Hot for the Doctor is a sweet and steamy, short story with a strong, curvy heroine and a swoon-worthy military hero. It's Book 5 in the Hot for Heroes Series.
Fate doesn't let you choose who you love...
Kortney After blood, sweat, and many tears, I finally got my degree as a pediatric nurse practitioner and dream job in Denver, Colorado. I need a cheap place to stay, so my brother sets me up to live in a room at his old Navy buddy’s home. I don’t need a guy in my life right now. Right now, everything’s going just the way I planned. But that’s when the Universe always decides to throw me a loop. When I meet Dr. Dangerous—my name for him—I’m thrown. He’s got a smile that could sweep even the most love-cynical woman off her feet. I try to stay immune to his smoldering looks and jovial demeanor, but before my boxes are even unpacked, I’m in danger of falling for his bedroom eyes. Can I protect my plans, my body, and my heart, or will the good doctor show me that my dream of a future has him in it?
Foxx A four-bedroom house, a budding career as the newest concierge doctor, and in walks Kortney to complete the picture. My buddies said I lived up to my name with the ladies—sly as a fox. But my love-‘em-and-leave-‘em days are over. When my Naval brother, Kemp, calls me up and asks me to let his sister stay with me, he quickly reminds me of the pact we made when I agree. Siblings are off limits. The more we spend time together, the more I’m realizing limits don’t exist when it comes to love. Can I convince Kortney that her plan for the future includes me and moreover, can I convince her brother my intentions are true and not lose a friendship, too?
Brynn Hale is a Midwest girl who can spot--and swoon over--a hard-working guy a mile away. She believes in winks across a crowded room, guys who do the dishes, a blue-collar alpha will always win a heroine's heart, and a martini or craft beer is the perfect accompaniment to her stories. I am voluntarily reviewing an advanced reader copy of this book.
Kortney has finally achieved her dream she is now a fully qualified Paediatric Nurse only thing is the job that she has been offered is in Denver, packing up her life in Alabama she needs to move quickly so when her brother Kempton offers to find her somewhere to stay she has nothing holding her back. She arrives in Denver and discovers she is going to be staying with Foxx her brothers best friend she wasn’t expecting to see him naked on her arrival to the house nor was she expecting this rush of desire. Knowing that starting anything would be wrong on so many levels she tries to stay away from Foxx but she just can’t she has fallen in love for the first time of her life and she isn’t ready to give it up. Will she be forced to choose between her brother and the man that she loves and how will she react to the secret her brother has been keeping for years?
Foxx was only too happy to help his best friends little sister out so when he called and asked if she could stay with him until she finds somewhere to live and gets settled in her new job he of course agreed. He and Kemp had been through a lot together during their time in the forces. And with Kemp reminding him of the pact that they made of never dating each other’s siblings he agrees. That was all well and good in theory but when Kortney arrives everything he thought he knew about himself and what he wanted changes in an instant, he recognises his other half but how easy is it to break the pact that he made with Kempton and surely Kortney isn’t interested in him, even with her eyes telling a very different story. Will he have to choose between his best friend and his one true love?
Short and sweet, I actually like the little bit of drama that came at the end of the book. Really would recommend this book, it’s totally safe with a more than perfect ending. 4* Read
This former Marine has a whole new mission...but it will involve breaking his bro code
Hot for the Doctor by Brynn Hale is the fifth book in the Hot for Heroes series with each book written by a different author. This is the story of Kortney Williams and Dr. Foxx Peters. Kortney is twenty-seven years old and has just moved to Denver from Alabama to start her new career at Rivers Pediatrics as a licensed PNP (Pediatric Nurse Practitioner), after having graduated recently. Her older brother Kempner has arranged for her to rent a room from his best friend and fellow former Marine doctor, Foxx Peters. Let's just say that her first time meeting him is more than a little eye opening and from there things heat up at a fast pace. Foxx is almost forty and grew up in Denver and came back after he left the Marines. He trained as a Pediatrician but while in the Marines worked on the U.S.N.S. Comfort in emergency medicine. When he came back to Denver he was hired by Rivers Pediatrics and settled into life again. Foxx has a past, which is why he earned the nickname Sly Foxx. But when his best friend and fellow Marine doctor Kempner slapped him and made him man up he did. One look at Kortney and Foxx is head over heals for her. But there is a bro code promise that he and Kempner made when they were in training.......neither could date the others sibling. But that promise is about to be shattered and the consequences be damned for Foxx as he fights against but just can't help falling for Kortney within a couple days of meeting. For Kortney she is thinking all sorts of things, with a lot of them coming out of her mouth in funny and unexpected ways.
This is a funny and sweet, OTT insta-love romance between an older man and younger woman with the taboo twist of best friends sister/brothers best friend. I liked this story and found it quite enjoyable. My only issue is that the book could use another round with a good proofreader as it was annoying the number of errors that I spotted without trying, and it broke up the flow of the story. It was a shame as this should have been a 5 Star rating but instead is 4 Stars. But even with this I still liked the story and the characters.
Kortney is a pediatric nurse practitioner. Her brother, Kemp, makes temporary arrangements for her to stay in the large house his buddy Foxx Peters owns in Denver. Foxx and Kemp worked in emergency medicine in the Navy but Foxx had been trained as a pediatrician. They haven't seen each other for a few years, but they both agreed to keep their pact with each other that siblings are off limits as far as dating and relationships went. But that was before Foxx actually met the grown-up Kortney he hadn’t seen in quite a few years! To make it even more difficult, they end up working together and she’ll be shadowing him to see how they work here!
The chemistry between the two of them is sizzling. Things between them finally get to the point where Foxx needs to make the decision about whether he wants a future with Kortney or he wants to keep his word to Kemp. He is afraid Kemp will never accept his and Kortney’s relationship. But he also doesn’t feel that he can give her up. What will he decide to do?
This was a great story line that really presented a difficult situation by having to make a choice between love and loyalty where one or both of the people Foxx cared about was going to be terribly hurt. The characters and their interactions are so good that the reader can see how they all feel. Grab your copy and see what they decide and if something can be done so that all three of them can be happy with the decision.
Kortney had just graduated as a pediatric nurse practitioner. She has gotten a job far from home but her big brother, Kemp, has a navy buddy that lives there so he arranges for Kortney to stay with his buddy. Foxx is a pediatric doctor and Kemp's best friend. When Kortney arrives at Foxx's home, it's there is an obvious electricity between them. Then they find out they are working in the same practice so they are thrown together again. Kemp is not happy about his baby sister being wooed by Foxx and he makes that abundantly clear. Can Foxx and Kortney keep their attraction at bay?
This was a fun short steamy read with strong characters. Even though a short read, the characters have background and depth. I like that the two are honest with one another about their feelings rather than beating around the bush. The conflict with Kortney's brother is well done.

This is a part of a multi author world The books are quick fast read that only take about thirty minutes to read so are perfect for when you don't have a lot of time I already know most of the authors in the world but it is a perfect way to introduce yourself to some new authors
Kemp and Foxx where naval buddies and they made a pact that Foxx who had a bit of a reputation with the ladies was to never go after Kemp's sister Kortney. Now Foxx has retired and Kemp needs someone safe for his sister to live in as she has just got a great job as a nurse in Denver He calls on Foxx who lives there and begs a room in his home for her but reminds him of the pact at the same time. The first time Foxx sees Kortney he knows she is it for him but van he break his naval brothers trust You will have to read to see
Foxx and Kempton are army brothers (and doctors) who vowed to have a code - siblings are off limit. Kourtney has just gotten a job in Colorado and needs a place to stay. Kemp has her set up to stay with Foxx. The two meet and there is instant chemistry. Foxx is ready to start a relationship with her until Kemp calls and reminds him of his code, and that Foxx is a manwhore and not good enough for Kourtney. But Foxx has changes his ways years ago. Kourtney doesn’t know that she will be working at the same practice as Foxx. The two can’t stay away from each other and sleep together. Guilt sets in again when Kemp calls, not understanding the code since Foxx does not have a sister, Kourtney learns her brother is gay. Kemp comes into town to make sure Kourtney is ok, finds out she knows about him being gay. Drama with OW and knowing Foxx’s manwhore ways Kemp leaves with Kourtney. After everyone talks, all is forgiven. Epilogue with a wedding for Kemp and Foxx’s brother!
I adore everything Brynn Hale writes, and this is no exception! Kortney and Foxx are sweet, intense, dedicated, and loving. They also have to navigate the rough waters of instant attraction, working together, and trying to figure out their relationship before telling Kortney's brother, who just happens to be Foxx' best friend. The future is looking bright until an old friend of a Foxx decides to cause some trouble. Help comes from a surprising source, and all is golden. With some hilarious moments and inside jokes, passion that sears the pages, and a heartwarming connection, this is a delightful story. Happy Reading!!
i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the story of Kortney and Foxx. Kortney is starting a new job in Denver, so she goes to stay with her brother's best friend Foxx. When Kortney meets Foxx, she is instantly attracted to him and wonders if she can get closer to him. Foxx wants Kortney for himself and knows she is the one for him instantly, but he made a pact with her brother not to touch her and he is torn as to what to do. I really loved this story. I really liked Foxx and Kortney together. Kortney was an adult and should be allowed to choose for herself. I think Foxx tried to keep his promise, but he was too drawn to Kortney. Good one.
I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of this book via Booksprout. Lately, insta-love stories seem to be my thing and this series and a few others kinda feeds that need in the moment. They say when it happens, you just know and after 2 days, apparently Foxx and Kortney just knew. I liked their story, but I felt for them when I read the bonus epilogue. In this story, nearly everyone has a secret. The only differences are that these secrets don’t cast a pall over the main characters or ruin the HEA for all involved.
He made a promise of hands off, she is determined to keep him. Will she let herself fall? Will he get what he has longed for?
Have to say I laughed at their first meeting and her thoughts during it. I loved how he was determined to prove that he was is in for the long haul and not just for the moment. I didn't blame her for being scared, but loved how she was went back to make it right. Another steamy Brynn Hale quick read.

This was another awesome story by Brynn Hale. Kourtney has worked hard and now she is finally a pediatric nurse practitioner. When she moves to Denver and needs a place to stay, her brother Kemp gets a buddy from their military days to let her move in him. Foxx agrees to let Koutney move in but he doesn't expect the intense attraction he feels toward her. He is a pediatric doctor and he just will also be working with Kourtney. Foxx knows as Kemp's younger sister she is off limits but sometimes rules are meant to be broken. How will her brother react? Great insta-love story!
"Hot for the Doctor is a sweet and steamy, short story with a strong, curvy heroine and a swoon-worthy military hero. Fate doesn't let you choose who you love." Absolutely adored this story. This was an emotional rollercoaster. Made me tear up. Fell in love with the characters. They had wonderful chemistry. Well written. A very enjoyable read. Highly recommended.
The author has given us characters we can care about. When Kortney gets a job in Denver, she is invited to stay at the home of Foxx, friend of her brother. They find an instant attraction, however, because of the bro-code they try to ignore their feelings.

Sexy doctor meets sexy nurse and sparks fly. Foxx is foxy and even though they have just a slight misunderstanding, they can’t stay away from each other. I love that we also get Kemper’s story somewhat at the end because it seemed as though fate was playing with them. It’s a short story but with enough backstory that it doesn’t feel as though I was left hanging.
Foxx is a doctor who made a pact with her Navy friend Kemp. Kort is Kemp’s sister and after finishing her degree as a pediatric nurse practitioner, she needs a house to live near her new work. Foxx and Kort’s lives starting to be difficult when they start dating. Secrets were kept for a long time and suddenly they out of the bag. There is some drama too. Well, it was fun to read.
Not my favorite but cute. Had some funny moments. Way less depressing than the other books in this series. The epilogue is titled incorrectly which confused me and ruined the flow of the end of the book. I also didn’t love that the epilogue focused on secondary characters instead of giving us a HEA for this couple.
This is a short sweet romance. Foxx and kemp were military doctors together and they made a pack. When Foxx finally sees kortney he has to decide what is more important kortney or his pack with her brother. I voluntarily reviewed this ARC.
Kortney needs a place to stay until she can find an apartment. Her brother's best friend Foxx let's her have a guest room. The way the meet is epic! There is plenty of sizzle, one major misunderstanding and a priceless epilogue!
A fun and sweet read. The story is easy to follow, the characters fit well together and have amazing chemistry. This is the fifth book in this series. The story is short but it leaves your satisficed. A great read.
This story was sweet, romantic and a fun read. The hot doctor former take them and leave them type, finally found his one in his best friends sister. They fell hard and fast and nothing could stop even not a meddling former fling. Great story with a sweet HEA.
Kortney moves to a new city and her new housemate, Foxx, may be everything she is looking for but didn’t know she needed. Of course her brother Kemp is the typical big brother - living, protective and full of embarrassing stories.
I read an advanced copy and leaving an honest review.
This was one of my favorite short stories. Loved how all of it turned out. I'm not much on reading stories about doctors, don't know why, but this story might change my mind. Enjoyed the family dynamics too. Nice twist. Thanks for a good read. :)
Well written story and well developed characters! Those are the most important things to me in a book! I couldn't put this book down and read it in just a couple of hours!
WOW WOW WOW! I love Foxx and Kortney together! It was such a wonderful and beautiful love story! It was soo soo good and soo soo H.O.T. Thank you so much for the bonus epilogue!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
