I’m so exhausted from trying to finish this book, I can’t begin to describe my irritation… if there was an editor, they don’t deserve their job. There were SO many plot points with MASSIVE holes, SO many explanations left untold, SO many characters left undeveloped, SO many jarring back and forth’s… even the sex scenes left me with unsatisfactory results.
There were a few bits and pieces that redeemed a star, but this felt like one massive manic episode from an untethered writer with a complacent “test group” that gave confidence in publishing this book…. Which has SO much potential… but ended up a “belly flop on pavement” type of fail to me.
I just don’t get the high ratings, TBH… but to each their own! I’m not usually this harsh with ratings, so I apologize if this rubs someone the wrong way. It was one of two books I’ve ever considered not finishing, but I’d hate it if I didn’t because I spent $10-ish on it via Audible to buy it… and I would feel like more of a jerk if I left a less than satisfactory rating without paying the author properly for doing so.

2.5 Can't Recall Anything Stars
This book was absolutely positively not for me. I was lost about 95% of the time and after about a quarter of the way through I stopped caring and honestly couldn't recall much of what happened even having read it all through. When the book started there was already so much going on that I felt a bit like an outsider. Right off the bat the author introduces three female characters (Sonya, Sarah and Silvia) and I was immediately lost and confused. This pattern did not end for me and I just could not seem to care. In fact at one point I just began hoping the world (in the book) would explode so I could have cared less about anything going on or anyone. The heroine is a succubus so by nature she needs sex. At let me tell you this girl is always ready and will literally F anyone, and she does. I'm all for female empowerment and sexuality but it was too much for me, I mean she even messes around with her ex-gf's new gf, it's a Jerry Springer episode featuring supernaturals. Even when she has her four mates it's as if they're not enough for her. On that note I still have zero clue what the whole concept of her 4 mates and seven sins are, I am so beyond lost with this and feels too much like a word problem I have zero patience to understand. I wasn't really a fan of any of the characters until Xavier, the heroine's last mate shows up, in the last book aside from Nate who is really just a side mate that never made sense to me. It's clear that my not enjoying the book really distracted me from the actual story line. Honestly I was just so happy it was ending I could not even tell you what exactly happened in the end. I know they went to hell and all were tested in different levels but there was so much that I missed and when everything wrapped up I felt hella lost but happy I was finished. I know I know, why did I bother if the book wasn't for me... I was reading with a buddy and so I toughed it out. While the authors writing style and story line were not for me I'm sure there are many others who would disagree. For those that are turned off by any type of free love, you probably want to steer clear of this one. When the book begins the heroine is in a relationship with another woman and so if that alone doesn't do it for you, the series will really not be for you.

Jumbled Mess and a DNF

The very first scene we meet Sonya in she is wide awake tell us a very detailed description of a nightmare that she has every time she falls asleep that she doesn't remember. How can you tell me about a nightmare you don't remember?
The book is a jumble of back and forth between characters and so random in some places. I read fast at about 4-5 books a week after 3 days on this book I gave up at 63%. I really honestly tried to get into it, to give it a solid chance but it was boring, confusing, and I was downright irritated with Sonya's personality.

I started this book with a ton of excitement! Magic, combat and the seven deadly sins! What more could you want? But, I ended up DNF'ing this book. Which I do not make a habit of doing.
The description of the book, while accurate, still seems a bit misleading. I struggled my way through the first book and did not finish the second. There seemed to be so many holes in the story and it seemed to run through parts of the story so quickly, I didn't know where I was.
In the beginning of part one, you can tell the main character is struggling and is about to come into a prophecy. The problem is that the book jumps back and forth so much, I couldn't tell you what was going on. The fact that the main character is a succubus, you know there is going to be sex and most likely a ton of it. She starts out not liking someone, has sex, and now all of a sudden she likes them. It was all very confusing.

What and huh?
I can count the number of times I DNF a book and normally it takes a lot but from chapter 1 it was slow from the get go. The author keeps messing up details and it has a lot of pointless information. By 25% in I had enough. This book is hard to follow, slow to start and the first 2 sex scenes were watered down so much they had no flavor left. 10/10 would not recommend

The premise of the overall story is interesting but the execution is not that great. To me the story very much came across is all over the place there was some key character development really left out but I will say the final book in the ultimate ending did wrap everything up nicely but the journey was not awesome I'm not entirely sure I would read anything else by this author.

At 30% there is a scene were she is essentially raped.
And it is by a guy who is being forced to have sex with her. Not that she doesn't want to because she thinks he is her mate but in that moment he is being forced.

I've found my third, and he's definitely the sin of anger. Jet has some damn rage problems, but I guess that's to be expected from a dragon shifter. Am I ready to play with fire? You bet your ass I am.
Derek, one of my sins, is making good work on stirring the pot. He's trying to rip open a hole to hell and he's gotten Luke on a leash to do just that. Don't worry, I have a plan. I just hope it doesn't get everybody killed.

Ew. Just ew
There is so much wrong with this book. It was free. A Paranormal RH romance and I grabbed it. I'll be deleting it after posting this. Because ew. Gross. She starts the book in a relationship with her girlfriend. But as a succubus she can only feed off men. Her relationship is killing her. But to feed she'd have to cheat. Oh, and feeding means killing the guy. So, either she dies or whoever she feeds from does. So she says goodbye to the woman she loves and goes off to die. But a friend wanders out, sees her, tries his hand since he knew about the breakup, gets jumped because her system didn't want to die, so he's now on borrowed time. He then gets kidnapped by a detective that hasn't been mentioned but apparently has a beef with the succubus. Her girlfriend saw the nab, follows, get kidnapped, too. While all this is happening she's dragged before the incubus king, told he'll help but only if she sleeps with him and his wife. Ew. Skimmed over the ick and the next scene is her tackling the king's son, who is a supposed mate. More ew. She is tracking another mate, they all get kidnapped, and wake up to the king forcing arousal in them all, so basically she wakes up to her mate being roofied into forcing her to have s*x. The ew just kept coming at you. There's not a damned bit of romance in any of that crap. It was disgusting. R*pe isn't romantic. And the father/mother/son with the same partner, albeit for very different reasons, is a big ick factor. There's also no world building, and standard rules don't seem to apply to these supernaturals, so things don't make sense. The characters are horrible. And the plot, well it exists but ew. I feel like I just ripped this to shreds but honestly the blurb didn't warn people about all that. Post warnings. I need mind bleach. *shudder* I kept thinking, no, it has to get better for so many high ratings. Nope. It did not.

Well the first two books blew me away. The third I found a little boring in the beginning. I loved the characters. I liked how she had to find 7 people who in essence had part of her soul. I liked how these seven also represented one of the seven deadly sins in one way. I liked how the dynamics of the relationships changed though out the story. Some parts were a little predictable but it was a very enjoyable book.

Too much
So there was too much going on in this book way too much yes its 3 books in 1 but still so much going on that it was hard to keep all the plots in order pretty much Sonya has no clue what she is besides a succubus. It seem like the writer kept adding more things and plot lines without finishing and explaining the last one it wasn't till book 3 and last chapters that it finally all got explained. Do get me wrong at some points it was like ohh let keep reading cant put it down then at others I was like get to the point already I felt like it just dragged on and this probably could of be skimmed down into 1 bc there were a bunch of thing that had no bearing and have been shorten like book 2 and Sarah man I really got annoyed with her character she knew things but yet she was upset that her lover who was a succubus needed me to survive but she got pissy about it like come on again shes a succubus, over all it was ok but feels a bit little adhd going on and your getting a bit of this and a bit of that and mush it all together and you get this book

Dnf
Not my cup of tea and dnf, made it half way before throwing in the towel. This read is hard to follow without understanding what exactly is going on. I was baffled constantly, and found myself aggravated to even want to follow when we are going back and forth between characters. I finally decided to just give this one a rest, if I wasn't into it by now, I wasn't going to be.

If I had only read the first book, my rating would be very different: The FF theme is not my cup of tea and I also didn't like how rape was kind of downplayed. But I soldiered on and the second and third book were actually good.

I was quite intrigued by this but I just couldn’t get in to it. It’s a great concept with the whole 7 pieces of soul but it’s all jumbled and I found myself getting lost quite often. I really wanted to finish so I could judge book as a whole but I gave up around 65%

I just couldn’t get into the book. The plot was ok. I kept trying at got over half way, but it just lacked the pull I’m used to and want.

“Dark has chased me all my life.” Thorn took a risk with that opening line; if she couldn’t keep the book just as intriguing from there, it’d fall flat. It does not disappoint! The writing is brilliant and the descriptives are beautiful, dark and fascinating.
I discovered Thorn when I read ‘Chasing Fate’ and I knew then I’d need to read all she has to offer. Even coming into it with that attitude, I’m not let down … and I’m easily let down / notoriously hard to please. 😏 This book though - let me tell you:
Having gone outside late at night, I didn’t see the lights, traffic, passersby, wildlife, etc. All I could see was the dark alley behind a bar in Seattle… the setting of the last scene I’d read before going out. I wondered what everyone was up to next and for hours, until this book and I met again, it was all I could think of and all I saw. And I was only a few percent of the way in!
That really kept up throughout the book. It does end on a cliffhanger but the next book is available now so that’s no big deal. Really fun, addictive read.

After being completely hooked into this world in book 1, ‘Succubus Sins’, I of course needed to read on. Book 2 picks up right where book 1 left off and keeps on with the all-absorbing, action-and-drama-packed atmosphere. This trilogy is a drug and I expect I’ll re-read it many times.
There are some really interesting supernaturals in this one, as well as some interesting twists on myths and legends, and I can’t help but appreciate the author and feel a need to consume everything else she’s written (which I’m working on!).
Character development is on point, continuity seems perfect and before I knew it, I was into book 3; this series is never dull!
I enjoyed traveling along with Sarah for a bit, the family drama, the mate drama, and the mystery. Sonya’s still trying to figure her s--- out and I’m just along for the ride, enjoying every minute. Too busy devouring all the action to bother trying to make predictions, which is nice.
Editing-wise, book is clean, free of distractions.
Formatting: this book is absolutely gorgeous!

They’ve got lots to accomplish, and as it involves the destinies of several of them—and Lilith, as it happens—it’s fun to read along and see the pieces come together.
Thorn weaved a comlex, epic plot and no one can accuse her of being one of those RH authors who just writes sex parties. (Speaking of sex, every single time anything sexual occurs there is actually a plot-related reason behind it. Thorn uses sex scenes to aid in telling the story, rather than many who do the opposite.) This trilogy packs depth, so much action and adventure, epic love, corruption, danger … and that’s just to name a few.
The more I read into ‘Vampire Sins’, the more I couldn’t wait to dive into ‘Royal Covens’, the next trilogy in the Blood Stone world. It’ll also leave you wanting Lily’s series, ‘Fortune Academy’ if you haven’t already read it—and I strongly suggest you do read them all, as this world only gets more fun.
They also might just make you think—Thorn has a way of painting scenarios where even the worst villains seem worthy and capable of redemption. The mythology and Christianity tie-ins are brilliantly done; if you’ve discovered this author, you’ll never have time to be bored again.

“Dark has chased me all my life.” Thorn took a risk with that opening line; if she couldn’t keep the book just as intriguing from there, it’d fall flat. It does not disappoint! The writing is brilliant and the descriptives are beautiful, dark and fascinating.
I discovered Thorn when I read ‘Chasing Fate’ and I knew then I’d need to read all she has to offer. Even coming into it with that attitude, I’m not let down … and I’m easily let down / notoriously hard to please. 😏 This book though - let me tell you:

The characters and scenes were intriguing, complex, realistic and a little on the odd side. Hey, I said a little. Its not like they can hear me. Geez. So we have the main major boss herself in town learning all about her gifts and how to bring 4 beasties to their knees. Ok, back to the story. Its starting to get real and she is one bad ass to pull it off. The characters are all very interesting to say the least. And I'm not just talking about the her guys. We do have other sups out there. Note: I received this book from the author and I voluntarily give this review, it is my honest opinion.
J.R Thorn got me hooked with the Elemental Fae Academy series, it's the first thing I have ever read by her and after that, I was a goner. The next thing I started was the Fae Academy series, and I am currently in the middle of that series (it's currently ongoing) and of course, it's amazing but then I realized that there was a series that predate Fae Academy. Blood Stone series is sort of a prequel to the Fae Academy series, Blood Stone is an origin story to one of the characters from Fae Academy so of course, I had to jump in.
The Blood Stone series was freaking fantastic, everything flowed so smoothly and the story was very compelling. I had the audio version of this book and the narrator, Lia Holland, did an amazing job, she really brought these characters to life.
Sonya is great, she is funny, sassy, strong, and stubborn. She is very complex, Sonya grew-up knowing she was a succubus but she doesn't want to be. Sonya doesn't want to be a killer and that is exactly what happens if she sleeps with a human male however if she doesn't sleep with a male then she doesn't get what she needs to survive. So I can see how she is struggling and it kinda pulls at my heart plus with her feisty attitude I couldn't help but like her.
As for Sonya's destiny, she is connected to the seven deadly sins, there is a whole big prophecy that has to do with the seven deadly sins, which is a fantastic idea for a story, it's the first time I've come across anything like this. It's gonna be up to Sonya to stop whatever evil that is coming but she won't be doing it alone, she has to find and connect with her mates in order save everyone.
The entire series is great, Sonya is trying to come to terms with who she is while figuring out what she is supposed to do all the while trying to defeat a known and unknown enemy. Lots of pieces are on the board, and everything is leading Sonya to her destiny. She has gone through so much in this series, she has evolved and has finally come to a place where she can accept what she is. She has the love and protection of her mates and while she doesn't have all the answers, with them she most definitely goes looking for them. Sonya has a protective nature, she is a good person and she fights for everyone and that has never been more true than in this book. Sonya is fighting for humanity, for her mates, and for her place in the supernatural world and it leads to a pretty satisfying conclusion.
I got an ending that I loved, especially because there will be spin-offs within the world. Most of my questions were answered however one character kinda fell off, no resolution with them and I wonder if they will pop up in another's story. I have already read part of Fortune Academy so I already know some of the new players but it's was fantastic seeing where everything started. I love Ms. Thorn as a writer and I can't wait to read whatever else she writes.

Good bones, yet a bit disappointing
Multiple 1st person pov, Seattle, New York, Shanghai, Venice, Florida, Hell. HEA, I guess, but with carrots for other books or series. 3-4 peppers of spice, though not really much kink, aside from the obvious of reverse harem, blood play, non-con, among a few others. The concept was intriguing. A succubus has a rather convoluted part in a prophecy nobody knows about, everyone has small parts in, and is not spelled out. The whole thing felt disjointed, overwhelming, and frustrating. I believe it was originally written in more than one novella, and unfortunately it was not rewritten to become one book, which means at least in the Kindle edition there was quite a bit of essentially reminding the reader what happened in the last installment. Also, the timeline was muddled, if felt like we were part of every minute of every moment, yet at time I felt surprised that a certain amount of time had flown by. The one I remember most was when Sarah sent Sonya to I think New York to find Luke, seemingly right after the previous events, and when she finds Luke she supposedly had been looking for him all over the country for 3 months. That was the worst, but there were other times that it was very hard to get a good feel for the timeline. It felt at times very disjointed. The whole situation felt rushed, she was constantly being swept away by some event or another, abandoning her bonds, and essentially immediately forgetting about them. She was supposed to be this powerful creature, yet everyone overpowers her. As I mentioned before, the whole thing felt as overwhelming to me as reader as it must have been to Sonya to experience. An excellent job of tying your reader to your main character, but because the main sense/emotion was overwhelming frustration, maybe not the best choice. There was lots of basic spice, but essentially a complete lack of depth of emotion, aside from overwhelming frustration. The magic system also felt underdeveloped. Every time there was an issue, there was an off the chart resolution that was relatively easy come by. It was just a somewhat disappointing read to me.

I DNF’d this series, it was like the author thought of all the things that could make a great book and then threw them together, crossed their fingers and hoped it all worked out for the best.
We start off with the MFC who is a succubus who has a girlfriend who she can’t feed off, she needs dick to feed not a kitty so she’s slowly starving herself to death. What for I am not sure, there is zero chemistry between the couple.
Then we have 7 sins, but 4 men who are a part of the 7 sins who are her soul mates? MFC has a detective stalker guy who is trying to capture her and happens to have one of the 4 locked in his basement.
She then meets number 2 guy and then just casually fucks number 2’s mum and dad. Mum and dad need her to make a baby, and lo and behold the baby is created within 24 hours and suddenly appears calling our MFC mum.
Oh and the end of the world is coming, not sure where stalker guy has disappeared to, I guess he will make an appearance sometime soon.

Like many others, I DNF at 20%. The author has a note at the beginning explaining that this is one of their earlier works and to keep that in mind. I did. I can see the authors potential, honestly. However, you can definitely tell that this is something from the beginning of their career.
As stated by other frustrated readers, this was super hard to follow what was happening. The author wrote as if we knew the proverbial inside joke that's being told...but we don't. There is also a problem with keeping plot points in line. First, the FMC doesn't know what the runes mean, but then we do, then we have a nightmare in full detail and don't know what it was about but it was about a prophecy but she can't remember the dream, but then we have to fulfill the prophecy that she supposedly didn't remember.
We also have a huge amount of useless information, useless POVs, and random things thrown at us. The sex scenes up to this point were watered down and uneventful, and I -hope- that was done on purpose like maybe the good stuff comes with the mates. I don't know because I can't continue.
Overall, I kept the authors' message in mind and tried but could not in good conscience recommend this to others. It was REALLY bad. SUPER bad. BUT!! I will definitely check out newer works because, as I said, there was potential and I hope others do as well.

Overall, I kept the authors' message in mind and tried but could not in good conscience recommend this to others. It was REALLY bad. SUPER bad. BUT!! I will definitely check out newer works because, as I said, there was potential and I hope others do as well.

I've read books Thorn has co-authored and liked them, so I had high hopes for this one. I have never given a book less than a 3-star rating before, but I couldn't stand this book. If my OCD would have let me DNF, I would have stopped reading after the first part. I have a fairly high tolerance for books with no plot or character development as long as they make up for it with great sex scenes. This book had none of the above. And for a book about a succubus (she reminds us she's a succubus every few pages), that's a fatal flaw.
For one, the first time Sonja has sex with her second guy, we see only bits and pieces of it through the eyes of one of her others lovers, and he says he can only see so much because of how fast their moving. Um...what? Seriously? Thorn also has several other opportunities to give us some good sex scenes, and she passes on them. Extremely disappointing.
As for the plot, everything seemed very random, and supposedly major events were handled in seconds. I think the demon spawn invasion was thwarted in a page and half. Everything was covered very superficially.
There was also no relationships or character development. Two of her guys are introduced early and then disappeared until the end of the book. I want to see interaction!
In short, I couldn't wait for the book to end.

Made it to 33%.
I liked the book in the beginning. Although, this was a first for me reading sapphic, even if it wasn’t entirely so. But regardless, I liked the story, but it eventually started to feel disjointed, unfinished at times. We are flipping through different peoples heads without a clear picture ahead, with plot points unfinished or forced, under developed characters, and it was throwing me off. What at first felt like a story about a succubus that refused to have sex with human men so she didn’t up killing them, and to be faithful to her girlfriend, quickly turned into some self selfrightceous woman who didn’t do anything to stop that SA scene, knowing that Luke was being manipulated into having sex with her without consent from both parties.
There are also inconsistencies throughout the story. One instance, it mentions that Sarah is stabbed with a dagger.
But later, it mentions it was a bullet.
This book needs some work in pacing, editing and balance.
And how in the world does a succubus, a fallen Angel, and an incubus king have a baby three days later?

Through bleary eyes I watched in horror as Anderson took a dagger and plunged it into Sarah’s bosom
But later, it mentions it was a bullet.
It hadn’t been phased by the juice I’d taken from it to heal Sarah from a bullet wound.
This book needs some work in pacing, editing and balance.
And how in the world does a succubus, a fallen Angel, and an incubus king have a baby three days later?

Absolute DNF.
I wanted to read this book for one thing and one thing only, and through the 400 pages I managed to read I guess it did what it had to, but boy was it a task to even get to that point.
The story building was so lazy, everything was rushed, nothing was properly explained and it felt like the author was forcing the drama by dropping key story points every other paragraph. No buildup, no groundwork laid, just BAM, here's this random key piece of information to shock you into keeping reading because I have 0 creativity to actually create a good story. Most of the things didn't even make sense, just when you were trying to understand some weird, random plot point you got hit with another that made even less sense.
The dialogue was corny nine times out of ten. So many forced emotional scenes... I couldn't roll my eyes enough. The author tried so hard to reinforce the fact the main character hated herself in so many scenes of emotional outbursts and drama that it ended up making her so unlikeable, it was unbearable.
Just lazy, bad writing overall. Go read something else and don't waste your time on this mess.

I totally loved this series! Excellently written.
Without giving spoilers, I love that the Main character Sonya was able to preemptively explain the struggle of her story, prior to getting into it. It was almost like a preface to the story. Then, the creativity of the author takes over, and her adventure begins! I also love that her journey is hers, and even though perspective is shared with her partners(including her original partner she starts off with), her mates don’t control or cramp her story.
This series is full of succubi and incubi, vampires, dragons, sirens and mermaids, and others that have to be explained. I love the respect of religion, even from various, previously known as “evil” species. The variety wasn’t hard hard to follow, and I loved how there was a mix, plus the mysteries to be unraveled.

J R Thorn is a fantastic author. These books were not my "norm" and I was given them in exchange for a review. I did find it a bit difficult to keep up with all the different characters though. There’s a lot going on in this series so make sure you keep up. I did have to keep rewinding as I wasn't concentrating enough! I usually listen to the audiobooks whilst doing things, housework, gardening, gaming etc..... i did struggle to do that with this book as I really had to concentrate and I got lost quite often. So therefore it took a lot lot longer to listen to. However, after all of this, it was another brilliant piece of writing from J R Thorn. Great plot, great characters and the narration was spot on.

DNF: Tedious
This was an interesting concept, but nearly 30% of the way into the book there was absolutely no character development. I wasn’t interested in the succubus savior. The random incubus, angel, dragon - there was no tension. It was so easy. Also, not sure I saw trigger warnings but there is definitely non consent in this book. While I have no issue reading it if I choose to (because of a very clear trigger warning) - dunno if JR Ward thought because we were dealing with succubus and incubus forcing someone with supernatural powers was somehow ok.
I just don’t understand how this book has such incredible ratings. Thorn is so inconsistent in writing. One of my favorite series is written by Thorn. This? Lazy. Lazy storytelling with a plot that is just meh. Pass.
