HER EVERY MOVE by Kelly Irvin is an edge-of-your-seat Christian romantic suspense by a new to me author that I could not put down.

A bomb goes off at a library sponsored climate change debate in San Antonio.

Jackie Santoro, librarian and event coordinator loses her best friend in the bombing and yet still becomes a prime suspect due to her family’s past. Detective Avery Wick has doubts about Jackie’s guilt, but he also cannot exonerate her.

As the bombings continue around the city, Jackie is forced to continue with the plans for the annual Caterina Ball which funds the cities’ libraries for the year. Avery and Jackie know this event could be the next target for the bomber and they must work together to unmask the bomber before the death toll rises even further.

I was completely wrapped up in the chase for the bomber. Ms. Irvin’s pacing and plot development kept me on the edge-of-my-seat as each twist and new suspect emerged. While the bomber was on my list of suspects, the ending was still handled well and was satisfying. Avery’s handling of his long-time friend’s mental health decline added not just suspense, but also empathy to the story.

I loved that the protagonist, Jackie Santoro is a librarian and all the references to her life-long love of books and libraries. She is a strong heroine protagonist who follows her beliefs and feelings in her personal life as well as her professional one. Avery Wick is a detective, who while hardened by his years of seeing the worst of humanity on his job still has empathy for others. Their relationship evolves over the investigation and chase for the bomber at a realistic pace. The secondary characters are fully fleshed and add to the depth of the story without being just placeholders.

This is a Christian romantic suspense so there are no sex scenes in this romance, but the romance between Jackie and Avery grows realistically throughout. This book did have more inclusion of religious beliefs and prayer than other Christian romantic suspense books I have read, but the inclusions are not gratuitous.

I recommend this book for an exciting romantic suspense read and I will be checking out more of this new-to-me author’s work.

Did the librarian plant the bomb? You have to read the Irvin's latest suspense novel to find out if Jackie was the one to place this bomb at her own event.
You can never go wrong with Irvin's books she is a master story teller.
This was a 4 star book you can not miss. I recommend it.

Librarian and event coordinator Jackie Santoro is the suspect at her own event. She has planned this climate change event bringing in a full house. Then the deadly bomb detonates. Was her event just a front for the revenge she had planned?
The author's suspense books always have me guessing. The tension builds quickly in this fast paced thriller keeping me on the edge of my seat til the end!
Very talented author I always look forward to reading her books.

Wow! This book made me keep turning to the pages to find out who the bomber is. This is a new author to me and a genre that I don't normally read, but I really enjoyed this book! There was a lot of suspense entwined with a lot of drama! I definitely enjoyed it! I loved that she was a librarian as well. Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the arc. The opinions are my own

This was a truly new experience for Christian fiction and I don't mean that in a good way.
You may think this is a suspense book, but you'd only be partly right. First and foremost, it is a book meant to push liberal views in your face constantly. There was extreme steryotyping done of those with opposing viewpoints and the characters are not tolerant in the slightest.
Note to the main character: Show me why you believe what you believe instead of lecturing on why someone is a bad person if she doesn't believe what you believe.
I quit 1/3 of the way through because I could not take any more of that crap.

1 Star

Content (up to 33%): many mentions of suicide, comments about race, LGBT, global warming (Greta Thunberg also), steryotyping of Muslims

Her Every Move kept me up reading way too late! Kelly Irvin has outdone herself in this romantic suspense novel! One thing I loved--Jackie's unwavering faith. Even though she questioned God, she didn't lose her faith. This contrasted with Avery who had seen so much of the bad side of life and struggled with his faith.

Jackie is a strong character and determined to find out who was framing her family in these bombings. Kelly Irvin filled the story with twists and turns the reader doesn't expect. Although Her Every Move is part of a series, this is a stand-alone--you don't have to read the other two books in the series...but you'll want to!

Avery thinks Jackie might have something to do with the bombing. That she was seeking revenge for the death of her father who committed suicide after being accused of wrong-doing. It was fun to watch him go from being suspicious to falling in love with her.

I was also glad this was a story about libraries and a librarian. I don't think people realize just how much our libraries do in our communities. And I loved the secondary characters in the story.

Her Every Move is Christian fiction, but the story's use of faith is shown in the characters' reactions to their circumstances.

It was pretty good, though the characters were all very similar, making it difficult to tell them apart. The book was also very political, which would be great if I understood it more. I'm only 15 so I had trouble keeping up sometimes lol. I recommend it to adults or young adults. On the plus side, the romance was very cute and made me smile so great job on that Kelly! I also really enjoyed the main character because I have so much in common with her. (She loves cats, books, Jesus, etc...:) I definitely recommend it!!!. I'd love to hear what anyone else thinks about it!?

** “She refused to let the doubt in. Without faith, she had no weapon big enough to stand against this enemy.” **

Kelly Irvin delivers another incredible romantic thriller with “Her Every Move.”

Jackie Santoro, adult collections and event coordinator at San Antonio’s Central Library, is excited about the climate-control debate she has planned — until a bomb goes off, killing several important people in her life. And when Homicide Detective Avery Wick thinks she might have something to do with it — seeking revenge for the death of her father — she sets out to prove him wrong, all while slowly falling for the prickly detective.

As law officials race to stop the madman responsible for death and mayhem around the city, Jackie must prove her and her family’s innocence.

“Her Every Move” is an incredibly fast-paced, action-packed, heart-thumping story filled with plot twists that leave the reader guessing until the very end, as well as extremely flawed characters trying to overcome past failures and tragedies.

Irvin also does a great job of including a number of great themes in her story, like an unflinching faith can offer a silver lining in dark and unfathomable moments; we must forgive 70 times seven; “Do what you do best. Pray”; dealing with the plank in our own eye; exacting justice; dealing with loss; having a faith that moves mountains; asking God to help us in our unbelief; and sometimes actions have unintended consequences.

The love of reading and libraries is a huge undercurrent in “Her Every Move.” As Jackie tells Avery: “Reading is a gift. I read when I can’t sleep. I read when I’m sad. I read when I’m happy. Reading gives me joy, takes me places I’ve never been, and I learn things. What person wouldn’t want that gift?”

“Her Every Move,” due out Feb. 9, is a standalone novel and another incredible Irvin offering. Fans of authors like Lynette Eason, Terri Blackstock and Patricia Bradley will love it.

Five stars out of five.

The worst day of Jackie Santoro's life had been when her father committed suicide, but that was about to change. Jackie, a librarian, had arranged a debate between a climate-change activist and an anti-climate-change activist. The debate had gone well, until someone set off a bomb, killing one of her best friends, Estrella Diaz, and several others. When Jackie remembers that she passed a backpack left near the front of the room to the Saudi caterer before the program, Detective Avery Wick acts as if she and the caterer are suspects.

Another explosion injures her mother and kills Jackie's mother's best friend, a woman who has been an unofficial aunt to Jackie, her sister and her brother. That explosion removes her from the suspect list. Jackie determines to find out who is committing these crimes before any more people she loves suffer, but Detective Wick wants her to stay out of it to protect her.

This fast-paced novel kept me wondering until the end. The characters were distinctive and interesting. Although this was a Christian novel, the author mentions Avery's cursing several times, though there's is nothing graphic and specific. Guilt's destruction and forgiveness are a couple of the story's themes.

Some of the politics in this book rubbed me the wrong way. One thing I really couldn’t stand behind was the many mentions of building altars to honor human beings. It’s very clear in the Bible that altars are only to be built in honor of God. Another thing I struggled to understand was the reason for the leading man’s having been divorced. It wasn’t for adultery on either party’s part, so I’m not sure how there were biblical grounds for their divorce. Considering this is a Christian fiction book, I feel that the guidance in the Bible about divorce is applicable. Something else that bothered me was that the leading man cursed a lot (usually under the guise of “he cursed” and similar phrases). Ephesians 4:29 tells us “no foul language is to come from [our] mouth[s].” The use of alcohol in the book seemed overly frequent.

On the positive side, I did find it intriguing that a librarian was the prime suspect for an act of terrorism. That was new and fascinating. I would have liked to see more scenes take place in the library, though. I also enjoyed the fact that there was a Saudi American who was trying to break through stereotypes against people from Saudi Arabia. This was a fun aspect to the story.

The thriller aspect was well written with plenty of good plot twists, so I’m sure other readers will love this book. I wish I could have enjoyed it better, as the premise sounded amazing.

Kelly Irvin gives us a fast pace thriller with so many surprises, and yet you wonder whom is going to survive to the end!

We have a young woman Jackie Santoro who work at the San Antonio Central Library, and among other duties is an event planner. Which is what she is doing as the book opens with a blast, yes, a bomb goes off and among the casualties is a life long friend and then she becomes a suspect.

Then we meet Detective Avery Wick, and he is doing his job as he investigates Jackie, but with the twist and turns here, she begins to look more guilty.

The lengths some people go for hate, and the people they hurt, and I didn't figure out whom was responsible until the very end, even then it was hard to believe.

If you like suspense that has non-stop action and keeps you guessing right to the end, this one has it!

I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Thomas Nelson, and was not required to give a positive review.

A bomber is attacking San Antonio’s government officials during large events. Jackie, the female protagonist, is a well known librarian who happens to be the daughter of a man facing white collar crimes, that ended up committing suicide.
The detective on the case initially suspects that Jackie has something to do with the bombings to seek revenge over her father.
Through the course of events he becomes smitten with her and seems to not be able to set boundaries. Is Jackie the one who is bombing the tourist attraction spots? How can he find out and how will it end?

This is the first Christian suspense/mystery novel I have read. It was very refreshing to hear words like be blessed, and God be with you and prayer in a book where people had lost their lives. It rang true to me.

HER EVERY MOVE by Kelly Irvin

A librarian main character? I definitely want to read it. Together with Avery, a homicide detective, they try to uncover the real killer. This book doesn’t waste it’s time. After reading just a few pages, the first bomb explodes. The varying persons of interest have kept me turning page after page. So many unanswered questions. Lots of suspenseful events that made me put it down a couple of times. There are some vivid descriptions too of the explosion aftermath. I feel sad reading and thinking about it. It’s fiction but it feels real. Jackie and Avery have gone through so much and in their time together they felt some affection for each other. I like the waiting time they gave each other until things settle down. I think I knew who did it but changed it a couple times based on new updates. It’s a shock to know the truth. This book talks about politics, religion, race, culture, family and faith in God. When faced with multiple hardships in life, do you let your doubt seep in or continue to trust in His goodness? 3.8 stars

Loved this fast paced sit on the edge of your seat thriller!
I think in my opinion this is the best one yet!
Irvin has added the right amount of faith elements and I really enjoyed watching God at work here.
I loved that the characters were realistic and flawed. No one isn't perfect. Not even cops but I know that most do their best.
I think that my favorite thing was the guessing as to who dun it. I thought I had guessed correctly but even I was surprised at the end. It wasn't who I thought it was.
Lots of twists and turns that will have Irvin's fans screaming and shouting at Jackie and Wick (and a few others as well)./as they try to find out the reason behind the bombings.
Some of this story will have you sighing in relief too.
I have a few favorite scenes in this book as well but I won't say because I don't want to spoil the book.
Overall, a great book! I finished just a little while ago around 2:30 am. I was sad to see the book end.
I highly recommend!

I received a copy of Her Every Move in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Her Every Move is a thrilling mystery written by Kelly Irvin, one that is infused with both romantic suspense and Christian Fiction.

There are times when it feels like the hits just keep on coming. Jackie Santoro is the prime suspect in a bombing – as it's believed she's attempting to avenge the suicide of her father. She knows of her innocence, but it's going to take more work to convince everyone else of that fact.

Especially as she's forced to continue with her plans of attending the Caterina Ball, another likely target for whoever is really behind these attacks. Will her actions help to exonerate her, or put her further into harm's way?

“Adrenaline pumped through Jackie's veins and left a metallic taste in the back of her throat.”

Her Every Move is very much a quick and thrilling read. It's one of those books that will happily entertain you on a cold and snowy day (speaking from personal experience here). This is a book that has a little bit of everything.

It blends together thriller and mystery elements, Christian fiction, and romantic suspense fairly flawlessly. The end result is an entertaining read, one that doesn't delve too deeply in any one direction. But instead sits comfortably in the center of it all.

One of the things I really enjoyed while reading Her Every Move is how hard it was to suss out who really did the crime. Not because they were visible characters – but because there were so many viable options introduced along the way. It made for a surprisingly complex mystery.

If you're looking for a realistic mystery novel, this isn't the book for you. However, if you're looking for something suspenseful, with a dash of romance, then the odds are good that this is a novel you'll enjoy.

This review was originally posted on Books of My Heart

Review copy was received from NetGalley. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

I enjoyed the fast paced action with a slow burn romance in the background. Her Every Move had plenty of mystery with a broad range of investigations at a frantic pace to try to prevent further deaths.  The world is richly built with a large cast of characters.  Our main characters are Jackie and Avery.

Jackie works at the library and is an event planner for them.  She is well read, knowledgeable about politics and news.  Her family background has scandal and disfunction which makes her a remote suspect.   She is a strong, compassionate woman with honesty and integrity to guide her.  Her family of grandparents, mother, sister and brother are not as well developed.  Her friend, Bella, who works at the newspaper is a little more clearly defined as part of the story with all these events and the investigation.

Avery is a homicide detective.  He is about ten years older than Jackie and divorced.  Avery is good at his work and devotes himself to it.  He is fair and has pretty good instincts.  We get a sense of his partner and co-workers and the other members of the task force, but they are not in the foreground.  A more clear character is his ex-wife, who is a lawyer and becomes somewhat involved in representing a suspect, Mehrer.

There is lots of suspense and very little romance.  I liked this quite a lot. I cared about Jackie and Avery, and others, not wanting them to be hurt.  Jackie, her mother and Mehrer,  all have TSTL moments resulting in life and death situations.  After the initial bombing, why don't they understand how dangerous this killer is?   In the end, Jackie and Avery solve the mystery of who and why.

Excerpt:

A steady stream of patrons stood and edged toward the center aisle. A low murmur swelled to the sound of hundreds of people all talking at once. Soon they’d be in front of Jackie, impeding her progress from the parking garage and on the narrow, one-way downtown streets of San Antonio.

“Great job, Jackie. Looks like your boss was wrong.” Sandoval’s constituent services director, Tony Guerra, sauntered up the aisle toward her. “Climate change opponents can coexist amicably in the same space. And so can city manager and city council staff.”

“Thanks, but it took a whole host of partners to make this happen. And it’s not over yet.” Jackie stuck her hand on the door lever that would release her to the Tobin’s massive lobby.

She liked Tony, which was a good thing since he’d asked Estrella to marry him. However, he wore his political ambitions like an obnoxious neon-pink tie.

“I have to go. I want to make sure there are no last-minute snags with the reception. Then it’s back to fine-tuning the altars for the Catrina Ball. It’s only a week away, and I’m behind because of the debate.”

“You never let up, do you? Are we still on for the Spurs game tomorrow—”

A powerful force knocked Jackie from her feet.

Her skull banged on the hardwood floor.

Sharp projectiles pelted her face in a painful ping-ping.

What’s happening?

Estrella? Tony? Bella?

Muffled screams and even her own moaning seemed strangely distant. “Estrella? Tony? Bella?”

If they answered, Jackie couldn’t hear them. She dragged herself onto her hands and knees. Glass and sharp metal pierced both. She forced open burning eyes.

Heavy black smoke shrouded the hall. Metal and debris like deadly confetti showered her. She raised her arm to her forehead to protect her face from the remnants of folding chairs and electronics.

Warm blood dripped from her nose. The acrid taste of smoke and fear collected in her mouth. Her stomach heaved. Her pulse pounded so hard dizziness threatened to overcome her.

No, no, no. Do not pass out. People need help.

Shrieking alarms bellowed.

Water, like torrential rain, poured from above. Rain, inside? Her ricocheting thoughts made no sense. Jackie shook her head. Neither the smoke nor the clanging in her brain subsided.

Sprinkler system.

The smoke had triggered the sprinklers.

Where there’s smoke there’s fire. The old cliché ran
circles in her mind like a children’s nursery rhyme.

Estrella’s mama and papa would never forgive Jackie if something happened to their sweet daughter. Mercedes and Mateo always saw Jackie as the instigator of trouble. And they were usually right.

Ignoring pain and panic, she crawled forward. Sharp metal bit into her skin. Where were her shoes?

Finally she encountered a warm, writhing body. “Tony?”

“What happened?” He struggled to sit up. Blood poured from an open wound on his scalp, his nose, and a cut on his lip. “I have to get to Estrella and Diego.”

He might have yelled, but Jackie could barely make out the words. She leaned back on her haunches. “You’re hurt. Does anything feel broken?”

“No, but I can’t hear anything.” He wiped at his face. Blood streaked his once crisply starched white shirt. “Why can’t I hear?”

“It’ll pass. We have to get everyone out.”

With a groan, Tony leaned over and vomited on the floor. He wiped his mouth with his sleeve. “Okay, let’s go.”

“Everyone out. If you can walk on your own, evacuate.” One of the contract security guards hired for the debate loomed over them. “The bomb squad is on the way. Go, go.”

“We’re fine. We’ll help get the others out.”

“Negative. Get out, there could be more bombs.”

Only Kelly Irvin could pen a novel that delivers a high body count AND a serious case of the feels!

When a bomb explodes near the end of a climate debate organized by librarian and event planner, Jackie Santoro, she tops the lists of possible suspects. Not because she’s an outspoken activist, but as retaliation for her disgraced father who committed suicide.

Though a local group claims responsibility for the bombing, Detective Avery Wick keeps Jackie as a prime suspect because of her motives. However, he isn’t completely convinced the attractive librarian is responsible for the devastation that took the life of one of her closest friends. When there’s another bombing, Wick is sure Jackie is innocent and tries to keep her close while giving her the room he shouldn’t to clear her name.

But does Jackie have him fooled?

Time is running out as more lives are lost and the library’s biggest annual event nears. Will there be more bombs?

Fantastic writing takes an ordinary plot and turns it into a maze with plenty of obstacles and false exits.

Wick is a by-the-book detective who’s perfectly flawed. His growing attraction and feelings for Jackie cause him to stumble a time or two, but keeps his focus to solve his case and keep Jackie safe.

I was annoyed with Jackie several times because I didn’t feel she took the overall situation serious enough. However, her strength and confidence kept me in her corner. Her father’s death has left her once close-knit family in disarray and she needs to find the person who targeted him as well as clear her name... possibly.

I also enjoyed how the author nails Jackie’s character as a woman of faith. Her beliefs and principles are part of who she is and woven through the story without being showcased, over-the-top, preachy, or judgmental. She’s a dedicated librarian, a top-notch event planner, and a Christian. Period.

The city of San Antonio, Texas and its diverse culture and history are almost as much a character as the setting of this page-turner that will satisfy readers of suspense and romance.

Enjoy!

If you’ve never thought a book about a librarian and a library could be told with edge-of-your seat suspense, then you must read Her Every Move! Yeah - I know. If I didn’t read the book, I probably wouldn’t believe it either. But I’m not lying.

The story is set in the city of San Antonio. It even includes scenes at the most historic, sacred and visited location in Texas: the Alamo. The protagonist (or is she the antagonist?) is really a librarian and event planner. There’s an explosion at one of her events. People die, including the police chief. She is immediately identified as a “person of interest” by an alphabet of authorities - SAPD, FBI, ATF, etc. What ensues can only be described as exciting and original.

I’ll get the “bad” out of the way first. The pacing in the first half of the book reminded me of the hurry-up-and-wait routine I experienced in the military. At times it was quick, but then it slowed down. It didn’t seem to have a natural pace.

That all changed around the middle of the book. The pacing became very steady, building to some type of climax, and I literally could not put the book down before finishing the story. That’s the kind of pacing I love to see in a story.

The characters all seem very real. You probably know people very much like them. They have their little quirks, but they are mostly decent folks who have jobs to do. They also have some skeletons in their closets. It’s a funny thing about those skeletons; they can ultimately make a person do unspeakable things that they normally wouldn’t do.

Although the story is written in the third person, I thought the author did a great job of showing and not telling. Much of the story is conveyed through dialogue. That’s a good thing.

Another good thing is the author’s use of description. All the senses are involved, from the acrid smoke following a bomb blast, to the taste of yesterday’s coffee, to the emotion created when being gently touched by someone during a time of crises.

The Christian aspect of this story is nicely entwined in the action. It does not overwhelm the story, but it does help to define some of the characters. I thought it was very genuine and appropriate.

I very much enjoyed this story - especially the second half of it - and I considered the plot very original. (However, what the author did to Alamo Plaza made me grimace!)

If you want to know more, you’ll have to read the story. I highly recommend it!

It feels like the entire city is in upheaval. With a bomber on the loose, Detective Avery Wick is busy but he is also dealing with a dear friend spiraling downward whose child was killed. The friendship between Avery and Theo is being pushed to its limits. Jackie has her own worries as she is trying to keep moving forward after her family was dealt with the devastating blow of her father’s suicide and surrounding rumors of under the table deals. She has the steel thread of her faith trying to tether her as she controls the chaos that has become her life.

This is very much a suspense book with a peek of ‘will they/won’t they’ romance to keep the reader on their toes. The details and descriptions of the carnage that occurs due to the bombs were easy to visualize yet hard to imagine in such a beautiful city. The author did a wonderful job of presenting current day issues and weaving them seamlessly into her story.

As an added bonus, the author has some great discussion questions at the end to enhance your reading experience or to share with your book club.

From its explosive opening scene to its dramatic climax, Kelly Irvin’s Her Every Move is one high-octane read. A ripped-from-the-headlines plot, a well-described familiar setting, a broad array of hot-button issues, and a large diverse cast made this book remarkably current and incredibly realistic.

This is an excellent suspenseful novel about possible domestic terrorism set in San Antonio. Jackie Santoro was so focused on preparations for the library forum that she didn't think about the backpack that she passed on to the caterer. When a bomb exploded, Jackie knew she needed to pass that information on to authorities. Knowing Jackie's family history, Detective Avery Wick knew that she not only was a witness but also a prime suspect with thoughts of revenge. When more bombs go off, Avery doesn't believe that Jackie is behind it, but he has to follow every lead. I received a free copy of this ebook from the publisher through Netgallery. I love that the book is told through both Jackie's and Avery's point of view. I love that Jackie is a strong Christian and is non-judgmental towards others. I also love the Christian themes about faith and that when expletives were used by a character, the actual words weren't described. This book kept me riveted. Though some of the events that happened in the book were horrifying, they were not described in large detail. I am so glad that I picked up this book and look forward to reading more by this author.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

Everything seems to be going well at the climate control debate that Jackie Santoro organized. That is until a loud bomb goes off and kills several people, injuring many and little did Jackie even think she would be a suspect in the bombing. Sure her family a past with the police force but that didn’t mean Jackie was a criminal. If she goes along with police questioning, Jackie hopes Detective Wick can see she in innocent. But she keeps being in the wrong place at the wrong time. And she keeps looking guilty.

Author Kelly Irvin does and excellent job writing this romantic suspense thriller. And she sure kept me on the edge of my seat and re-reading some of the scenes to make sure I was taking in all in. There is so much tension and drama going on and I love it. This is what makes Her Every Move such a great story to read. And re-read. The characters created my Ms. Irvin were so well thought out and developed so well in the story she did a great job keeping the bomber from exposing himself. I was so back and forth, I thought it could be this one or the other one and it turned out that….well you have to read the story to find out much more about this and everything going in. I kept trying to figure out and then it take a dead end turn. The romance part of the story was kinda slow coming, but it is there and comes to focus with much passion. Over all thus is am awesome read. If you enjoy suspense, this is a must for you.

¯A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. I am not required to write a positive review, the opinions here are mine alone. I am disclosing this with my review in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255.

Don't you just love that last line in the book's synopsis -- "...nail-biting romantic suspense where nothing is certain until the very last page." Ain't that the truth?! Whoo-ey but Her Every Move puts a sharp edge in edge-of-your-seater. I'm still trying to catch my breath and assimilate everything.

Intensity reigns in both suspense and romance as well as familial relationships. And the way the author connects them all into a labyrinth of gnarly goodness is utterly sublime! I hung on every blessed word.

I swear the charged scenes between Jackie and Avery snapped and crackled the air around me as I read. Mild mannered librarian -- snort, what a misnomer! Jackie doesn't let anyone mess with her friends or family and she isn't shy about speaking her mind. :-) Avery has some reservations about this firebrand and even though his gut tells him she's not guilty, he has to follow the evidence wherever it leads. Love a good 'enemies to more' romance and this is definitely that!

And I love the way the author explores the part tragedy plays on faith -- how some draw closer to God while others abandon Him in their anger. It really added an extra depth to an already layered plot and had me examining my own responses when I'm faced with life hurdles.

Romantic Suspense with a nod toward 'thrillerish' and, quite simply, unputdownable.

I was sorely disappointed. This was only second book I have listened to from this author and I was really looking forward to giving this author another try. But I couldn't even bring myself to finish this book after the second reference that one of the characters the main character talks about defends LBGTQ.

I was not impressed with this book to begin with and considered stopping multiple times but kept trying to get through it until the above mentioned issue. Up to the point I gave up on the book, it has an underlying tone of making people who don't believe in climate change to be evil and wrong. It is not out rightly said, it is just an underlying tone. The main character is supposed to be Christian. She is part of a Evangelical green movement (I don't remember exactly what the group was called) and she prays. But it just kind of seems like she is just is portrayed as a religious person who claims to be a Christian and not a true Christian. Maybe she grows in the end but as I said I couldn't bring myself to finish the book.

Aside from that, the author is a really good story teller and has excellent writing skills. But I wouldn't recommend the book due to the content.

Her Every Move is a contemporary suspense novel written by Kelly Irvin.

Summary: Someone just blew up the building Jackie Santoro was in. She survives, but is immediately labeled the prime suspect in the attack.

Detective Avery is determined to find out who committed this horrific crime. Everything points to Jackie-but did she do it? He has to move fast to follow the clues-before more people die.

My Thoughts: If you are looking for action, this book is jam-packed. If you are looking for any type of realistic storyline, this is not the book for you.

I definitely liked the fast-paced action, but I just couldn’t make myself buy into so much happening to one person, the bad guy, or the romance-none of it seemed remotely possible.

Even thought I have enjoyed many of this author’s books, this one definitely fell a little flat for me.

I would like to thank Thomas Nelson for providing me with a free digital copy of this book in exchange for my review. Thank you!

"Why do we think life should be fair?"

Set in San Antonio, Texas, Her Every Move by Kelly Irvin skyrockets off the page with an explosion set off by a totally unexpected killer who will not hesitate to strike again and again if demands aren’t met. Assigned to the case, Detective Avery Wick tries desperately to catch the elusive bomber and still remain immune to the charms of Jackie Santoro, librarian and person of interest amidst all the mayhem.

When a bomb explodes at an event at the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts, Jackie, who helped coordinate the event, barely makes it out alive. Her best friend and four others were not so lucky. The killer calls the media with demands, but that doesn’t stop Jackie from initially making the suspect list. The action detonates in chapter one, propelling the reader into the dark world of murder, horror, and suspicion, relieved only by the physical attraction between Avery and Jackie that reignites and crackles every time their paths cross, which is often. But there is no time for romance when the body count keeps rising, so these two spend most of this electrifying story dancing around their all-too-obvious attraction for each other.

Her Every Move never misses a beat, delivering a sizzling story that rings all too true in today’s world of people toppling over the edge and killing with abandon to retaliate and exact revenge. To balance the hatred and violence, Kelly Irvin weaves in the overarching themes of friendship, family, and forgiveness, with a little romance rounding out the good vibes amidst the grief, anger, and fear. When disaster strikes, family and friends flock together to console and comfort each other; however, some friends and family members are struggling with secrets and hostility, providing even more drama to this already provocative story. The author does an excellent job portraying so many emotions running rampant across each chapter, with strong Christian faith and prayer throughout.

Kelly Irvin knows how to capture the reader’s attention and hold onto it until the very last page. While the writing and plot of Her Every Move are not intricate or complicated, the story is realistic and harrowing because ordinary citizens are scrambling for safety and fearing for their lives as a killer targets large crowds without any remorse for the inevitable collateral damage. How many will be hurt or worse before Avery Wick and other detectives can identify and catch the culprit and keep more bombs from going off in other popular San Antonio locations? Dive into Her Every Move to find out and to discover if dog-lover Avery and cat-lover Jackie will ever see eye to eye and finally do something about their budding infatuation.

"We're all guilty of believing we have plenty of time."

Things get personal when Jackie Santoro’s friend is killed in an event, she coordinated at the San Antonio Central Library. What was supposed to be an incredible fun and interesting day turned into a deadly nightmare. Things get crazy when she becomes a personal of interest. They think she might be seeking revenge for the death of her father years ago.

I like how this author weaves a natural spiritual thread through this fast-paced, page turner with honest, flawed characters you can’t help feeling for and with twists and turns This will keep you reading into the wee hours. I enjoyed the fact that the author includes themes of reading fun and that of the libraries. The main character states, “Reading is a gift….it gives me joy, takes me places I’ve never been, and I learn things.”

The author says, “I love libraries and I love books. Growing up I thought I might become a librarian…it shouldn’t be a surprise that I’ve written a novel in which the main character is a strong, capable, and brave librarian.”

I agree. I work at a library too. I am thrilled when I have the chance to introduce patrons to a new author or book that just released and/or help them gather information for a school project.

This book would work well for your book club meeting as there is so much in this novel to discuss.

Her Every Move started off strong, making sure the reader knew this was a Christian novel from the beginning. I can appreciate the strong foundation and enjoyed the lack of hesitation bringing up both God and prayer in the first two chapters. Faith was blended so well into these characters, being consistently intertwined in everything they did, that it didn't seem awkward or forced. It didn't feel like an afterthought or a hidden agenda, but walked side by side with these characters and felt very natural. So thank you for normalizing religion in a novel and creating such a clean read!

The romance side was filled with a whole bunch of romantic angst that had me rooting for the characters to finally get their acts together and let their walls down. I got all that and a bag of chips. I loved the incorporation of animal lovers and getting to know each pet's personality and the love for books represented throughout. This story was filled with so many little gems!

As for the action and suspense portion of Her Every Move, I thought the plot was explosive (pun intended)! Getting to hear from both a cop and a journalist as the story unfolded was such a fun mix of characters and such a unique perspective. The reader is getting almost opposite thought patterns between the two while there is nonstop suspense with either another phone call coming in or tragedy unfolding.

I would recommend Her Every Move to those that can appreciate a clean read, the romance lovers of the world, and the suspense junkies. This had such a great balance of each that if you don't like one of those elements don't be deterred. There is plenty enough of each individual element that you will have your needs met.

Her Every Move
By Kelly Irvin

For more than a year Jackie Santoro has lived under the cloud of her father's crimes. Crimes that have moved Jackie to the top of the list of suspects when a bomber targets San Antonio and the very people who accused him.

Detective Avery Wick has a feeling about Jackie but he needs evidence not just a gut feeling to remove her from the person of interest list. Though she is on his personal person of interest list. Regardless, someone has San Antonio in their sights.

As the clock runs down on the bomber's demands Jackie isn't about to wait around doing nothing. She's going to do everything she can to help the police discover who has targeted her city, clear her name, and get justice for those whom the bomber stole from her.

What she doesn't know is just how close the bomber is to his ultimate goal...

Her Every Move is another page-turner, ripped-from-the-headlines, unputdownable read from Kelly Irvin. Each new Romantic Suspense she releases is excellent reading. Yes, there are crimes but her work doesn't get into the gross-me-out graphic descriptions that some authors offer in abundance. (Which, I might add, I appreciate as I steer away from graphic anything.)

The cover teaser "The Clock Is Ticking And He's Closing In" is the perfect summary of this book. And throughout it does seem as if the bomber is targeting Jackie or she is in fact the perfect devious mind while carrying out revenge on the city and those who tried and convicted her father in the court of public opinion.

If you are unfamiliar with Kelly Irwin's Contemporary Suspense you should give this book a try as it complete in and of itself. If you are familiar with her work you won't be disappointed in this newest addition to her bookshelf .

I was provided a complimentary copy of this book with no expectations but that I offer my honest opinion. All thoughts expressed are my own.
