Murray Leinster was a nom de plume of William Fitzgerald Jenkins, an award-winning American writer of science fiction and alternate history. He wrote and published over 1,500 short stories and articles, 14 movie scripts, and hundreds of radio scripts and television plays.
An author whose career spanned the first six decades of the 20th Century. From mystery and adventure stories in the earliest years to science fiction in his later years, he worked steadily and at a highly professional level of craftsmanship longer than most writers of his generation. He won a Hugo Award in 1956 for his novelet “Exploration Team,” and in 1995 the Sidewise Award for Alternate History took its name from his classic story, “Sidewise in Time.” His last original work appeared in 1967.

The sci-fi element is rather scarce in this book albeit more because time and the technological evolutino caught up with the story than that it would be outdated.
But it can be more looked upon as an alternative reality that extraterrestial fiction.
The story grabs the attention of the reader and keeps him/her hooked until the end. It is a bit predictable given the track record of Leinster, this book has a happy ending and proves American supremacy like all the others - could be and example for Donald Trump with MAGA...
A certain lack of emotion and romance - the story and tragedy is too big for that - is made up for by a good dose of humor, although it certainly is not a funny story, far from.
The short fake historical notes at the beginning of the chapters are an example of the cynic humor.
But it can be more looked upon as an alternative reality that extraterrestial fiction.

Entertaining listening 🔰😮
Another will written fantasy Sci-Fi adventures thriller short story by Murray Leinster about war coming to the East Coast of the United States. A futuristic weapon is landed on the coast where it starts destroying towns until a sergeant and helicopter 🚁 pilot bringing it to it's end. I would recommend this novella to anyone looking for a quick read. Enjoy the adventure of reading 👓 or listening 🎶 to different kinds of novels 👍🔰🏡😮 2022

This first appeared in Astounding Stories, December 1931.
It is a tale of a future war (1941-43) and its men and alternative reality events. At the beginning of each chapter, it was clever to put in a brief history, as if it were presented in a War College.
