Centuries ago, there was a beauty who did not live happily ever after. She fled her vampire Ottoman Prince, who now rules the Primati supernatural on earth with his half-brother Alaric, the terrifying Enforcer. The runaway beauty's only living descendant, seventeen-year-old Stella Avery, is juggling the care of her ailing grandfather with the discovery that life is not what it seems in Portland, Oregon.

Stella’s Romany family shadow her every move and she discovers that an ancient enemy wants her dead. Her best friend, Amanda, reveals herself to be an actual witch and Stella must uncover the truth about the curse that has killed every woman in her family before their twenty-first birthday—or suffer the same fate.

For Alaric, his role as Primati Enforcer means utter loyalty to his brother. Half-angel, half-demon, he has no place in his heart for a mortal. Feared in his own right, Alaric finds himself torn between the law he has protected for hundreds of years and a young girl who cannot be loved without bringing about her own death.

***Thank you, NetGalley for an eArc in return for an honest review.***

This supernatural story is full of twists and turns. This world is filled with magic, and a fully developed world, which can be difficult to navigate while reading.

I was interested with this novel in the beginning, but it was hard to maintain my interest. Threatening your main character’s life in the opening paragraph is a great way to grab your reader’s attention.

The main character, Stella, is cursed to die before her 21st birthday. After this threat, she discovers a world of supernatural creatures she was never aware of.

The world-building was a bit jarring to understand at first and can be seen as overwhelming to some. Unfortunately I was unable to coherently follow this story with its difficulty in explaining the lore of its universe.

Losing oneself in a great book is the sweetest experience.

I finished the audiobook of this urban fantasy last night and y’all, I loved it. It gave me so many Crescent City vibes and you guys know that’s my favorite Maas book. A unique twist on Sleeping Beauty, Everwish had everything I’m looking for in a binge-worthy book. Stella, our main character, finds herself working with a broody, troubled half-angel, half-demon (major Hunt Athalar vibes!) to discover the truth behind her family curse that’s killed every woman in her family before her twenty-first birthday. A fascinating cast of characters (including demons, angels, vampires, and witches), a compelling story, and action at every turn makes Everwish the perfect binge-worthy urban fantasy. Absolutely recommend for fans of fantasy and even people who are curious about fantasy yet haven’t given the genre a shot...I think you’d love Everwish!

Like I mentioned, I listened to the audiobook and can also whole-heartedly recommend that format. The reader does a phenomenal job of bringing the story to life and it left me wanting to listen to other books she’s recorded!

Thanks so much to the author for sending me a copy of the book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

"The mark on my chest and the scars on my hands were a reminder that I had survived a fate worse than death--immortal damnation as a vampire demon with angelic strength."

If you enjoy fairytale retellings, with a YA fantasy twist, this book is for you. There were a few cliches and a few predictable moments but overall I think this was a easy, and interesting read.

This story had Witches, Vampires, a mysterious plot and very likable characters. A heavy dose of insta-love but I felt like it was well done and I liked how even Stella was confused and annoyed by her instant need for Alaric. I think its a great start to the beginning of a awesome series!

3.5/5 🌟’s

As the author, my opinion is biased. I hope it finds an audience who enjoys a headstrong soon-to-be 18 year old who cares more about her freedom than her beauty. An audience who enjoys a wide world full of Primati supernatural creatures and characters and readers who might root for a certain judgmental immortal to find his own happiness. There is always a way to break a curse - isn't there?

Thank you to Books Forward for sending me this FREE E-ARC Copy to review for them as part of their Review Crew.

This was my first time reading a book/series by Amelia Oz so i wasnt sure what to expect but i have to say i really enjoyed this one more then i thought i would. This book reminded me alot of OG Charmed meets Nickelodeon's 2010s Teen Show Every Witch Way.

The Characters were very enjoyable and fun to read about. Vivienne, Stella and Amanda were definately my favorites.

The Setting was beautifully described which made me feel like i was actually in Oregon while reading especially when the scenery was described.

Overall a Phenomenally Fun Book 1 to read in this Fantasy Series about Witches in Oregon!! Can't wait to read Book 2 soon!!

Everwish is Amelia Oz's debut novel that is well written and captivating. The author's ability to create a world steeped deep in our memories of a wonderland is amazingly vivid and familiar.
The story offers much to hook readers and keep them turning pages. From plenty of twist and turns to an array of characters spanning from Witches, Vampires and Nephilims to name a few. Making for a rich diversity of characters that will have something/someone for everyone.
This diversity is second only to the marvelous development of the characters that carries the reader through the story. The story is as much about the characters as it is about the adventure.
A mixture of genres and sub-genres, Ms Oz does a skillful job of mixing paranormal, action, fantasy and romance genres together to create a smooth moving, well paced story that is easy to follow and enjoy, never once confusing or losing me in the adventure.
Especially well done (at least I thought so) is how we come to see the world and the events from both Stella and Alaric's points of view.
The story starts off with a bang and never let's up, bringing the reader along for a ride not soon forgotten.
This is not just a book for the YA crowd, this story offers enough entertainment to be appreciated by readers of all genres and most ages.
One final note, I would be remiss if I didn't mention the cover art. It is a stunningly beautiful cover that only enhances the overall appeal of the book. The midnight blue background, scattered blinking stars, the thin elegant frame work around the edges of the picture to the beautiful Stella in the center.
This is a book that belongs on the shelf of all readers young and old. An investment in entertainment that will always yield a good time.

I was very pleasantly surprised by this book, I requested but admit I wasn’t expecting to love this as much as I did. It’s a fantastic story, well written, full of plot twists executed well, great characters and world building. It’s a captivating story that hooks you in right from the start. I love Stella and Amanda, and Alaric too obviously , a dark and romantic read, very happy reader here.

Everwish follows the main character Stella as she discovers a paranormal world within her own and tries to navigate her attraction to Alaric whilst harbouring a curse passed down for generations. The exploration of kinship and found family in this book were handled particularly well and resulted in very interesting dynamics between characters. Stella at one point states “we have nothing in common” when referring to her found family. This serves to highlight the exploration of what makes a family. The strength and agency that Stella exhibits throughout the plot is also a major positive. Despite the age gap with Alaric, and most of her peers, Stella knows her own mind and is resolute in her decisions. She also has the confidence to make the first move in most of her romantic interactions, something most women in the fantasy and romance genre do not do. It’s a breath of fresh air to have a normal, confident young woman at the centre of the book.

The reason for my rating sitting solidly within the 3 star is mainly that I felt not much excitement occurred in this book, however, I don’t think this is necessarily a bad thing. This is the first book in a series and that was certainly evident. This book exists to set up future books and build the world. On the one hand, I’m grateful that so much care and detail was taken to build the world, especially as this plot involves a lot of magic and mythical beings. However, I do wish a bit more excitement would have happened especially towards the end. There also one very small quote that I took issue with and that was “Amanda and her OCD” in reference to Stella cleaning her room. I do think more care needed to be taken to not use this mental condition to describe such a normal behaviour, cleaning one’s room, as this continues to perpetuate misleading notions about a genuine illness. This was the only real issue with the book though and it didn’t reduce my enjoyment of the characters and the plot, just something I think the publishing industry needs to take more care with.

I look forward to seeing where this storyline progresses and how these characters develop in future books.

The debut novel by this author, and one that is definitely worth a read if you are into witches, ancient curses, and supernatural powers. As the heroine, Stella approaches her eighteenth birthday, she has no idea of the curse on the women in her family that is about to be activated. Nor does she realise that no one in her strange, extended family is quite what they seem, or that even her best friends have been keeping secrets from her.

The novel kicks off with quite a jump – literally – and the reader is plunged instantly into the world of Stella as she tries to make sense of an ever-confusing world. The character of Stella is believable and relatable in that she is so “teenager”. She is at times incredibly mature for her years and capable of making sensible decisions. Then at other times, she behaves in such a rash and reckless manner that I was left rolling my eyes about idiot teenagers who didn’t think their actions through.

The hero, or should that be anti-hero, Alaric, is everything you want a hero to be. Drop-dead gorgeous, brooding, rich, powerful, immortal, and, of course, a supernatural being of awesome power, dubious ethics, and questionable motives.

So far, so predictable. But then nothing is quite as it appears in this novel, and characters refuse to be cliched or put into boxes. Those you believe evil turn out to have softer sides and moral codes, and those you assume to be on the side of good, turn out to have hidden agendas and dark souls.

All in all, EverWish is a fun and engrossing read. The pages turn easily, and the story draws you in right until the last page. There are some touching moments, and one truly shocking plot twist in the middle that had me rereading the page in disbelief. Very well formatted and presented, the writing is lovely and flows nicely. I will certainly be keen to read the next book in the series as soon as it is published.

Thank you Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA) and #NetGalley for giving me an ARC of #Everwish by #AmeliaOz in exchange for my honest review.

5 Stars

17 year old Stella Avery is cursed. All of the women in her family have fallen in love, married young, had a daughter and then been killed with their husbands. No-one has survived beyond the age of 21.

Alaric, Primati Enforcer and half-angel/half-demon is instructed by his half-brother, the Vampire King, to protect Stella as he intends to take her as his wife in a bid to end the curse. His job sees him working with the witches of Portland and Stella's Romany Family to protect her. When he meets Stella face to face something changes and he finds himself torn between loyalty to his brother and his feelings for Stella, especially knowing that her falling in love could trigger the curse and end them both.

This is a fantastic book. It is full of Vampires, Wraiths, Witches, Mermaids, Shades, Angels and Demons. The writing is fantastic and has you guessing right until the very end. Woven throughout the action packed story is a wonderful love story that makes you truly hope for a happy ending.

I cannot wait for the next installment of the series.

Wow, I don't even know where to begin! I absolutely adored this book! I couldn't put it down. The imagery fantastic, the writing divine and the characters loveable! The author weaved such a wondrous world of whimsical and wholehearted adventures!

The stage was left for many more stories to unfold and I truly hope that we will see many more books following this fun fairy tale retelling!

Ya'll NEED to read the amazing book by debut author, Amelia Oz. Dynamic characters evolve in a high paced, beautifully designed world filled with vivid Primati mythical creatures and a strong female MC. She navigates the intriguing, well built world along with her Romany family, witches, vampires, nephilims, and the other MC, a sexy, alluring and captivating half-angel, half-demon who is torn between his oath and his heart, trying to find a way to break the curse that all females in her family succumbed to before their 21st birthday. I can't praise this Author enough and am eagerly awaiting book 2!

Many years ago, there was a beauty who did not live happily ever after. She ran away from Murad, her vampire Ottoman Prince, who now rules the Primati supernatural on earth with his half-brother Alaric, the terrifying Enforcer.

First, let me say this cover is so enchantingly beautiful! This was a great read! I could connect with all the main characters. I truly loved Stella, Alaric, and Silvan the best. The magic was fabulous, and I loved how it was elemental magic—my favorite! There was such beautiful written imagery in this story. I cannot wait to read the next one in this series!

This review is based on an ARC I received in August and my honest opinion is my own.
I LOVED this book and read it in two days, staying up late each night to read. Everwish is one of those books you wish already had the next book available so you can jump back in. The characters were so well done (Witches, vampires, demons and even a female samurai vampire with a secret addiction that made me lol!) and I loved the varied POV between Stella and Alaric. They are so different but their voices were authentic to their unique personalities. I really enjoyed Stella's hate/love relationship with her Romany family (be prepared to laugh) and how the bad guys aren't who you might expect. There were so many plot twists I didn't see coming. The romance was steamy and forbidden. Alaric is a five hundred year old angel-demon hybrid who everyone is afraid of, but not Stella. She challenges him and it was refreshing to read a female character who was flawed but strong and loyal. It was an interesting take, how Stella comes to terms with her own beauty. I feel like there is room for a spin off because I'd really like to know more about Lila and Murad and about Stella's family before her. I hope the second book explains more about the tarot cards and druids. I can't wait for book two and recommend this for fans of paranormal romance.

When Stella is a baby, both of her parents are killed in a car crash. This is because of a curse on the women of her family that causes them, and the person they love, to die before their 21st birthday. After the crash, Stella is eventually found and adopted by her grandfather who raises her into adulthood. What Stella doesn't kno is that many of the people around her are not who they seem and she will soon be running for her life. As Stella is finding out the truth about her family and herself, she meets a man named Alaric who she asks to protect her from the curse. He agrees

I really enjoyed the relationship development between Alaric and Stella. They work together to overcome adversity and Alaric helps guide her through difficult situations and difficult emotions. He also has to face the conflict of doing what he thinks is right for Stella vs. what he wants for himself.

The character development in this story was very well done. Oz was able to construct a world of different warring supernatural beings who all have their own stories and motivations. The ending was definitely a surprise I didn't see coming.

I loved this debut from Amelia Oz! Not only did it have hints of a fairytale retelling of Sleeping Beauty, but curses, prophecies, witches, demons, mermaids, elemental magic, and everything in between. It might sound like a lot, but it's all expertly weaved throughout a tight plot carried by an amazing female character in Stella, and her half-angel, half-demon love interest, Alaric. When Stella discovers there's more to the death of her parents than what she was told, she also finds out she's the latest descendant in a line of women who have all fallen in love and died by their 21st birthday. Intent on breaking the curse, she seeks help from a kind stranger, who turns out to be more than he seems, and her best friend who has been hiding the fact that she's a witch. Secrets are revealed, alliances are forged and broken, there's an action-packed ending, and enough twists to keep the pages turning. The main story wraps up nicely, but as it's just the first in a series, there's plenty of exciting threads left hanging for the next book--which I can't wait to read!

Cursed to die before her 21st birthday, Stella must figure out if there is a way around this curse or inevitable death. She is discovering the world around her is much more than it had seemed. She is starting to find out the truth about herself and her family history. Alaric, Primati Enforcer, was required to give his complete loyalty to his brother who sends him on his mission. Alaric is half-angel, half-demon and has no place in his heart for a mortal female, at least until he meets her.

With the twists, turns, and surprises, the reader will have full attention on the story line and the interaction of the cast of characters as we find out whether Stella is fated to survive or will succumb to the curse. Grab your copy and let the author build up this world for you in the reimagining of the Sleeping Beauty fairy tale.

I got this book as an ARC from NetGalley, it’s about a young girl who finds out that the normal world she lives in isn’t as normal as it seems, she’s surrounded by witches and other supernatural creatures and she faces a curse that could kill her.

This is the first book that I’ve read by this author and I already can’t wait for the next one! There’s a lot that goes on in the story and I had to read it in one sitting, it’s riveting. I loved the supernatural world that was created and there’s a lot of intrigue as well, the characters really keep you guessing as to their intentions and there are plenty of surprises as the story unfolds. If you like supernatural stories then this is a book I highly recommend adding to your reading list.

I found Everwish captivating from the very first page. The book has everything I was searching for: an intriguing plot that kept me rushing, complex characters, imaginative magic, a beautifully and fully developed other world that interweaves with the real world, young romance, and remarkable dialog that sounds like today's seventeen-year-olds, complete with jabs, humor, tenderness, self-consciousness, and a few well chosen curse words. A number of plot twists took me by surprise. I'm excited that this is the first in a series, as the author, Amelia Oz, leaves hanging a number of tantalizing unanswered questions and circumstances. I'm hooked, and I predict you will as well. I can't wait for book 2!

Omg! I loved this book! But I hate that I feel like it left me in a cliffhanging set of mind! Stella and her blood family that she was astranged from for so many unknown reasons, her grandfather that she lived with, the friends that she had adopted as her family, Alaric and Murad, they were all such complex characters with one thing in common, Stella and her ancestor, Lila. The curse upon Lila’s line was now on Stella and some were trying to break it while others were wanting to see her die as fate would dictate to her and her beloved. There were so many twists and the characters were so well developed that I did not want to stop reading!! Great story!!

I admit it, I was pleasantly surprised with this book. The blurb and the cover do not do it justice. The story and the characters are so compelling that I read it in one sitting.
I might have been a bit overwhelmed with all the information about this interesting new world, a lot is happening and a lot of different characters with different abilities are involved. But each one of them is lovable and interesting.
I would love to read more books in this universe and I can't wait for book 2. This first book ends in a really nice and optimistic way, even though it makes you wonder for the future. Hopefully, the next books won't disappoint.

*Thank you to Amelia Oz and Netgalley for sending me a copy of Everwish. All thoughts and opinions are my own.*

In a magic meets mystical spin on a classic fairy tale, Everwish follows 17 year old Stella as she tries to break a curse placed on her by those long before her. I really did like how quickly we jumped into the story as it was a very different yet nice contrast to paranormal/fantasy books that tend to have very heavy and sometimes confusing world building. I really liked this piece, though obviously I was a big WTFF moment when my favourite character died (big dramatic cry moment for that). I also noticed how Amelia Oz went about the use of a slur used and made a point in her writing for the main character to call out the fact that it was racist, thought it was really towards the end and felt like a slight afterthought. Overall I thought it was a good book that I read all in one sitting, the story was interesting and easy to zip right through and as I am not intensely on the edge of my seat for a sequel, I really did enjoy the story and the protagonist and would want to see where the second Primati book takes us.

This debut novel is rich in diversity. It is a paranormal fantasy story filled with magic, ancient curses, vampires, witches, angels, demons and so much more.

Stella is clueless about the world she lives in. She is soon to turn 18 and has no idea about the curse on the women in her family. Her character has come long way and has shown great development. The confidence, understanding she makes of the world around her is incredible. A strong female character, go girl!!

Coming to Alaric, I have loved him since the start. He is what you want in a hero, gorgeous with powers, motives that will make you question his every move.

All the characters in this book are fascinating. This is a delightful urban fantasy which has a great world building, is well written and beautifully crafted with twists and turns ready to captivate you. You will find yourself turning pages quickly.

I can't wait for the next book in the series. Amelia Oz is someone to definitely look out for. Go ahead and check this book out. It is available on KU as well.

Firstly I would like to thank Netgalley for their generosity in supplying me with a copy of Everwish in exchange for an honest review.

I didn't have big expectations when I first saw the cover and read the synposis, but I am very happy to report that this book exceeded my expectations but quite a bit.

I really enjoyed Alaric and his complicated and conflicted character was interesting to observe.

Stella was a nice main character with a mix of sassy, confident, vulnerable, loving, hard and selfless for those she loved, as the makeup of her character.

This made a nice mix between the two main characters for a love interest and I enjoyed this romance but definitely think it could have been handled better and explored more. It kind of fell to the wayside a little bit and there wasn't enough super exciting action and plot to make up for this loss. Which left me feeling a bit deflated and like I was surely missing a whole chunk of the book. It just wasn't fleshed out at all.

I liked the magic system and enjoyed the variety of different characters and different creatures. However I did get a little lost when trying to keep track as there are quite a few characters that are introduced around the same time and this confused me a bit. I actually ended the book not being able to remember who the villain was, which is probably my fault for not reading the book fast enough once started, but I have read slowly on many, many other books and never forgotten who the big, bad villain is.

Overall I quite enjoyed this one and if you like magic and exploring different magic systems and styles then this book maybe be a good choice for you. It has a similar feel to Akaenae. If you need a good chunk of romance in your fiction novels, then this might leave you feeling a little lost like it did me, but there is enough to keep you going through the book in my opinion. Just maybe not enough romance to label the love interests as the magical 'One True Pairing'.

Everwish has so many classic elements of fantasy stories - vampires, witches, wraiths, demons etc. - but somehow managed to feel completely original. The story and world-building is compelling and enticing and I can’t wait to see how the story evolves and what happens next for Stella!

The only thing I didn’t love is that parts of the story felt underdeveloped and some of the twists blindsided me / there wasn’t enough of a background or basis for them in my opinion. Overall the cast of characters is very fun and dynamic and for the most part found Stella (the main character) likeable. There were a couple of scenes where I found her less likeable and not a reliable narrator though.

This is the first book I’ve read of Amelias and can see she has such incredible potential to be an amazing author! Look forward to reading book 2 when it’s published. 😊

It was difficult to give the book a rating but I think it’s a solid 3.5 rounded up to a 4!

Orphaned as a baby, 17 year old Stella was raised by her grandfather Sam and grew up straining to avoid the influence of her Romany relatives. When a strange event leaves her open to the ravages of an ancient curse, Stella's ordinary world collapses in a flood of magic and preternatural arrivals, one of whom being too gorgeous to ignore.

Whilst the vibe is very definitely YA, our confused heroine is far more spunky and street wise than the usual fantasy offerings and sets out to be as annoying as possible to those trying to keep her in the dark. The characters revolving around a quite complex storyline are all entertaining and suitably intriguing.

My only gripe - and it's probably due to my advanced middle age - is that I find 500 year old men all turning limp and sweaty at the sight of a 17 year old girl a tad worrying.

Hey, ho. Ignore me. The story's fun and the writing entertaining, so 4 stars.

Stella will discover devastating things about herself and everyone in her world were what she thought she new is so much bigger then her 17 year old self can imagine. And because of a curse and her ancestor she may never really live because on her 21st birthday she will die. Thos book is well developed every person in this book has a story even if its very brief. So as a reader you can really get into the story and drive yourself crazy waiting for the next book.
