Witches, and vampires, and romance, oh my. Mackenzie ‘Mac’ Jones is a Witch for Hire – a private investigator in a hidden supernatural reality that exists right alongside our own. She’s sarcastic, stubborn, and won’t take no for an answer. Of course, she views those as virtues. When she accepts a case from the LaTour vampire clan – one of the richest and oldest families in town – she has no idea what she’s in for. All she knows is that she needs to pay the rent. Now she has to deal with werewolf mobsters… zombie drug dealers… frankenstein butlers… …and one very handsome real-world cop who can somehow see the hidden world that Mac is part of. Will she find love? Pay her rent? Live to see the next sunrise? Only one thing’s for if she doesn’t get some answers soon, somebody’s about to get witchslapped. First book in the ‘Witchslapped’ series! These books are full of sarcasm and are very snarky – so read only if you like to laugh and you aren't easily offended. Also some PG-13 profanity and innuendo.
I was expecting a light cozy mystery. This book was more. It was an urban fantasy investigation with well developed characters, twists and surprises. The main character is a smart investigator and a talented witch. You are taken along in her investigation as it unfolds. There was a hint of romance but this book is really about the main character's investigation and her world. This book was interesting and had twists and surprises. It is a good UFmystery.
New author storms onto the scene with a strong first book that has well developed characters, a gripping mystery that keeps you guessing until the end, romance and a different take on the paranormal world.
IT was a little slow in the beginning and I almost deleted the book but i am really happy that i finished reading your book because it was really a good mystery and I am really looking forward to your next book in this series.
