nadia family tree is hilarious

Marvel... why do you keep ending my favorite series? First Spider-man/Deadpool, then (maybe?) Mr. and Mrs. X (couldn't tell if that was actually ending or just moving on to a new writer... and no, I haven't actually looked into it because I want to enjoy the bliss of my denial), and now this one?!?! (Unless it's another writer switch-up? Even though that letter at the end did not sound like that... and all the loose ends got tied up...ugh... SERIOUSLY, MARVEL!?!?) Maybe if I was a bigger Marvel fan, I wouldn't care about these more "fun" series going away. But as someone who isn't really into the larger Marvel universe and its major events/players... these are the series that I love. And now... well, all I have to say is that they better not touch Squirrel Girl! But, anyways... about this particular graphic novel. I continue to love Nadia's upbeat attitude, and I love how this series highlights girls in STEM--there are young girls, teens, and women out there who need to see that they can rock that side of the brain, too. I also like the diversity in this graphic novel; it feels natural, even if it does, at times, also feel a little political. But those moments don't detract from the story or the characters and their relationships. The best part, for me personally, is Nadia and Janet's relationship. Janet is such a great step-mom, and Nadia is such a wonderful light to put beside her. Another plus--the honest and adeptly handled mental health storyline. VERY well done. In short: I'm sad to see this series go. I'm going to miss these gals, their spunk, their brilliant minds... and the special brand of comic book action that they gave us.

Fresh off her bipolar diagnosis, Nadia is trying her best to keep a good head on her shoulders. Of course, that's easier said than done when her friends are facing their own personal crises, and AIM when have their sights firmly set on stealing all of GIRLs achievements out from under them...

Nadia's adventures are just perfect. They've been perfect since her series launched, and this second attempt was just as perfect if not moreso. The opening few issues deal with Nadia's recovery as well as two of her supporting characters facing off with bigotry and morons, before we seague nicely into the GIRL vs AIM of the title, which manages to put all of the characters through the wringer and wrap up all of the outstanding storylines nicely before things come to a conclusion (it's a shame we never got that Nadia vs. Pymtron story that was teased, but there's only so many pages I guess).

On art is returning series artist Gurihiru, joined by Alti Firmansyah for the opening issues. Firmansyah's a little rougher around the edges compared to Gurihiru's more cartoony style, but they capture Nadia's world so perfectly without even trying. I'm so glad we're getting more Gurihiru art in mainstream comics these days.

Nadia's solo series has always been wonderful from start to finish, and I wish Marvel would stop bloody cancelling her.

Miss may be better than the first volume.

The thing I like about Marvel comics that they've added the last few years, is showing their superheroes when they're not fighting crime.

Started with She-Hulk, was perfected with Hawkeye, and brought to genius-level with Vision. And then they threw in a few great little comics like Patsy Walker Hellcat and this. Maybe it's just because I'm getting older, but I prefer to see my superheroes freak out over an unbalanced checkbook than fight their nemeses for the sake of saving the world.

Maybe that's why Spider-Man has always been great. It's always had that balance from the beginning. At least, the good ones have.

So this is the “last” Unstoppable Wasp Volume as of right now, but I have hope it’ll get another continuation sooner than later. The characters and themes are just too good and too darn important to be left alone for too long. If you haven’t read any Wasp yet, do yourself a favor and catch up! 5/5 stars

ARGGGG MARVEL, Y U CANCEL???! AGAIN?!!!! This series is amazing & I'm just so frustrated why good books go nowhere with you.

Jeremy Whitley is a fantastic writer: writing funny and meaningful content for REAL characters who grow and blossom from issue to issue, and also totally friggin kick butt as super heroes! It's such a shame...

This book was a solid 5 star read, starting with Nadia's apology to Taina (after the whole "fix what's broken" drama from Nadia's manic episode at the end of The Unstoppable Wasp: Unlimited, Vol. 1: Fix Everything). Not only was Nadia's apology real, she didn't quit when Taina pushed back. Nadia's vulnerability and honesty was so important (I found it especially moving as a reader to see a real friendship struggle and heal from a serious "fall out")! <3
I also loved that Taina understood Nadia & her struggles & they were able to find common ground in their experiences & Taina gave Nadia some real advice on how to move forward:
"This bipolar thing, it's going to be like my Cerebral palsy. It's gonna hurt. Sometimes it'll screw up your whole day or keep you from doing something you really want to do. Realizing your limits can be hard, but you can't let it beat you.
The best and worst days of your life still happen. Some days you'll just cry about nothing, 'cause it ain't fair.
But most of the time, it'll just be part of who you are. It doesn't have to define you, but you can embrace it. People will go, "Oh, poor Taina, she can't walk without braces." And you'll say, "Yeah, and I took apart and rebuilt the engine for my sister's car at 12. You can
t even program your remote control and both your legs work fine." Or...that for mental stuff, I guess."

Also, I loved the scenes with Nadia at therapy (let's normalize therapy, y'all!!!)!

After therapy...
Priya: "Okay, now I feel like a jerk. Here I am freaked out about this stuff and you're walking around with the world on your shoulders and you've never even had a Birthday party."
Nadia: "Come on, now. It's totally not the same thing. We're all entitled to be upset about the things that hurt us. We don't have to compare."
Priya: "Nadia, I know you're smart, but sometimes you're surprisingly wise."
Nadia: "Oh, no. That's just something my therapist said to me this morning."
<3

Nadia's Birthday party and family mapping was AMAZING. I've been reading comic books for about 10 yrs now, and even after all this time I have NO IDEA who's related to who & the weird relationships on Nadia's family tree, so not only was it a. super informative, it was also b. HILLARIOUS and very well done! Whitley kept it light & entertaining the whole way through!
(I adore every time Nadia refers to Vision as her "darling little nephew"! And, HOW CUTE is William Grant? <3
Hercules is pretty much a great addition to any Marvel party. And the team-up as Nadia's B. day present was perfect!)

I was really proud of Nadia's character growth in the second half of the book with the G.I.R.L. Expo... Not having anything to showcase at the Expo sent her into her tail spin in Vol. 1 & here in Vol. 2 Nadia is such a champ working on herself & her mental health. Whitley just nails the writing here is such a meaningful way. (AGAIN, MARVEL, Y U DO THIS???!)
There's a ton of action in issues #9 & #10 wrapping up some plot points of this short series.

Two stand out scenes in Vol. 2 G.I.R.L. VS. A.I.M. were 1. Shay & Ying meeting Shay's mom in issue #6. The way Ying confronts Shay's Mom was so powerful and meaningful. It was a short scene, but carried a huge weight in terms of importance in character growth and reader's self-worth.
and 2. Janet vs. Whirlwind in issue #9. Wow.
I didn't know Whirlwind before this, but man did he make my skin crawl. The misogyny, the violence, the obsession with Janet & clear psychosis was just... Wow.
Whitley is such a talented character writer -able to bring out the best and worst in characters over two short pages!

This book and series gets 5 stars.
This series cancellation gets 0 stars.

I'm sure this will come as no surprise to the probably one person who may or may not read my reviews but I loved this so so much. Nadia is such a fun and complex protagonist, she is bubbly and kicks butt and is so good at most things but she also has deep and real issues, (red room trauma, and the bipolar diagnosis to name two) I have also loved seeing Ying and Shay's relationship grow throughout the books as well as the appearances from other notable characters, Winter Soldier, Mockingbird, the Young Avengers!!! (and other young adult heroes!!) and the fact that Taina might be going out with Ghost Rider, Robbie Reyes it cute and actually kind of funny to me. I really hope we get another Nadia solo book in the future but in the meantime I think I might have to read champions now... why not?!
cannot recommend this book about complex science nerds changing the world, with and without powers, enough.

Please stop cancelling the Unstoppable Wasp! My little heart can't take it. This volume is a continuation of so many things that were fantastic about the previous installments: awesome ladies being awesome, science, superheroics, and an honest depiction of living with a mental illness. There's a lot of plot going on in this one, but the best parts are the friendships between the girls and their support of each other. Plus, you know, defeating bad guys. I really wish there would be more of these because as much as I enjoy them, I can't help but think of all the kids who must love the high energy stories and warm fuzzy found-family feelings.

It felt like Whitley really did know the series was going to be over once and for all, and decided to go out having fun with it. It's like the first half of this volume was just picking up the pieces of Nadia and giving her a good status quo for other creators to build off of- let's introduce her to the rest of the Marvel universe, let's talk about her therapy, let's bring everything together. And then the second half is celebrating G.I.R.L. and giving a closing to the character arcs for Nadia and each of her supporting cast. It's fun, it's pretty light reading, and it's a good cap off to the story of the "Unstoppable Wasp".

Fun and lighthearted, perhaps a bit too much so in the first portion with the focus on Nadia’s birthday, but the GIRL science fair was entertaining enough. I like the idea of AIM and GIRL getting along based on their mutual love of science, given that they’re typically cast as evil mad scientists to be punched by buff superheroes. Too bad it’s finished.

Another adventure with the G.I.R.L's and the Unstoppable Wasp. Nadia trying to control her bipolar disorder, going to therapy, realizing who her friends (and family) are, having a party and fighting off A.I.M. with the help of Mockingbird and the Winter Soldier.

Fun and charmingly illustrated and colored.

Great for middle readers to adults.

Ends not with a bang, but with a whimper. The writing on this one was lower quality than usual and felt rushed, which I assume can be chalked up to the series getting canceled. It’s a shame it didn’t end stronger when I liked the previous volumes so much.

I really like Nadia as a character. She could own this book if given the chance, but instead she ends up being one of a very large ensemble. She also isn't the Wasp very often. The book looks good and has charm, but it wasn't what I wanted.

I really like this book a lot, and I’m sad it’s been cancelled again. Nadia is a really great character, and the Agents of G.I.R.L. felt really empowering. I liked all the characters and I hope they find another home sometime soon, especially Shay and Ying, who are adorable together.

It’s such a shame this series was cancelled because it’s utterly wonderful. Everything from the characters to the art style to the action to the humour to the diversity in race, sexuality and mental health is a true delight to read and I just want more of it!!

Wraps most of the things up? I don't have strong feelings about this except it feels like too many characters are gathered for reasons that aren't the strongest.
