This wasn’t your typical run of the mill remake of Romeo and Juliet. Normally, I dislike remakes of any kind, but this sweet romance was fresh and different enough to to hold my interest. The characters were well developed, stayed true to form, and wound up much happier than Shakespeare’s famous tragedy.

This author has truly hooked me!! I was LOVING Jonas! He was so awesome. Totally reminded of my amazing hubby. Can’t wait for the next one.

I loved so many things about this: a small town, feuding bakeries, the idea of love vs love itself, couching that among twins... So much fun!

When Jonas compares Brita's secret romance with his brother like Romeo and Juliet I kind of thought that since Axel is such a player and is way too casual about important things like having Brita the flu, her birthday, and her mother remarrying that their romance would end just as tragically. Not with anyone dying, but I was expecting him to tell her he had moved on. I honestly wasn't impressed with Axel from the beginning and didn't see past Brita's infatuation with him what she could possibly have in common with him. I liked Jonas from the start because he's they type of guy who goes out of his way to help others and shows a lot of compassion and concern especially for his new friend Brita. But they have to deal their families' long standing feud where they scream at each other in the street. That did add a lot of humor to the story. I loved little Agnes who is so brave dealing with so much and she has the courage to wave at and make friends with the other side. This was a clean YA romance and there were plenty of interesting side characters including Brita's friends and in both families that I would love to read more about.

It was cute. I liked the potential for chemistry and angst with her dating the wrong brother initially, but the way it all went down was a little underwhelming. When she finally got together with the right brother that the reader is rooting for all along, I needed MORE. So it didn’t quite hit the high chemistry I was going for, even though it was set up really well.
When Brita discovers how Axel had treated her behind her back, I was appalled. But everyone played it off like it was an innocent mistake on Axel’s part. Umm, NO, not buying it. It would have been totally obvious to him that Brita was not on the same page as him, but he didn’t care. What a self-centered person. I think she had every reason to be mad at Josiah for watching it happen on the sidelines without intervening, and feel used by Axel. He legit was happy to lead her on and use her as a convenient makeout partner. Gross. What a jerk. It was hard for me to get over, but no one seemed to care the next day. The whole thing put a sour taste in my mouth.
Btw, I feel like we get told how much she and Axel made out while they were dating, but we don’t really feel the passion between her and Josiah when they’re together. I’m not asking for a sex scene, but I definitely need more passion! The author could up the chemistry in the kissing scenes. Josiah and Britta’s sexual tension was high, but it just didn’t get capitalized on.
Still, the novel had potential and was cute. I think others might really enjoy it.
One last thing- it majorly needs a simple editing. I read it on Kindle Unlimited, and it had sooo many little mistakes. A few examples:
“Something about an upset stomach makes me to shake and stagger around as though I live in darkness.”
“I look my friend.”
“Axle pauses - although not as long as think someone might.”
“I think back our first road trip to school.”
And that’s only a fraction of the typos I stumbled across as I read.

I’m not big into college romance. The biggest reason is the age, 22 is a big difference to even the characters in their late 20s. The college romances I’ve read have been riddled with immature characters.
This book defied that . Yes there were a couple of times when Brita should her naivety and innocence. Of course it’s a play off or Romeo and Juliet and I really enjoyed the way the author wrote it. Brita had this crush on the enemy, Axel. Turns out Axel had a twin brother, Jonas. Axel was a complete player and this is where Brita shows her innocence. Axel shows no interest in being serious with her. I think the only reason he went out with her is bc it was forbidden, a thrill. Time after time it’s obvious it’s just a fling but her innocence was a little frustrating. I mean he tells her to date other people, wasn’t that a huge sign they weren’t exclusive. So while she “dates” Axel she’s friend with Jonas. Jonas is the complete opposite of Axel and I really enjoyed his character. He was steady, supportive and always there for her. Eventually she realizes where her heart lies and chooses Jonas. The way they stand up for each other to there families was brave, I really enjoyed seeing Brita gain her courage with Jonas beside her. I’m looking forward to the next book.

This was so shippy and so cute and had a nice amount of depth. I started with the third installation of this series about Bastien, which I really liked, but then I read Don't Marry the Mechanic which was really underwhelming. But A Little Like Romeo has definitely won me over to Emily Childs completely.
The romance was very cute - from the word jump I was on board with Jonas. I also really liked the healthy dose of growth and development for Brita. She was young and presented as young - she didn't read like a teenager and she also wasn't unrealistically mature. She was a great character and I loved reading her growth. I enjoyed that there were characters in the book who would call Brita out when she was being childish or unreasonable (but also in such a loving way).
This isn't 5 stars only because I felt that the fight towards the end of the book was soo contrived. It didn't sour me to the book, but it did feel like a waste of three chapters. I also thought the grandfathers were so ridiculous and I was not the biggest fan of Axel.
Very fun read, looking forward to following the rest of this series.

A little like Romeo and Juliette but without the tragedy thank goodness!
Wow! This is a little like Romeo and Juliette but without the double suicide. More like a happy ending. Happily ever after. Before I read this book, I read the other two and kept hearing about how Jonas and Brita succeeded in uniting the two feuding families. I’m glad I could read about how Jonas and Brita got to know each other and fell in love. It was a perfectly wonderful love story that gave me the warm fuzzies and smiley face. I was especially proud of them standing up for each other and happy they didn’t back down and cave to both of their grandfather’s anger. If I could change one thing about this book it would be to add Jonas’ POV to the story. And not just a short piece. He sounds like a really brave gentleman that I would like to have known for real. And I especially loved the epilogue. Very creative! I would like to recommend that all young men who fall in love to pay attention to this epilogue. You could learn a few things from it.

DNF@20%. I’m coming to realize that Friends to lovers is not really amongst my favored tropes. The trope inherently is low on angst and conflict, and I crave for more push-pull than what the trope provides.
This story started off okish.. The leads were from feuding families but very quickly become each other’s bffs thanks to the heroine’s dad who encourages them to work together. The hero picks up and drops the heroine to/from work and strikes up a friendship with her. They become good friends and confidantes. From thereon, he agrees to be her wingman as she pursues his brother, who she has a crush on. But, it is the tale as old as time.. Yada yada.. they catch feelings. I mean, it’s the same formula that most friends to lovers book has, but there is the small added conflict of feuding family that is the source of some tension.
On paper, this looks great, like something I would like. However.. maybe it was writing, or maybe I wasn’t in the mood for it, but I just wasn’t feeling this story. The chemistry between the leads was a bit bland.

Let me just say…
…Right off the bat, I did not receive a free copy of this book. I had to pay for it. Maybe that’s why my opinion varies a bit from those who got it for free.
After all the great reviews, and 4 and 5 star ratings, I had great hopes.
I was sorely disappointed. Unless it was written by a High School kid, or written FOR High School kids, I can’t imagine what the other reviewers saw.
Written in an extremely amateurish style, with a very juvenile concept, it left me wanting so much more.
I will assume I am the wrong demographic for this one. Maybe I would have enjoyed it more, had I been in High School. Sadly, that ship sailed long ago.

So pleasantly surprised!
I really like Emily child’s books but when I read the description for this one I was a little hesitant because i don’t fine much originality in enemies to lovers stories. In fact I’m often frustrated while reading them because they usually get pretty ridiculous and are based on flimsy excuses.
I’m happy to say I was totally pleasantly surprised with this one. It was original, the characters and relationship were developed, and it was realistic (more or less). I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I like bakeries and my family is Scandinavian. This story could have flopped and I still would have enjoyed the background details. But the story was NOT a flop!
I enjoyed the main character and the right twin. ;) Book two promises to redeem the less desirable twin, so I think I'll have to check that one out.
Lovely writing, great flow, and fabulous side characters. I will be returning to this world.

I love when I'm enjoying a book so much I wake up in the morning thinking about it and wondering what will happen today with the characters! A little Like Romeo was a nice surprise. By the cover, I expected it to be a simple romantic comedy, but it had much more depth to the characters. I loved it.

I’m hooked on this series now!
First book I’ve read by this author and I’m in love already. Great start to the series. Had me craving sweets and hot chocolate reading it though. Sweet story, a little element of Romeo and Juliet minus the murder and suicides.

Sweet enemies-to-lovers/Romeo and Juliet vibes
I fell for Emily Child's Perfectly Broken rockstar series and have been devouring her backlist. This was a sweet read with a bit of a love triangle and family feud that the author handled well. I can't wait for Axel to find his happily ever after. I would rate this PG for kissing.

A very enjoyable clean read. Well written with very believable and likeable characters - and most importantly the book has a good ending. Even Axel who I didn't think much of early on, improved and am looking forward to his story in the next book.

Sweet and refreshing. It took me a couple chapters to be into it, but then I fell in love with it. It had the sweetest, slow burn romance and I couldn’t read it fast enough.

Much better than Romeo
This was a great book with wonderful characters. I loved the warring families and secret romance. I’ll be reading more from this author.

The more I read, the better I liked the characters and the better the plot became. I am seriously crushing on Jonas. This romance is an excellent start to this new series.

Two families have been enemies for three generations. Think it's about time the war ended? The granddaughter who is attracted to the grandson of their enemy does. Clean enjoyable story about members of the family trying to get their own lives together without letting their families down and making themselves happy. Read now to see how it all turns out. This is from Emily Childs series A Little Love and I enjoyed reading this book. It's Brita's story and how as long as she can remember she has had a big crush on Axel Olsen. The problem is the two families have been feuding and are sworn enemies. But when her grandmother leaves a request for her to fix the families divide she finds she may just like the quieter brooding twin brother Jonas. I really enjoyed this read and can't wait for more.

This is my first time reading something by this author. This was an entertaining and enjoyable read. A fun and unique story and full of great moments, this book will pull you right in and keep you engaged and smiling all the way through. The author does a great job of bringing the story to life with great characters that are lovable and endearing. Loved this story and I definitely recommend it!

Super Sweet Story!
The writing draws you in and keeps you involved throughout the whole story, I found myself in love with not only the characters but also the world that was created.
