A witchy book worm. A poisoned sister. And a powerful Council that wants them all dead.

When Bella’s rebel sister is poisoned, it’s up to Bella to protect her. But saving Courtney means going to the magical realm, where Bella must face her powerful father and the Council of Warlocks, both of whom have their own plans for Bella’s life.

Once Bella makes her presence known, the Council demands she step into her role as Heir to the High Warlock. But the last thing a bookworm like Bella wants is to be pushed into the spotlight…and to the top of the assassin’s hit list.

Now, facing the toughest challenge of her life, Bella will be forced to choose whose life to save first: her own or her sisters. If she chooses wrong, it may just be the end of both their lives.

If you enjoy the action and speed of a CN Crawford novel and the romance and heat of Jeaniene Frost, then you’ll love Amelia Shaw’s new series, Daughters of the Warlock.

Although this is the fourth book in the series it is actually the first book in a new trilogy and it’s every bit as addictive as the previous trilogy. It’s fast paced and full of action, romance and a little heat, it’s also exciting and intriguing and magical. Fab world, holding, fab storyline and fab characters, can’t wait to read more!

This is book four of the Daughters of the Warlock series and this book concentrates on the story of Bella, the bookworm. There are three sisters, Ava, Bella and Courtney, who never knew their father and their mother never mentioned who he was to her daughters. They had lived for years in an alternative and secret realm that their mother had created. Everything in that space was created by their mother and upon her death, everything she had created, disappeared. Luckily one of the sister’s was very good at creating and making items and even the house they know live in. The oldest daughter, Ava, had gone to the Fae realm, wanting to find out more about their father and finding out why he ignored them for all those years. She finds herself in a very complex situation as she and her mother and sisters are all powerful witches and their father is a warlock. In the world their father currently lives in, that sort of relationship is not allowed. Ava had to defend her very presence and position as the daughter of the head warlock, Matlock, in front of their Council of Warlocks and has many enemies. She kept the presence of her two other sister’s secret, until she could get some of the laws changed and members of the council removed who are against her very existence.

She has now married her father’s security guard and half-breed, Tavlor, another action that didn’t go down well with some of the council, who have changed historical laws to suit their own desires. The High Warlock is supposed to have one heir, a male heir only, to take over from them after they die. Matlock’s arranged marriage was childless, but he had three daughters illegitimately with their mother. Ava is waiting to see if they will amend their laws to make her his heir and the next Head Warlock, even though she is female and illegitimate. Matters back at her secret home, are not well, as Bella can cope by sticking her head into a book, but Courtney is beginning to rebel, wanting out of their isolated home, with no other contact. She has started going to the human village, but this could place her in danger! Courtney ends up being poisoned by someone and Bella is left trying to work out how to save her life and what potions to use. Her mother never really helped any of the girls learn any healing spells or potions, so she has to use her books to help.

Her books can only take her so far, as she still can’t find out what type of poison was used on her younger sister. She has done all she can and since Ava and Tavlor are travelling in the fae realms and are unable to be contacted, she has little choice but to travel out of her private and safe realm, to her father’s realm at the heart of the magical realms. Her presence in the magical realm and the offices of the Warlock Council, soon gets her and her father in trouble, as they want to charge her for her very existence and punish her father for keeping her a secret. Once they learn there is a third daughter as well, then matters escalate rapidly. Bella used some unfamiliar magic spells to get her sister to Matlock for his help in healing her. He takes the two of them to a healer in another realm, but are followed and guards try to arrest Bella for multiple crimes. They manage to agree she will go to her father’s office and Matlock threatens them with bodily harm if any of them lay a hand on Bella. Courtney ends up with a cousin of her father, who is an excellent healer, once the poison was identified. Bella gets the chance to meet Matlock’s parents and some of her extended and unknown family.

The Council want her to stay in their realm and insist she is tested for her level of magical prowess and powers. She has no real offensive powers, but is good at shielding and protection spells. The opposite of her other sisters, and especially doesn’t consider herself anything as powerful as Ava, who the Council had already tested when she appeared in court. Someone is still working in the background, unhappy with Matlock’s sudden heirs turning up and want all three daughters dead! Bella is offered a job, but doesn’t want to really stay in the magical realm, preferring to go back to her own private realm with her books. But they offer her a job in a huge library and when she is shown around, she falls in love with the amount of books and the knowledge she could gain. Matlock leaves her there and Courtney joins her there at the end of her day but as they are about to leave, they are attacked. Bella can’t save both of them, as the magic she is facing is more than she can defeat, so must decide to send Courtney for help as soon as she can deflect the killer’s attention.

Bella may be a bit of a bookworm and love the peace and quiet of her isolated realm, but her younger sister is far more like their older sister Ava and wants more from life. But with the sisters facing an assassin, she ends up left all on her own, having to make life changing decisions about her sister’s life and searching for new magic to try and save her life. She has to travel out of their own realm to one where she knows she won’t be welcome, but has no other help she can call upon. Her life will be changed by her decisions now, but she also needs her wits about her to survive as well. A great addition to the series and nice to see the bookworm sister Bella having a huge role to play in this storyline. We got to know so much about Ava so far in the series and this one shows us more about Bella and even a bit about Courtney as well. Each sister has her own personality and magical skills, and we are just learning the basics about Bella and her powers. Nice to see Matlock interacting with his other daughters and I look forward to reading the next book in the series to see more of them all. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

Bella is the middle sister to Ava (main character in the first three books.)
I don’t think you need to read the first three books, but it will give you background on the sister’s and the story so far....
She’s the bookworm of the family, happy with her own company. She loves to read, and practises her magic at every opportunity.
She’s not happy that she’s got to look after her youngest sister Courtney, she’s is the rebel, the one that sneaks out to the human world.
Courtney is the youngest sister and loved by both Bella and Ava.
And I have a feeling we will get to meet her and read her story next.
A little background.....
Bella and her sister’s were a secret, her mother had an affair with the High Warlock, she then had to leave the realm to hide her daughters. If they had been found, the council would have put them to death. The High Warlock’s seat gets passed usually within the family.
The last three books concentrated in Ava and her battle to see her father and be accepted. She kept her sisters hidden in the human world.
Don’t want to give too much away for the first three books.
And when Courtney is poisoned, Bella can’t find a spell to help her sister!
Her only course of action..... her father!!
Travelling to the realm her father was in was easier than Bella expected. The visit to her father went better than she thought it would.
Finding a cure for her sister was proving a little more difficult!!
And now she has to face the council! They want her tested, and then to join the community! No thank you, Bella couldn’t think of anything worse! She liked her own company and the simple life her and Courtney lived.
Learning about her mother and fathers family was a nice surprise for both Bella and Courtney. They welcome to visit, it had Bella rethinking her ideas of going back to their home.
Getting to know her father was a big plus also, he seemed genuinely concerned for both of his daughters. I think I wanted to get to know them better.
But on the downside, there were people in this realm wanting the three sisters dead!
So will Bella and Courtney stay? Will Bella join the witches college?
I’m sure we will find out in the next book.

🦋 I received this book for an honest review and all thoughts are my own.

🕸️🕸️ONE ADVENTUROUS TREAT🕸️🕸️
Hocus oops! Amelia lights this baby up like the 4th of July, cranking it up loud and reeling you in, keeping you riveted on a razors edge and frozen to your seat, raising the stakes and propelling this gem to life flawlessly. Sparks fly as daring drama, captivating intrigue, damning secrets, dangerous assassin's, unveiled revelations, escalating danger, spiraling suspense and unnerving situations, along with a boatload of misgivings while dodging calamity, you have one chart topping adventure. Restrictions are heightened and exploited, observing the fearful facts, dubious deals and electrifying escapades, thrusting this baby into the eye of the storm, kicking it into a tailspin with a mind-blowing culmination. You feel everything the characters feel, you become a part of the story instead of on the sidelines. The characters, interactions and charged atmosphere along with relatable qualities and individual traits, adding depth and diversity, transforming into formidable personalities. The scenes are strikingly sharp with abundant details and vivid descriptions that feel as though you were transported to ground zero with them. Remarkable job Amelia, thanks for sharing this little jewel with us.

Descriptive, intriguing, and interesting. I enjoyed this book and Bella was a relatable character. The plot was interesting and I enjoyed reading about her finding her courage. Nothing is stronger than love and in this case its the love of a sibling that sends her on her quest. The smart one, the quiet one, the middle child. Throughout the book, Bella becomes more than she was, not different entirely but more just the same. She was an interesting character. The only thing was I wish I had read the first 3 books before it. I know each trilogy is separate (each being about a different sister) but I feel like some of the world-building and sisterly bond from Ava's books might have given this an entirely different feel. I did buy book 1 of Ava's trilogy so I hope to remedy that soon. All in all a good read.

She doesn't want her sister to feel guilty about them and what is going on. Bella is keeping busy before her sister gets up. Bella starts to worry when she hears crashing coming from her sister's room. When her sister comes out, Bella knows it is bad. She realizes someone has hurt her sister. She does what she can to stabilize her.
Bella realizes she must go to the magic realm in order to save her sister. She has to see her father but Bella has never been comfortable leaving her realm. She goes to see an her mother's friend. She is able to help Bella get into the magic realm. She puts everything on the line to save her sister's life. There is more danger than what she thought. Our heroine declined to become the heir, but now the council is trying to force it on her at the expense of her sister. But one thing our heroine has learned is she does not like being forced into a decision.

This is book four of this urban fantasy series, but also the start of a new story arc. So this is a fair place to start.

This is an urban fantasy series. As this is the start of a second story arc, we get a well developed and detailed world with an excellent cast of characters. Even if you have not read the initial trilogy, all the essentials are presented early on. Which is good, because the plot is fast paced and grabs your attention early on and doesn't let go. The story is well written and I really like the depth of the story and our characters which really make for a solid read. I have found this series to be highly addictive and eagerly await the next book.

Highly recommended.

Bella, the middle sister has to save Courtney’s life…she has been poisoned. The only thing she knows to do is to go to their father, the High Warlock. When they get to his realm, he will do everything in his power to keep them both safe. The Council once again tests her powers to see what job to put her into. She finds the perfect job, meets some of her family members, meets a shifter and just when things seem to start going right…someone shows up to thwart those plans by trying to kill them! Cliffhanger…I received this via Booksprout and am leaving a voluntary review.

Bella’s sister is poisoned and Bella has to save her. But that means she has to take Courtney into the magical realm where she will be revealed to her High Warlock father and the Council. All of them have plans for her to step up as heir to the High Warlock, but that is not a life she wants for herself. Will she abandon her sister to get away from their influence? Will she be put in danger from the assassins?

Grab your copy and see what choices Bella must make to do what she feels is the right thing for both her sister and herself.

I enjoyed this book it was very intriguing. The world building is well done and the MC Bella is relatable.

The plot kept me engaged in the story and I
felt Bella had good character growth on this book.

I would swy this should nit be read as a standalone I have not read the first books. I was abke to delve into the story arc but feel I would have known more had I read the rest of the series.

I still enjoyed the book and I would recommend it.

I was enthralled by the first books but find myself wondering how 3 trilogy book sets in the same universe
I also dislike jumping into the middle of a series without finishing the first books so I found myself dropping this until I could read book 3

The writing is good and the world great but feel it would be tiring to read a full 9 books set in this world

From looking at the titles it’s not clear just who will lead and that’s disheartening

After 3 books devoted to Ava, the perfect older sister: beautiful, talented, feisty........, I was afraid Bella's part of the story would pale in comparison. Not in the slightest! If anything, Bella is even more of a strong character because she is incapable of recognising her own strengths. I read this one in a single sitting and cannot wait for the next installment!

First book in Bella's story.

To save her little sisters life Bella must seek help in the magic realm of The High Warlock, their father. There she is confronted with choices and dangers. As she tries to come to terms with everything going on.
Not quite a cliff hanger but close. It will hold you attention as the story unfolds.

This book is about Bella the shy bookworm. She always felt inferior to Ava and Courtney but when Courtney is poisoned Bella steps up and gets her to their father. Bella is overwhelmed by the Magical Realm but for her sisters welfare she endures and takes a stand.
I couldn’t put this down. I loved it.

A good story.

Bella enters the magic realm to save Courtney. I like the way the story has Bella discovering there is more to her than she thinks. There is danger for the sisters, but they also find their father cares for them. I will be reading the rest of the series.
